Now that was a surprise find! A fav point from me. Find #2536 at 13:25. Grabbed while travelling with SeasonedBird, Liz & Bruce from QOGM 21 at Cunnamulla, Qld to the Geo Venture 2020 at Millicent, SA. TFTC waldos
Day three of our trek south to Millicent Mega with Wollaston and Liz & Bruce.
The day started with the final WP of earth cache Gibber - The Plain Story. It’s overcast and spitting, all our fingers are crossed it doesn’t rain while we are on the track. Trad What Keeps the Dogs out was ticked, as was An Extra Naughty Cache, the landscape here is parched and rocky, the track has some short paved sections some with sharp drop edges to watch out for and the corrugations are ever present.
Next caches converted to a smile was trad Suspicious Pile of Rocks and last cache on the Strzeleki Track, Strzeleki Stomp. The road is still unmade sections with corrugations but more paved sections have been completed and other parts under construction. The area is still crispy dry with minimal vegetation and becoming hillier. Only one kangaroo spotted, quite a few that didn’t make it across the road and one tiny bird, tough, isolate, desperately harsh and desolate conditions.
Turning onto the Outback Highway north from Lyndhurst to earth cache Ochre Mine, back to Lyndhurst for a splash of fuel. The highway is alongside the disused coal train tracks and to the east is the impressive Flinders Ranges. Our next trads we’re Tracks to Everywhere, Mine Managers Hut and Telford Cut. All located in good condition, logs signed and returned as found. Still very limited wildlife, but kangaroo is on the menu at the Copley Caravan Park Bakery, so we enjoyed a Roo pie and bush food dessert Quandong Cheesecake all while watching a dust storm whip past the cafe windows.
Our afternoon caches included an invigorating hike to trad Aroona View, and curiously named Watch Out For Roos, next we drove through a dust storm in the rain! Parachilna delivered a trad Home On The Range and earth cache Parachilna Shadows complete with TWO juvenile black banded brown snakes, not hanging around long enough to see any more. Next were trads Road Kill Grill, Pioneers Three, Merna Mora and Phone Home where it was so windy we nearly got blown home. Smileys at trad The Plug, Why Wallerberdina, Toot Toot Hill, into Hawker for a refuel and a tick for trad Boneys Breaking In Horses. Last stop for the day is Cradock.

Meandered out to gz to find the cache in good condition
Travelling with Wollaston and Seasoned Bird. Left Cunnamulla 3 days ago down the Strzelecki heading to Millicent. Thanks for arranging at this interesting location. Should have been called stone the crows.

Catching up on some logging of found caches after being in no internet reception terrain for some days. This adventure was with ilook4geo and all logs found were signed to mark our visit before all was put back as it had been found. Thanks go to waldos for placing this cache.
Working on the backlog of caches found with goingplaces2. Not a lot of caches found as we head away from populated areas. Thanks to each CO for adding to the caching game. Cache found, log signed, job done!
A drive by but not a ‘park ‘n grab’. A weird structure is nearby - weren’t sure we weren’t wandering into private property. Not much life on this bitterly cold windy day.
A bit of a walk to get to this one . Interesting paint work at GZ

What an interesting painting, although neither of us support such team. We were interested by the shed. Cache was quickly found
Today was a massive day of driving with almost 600km of driving. We started off at parachilna and headed north to Marree. Unfortunately we got a flat tyre on the way out to a cache of Freddos but a local was nice enough to plug it for us. We later headed to lake eyre south along the Oodnadatta track before heading south to Roxby downs, unfortunately a rock was flung up by an oncoming car and shattered the rear window of the car. At the end of the day we decided to pull in at woomera for the night.

No 'roos to watch out for today - just sheep and their poo !

The nearby tank (what's that doing there [?]) looks like a monument to some sort of multicoloured bird !
Thanks Waldos.

We saw a lot more lambs than Roos!

Found in the company of Freddo, e.gregory1, Team Waldron, occasional cacher out of retirement SteadyOn and muggle friend Tony during an awesome trip to the Simpson Desert, staying at Coober Pedy, then camping out at Dalhousie Springs, three nights in the Simpson Desert, Birdsville, Clayton Bore and Aroona Valley. Thanks for the cache waldos!
Cache was found as part of a Simpson Desert trek by Team Waldron, Freddo, Featherwaite, E_Gregory1 and a couple of muggles.
After Coober Pedy it was off to Dalhousie Springs then across the desert to Birdsvaille south to Clayton Springs and then one last night in the Flinders.
A great trip and we even had time for a few caches.
No roos today.

*"Walk to the cache"* you say? Nope, not if I'm in a 4WD and towing a camper. I'm drivin' right up to it! I wonder what that water tank started life as because it's the oddest looking water tank I've ever clapped eyes on, and I don't just mean the paint job either! Cache was found not too far away.

Catching up on some very late logs.
Heading across from Cameron Corner and slowly working my way south I was happy to see a few caches pop up on the screen.
Well what can you say about that tank? I have never seen any thing like it before but it seems to work well to keep the sheep watered. Nice little sign explained a bit more as well.
The GPS led me in circles today for some reason it would not settle on a direction. Cant have been lack of satellites as there was nothing around to block them.
Any way it did eventually settle on an area that did contain a cache and the log book now contains our name.
Many thanks waldos for showing us feature but no roos today just plenty of sheep.

The Big Western Australia trip in 2018. Day 42. After a quiet night in William Creek I continued South via Marree and Lyndhurst to just North of Hawker for a very cold night.
As I headed out to this one, a very clean sheep and lamb kept moving to be inborn of me, even when I got out and walked over the cache. I do not think they were too impressed. The cache was fine and I got back on the road.
Thanks.

found with jacknor, on route to arkarlooa. quick find. not quiet the roo i was expecting, alot sheep here.
Had to walk in from the road as we are towing a van. Made it to the trough where a few kangaroos were quenching their thirst. A number of sheep were close by. The cache container is disintegrating from the sun. Have placed it under a rock. TFTC
A stony stroll from the road because I missed the start of the track. No Roos here but plenty elsewhere. TFTC
We did not realise there was a track leading to GZ, so we parked
our Bus and Trailer on the road and walked in. It is a bit hard to
take 17mts of rig all that way. Lots of sheep at the trough which
had plenty of water in it and they ran away when we approached.
Found, signed and replaced. Loved the different types of rocks and
had to pick up a couple to show the Grandkids....
Thanks waldos for the rocky walk.

On our way to Alice Springs for the Event over Easter using the back roads from Canberra. Apologies for my generic log but this is the first opportunity to log caches as we have been on the Oodnadatta Track.
Very humorous. Maybe watch out for Bunnies or Roosters even though I prefer to watch out for Tigers!, though today there were only sheep and lambs.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to enjoy. SL

Spending a week driving around the Flinders, in and out of rain storms, dodging creek crossings, finding some caches where possible or safe to pull up with the geovan.
As for this cache, in pre-geocaching days, we passed by in 2008/09, worked in the area in 2012, and both times, saw this structure an wondered what is was. Now we had purpose to stop, walk - and cache. Thanks waldos for providing this purpose.

#1588 We were constantly on the lookout for Roos and emus in these parts whilst driving, but North Melbourne supporters? No, didn't expect to encounter any of them out here - Tftc waldos.
Found while on a trip north ,with the Moonta Vietnam veterans club.We went up to the Alice, Via Hawker,Oodnadata,Marree,Mount Dare, then on to the geometrical centre of Australia, where we hoisted a new flag onto the flagpole. From there to the Alice Via Old Andado. We came home down the highway .Finding caches along the way added a another highlight to the trip, also gave us a break from driving.Thank for the hunt.

We found this cache on our Northern road trip, which was to celebrate my significant birthday. We saw some great places, met some wonderful people and slept through some 3 dog nights. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and finding caches made the trip more memorable – Thank you and ……Joy to the World!!
Still quite muddy around the tank. Decided not to get my gear all muddy so didn't crawl to the place I expected the cache to be. Thanks waldos.
Well this was a fun one. With the tank overflowing it turned nearly into a swim to get this cache. The cache was full of water so we tried to dry it out and we put in a new log sheet. Placed it back in a way it should stay safe, and then had a shower under the overflow to clean off. TFTC.
Well do we have a story to tell. Found our way to GZ to discover water tank full and overflowing. That of course meant it was sitting in a rather large puddle. We quickly guessed where it was but how to retrieve it? Get lionjrb to strip and go swimming! Cache was ful of water so we dried it out and sat it back in its hidey hole on a rock so its dry! Tftc and the adventure.

I've been up working at Leigh Creek for a few weeks and as we have all but finished everything we had today off. I decided to take my fieldy for a look around Brachina Gorge as he is a geology student (and I'm a geologist) and I knew he'd love it. I also made sure we found a few caches too (something else he greatly enjoyed).
We set off in the work ute, wearing hi-vi (we didn't have any casual clothes as we have been working all the time) and managed to find ten in total. This was the tenth one on our list. We decided to leave it until we were returning to Leigh Creek as we zoomed right past the track in. On the return journey we located the track and drove right up to GZ. The muggle was the one that spotted the cache (isn't this why all geos need a fieldy??) and he crawled on his belly to grab the cache and also to replce it.
The tank is a water tank off of a water cart usind in the mines. It is rather strange to see one not on a truck though! The nearby trough was empty and so was the tank.

What a real weird place. After signing log thinking I was all alone,a noise startled me,
and behold, 3 sheep had come for a drink in the nearby trough. Phwee, that was close.

I was wondering what that thing was as I drove along the highway !!
A wander in closer revealed much more detail.
A big blue roo from '96 adorned each side of this giant metal thingy
Up close it is obvious what it is, but from the main road it looks like a house [:o]
Dunno how the water gets into the thingy, but it obviously does as the nearby trough was full of the wet stuff !!
And after a lap or two of the thingy, I spied a cache hiding out of reach !!
A long stick was the preferred method of retrieval and rehidng and saved me getting down and dirty

I was headed up to Port Augusta for a kayak event but somehow afterwards I forgot to stop driving.
1,700kms later and after 83 smileys including 1 FTF were locus cache'd, 1 event attended and sadly 7 DNFs and a dead roo, I arrived back home with both the camera and the phone full of pictures of this amazing country in which we live .
My one DNF on my way home.
I had been looking at the tank and wondering what and why, then realised I was 3kms past the cache
Did a u-turn and came back....only to walk in to GZ and not find the cache.
I made a PAF call and was told easy find, straight in and reach in but to no avail.
I did wonder if the recent rains had swept the cache away but maybe I was just unsure that the edges wouldn't crumble under me to look properly! Hence why I didn't replace the cache. If it is missing, I apologise for not replacing it but I just wasn't sure.
