Great spot. Plenty of old ruins to see around the Flinders. Cache in good order. TFTC
Travelling from Arkaroola to Maree, we had a few stops apart from the ECs, our favourite type of caches. This one was one of these. We like to learn about the history of this area, fascinating. Life changed so much since the closure of the mine. The cache was found after getting to GZ a few meters off, never mind, beautiful area.TFTCGreetings - pilot03 #4517
Found it! Found while in Leigh Creek for the Christmas pageant and fireworks. #425 TFTC!
Well my trip up to QOGM started a couple of weeks ago and after taking the very indirect route up to outback QLD to get there. So after cruising up the Hume to Sydney then the M1 and A1 up to Byron Bay with a few other roads in between as I have been cris crossing a bit so after heading west and making it to Longreach time for a break from the travelling. So after a couple big days out to Stonehenge, Isisford and Ilfracombe, The Tritonz and Roaming Howie finally joined me and we did the puzzle trail. Then a fun first muster day to Muttaburra and back then a great tea event and a few more caches.A trip to Stonehenge and back again for them. The second muster day and boy what a busy day as there was a lot going on in the car with everything we had to do.Collect trads, look at photos, find some forks and then some property numbers as well. The Mexicans as we were called teamed up with a couple of other cars The Morris and Pool Pool to have a lot of fun over the radio.Well all the caches have been found and after another great dinner event QOGM has officially finished. This was my first QOGM and I had a great time, but all good things must come to end and today I must start heading towards home but Im also taking the very long way around back to Victoria.Roaming Howie is joining me on this section of the trip and the area is all new to him.So after the history lesson at Innamincka then the trip to Camerons Corner yesterday which involved crossing over 200 or more sand dunes to get there Im heading to Lyndhurst.I have always wanted to do the Strzelecki track and finally the stars have aligned on this trip.I have driven past here a few times and have noticed the old building but I have always had the van behind me so I was able to call in here today.I loved the old building and the old water tank and windmill that is still operating. Thanks waldos TFTC.
Making our way north we made the detour into the old hut, found the cache and took a few photos before hitting the road again a welcome chance to stretch the legsTFTC waldos
It would have been lonely being the only house there and the view being piles of dark dirt. TFTC
Fascinating spot. Cache container is starting to perish. Contents dry after last night’s heavy rain. TFTH
Wasn’t sure if we’d be able to chuck a U-turn with the caravan on behind at this one, but all was good and a quick find was made. Left a TB.
We targeted this one to check for a missing TB. But sadly there was no Gold Ox TB here. Beautiful and interesting spot.
Found on the way back from out epic Madigan Line Crossing of the Simpson Desert.

Find #2539 at 11:17. Grabbed while travelling with SeasonedBird, Liz & Bruce from QOGM 21 at Cunnamulla, Qld to the Geo Venture 2020 at Millicent, SA. TFTC waldos
Day three of our trek south to Millicent Mega with Wollaston and Liz & Bruce.
The day started with the final WP of earth cache Gibber - The Plain Story. It’s overcast and spitting, all our fingers are crossed it doesn’t rain while we are on the track. Trad What Keeps the Dogs out was ticked, as was An Extra Naughty Cache, the landscape here is parched and rocky, the track has some short paved sections some with sharp drop edges to watch out for and the corrugations are ever present.
Next caches converted to a smile was trad Suspicious Pile of Rocks and last cache on the Strzeleki Track, Strzeleki Stomp. The road is still unmade sections with corrugations but more paved sections have been completed and other parts under construction. The area is still crispy dry with minimal vegetation and becoming hillier. Only one kangaroo spotted, quite a few that didn’t make it across the road and one tiny bird, tough, isolate, desperately harsh and desolate conditions.
Turning onto the Outback Highway north from Lyndhurst to earth cache Ochre Mine, back to Lyndhurst for a splash of fuel. The highway is alongside the disused coal train tracks and to the east is the impressive Flinders Ranges. Our next trads we’re Tracks to Everywhere, Mine Managers Hut and Telford Cut. All located in good condition, logs signed and returned as found. Still very limited wildlife, but kangaroo is on the menu at the Copley Caravan Park Bakery, so we enjoyed a Roo pie and bush food dessert Quandong Cheesecake all while watching a dust storm whip past the cafe windows.
Our afternoon caches included an invigorating hike to trad Aroona View, and curiously named Watch Out For Roos, next we drove through a dust storm in the rain! Parachilna delivered a trad Home On The Range and earth cache Parachilna Shadows complete with TWO juvenile black banded brown snakes, not hanging around long enough to see any more. Next were trads Road Kill Grill, Pioneers Three, Merna Mora and Phone Home where it was so windy we nearly got blown home. Smileys at trad The Plug, Why Wallerberdina, Toot Toot Hill, into Hawker for a refuel and a tick for trad Boneys Breaking In Horses. Last stop for the day is Cradock.

Couldn't get into the hut, it's fenced off with barbed wire. Muggles were at windmill so couldn't check there.

Travelling south after a great visit and overnight camp at Farina. This is a fascinating piece of history, well worth dropping in to see the old water infrastructure. Thanks for bringing us in here - a favourite point for the history. Left a path tag.
Whilst enjoying a few days on the open road The X-Trailers and I located your cache. TFTC
On a road trip with CBC2 from Adelaide to Coober pedy via Oodnadatta track returning to Adelaide via the black top. Found many caches along the way some oh so easy and some more challenging. Thanks to all the CO s for their hides. Some took us to some wonderful places. SL TFTC

An interesting little spot, it must of been tuff out here back in the day that’s for sure
Today was a massive day of driving with almost 600km of driving. We started off at parachilna and headed north to Marree. Unfortunately we got a flat tyre on the way out to a cache of Freddos but a local was nice enough to plug it for us. We later headed to lake eyre south along the Oodnadatta track before heading south to Roxby downs, unfortunately a rock was flung up by an oncoming car and shattered the rear window of the car. At the end of the day we decided to pull in at woomera for the night.

We are on a 4wd/camping holiday from Adelaide to Alice Springs.
We are following the Old Ghan Railway as much as possible.
It has been interesting seeing the history of the out back and caching as we go.
Thank you for placing this cache.

This one was interesting. We stopped to explore before moving on.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
After our overnight pie stop in Farina, it was back on the Barndioota Road towards Quorn.
Quick find, then we checked out the hut. Thanks Waldos for the opportunity to see another ruin, that we may well have bypassed.

Found in the company of Freddo, e.gregory1, Team Waldron, occasional cacher out of retirement SteadyOn and muggle friend Tony during an awesome trip to the Simpson Desert, staying at Coober Pedy, then camping out at Dalhousie Springs, three nights in the Simpson Desert, Birdsville, Clayton Bore and Aroona Valley. Thanks for the cache waldos!
A beautiful old relic of times gone by.
On our way to Marree.
We Arrived in Marree for the Annual Australasian Camel Cup.
It sounds like it should be a lot of fun.
A beautiful sunrise to start the day with some beautiful clouds above to give a stunning photo opportunity over the desert sands.
The quaint olde outback country town has certainly come to life this Cup weekend.
We found your cache tucked away nicely and with signing duties done and dusted we replaced the cache as found.
Thanks for sharing this interesting spot, it’s been great looking around the old hut remains,
the old windmill and stone water holding tank and finding out about the wonderful rich history of the local and pioneering characters from the district.

Good stop here, interesting plumbing/water system, plus discovered a missing shackle on van chains. All good
Another ruin and an excuse to stop.
This one was interesting with the water trough out the back.
It's hard to imagine how tough life would have been back in the day.

A quick find as we traveled from Farina to the Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges NP today. Thanks waldos for the cache.
Took a side trip up the Strezlecki and across to Tiboorburra on our way home from WA. Don't know that there would be too many tradesmen capable of building a home such as this today.
Thanks waldos

This Hut is one of the nicest ruins out this way. There were lots
of birds around looking for the water. We enjoyed wandering
around and loved the Windmill.
Found, signed and replaced the cache.

We were now heading from Leigh Creek to Coward Springs in true grey nomad style as this is our first day of sunshine and we intend to enjoy it picking up a few caches along the way.
It's caches like this that have kept us interested in Geocaching all these years, there is so much history here you can almost imagine what it must have been like in it's heyday. We took a little while to find the cache. We made it a lot harder than it had to be but we did get the in the end, we were so happy to find that it wasn't another eclipse tin. We happily added our name to the log and re hid the cache as found.
Thanks waldos for the cache in this great location, a favourite point from us.

The old and the new of the mining industry. Looks like a huge operation. Cache in good nick. Tftc
This cache was not on our list of to do’s however car troubles had forced us to Copley to get a new fuel filter. A rock had put a hole in our fuel filter last night coming down the Old Strzelecki. Thankfully Copley had a replacement (although we decided to keep the one that we had bogged up on the vehicle). Whilst on the way back up to Lyndhurst we stopped for this one. This was such cute hut. The kids loved seeing it. We hopped out and checked out the windmill. Sad to see all the dead goats down the bottom of the big hole. Cache was quick to find…….. eatmorchikin from Brisbane on the way to Alice for the Easter caching event.
On our way to Alice Springs for the Event over Easter using the back roads from Canberra. Apologies for my generic log but this is the first opportunity to log caches as we have been on the Oodnadatta Track.
Wasn't really expecting to be able to get this cache as we're towing quite a large van, but Pa has been fantastic in supporting my aim of reaching the 3000 milestone when I register in Alice so that I can gain that beautiful looking souvenir.
The cache is well hidden and in excellent condition. TFTC TNLN SL

We are off to the Flinders Ranges and Farina this weekend, we will be traveling a few Trackables and hopefully collecting a few Smiley faces along the way.
This was a cache that a Smiley Face was found.
For all the places that we visit a Pathtag will be placed if we enjoy the hunt OR just because we can get one in the container.
The surprise or disappointment will be answered for the next finder. Hope it is your lucky day.
We thank the CO for placing this cache to make our travels enjoyable.

Find #260 for us, travelling south towards the end of our six-week journey to Broome and the Pilbara. We have stopped at the township of Leigh Creek a few times in the past and have found it to be a lovely oasis at the end of dusty journeys. What will become of it now the mine has closed I wonder? Cache is in good nick, TNLNSL.
Fourth cache found on our long weekend trip from roxby downs to arkaroola (thanks to the protestors in roxby for the extra time off work). There was a fire burning on the nearby coal piles. TFTC!
Was on my way to see beautiful Lake Eyre so decided to break up the drive with some caching. Hand picked all the caches I wanted to do so I had plenty of time to get my other sight seeing done.
Sorry for the generic log it was a busy long road trip
I love old ruins, so this one will earn a fav point
