Went here because I heard it was a great walk for the dog, and it was! Was about halfway back when I thought, "I bet theres a cache there". I should have looked before I went. Next time
Waited for a a group of young female chatty women to move on before have the area to myself. Gave the 'bridge' a good poke & prod, to no avail. It really looks like its gone. Great spot though and the swimming spot looks really inviting! Sorry for being the bearer of bad news.
Pretty sure we were in the right spot but didn't find it. Lots of spider webs though, so didn't pock around too much
Out for another walk with some off the members of Grandma's A Team. Grandma's A team collected a TB to take on their next adventure.
Wow, my new fav spot in WLG. Went here on a friday evening, such a quiet spot away from the city noise. Left a trackable, and a wandering wood pigeon, #5

Out for the day with some teachers and students, doing navigation, bivvy building and other skills. Did a loop up the ridge to Hautry then back down to Muritai Road, great day out. Nice picnic area for morning tea, plus this cache. TFTC

A great day for a walk into the picnic area today. Enjoyed a snack, signed the log and returned to the car. TFTC
The cache was indeed missing, the tree stump has disintegrated. A new cache has been placed a couple of metres from the original position in a similar-ish location.
Pretty sure cache has been taken - tree where it was has rotted and been knocked over...
Some friends helped with this one. A nice day out. Walked the dog.[xx(][xx(][xx(][xx(][xx(]
went with Ninjawurmple but made account today (15/04/2012) also with other friend and his dog.
Found very easily in a very obvious spot. no one around made it even easier to find! What a lovely spot. Yes the water looked very inviting today but with no togs....My 6th find in NZ....
T: TB to bring back to Canada with me.
TFTC...what a wonderful area!

Always amazing finding caches in places you've been to so many times before...
Found with 3x Littlejardisliketardises and a friend. I had heard that this place was beautiful but I am utterly stunned. The native flora of the Wellington region is quite different from where I grew up and it's absolutely picturesque. Thank you for an excuse to come here and experience this spot. Took geocoin. TFTC
It took considerably longer than 45 or 90 minutes, but that was because I walked in from Days Bay via the Main Ridge track, picking up a few caches along the way
There were a few muggles about when I arrived just before midday, but they were all down the other end of the picnic area, so easy enough make a quick retrieval. Great spot, never been here before inspite of knowing about it for years. Thanks for the excuse to visit.

Next cache on my saturday walk in the park. Nice spot and easy find. In : GC. Out : GC. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
Walked up here as a family this afternoon, great to be back at a spot we often used to come to when we lived out this way years ago. Great spot to place a cache.
Nice easy find after our picnic. Had to wait for the crowds to disperse, but eventually had the place to ourselves and were able to retrieve the cache at our leisure. TNLN TFTC
Find #552. Our third find for the day after fixing up our McKenzie cache at the highpoint of the McKenzie and Muritai Tracks. Wow! Has the track from the junction to Butterfly creek improved! Not too long ago it was full of roots, mud, and holes. Now it’s nicely graveled with many tens of metres of boardwalk crossing the streams and going over the wettest, swampiest bits.
A brilliant walk it is, lots of great exemplars of native New Zealand forest, including climbing Rata in flower plus lush Nikau Palms growing upward through the dense jungle-like flora. Everything was wet, after the buckets of rain that fell early in the morning, but it was fine and warm in the afternoon. The cache was a nice simple find, luckily there weren’t any muggles in range while we signed the log. SL TFTC.

Hadn't been through here before and really enjoyed the wander over from the Kowhai Street entrance - a great track, although starting to get a little boggy now. Had to wait out some muggles before being able to hunt for the cache, were quite a few people around today. TFTC!

Thanx to my mum who found this one.As she headed in this direction,I yelled out to her "it can't be there!"...and I was eating humble pie shortly after.Beautiful way to enjoy this magnificent country, and the dog loved it too.
beautiful day to find a cache.
found one other cache on the trip.
couldn't find the other one we were looking for.
O well
Easy find and not to many people around either. Mostly everyone was gone once we found it

Beautiful walk on a fine summers day.. and we got through before the rain arrived. TFTC!
So we carried on from the last 2 and found this one easy enough. It is surprising not more people go down to it and log it, beautiful spot and with the promise of ice cream back in the village it did not take too long to get back up the hill.
Lovely spot. Was surprisingly chilly here today! Spotted the hiding place from 40m away, using our geocachers intuition . TFTC!

Wasn't planning to do this one, but when I was at Admirals View this one was just too close to leave..... a quick 40minute return trip for Mr Geckoh, like Paua Rangers spotted the likely hide from afar!!

#1876 (5/6 on a Sunday arvo). Thanks for bringing us here; an excellent bush walk.
Great walk down after finding Admirals View. Certainly a very popular track for walking the dog and the picnic place is a lovely spot to linger.

Good day to do this cache - pleasant sunny skies with a cooling breeze just when you needed it. Quick find. TNLN. TFTC.
Great day of geocaching and walking.May have to come back and try campinmg here. Thanks
Not sure why I have left this cache so long before I came to do it, but in the end of the day, I think that I chose one of the better days to do it. This was a great walk in a great reserve after doing the cache Admirals View decided that it was worth the effort to do this one as it wasn't that far away. Thanks for bringing me to this lovely spot, found cache without any issues. TFTC TNLNSL (2509)
Yay! Found it! Great place to hide it, well done...fabulous environment too...absolutely stunning! Swapped a Dora badge for a flowery note pad. TFTC!
I have been meaning to visit this location for some time. I am glad I made the effort this evening. I thought it was an enjoyable walk and a neat spot at Ground Zero. There was been some slippage on the beginning of the Kowhai Street Track but remedial work is well under way.
This has been on the to do list for a while, so with another sunny day (two in a row now!) it was time to burn off some EU crew energy. A great walk which we have enjoyed before, and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC
I decided I’d get some exercise this afternoon and do this cache before the big wet hits us this week. First time back here for many years. I must have been quite young the last time. I can remember the walk up the hill and the sight of the Kiakoura Ranges covered in snow, but not much about the picnic area.
I walked from the Kowhai Street entrance and reached the picnic area in 25 minutes walking quickly but not pushing it to much. Found the cache quite easily without using my GPS, just using the hint, and Topo map printout with marked waypoint.
Looks like it was found by some muggles on the 15th May who have signed the logbook. I have covered it in a more natural looking way but it should be still easy enough to find. TNLN SL 1500hr TFTC.
I highly recommend doing this cache, a most enjoyable bush ramble.

Was out this way finding some caches outstanding on my list - great weather so headed off in search of this one. On my way up the hill from Kowhai St I met up with the huhugrub team who were on their way back from finding the cache. Good to chat to you again! With good accurate coordinates at the cache site I went straight to it. I don't think I have been to Butterfly Creek since the early 1970s so thanks for putting the cache here and giving me the excuse for some excellent exercise to re-visit!
#1089. 2TF. Been a long time since we last came here. Quite a few walkers today. Surprised that we are 2nd to find after two weeks. Good to meet agcnz again after the find, as we were heading down back towards Kowhai Street.

Updated the Kowhai Street duration to 45 minutes (down from the originally stated 60 minutes) after a discussion with Paua. Thanks for the info Paua. [^]
Took somewhat less than 60 minutes.Track wanders through beech forest to a pleasant picnic area.It has been a long time since I last did this track. Thanks for the excuse.A first to find as well.
