Cool tunnel! Didn't find the cache though, seems to have disappeared a while ago.
Didn't realise all the DNF's until I couldn't find it and had a look at previous logs.
After a long slog up the hill along the old coach road and finding the old tunnel, it was a bit disappointing to find the cache missing. There is nowhere else it could be hidden in there it definitely is missing as I was with a fellow cacher who had seen it there previously.
Nope even had a head lamp with us to have a good look with no luck, think Co will need to have a check up on this on
Sadly did not find this time, we looked high and low for ages and nothing to be seen.
Sadly didn't find this one today! Enjoyed the tunnel and looked where we thought it should be but no luck!
Found it with family - including daughter and new husband after wedding at Alpine café on Saturday.
All had looked afew years ago and not found it.

Tftc not sure about the tunnel! Super scary couldn't have done this cache without 0ophoenix0o
We had no problems getting through the tunnel and locating the cache without a torch. On our previous biking trip we hadn't entered the tunnel but it was well worth the very short side trip. With metal-art
Nice stroll out along the old coach road with friends and family, with another few caches along the way. 2 year old declared this was a 'dinosaur tunnel' loved it. Easy find. Tftc
Fantastic walk would have looked for more while on the walk but was raining very hard and this was the only dry find. Found with Mr Hobbit.
On a day walk with some Silver DoE kids - found without GPS or cell phone app so very proud TFTC
Riding the coach trail today with some caching on the way. Was a great day out with the family and a good lunch at the half way point!
At first we were a little confused with this one and then realised we needed a real tunnel to explore. Came to the tunnel entrance and with the kapitikids in the lead we soon found the cache and signed the log. Great spot for a cache and earns another favourite today:)

took the kids for the mountain bike ride horopito to ohakune...the ride was good, and enjoyed the hunt for caches on our way. Thanks

Nice easy find while cycling the coach trail. Interesting to see the ceiling is fully clad. It must have been an expensive tunnel to build. However when viewed from the other side of the main line, the grey clay would have to to have been fully braced. TFTC
Found this one on a hike on the old coach road.
Thank you for this one.

Didn't have time to attempt the whole rail trail today, but getting to the viaduct was the main goal. Bodies didn't like the climb up the hill from the Ohakune end, but knew it'll be the better option when we turned around and headed back to the car.
Didn't read the clue and realised we had gone right past the cache without even realising. We were headed back that way anyways so re-entered the tunnel after checking out the viaduct. Knew exactly where the cache will be hidden and had it straight away once I got to GZ. Cool spot for a cache.

Enjoying our holiday by walking and finding caches as we pass by. Good spot for a cache and not the least Bit frightening as it was Valentine's and we could hold hands down the tunnel. TFTC
Got within a tantalizing 10m before re-reading the clue, and having to go the long way round (we were heading that way anyway!). Not too dark at all. TFTC.
Found on the return journey to the Hapuawhenua Viaduct. It would be so much shorter if the gate wasn't there. TFTC.
I love this tunnel thanks for placing a cache here such a great place to spend some time.
Cycling the trail. Cunning - I though I had somehow missed this one! Take sunglasses off to see better TFTC
We bravely headed into the darkness, only to find it was quite easy really. Even managed to bike all the way to the end. Thanks for bringing us here
No, I'm not. It was a lovely day out here on the old coach road and the sun was shining bright.
A good walk through the tunnel and a quick find.

Southbound passenger train came along as I was signing the log, so used my torch to illuminate my face....whose afraid of the dark now!
Cycling from ohakune to horipito and back today this was our first find and a great little hide too.

Can't resist caches like this. Thanks to the previous finders log how to find the entrance. TFTC
Quickly found by Mother Dagg. Nice and cool in the tunnel and the kids really came alive. Would have been useful to know that this cache is accessed from the Ohakune end. While it may seem you're only 20 metres away when coming down from Horipito, it pays to carry on towards Ohakune. Awesome cache.
Biking old Coach road!
Really nice one, but the Headercoordinates irritated me for a long time.
When i gave up finding that entrance and did some other caches first, then i found the tunnel and just a minute later the cache...
Thank you very much for this hideout!

Found with Absters, eagle eyed junior Abster soon had the cache in hand, but we had to wait for some muggles to move on so that we could replace it. TFTC
A bit boggy underfoot as the recent floods have spilled into the tunnel. Cache in good order. TFTC
Have been wanting to do the Old Coach Road for some time now, and after a few good days on the Mt., today was the day. Awesome track! such a great job they've done.
This cache was a funny one, because as we were riding along downhill on approach to the viaduct, the GPS beeped & said we were 5 meters from the cache. After reading the description & not seeing any tunnel we thought there must be some mistake, so just carried on, did another couple caches and eventually found the tunnel entrance. Woohoo! that was fun riding through and just enough glow from the screen to see find the cache in the dark. Thanks!!

Awesome cache, After a bit of second guessing Mr harries decided it was where he thought and did some more searching by brail and found the cache....believes it is a little smaller than the 200ml stated. great cache, really enjoyed this one
as we approached the dark hole some one said it was sealed off so we couldnt get through so we thought we must be able to approach from the other side over the hill but when we got there to find it was fenced off we knew we had to approach from the south side so we went on to the next on then got this one on the way back. many thanks
Did this ride a few weeks ago without the GPS. Am doing it today with friends and geocaching along the way heading to Ohakune. One of the best bike trails in the country!!! TFTC
A cool tunnel

Awesome little cache that was quickly found and hidden away again. Fun biking through the tunnel with no lights. Thanks for the cache.
Amongst my work colleagues on a trip, dropped GPS in the tunnel in the dark but once a torch was produces it was voila, there it is

Had a troop of cyclists who had found this cache just before us. Kids enjoyed hiding it away again though.
Went to the wrong end to get this cache, but managed to get in to sing the log. If i had stuck to the track at the beging it would have been a lot easyer.

Haha attacked this from the opposite end, had fun sqwezing through bars nice tunnle indeed.
Great little tunnel. Not too many places to hide in here so found easily enough.
love old construction! did the tunnel before reading all three cache infos, went up to the viaduct, found that one, then realized we'd be doing the tunnel again to find this one! would love to ride this track from the northern end, walked from the south this time. tftc
Nice one - introduced a family to Geocaching while completing log. They are off to buy a GPS.
Great little spot, thanks for bring us here. Thanks for the cache. Took nothing, left nothing.
A great walk for the whole family to enjoy, heaps of muggles around but used the good old family photo trick to eatup some time until the coast was clear then E of bedaz had things quickly out, signed and hidden in record time. TFTC
Easy find, just had to be quick as there were muggle bikers coming and going:) Thanks!
Found in the company of oz n nz when visiting area while on holiday in New Zealand. TNLN TFTC.
Found with aj.mcewen - successful geocoaching day - managed to find 7 out of 7 and introduced his sister to the world of geocaching
No skiing so went geocaching with tao caches. Raining but sheltered in the tunnel. great little spot. TFTC.
Kids loved the spooky walk! Tftc

Ahh! The curse of the etrek! I was here just over a year ago, the Old Coach Road cache was my second ever, so I was very much a newbie at this. The cache coordinates put the cache at on the top of the cliff on hte other side of the railway. Nowadays, I know better. The cache owner would have put the GPS through the bars and got what he could, (I would have snuck down the railway for a more accurate reading). If I had the etrek and no notes now, I would have found the cache - the name was obvious, the the potential hidey holes are also obvious. But then - after searching up and down the railway, and not having the enusiasm to to climb up tot he top of that cutaway, it was no win for me then. So I am really pleased I got it now! TFTC, LeftyNZ.
Really glad a train didn't go past when we were in here! Nice quick find on a really lovely walk.
Found with a crowd of Auckland Grammar students after visiting the viaduct. Great day out and nice hide. TFTC
