Logs
As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.
We will get there as soon as we can. Every time we have been past in recent months there has been road works with heavy vehicles sitting in the vicinity which have hampered our efforts of checking up on this one. We thought we had taken it off listing until it was sorted, but apparently it wasn't, will try again! Thank you for the update.
This owner has not been on to the geocaching site since march so i expect it will not be fixed up any time soon, better to make it go away to stop it coming up in searches and wasting people time looking
GeoWife and I on a trip to Mudgee for a weekend away with the family, and a little wine tasting along the way.

Either this has gotten real hard or it I just not there drove into the worksite as no one around and spent some time looking seems co has not fixed this one up as yet.
Found it but needs maintenance.
The tree looks to have been hit by lightning and the "fork" has been split (well one part of it, I found the cache on the ground at GZ, it was very wet too.
**Image uploaded**
Ive put it back as per the Hint, easy find but off the ground.

Found on the way North to Newnes, as reported in other logs the tree has been damaged. We found the cache about 3 mts from the tree after quite some search. place it at the foot of the tree.
Wouldn't have known there was a tunnel hereabouts. Shame one can't visit. No one around today making for an easy find. Thanks.

The second day of our Blue Mountains expedition with Pprass and Robmc and the last cache for the day. The information contained in the cache notes about this cache site is rather scary and an interesting revelation about part of Australia's history. While we were at the cache site a police unit was located on the south bound lane of the Castlereagh Highway (right on top of the tunnel)directing vehicles into the left lane - for no apparent reason!
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt Anywherebuthome.

Found at 5:35pm GAFF5 in the company of Phetlern and Robmc - our last cache for the day. We managed to get to this one this time - we missed the turn-off when passing by this morning.
The Australian govt during the war were prepared to use any weapons whatsoever to stop the Japanese who were threatening the north as well as the east coast. It was a good thing that it all stopped before it got really nasty!
Thanks for the hunt Anywherebuthome.

Interesting history of the tunnel, wouldn't realise it just driving past.
Thanks, Robmc.
Thanks, Robmc.
As I wasn't sure if I was going the right way I had to stop anyway! Where is the tunnel?(hahaha)

Passed this one a few times, but today we actually stopped to log our find, on our way home from Newnes. Quick find, TFTC
First find for today's short trip with pjmpjm. The cap of the container is missing but the plastic bag seem to be doing it's job and all was dry.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found together with rogerw3 while on a trig and cache hunting expedition in the Wallerawang area.
We were a little bit disappointed that the cache wasn't located inside a tunnel!
Part of the container was missing but the plastic bag is keeping everything dry.
TNLNSL.
Thanks to Anywherebuthome!

Nice piece of history, thanks for passing it on! Smell seemed to have gone today, thank goodness.
We had the rest area to ourselves for a quick find. There is something dead in the general area and the smell was a bit off putting however, that didn't stop us caching! TFTC and the history.
It was cold and raining on arrival, but we soon found the goods.
Thanks to Anywherebuthome for the rest stop and hide.

Made for a pleasant break on my way home from Griffith today.
Too windy to get the stove going though, so it was a dry break. Still only another hour or so to a really great cuppa.
There's a tunnel here? With Chemical weapons in it?
OK I'm outta here.
Mr Darcy.

Found this cache at 2pm on our way to mudgee for a vintage car weekend and caching as we go. Had to try and not be noticed as there were a few work trucks parked nearby. (Really think they were filling in the rest of the day before knocking off).
Nice easy find.
Thanks Anywherebuthome for the hide.

Having a great visit to the Blue Mountains and am enjoying some nice caches that are providing lots of interesting information and veiws of the area. This is what make caching so much fun.
No idea how we missed this one in the snow last time... A quick and easy find and I was back on the road today!
Cheers

Stopped in here with PPE on our way to a motorbike rally. Scary to think of Australia storing chemical weapons - I thought only bad guys did that. Anyway it was a quick find with the hint; TFTC!
Easily found and signed while geohubby checked out the rock dumped in the area. Interesting chunks of iron ore in the car parking area.

Thanks for the history - that makes it all the more fascinating. TNLN - TFTC.
Usually flying past here with no time to stop but decided to detour today while going to Lithgow Show. Quick find but dropped the lid of the container and couldn't find it again! Sorry, Anywherebuthome, I placed the container and log in a plastic bag before putting it back in the hide. I'll call in next time past and bring a replacement lid - just happen to have a few of them at home.
Interesting history. I turned up here on the way up to Orange on Friday to find this one, but changed my mind when lightning hit a few hundred metres away. TFTC
Picked up on the way to Sydney. Easy quick cache.
Will have to keep an eye out for this series. Seen this tunnel on TV the other day
I think the owner is growing mushrooms in it.

Out for a day of 4x4ing with the Dawg and SherpaNT, and what a day it was.
Obviously we found some caches along the way which made the day even more memorable.

We found Marrangaroo Tunnel (1st) (GC23XCJ) on a Lithgow trip to find some local caches and do some 4x4'ing with HomeDG and SherpaNT, my 14th of 16 finds and my 1478th overall find. Nice quick find... TNLNSL. Thanks for the cache, Anywherebuthome. Deputy D0g.
Right where it should be RTA trucks parked nearby but fortunately workers all down below, logged my find and then on to the next Thanks for the cache
Had the chance today to do this one in the daylight and after reading the clues. Last time I visited this one was at night and I had not read the clue- I thus found myself wandering around in the dark about 15 mtrs from where I should have been. Not to worry this one proved to be a very easy find in the end for the geokids. TFTC
I didn't read the cache notes until now, so I wondewred where the tunnel was as we found the cache. Thankfully a father restrained a young boy who wanted to follow us up to the cache site. Thanks
First of the day and a nice quick find as the sun rose over the horizon.
Would be good if you could access the tunnel for a walk through.

Apparently it is late, and bad things happen to you in Lithgow when it is dark and late. Well, so I am told. Easy find.

We failed here on the way West yesterday in the snow, and failed again today heading back East in the wind. It is certainly not in the obvious spot, but it may well be somewhere else that we could not see! Alas, maybe next time!
After a look yesterday and another this morning, Hoojad and I couldn't nut this one out.
Interesting to read the info on the cache page. Found the cache no probs with the clue.

Had a look in the dark with no torch and no clues! Will have to come back in daylight or with a torch and will read the clues next time.
7th today. Found after a visit to my ex with our daughter; Littlebub,- for his birthday.
Littlebub and I did another cache here( Wrong Way) - now disabled, in the not too distant past.
Interesting and a bit scary too think there is an abyss (whereabouts unknown...) somewhere right there under you when you are conducting your caching duties......

This was my first Caching road trip with the goal of completing 20 caches on my return from Mudgee to Wollongong.
"Marrangaroo Tunnel" was my 8th for the day. After driving past I pulled up and had to run back. On Arriving at GZ a garbage truck pulled up and the driver proceeded to get out. I pretended to be on my "Phone" (GPS) until he got back in the truck and left. A quick retrieve, sign and replace was completed before any other muggles stopped by.
Thanks for your cache, a nice hide and my 8th of 28 for the day.

Found at about 11:27 AM.I had never clicked that there was a tunnel near here! Found the cache after a bit of a search, the coords are off and the cache was a bit of a different size to the description but we got there in the end.

Overshot the turn-off, then overshot the rest area :\ Got there in the end despite the bitterly cold wind. TFTC.
An easy find heading home after working this morning at Wang. I had to be carefull though to avoid the attention of two surveyors who were working about 150m down the road. Thanks Tableland Cachers.
A quick find with approaching rain.
MY GPSr said 40 metres away... I'll put that down to the cloud layer
Easy find. TFTH and the info on the area.

Interesting history of the tunnel. Quick find must be replacing another cache I did in this same area last year. TNLN thanks.
Cords are off but the find was still quick ! was looking for something bigger? not a micro, thanx
A muggle was overlooking GZ so we had to wait for a while before starting our assult on GZ. Once the area was clear, cache was obtained and log signed. TFTC
