No ammo tin. Container broken and rather gross. Log book fine though so all good!On my way to catch up with a crew to do the SA series. Chose selected caches along the way to break up my journey. Chose this one as I would get to stretch my legs. Bit freaked out when a young person was walking towards me which is rather random for this location. Thanks for bringing me here g_ordo and providing a a leg stretchRegards kbucky
I get the 4 terrain weighting. Tough both in and out. The sistema is getting old and letting water in unfortunately: David and Simone
Found It!I think I took the hard way (or the 'scenic route') into this one but eventually I made it to GZ and then after a bit of searching around I found the cache. The bridge is complete now and I've driven over it several times.TFTC
We were in the area today and decided to pop by and see if we could find this cache. We have often stopped here with our geopups when travelling from Ballarat back to Melbourne. We were without the geodogs today, so we had the time to look for the cache without having them tugging at their leads.Being unencumbered made the trip to the cache a little easier. We found the cache in excellent condition.Thank you for hiding this Traditional cache g_ordo and to TheJackoCrew for maintaining it for us to find.
My second D/T tick for the day. Parked at the old carpark and walked around. Somewhat tiring getting up, but manageable. Took a while to find the cache, but only because I wasn't looking in the right direction. TFTC!
Driven past thinking I must get this cache one day, well today was the day. Out caching with a fellow cacher and happy to find this on my birthday. Thanks Jacko83 for placing this cache and contributing to this great game. Happy trails, Deanside
Epic little hike from the old bridge. Under other bridge new paint job. Well done!! Shirt cut it back…

I had decided on a mini road trip for this weekend, starting in Melton for breakfast on Saturday morning and ending in Ballarat for the GeoTour. What happened in between was the mystery!
After the CITO I teamed up with The_Tritonz again for a second day of caching adventures. If they weren’t sick of me yesterday surely today will do the job.
Lots of road works in the area as parts of the road have collapsed, but we were able to find an access point to this cache, particularly as it was a weekend.
The good sized cache was located and the log signed.
Thanks Jacko83 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Found with senior Ogston girl. Quite difficult especially for 76 y old. Been on our list for several years.. Tried about 5yrs ago but approached from.wrong direction. Tftc
we tried to get this one a while back
we hadn’t read the warnings: we parked on the wrong side of the road
and didn’t have the guts to dash between the hundred-k-an-hour traffic
we couldn’t be bothered doing a u-turn
so
we left it for another day
another day: today
we spent the morning at the gorge
the afternoon was spent travelling here and there nibbling on treasures
of course, we were going to come and revisit
we made sure to come in from the right side
and
boom
tick

Travelling home from the western districts, Vinz needed to stretch his legs and what better way than to leave the freeway and search for a few hidden artifacts along the old road.
Having a vehicle capable of being parked anywhere without being questioned, Vinz simply parked on the old hwy, jumped the Armco and took a short stroll to find this pleasantly located artifact.

Not sure if I approached the recommended way but I ended parking the minivehicle about 20m away along a somewhat indifferent track. Straightforward find, cache in good condition and ready for action. Great view of the now busy bridge. T4TC
Saw this had a trackable in it and just had to check it out.
Got a bit lost getting to GZ, climbed the hill too early and had to make my way down again which was very dangerous. Wear good solid shoes for this one as there are a lot of rocks to step around.

Found as Nicnax with PapaGrouch. We stopped here on the way past to find a couple of caches, started with this one. It took a bit of effort to make the trek and climb the hill, glad it was a cooler day. I thought we might be in trouble at the beginning, as a tree had come down over the path, but there was a clear area at one side so it was OK. So much rubbish about, a real shame there are so many inconsiderate people out there. When we got near GZ we spent quite a while trying to spot the hide, obvious when finally spotted, but not so much if you look in the wrong places. TFTC
Hubby decided that I could wait at the car while he hunted the cache down, wasn't he nice to me. SL TFTC

On our way home after completing the Noah’s Lark series and made a detour here. We had planned to do this one last as we thought it might be more difficult. After spending a considerable amount of time searching at the bridge for that cache we came here. This was a quick find.

After completing the Noah's Lark a Gambol in the Gorge series with jascat, we headed back into town to find a few more caches in the area before heading for home.
We were now heading for home but we decided to make a quick stop here as the rain was coming down but it turn into a longer stop than expected.
After having a look for the other bridge cache nearby we then headed tomorrow this one making our way there under torch light hoping that we were on the right trail, we were closing in so it was all good.
Once we were close we started looking around and a short time later the prize was found and the log signed.

Heading home from working in the area and stopped to stretch the legs and destress.
Crap everywhere, so sad. Sent off 3 "Snap Send Solve" reports of rubbish and possible asbestos but I could have sent off 10.
This needs a "Mega" sized CITO here.

Longest cache hunt by far. Took the path under the bridge. Went for a walk where the phone went flat. Doubled back to gain charge. Return to better location leading up up up. Quite warm weather and so much dumped rubbish. Attacked this cache from the hardest longest way possible. Once signed realised you could literally be at the cache in a minute from a better parking spot. TFTC
Tftc parked where you supposed to park and walked down. Loads of rubbish around. Took a while to find. Saw thumper running away from me. Then spotted something a little suspect covered up along the bank. Walla found it. Now typing with numb fingers a bit fresh this morning. Thought about driving further along the track but didn't want to get a puncture from the junk lying around, some people are gross.
[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.

Found at 11:58 AM GAFF1 on a "get our Terrain average up to 1.8 weekend". Which means no Terrain caches below 2.0 for a while
Now there was a bit of an adventure. We parked our van in the car park just north of GZ not realising that the cache was on the other side of the road. So while c-pprass prepared some lunch, p-pprass just went for a "short" walk to get the cache and return in hopefully 5 minutes. Well 30 minutes later p-pprass returns sweating profusely and panting something like "now that was a D of 4.0 in parts let me tell you!" [B)]
A lovely view of the impressive bridge that you take no notice of whatsoever when crossing it at 110 kph
Thanks Jacko83.

Drove right up to this cache today. Lots of rubbish dumping going on. Anyway the views of the bridge are great. The cache was found quickly. no Ammo can. The container has a hair line crack in one side otherwise all is good. Driving out I saw a feral cat with a bird in it's mouth. They are so bad for our Fauna.

After a short walk in the nearby Long Forest I made my way towards the Djerriwarrh Creek where I still had a few unfound caches.
Making my way to GZ on foot I couldn't avoid the dumped rubbish that some bogans have left here - makes you lose faith in humanity sometimes. At least finding the cache cheered me up a little .
Thanks for keeping this one going, Jacko - it's certainly an unusual location and a great GZ despite the messy access route.

Thankyou for the cache. I parked at the old bridge car park and started my walk to GZ. How disappointing that there is so much rubbish in the area. The ammo can has gone, but the plastic box cache is in very good condition. Thankyou previous finders for looking after it. SL. TN. LN. and returned the cache to its hiding place. I enjoyed exploring the rock formations in the area. These rocks have seen some action, I think!
I'd spotted the D/T combo on this cache and decided today was as good a day as any to grab it. Parked near the old sandstone bridge, so lovely, and walked over. Such a same so much trash is dumped, as the landscape is really quite beautiful here, but ruined by careless people. Anyway, it was pretty muddy and slippery, and I didn't have my hiking boots on, so the going was a bit precarious in places. Made the terrain level even higher for myself as I took way too long to spot the cache and scrambled all over the place up and down and around. Contacted a previous finder who helped me zero in on it a bit, and wouldn't you know it, I pretty much completely encircled it but still missed it in the hunt. Never mind, eventually found and signed and returned. TFTC and the D/T square g_ordo and Jacko
I'd put this off many times due to its location but this time with time to spare I made my way to GZ. This area could do with a CITO event. Once at GZ I was searching high and low. I widened the search area still no find until I ventured far enough away to turn around and spot the hide. How'd I miss that.

With a day off with the geo family, we decided to get out of the house for a few hours and enjoy a few things in and around Melton. While on the way back home we parked to do this one and enjoyed the walk. Once we made our way to GC, it took some time to locate this one. I was up high and down low and it was here that I spotted the likely spot as we had a 4WD come in below us. I'm sorry to say the ammo can has gone but the container is in good condition. Stamped and replaced as found.

Before I get to my log I would like to say that there are some real idiots that think they can use this area as the own dump there was rubbish everywhere, there was also drug packets with drugs in them around the area. RANT OVER. The cache was in a good spot to see the views of the new bridge. I took the TB and went back to the car the short naughty way. TFTC
Little hike but good hide geo god mother found him first T4TC dropped off travel bug
Not a bad place to hide, if you think about it and look easy to get to without much difficulty, TFTC.

I knew my legs wouldn't cope with this hike, so I sent geohubby while I napped in the car. TFTC
Found in June on my visit. Had a fabulous time with family & so glad my granddaughters are getting outside for the fun. So we have to watch for sidewinders, scorpions. Black widows, & gila monsters, but you all have some real dangers that make me very watchful, even in winter. Tftc
Boy this one tested my legs. Some real scrambling involved on the way up. Given that I didn't feel like retracing my steps after finding the cache I took the riskier and definitely illegal option. My legs thanked me and I thank you g_ordo for helping me fill a D/T slot.
I love an ammo case cache! What I don't love however is how trashed this place is - so much rubbish! Nice cache though! Just a pitty people can't have more respect for our environment.
While up in the area we spied this cache with the great looking D/T combo so we had to make sure we checked it out.
After parking nearby we set out on the journey, what a fantastic old bridge we passed under, the construction and engineering is fantastic.
The new one is so boring compared to it.
This was a good way to see the old and the new here.
Thanks g_ordo for the cache and showing us this brilliant spot.

As the rain had stopped we spotted this one on the way back. As we were already on the correct road for parking having just done the nearby earth cache we parked near the lovely old stone bridge and followed the track to GZ. Some rubbish and old furniture has been dump under the road bridge and in the head we left the track to make our way up the slope. A quick find was had of the nice sized ammo can. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.
Catching up on a few late logs (something not that unusual for me). As always, I enjoyed the journey to find the cache, mostly I have been in the company of Team Crackers, maccamob, alansee and the Coffee's, but occasionally I have gone out solo to soak in the solitude of being out in the fresh air.
Thanks g_ordo for placing this cache.

Coming home from South Australia with micaparamedic we thought we would try our luck with this one as we have passed it by so many times.
We parked and walked toward GZ were micaparamedic had to assist a trail bike rider that had came to grief and looked like he had a broken ankle.
After that we continued to GZ and after catching our breaths we happily added our names to the log.
Many thanks g_ordo for the challenge and the great sized cache.

We made the trip across from Cranbourne to be at Intervening Days V111 in Melton, so came a little earlier and found this cache.
I sat this one out as I can't handle anything hilly, so Kez, Rob & Jan found and logged this cache.
Thanks for the cache and placement.

Our eighth cache of the day with mcsee&petal before attending the Intervening Days event down the road. Coming here brought back memories of our younger days, before the freeway, when this was the main road through here. We headed off for this cache from our parking spot at the other bridge cache here. As we reached the lowest section of the track we saw what I thought was a very recently dumped car, but there were 2 people in the car who appeared to be in a very chemically altered state of consciousness. We decided to give them a wide berth and headed under the bridge and off towards gz. The cache itself was easy to find once we were in the vicinity, and with the log signed and everything tucked away again, we realised that now that the new road is open there is a much quicker way back to the cars that would not have been possible before. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

Heading to Melton for an afternoon Birthday Party and naturally we done some caching along the way.
Stopped at the parking spot to have a cuppa. Mr Tyred n Cranky decided to stay and make the drinks while we went off to locate this hide. Must say that the walk to it was further than I expected but it was an enjoyable one. At the end of our walk and getting close to the hide we both looked at each other and thought you gotta be kidding, we gotta go up there. It looked so straight up. Onward we went and made it to the cache which was worth the find. FUF009 jumped when a spider came out.
Going back down was easier and then back to the car for a well deserved cuppa.

Heading down the Melton for a birthday, we decided to take the, now, back road in.
By the time Mrs Tyred n Cranky and myself got to this GZ, the humidity had gotten to us.
after scaling the climb up I made the find quite quick but a dreaded wood spider had taken up home amongst the rocks and gave me a good fright. well it is Halloween day so it was expected.

Up and down. To and fro, then just at the right incline level the cache hiding spot was spied. Tnln, log signed and tftc.
Walked to GZ with our dog Shadow through this interesting location, spoilt by lots of rubbish dumped along the way. At GZ we had to hunt around for a bit before we got to the right level to spot what was an easy hide. Signed log at 3:15pm. I think this is the biggest ammo tin I've seen.

SOB SOB SIGH.... Ive just dropped my first-born off to uni-living nearby Although in super proud that she has come this far, I shed more than a tear as I drove away.... Without her
We come from South Gippsland, so it quite a drive to come see her... I am sad...
Something to cheer me up... a GEO-CACHE... or 10!
I saw a few caches just off the freeway on my way home... Wanting to stall on this side of the city so that I didnt get stuck in the Monash carpark I thought it would make the perfect little trail
I pulled up on the freeway and decided from previous logs that I needed a different place of attack! New adventure underway and cache was soon in hand...
Thanks G ordo for this little stop on my way home :)

Found by Mary & David at 1555. We've been tempted by this cache every time we've driven past since it was published. In that time, the new bridge has been completed and is now a well-established part of any journey between Melton and Bacchus Marsh or beyond. Our return from today's Birthday Event at Ballan provided the perfect opportunity to finally tackle it. Didn't take David too long to make his way to GZ for a quick find. Stopped to admire the view across to the new/current bridge, then headed back to the car park. There we met WazzaAndWenches for the second time today. A quick chat, and we were on our way home again. Our thanks to g_ordo.
I have driven past this cache many times even before the new freeway and looked longingly in it's direction. So close yet so far. Today was the day. I was even able to drive the geomobile down under the bridge and along the creek bed. Thanks for the adventure and an excellent sized find. +1 fav point added
Finally got to do some bush bashing today !! These are my favourite types of cachesto hunt. There's nothing like wandering the bush looking for a cache. It gets the heart pumping, especially in snake season... A great little walk, topped off by my fave cache container. TFTC g_ordo.
I've come to the conclusion that the geokids should not be in charge of the GPS.

or the hardest way to get to a cache - they will.
Found it & made 16 out of 17 for the day.

a great little drive under the bridge in the 4wd drives ran into couple of blokes on quad bikes who had been cutting up a nearby fallen tree. froglady tackled the hill and found a rare cache container log was signed and on to the next in the company od Ogrebeast dbelco and Froglady TFTC
Out caching with TR!, Frog_Lady and Ogrebeast.
Must do cache as we were in the area. Nice quiet area for a cache. Enjoyed the walk up. TFTC

Double double toil and trouble, went the long way and twice as far as needed, but enjoyed the walk under the bridge and along the track. Love an ammo so fav point. TFTC sorceysal.
Finally had the perfect day to try this one again. Not too hot, not wet underfoot, fully recovered from my sprained ankle and BJ recovered from his hip/back issues. It certainly tested out all of the aforementioned body parts and I had to leave BJ behind for his own safety and mine. TN, left a pathtag. Ready for a nanna nap after this one
Found this cache as the final cache for my day around Melton. I wanted this cache because it filled a D/T matrix square that was blank. It also helps fulfil a NZ challenge cache that I am doing currently.
I had a very interesting adventure around here. I didn't realise that the new motorway had opened and ended up having to backtrack to locate the entrance for this cache. As I went down the hill - I surprised a muggle family that was investigating the other cache around (I wasn't sure if they were cachers but obviously not from the later conversation). I then went and parked in the carpark and they came and pleaded innocent to any wrongdoing while admitting they were smoking weed! (I am not sure how both these sentences can be true but I wasn't judging them - they also thought I might have been with the police). As I started to head down to the cache I met another couple who had driven their car down under the highway. I said hello to them and got glared at so just went "I am looking for something around here - see you later" and continued onto the cache. Like a previous finder has said that last 58m was brutal. I also went further than I needed to as I had got the distances slightly wrong. Anyway the cache was located and the log signed but I didn't swap anything today. Of note the ziplock bag may need replacing at some stage but I didn't have one with me. The cache is bone dry and safe and sound in its hide.
Thanks for the cache g_ordo and for providing me another D/T matrix square filled in.

Off in the sunshine to find some caches not too close to home: we'll save the nearer ones for next month, eh.
For such a short distance from the nearby cache, that was one convoluted walk. But quite fun, and thankfully not too muddy after the overnight rain. And the reward? A nice big ammo can is always a sight to behold. Cheers, g_ordo.
With the log signed and the traffic light, I took the shorter option to get back to the car.

Had to do a maintenance check on my cache at the bridge and I have been wanting to do this one for quite some time. As the weather was now free of wriggling things, I decided today was the day. This was probably the hardest cache I have done. I took the long way in and then when my gps said 56 metres north, that meant straight up the hill.
The track was really slippery after the recent rain and I fell a few times and soon got covered in mud. Since I was already on my way up decided to keep going. I would not normally do these type of caches but silly me did not check the terrain rating before leaving. Eventually found the cache and signed the log. Now I have to go home and get changed before heading to Melton. I took the quick way back and was soon on my way.
Thanks for the challenge g_ordo, I am quite proud of myself that I was actually able to achieve the signing off on this one.
I have to give it a fave for all my and your effort.
