Came up here today. The trees on the corner have all been felled.

Walked up the hill from "Now that's a view". This cache was a quick find in the mist. TFTC.

Stunning weather and views today, cheers

24-Oct-20
Had a stunning day driving around some of the peninsular. Great weather and some amazing views, and roads! Most finds were straight forward, but sadly noted many lonely caches. TFTC

10-Oct-20
Nicely placed... good place to enjoy a day in Banks Peninsula

06-Oct-20
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.

06-Oct-20
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...

There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!

1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...

After the police moved us on from McLeans Island, we decided to head south-east. There are lots of interesting caches to visit in the area, including a puzzle trail, Canterbury CANZ and the Little River Ad Lab... We stopped for this hide along the way. A straightforward find - Thanks richbritty and Graemey. TFTC.

06-Oct-20
After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with EyeSpyBen we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

A quick find here with Ilmari the Red. TFTC!

Today we took the "scenic route" to Akaroa. I *hadn't* been advised that that meant lots of steep, narrow, and precarious cliff-edge roads... but I did survive, and the views were often great... maybe even worth it!

"Corner Pine View": A quick roadside find. TFTC!

Our last day on the Banks Peninsula, but also our last real holiday in NZ. Tomorrow we have to bring the camper back to Christchurch. But this day we use the camper to get to a top on the peninsula. We took the track to Tumbledown Bays. It was very beautiful and we took lots of pictures on the way. Before we started the hike, we found this cache first. Thanks for pointing out the view and placing this cache!

Heading home after a great day running around Toby roads to Lands Beginning and Lands End. Big intersection here so heaps of parking while tagging this one.
Its Saturday - day three - Little River - Akaroa today. Lets go exploring.

Its Waitangi Day - day one of a five day weekend exploring the amazing Canterbury, with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby, Jack and Jill. Two days Rangiora, a day in Lyttleton and 2 days in Banks Peninsula. I got call from The Seagnoid, hes taking a long weekend. Lets go to the West Coast! Lets Go!! but maybe not the West Coast - rain on the way. So lets go to Canterbury. We leave for Christchurch Tuesday evening after picking up The Seagnoid after work. We make camp for the night at Amberly. Today its off to Rangiora for a cycle trip.

09-Feb-19
Major intersection. We have just come from Land's end and are heading downhill to bed. Tomorrow we come back up here and head out the other way...

Down to Christchurch with Taybeedragon, Zara and Toby for a five day weekend starting Waitangi Day (which this year fell on a Wednesday. I reckon half the country would have been taking 5 day weekends!). A couple of days in Rangiora. We did two cycle trails there - having two vehicles makes it so easy. One of those cycle trails was fifty caches. Fifty caches in one day on a bicycle! Then a day in Lyttelton and couple of days exploring the back roads around Akaroa. Darn close to two hundred caches in all. Dropped off a lot of path tags along the way, especially if the cache was nice and dry

06-Feb-19
Found it

06-May-18
#15589. We got to this major intersection, and found ample parking. After a short walk across the road, the cache was quickly spotted in the obvious spot. TFTC.

06-May-18
The weather forecast for Sunday was good so StreetWalker and I planned a day exploring the scenic southern route from Little River to Wainui.
As we approached GZ, we were both focused on a particular feature, and yes, there was the cache. Now for a wee detour down to Magnet and Tumbledown bays. TFTC.

30-Apr-18
I dropped our daughter off at work in Wainui this morning and took the opportunity to grab a few caches in the hills above. Actually that was 22 caches, 5 cache types, in 5 hours. At the end of it the only dry item of clothing I was wearing was my woolly hat (inside the hood of my jacket). I stopped at Little River for a pie and a hot chocolate, after getting dry and changing my clothes!

No view today, corner pine or otherwise! As a result of the cloud base being below the elevation here the trees were holding a lot of water. As a result of the wind the trees were also releasing a lot of moisture! I had thought at an earlier cache that I couldn't get any wetter - I was wrong.
TFTC Cool

Ladies expedition to the Southern Bays with Jude_E & busy paws.
We really felt as if we were getting somewhere, at this elevation. Cache took longer than it should have to find but we got there in the end.
Thanks for placing and maintaining the cache, richbritty and Graemey.

We decided to head over to the Peninsula with daughter for a bit of caching for the day. It was really windy!! In some spots, it felt like we are going to be blown away. Luckily, we were only blown away by the fun we were having!! Big Grin Great day, and a big thank you to all the CO for placing and maintaining the caches along our route!!!

I hadn't had a propper big geocaching day since probably before the baby was born - somehow Bethany doesn't seem to enjoy geocaching as much as I do! Razz It's always slower with nowhere near as many finds!! So a plan was hatched to get my fix - mum and I would go out caching, and baby would have some daddy bonding time!! Haha! However even though this plan was hatched at the beginning of the year, it's taken us till April to execute as mum is always busy!

So finally today was the day. A bit of a late start, and we had to be home before dinner, but still managed to get 46 caches! A few DNF, but heaps of kms travelled! Smile Nice to make some steps towards clearing a little more of my closest 80km to home PQ out!

Took much longer than it should have - my eyes were looking at the wrong height!

TFTC!! Smile

23-Mar-17

29-Aug-15
Chelzea and I were on a trip around this part of the peninsula cleaning up the area of caches. We searched a good while for this one in the biting wind but no luck in the most obvious place as per the picture and anywhere close by. Although not usual for us we did had a spare container and GZ being in the middle of nowhere we left it in "the spot" and contacted CO who is happy with the replacement.

29-Aug-15
Found with Sevren.tftc

05-Jul-15
Like the previous entry we too found where it would have been but no sign of the cache, a pity as it would have been a good hide.

30-May-15
Had a decnt search. Think I were in the right place judging by the hint, title and photos. Maybe another time.

16-Jan-15
Found damage just a ground in front of corner pine. Log too wet to sign. Place back in front or corner pine

Yip pine views here. Cache dripping wet as container has a hole in it. Cheers for the cache as it was the 2nd for the day and a wee ticky tour round the area.

I spent one of my worst nights ever nearby this spot. We parked the car for a sleep when such a strong storm came up that I was afraid to be pushed over the edge with the car! I never forget this spot.

TFTC SL Very wet up here today. Took a bit of finding as I had the wrong clues for this one - then realising my mistake found it with out too much fuss !!

21-Sep-13
I made a mad dash this way earlier in the week for a FTF over the hill in Wainui. I only had a limited amout of time and ended up grabbing only one of the two published. I was happy with that effort. As the week progressed a plan was hatched. I thought I could get a half day on Friday afternoon but more caches were published and a few hours wouldn't do it justice. I consulted with Mrs TheWanglers and threw a couple of 'too good to pass up' offers for a Saturday mornings adventure. The plan was set in motion. We headed out at 7.30 am and found this one at 8.26am. We started to listen to the Americas Cup race couldn't believe the conditions and we had great reception on the AM radio station. Fog and no wind, we only need one more race. I was glad I had 3G cover at GZ and had to research the hint and after a bit of a search I came up trumps with the cache. Duh, read the title.
This was 2 of 7 for the mornings FTF adventure.
Thanks for the cache.

I have long had the caches up and over the hill from Little River in my sights. But it was a case of being in the area when both the sun and the moon were in the correct points in the sky. Today, all 3 requirements aligned perfectly. This was the 2nd cache found as I headed uphill. Nice hide. Thanks for the cache.

04-Aug-13
Fantastic spot for a cache. Nice hide. Thanks heaps for bringing us up here - our first time along this road.

24-May-13
I think the road to this cache is more suited to a Rally Driver rather than a Formula 1 Driver but loved it - the vehicle GPS didn't want us to go it and kept trying to get us to turn around or go back down the less fun roads to the highway! First time up here and would come again. Fabulous mini-eco system spotted in one of these pine trees. TFTC

01-Feb-13
This can be one of the most miserable places on the planet. Today it was lovely and warm, sunny with a pleasant breeze, a thoroughly enjoyable spot. I loved the way a wee micro ecosystem is developing here.
Cheers for a nicely placed cache on the way home from Kayaking.

Well our Montana took us right to the tree and it was a very conveniently placed cache. The car didn't even get dirty!! Really enjoyed the trip. Thank you.

27-Jul-12
The wind was so cold and bitter that I could only stay for a few minutes. Long way to come for a micro with bad coords and a clue that fits everything.
