Took the ferry over from Wgtn, on our way to Kaikoura, stopped at the Ward Boulders and noticed the cache. We found the cache while done beachcombers were metal detecting in the sand. I bet we had more success. Dried out the log and Replaced the ripped baggie. TFTC
On a road trip with Net61 exploring Kaikoura and finding as many caches as we can. We found this cache after extending our search area. TFTC
Parked overnight at the nearby motorhome spot, and wandered over before making a quick find, TFTC
Having been on call all weekend I was keen for some exercise. In all did a 7 km walk along the beach followed by a swim to cool off. Encountered a dozen seals lazing around on the sand and rocks at the southern end. What a magic place and no other human beings to be seen. Happy. Returned to a quick find here. Cache showing some wear and tear but otherwise all fine. Thanks for the smiley
Found on our way for a walk to the boulders. Staying the night here and hoping to see some dolphins tomorrow morning. TFTC
6 January 2024 14:20 TFTC bumandworker for placing this cache, number for me. A lunchtime rest stop, managed to keep the seagulls at bay!
Ever so slowly a by now unacceptable amount of new caches appeared on the map around and South of Blenheim. That and a DNF that needed rectifying since 2018. Not that we never travelled, we just never stopped there lately. With spring in the air and after having been struck down by a nasty bug for a while we made a plan. Starting at Ward we planned to work our way back up. Prioritising to pick it up again another day where we left it at dark.
This wasn't planned as our first cache for the day but Needle Rock anticipation wasn't a go as getting wet wasn't an option (a freezing strong wind) at day's start and the tide was all wrong. A quick find here and after some cache maintenance this one is good as new again. Bum cache #1537. Thank you bumandworker for getting us to the end of the road

It's been an age since we headed over the hill for a caching foray in Marlborough and with other recent priorities slowly abating it was time to take a break and get out and about again.
This was a quick find but the log was too wet and slimy to sign. Fortunately we had some replacements with us so we left some waterproof paper in a new snaplock bag.
Thank you bumandworker.

Thank you bumandworker.
Unfortunately the container was half full of water and the log saturated.
Also the cache is a bit further that 2 meters from the sign.

Our last night camping here at POP. Walked to the Earth cache and stopped on way back to sign log. Thanks for this cache bumandworker.
After this mornings buzz round the Seddon area on Bumblebee, I brought the teenager out here for the 2 hour walk on the squishy pebbles. Easy find here after that. The container is starting to get a bit brittle but all good otherwise.
Found a new spot to stay in motorhome. Saw there are some caches nearby so geopup Finn and I went hunting.TFTC
Stayed the night here on our camper, what a magical place to park up & even better that there's a cache here - TFTC
First one of eight caches located today between Ward Beach and Kaikoura, after staying the night at this beach. Great spot! However very windy when I was signing for the cache. Took a brief moment to spot. #4777. TFTC.
Bit late logging, sorry! Lovely windswept beach, cache in good order. TFTC b&w
Its windy and rough today but very interesting place. Will have to come back when tge weather settles a bit. Thanks for the placement
A grey wet ol day...but I am sure it would very picturesque on a more favourable day..found and signed thanks
Came to collect the mystery but done enough walking today so do another day. Nice to get this one though.
Its a sunny day down here, but the wind is up. A couple of vehicles here with surfing boards but I think the wind is too strong and not much surf. We have just come back from a walk to The Needle and checking out all the seals. Got back here at 12.30 for a quick snag and tag and sanitise with my handy-dandy wipes here before residing in Toby for lunch. Enjoyed our walk today.
The original plan was to walk Lake Chalis with Raphael, my temporary house guest. But with the rain front coming up from the south we changed plans and came to Ward Beach. Stopped in on TS on the way through Blenheim to pick up my wayward GPS and we are off with packed lunches and handy dandy wipes and gloves, the latest addition to my caching kit.

I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

Found yesterday but had no reception to log it till now. It’s a great beach if you like exploring rocks
Was at the Wairau river mouth for a couple of days and got talking to another motorhomer and he said to head out to Ward beach so we did . Wow nice spot and will be back sometime for a more lengthy stay. Cheers
Found when I arrived here before walking along the beach to the earthcache TFTC bumandworker
It was good to break up a long drive by having lunch here and making the short walk to have a look at the boulders. The cache was further away from the hint object than I expected it to be but I wasn't unduly slow in finding it.
Found on our return journey north to Papamoa and decided to overnight at the nearby NZMCA camp. No problem with the find TFTC.
What a beaut little spot!!!! Stopped here for lunch and explored all the rocks and boulders. We will be coming back here again, just loved it.
A little detour to look at the earthcache and discovered this little gem to add to my list of "not found for at least 6 months". Thanks for the hide
First visit to Ward Beach since the quake to see the changes and get some caches. A stunning day with no wind, and this cache to start off with before heading off to explore. Tftc.
We often stay here in our motorhome , a lovely spot so will have to give it a favourite , cache was a bit wet , tried to dry it out could do with some new paper sometime. TFTC.
The first of several planned adventures down the East coast for Team Walker NZ today. A stunning Spring day which was a welcome relief after a week of rain! Headed as far as Ward Beach today but we are aiming to get to the 'end of the road' in the next few weeks before 'the end of the road' shifts A QEF here and off to check out the changes to the beach post-quake. So fascinating! TFTC
Tftc. Didn't sign the log as the paper was soaked. Couldn't get our pencil to work.
Quick grab while having a looksy how ward beach has changed since the last time we where here. TFTC
Found while in the area. Great beach to see the aftermath of the Nov 16 earthquake. TFTC
Easy find, quiet down here today and a bit cool for this time of year. TFTC.
Found with NZDi. Today is International Earthcache Day and a souvenir is up for grabs, and as my only unfound earthcache in Marlborough is capperz’ Emerging boulder Earthcache, there was only going to be one place I was going to cache today and that is the Ward District.
Fortunately this area had been neglected by us in the past so we decided to make a day of it, despite the weather forecast, and have a go at clearing the area. So with 21 caches saved as a pocket query into the phone and backup GPS we packed a picnic lunch and headed for places south.
Unfortunately we didn’t achieve our target as a high tide and spring river flows in the Flaxbourne River prevented us from crossing and getting Ward River Bridge and Needle Rock Beach Walk along with a DNF at another cache, so we ended up with 18 for the day, which we were happy with.
After parking nearby and watching one of the Burkett cray boats launch, we had a QEF on this cache before heading up the beach for the main order of the day.

Found with Kiwimykl while out geocaching in the Flaxbourne District. Refer to his log for details.

Despite the unpredictable forecast, fefe.adrien and I visited Ward beach at the low tide.
Surprising place without people, a lovely walk.
We signed with our team name : Lekiprokos

Ninalila and I choose to visit this place because of the Earthcache not far from here.
It was a really good surprise, and very interesting.
On our way back we search this cache, easy one.
We signed the logbook with our team name : lekiprokos
thank you for the cache and the discovery

I was with paddle Chick when she found this cache unfortunately I wasn't caching then so today while we were doing other caches close by I had to get it. The tide was in to far to get the other ones maybe next time .Thanks for the cache .Bumandworker .
Our previous cache bought us to this area so we came to the beach and low and behold found a cache.

We found this after a walk along the beach to see the boulders and a couple of seals. TFTC

Had to check out the beach, arrived at low tide to find the Paua laughing at us for not coming prepared for a dive around the rocks.

Out for a drive despite the weather starting to pack in... Its holding ok now - but can't trust it for long - so won't be doing any of the longer walks. Parked nearby on the grass and grabbed this cache without being noticed by the 3 cars down by the beach. All in good order with a new dry log - and grabbed TB inside.

Off on the beginning an adventure with B&W today.
Called in here to do some maintenance so I got to log a find too.
My first time down this road. What a wee gem. I'll now have to return to do the other caches.
Not as far from the Main road as I had thought.
Left a TB.

Oh poop.....we drove past here on Christmas eve. Will be back hope fully in the next month
The log was wet. Cache easy to find. Happy to tick off after the more difficult one at the beach
Unfortunately the log at this cache had become soaking wet so we couldn't sign it - we didn't have anything in the car to replace it with (will keep in mind for next time we head out caching, but a fantastic spot regardless.
The log book requires replacing - I didn't have anything on me that I could use sorry!
Dad made the find. Enjoying our wild winter's day family adventure.

Quite a few people down here today enjoying the glorious day. - - Well one of those days that the salt works would call glorious, farmers might have another word for it. TFTC.
We had planned a caching trip to Mt Patriach today, but with a large fire up the Onamalutu and the road closed, plans had to change. Capperz and I decided to head to Kaikoura and clear up some areas just off the main road that he hadn't managed to get to yet. We had some light rain overnight, and the day dawned calm and cold helping those getting the fire under control. There was also a light dusting of snow on the tops of nearby hills, from around 1400m up. We headed south, caching along the way and filling up the map with yellow smiles. There was a strong southerly blowing along the coast, with rough seas and cooler temperature. Many miles covered, many caches found and a very good day out exploring.
This was our first cache for the day, and due to the rough seas and high tide we didn't venture further to the other 2 nearby caches. They can wait for a nicer day and better conditions.

The original plan for this Waitangi Day was to climb up Mount Patriarch after a tramping and biking combo. The talk for most of the week had been around the assumption that Friday was that, then I was going to head down the line to Kaikoura on the Saturday and come back on the Sunday.
The best laid plans of mice and men and all that.
Dry conditions and this weeks fires along North Bank Road have led to it being closed to traffic for the next few days so new plans must be made. Couldn't really sit around doing nothing with a day off and no plan could I?
Spoke to G H 6 7 1 0 and hew was keen for a day trip down the line to Kaikoura as long as we got back today ready for wedding anniversary tomorrow, no worries. I plugged in 76 caches into the G P S ; 5 from four caches and 71 from b&w, seriously. I enjoy finding caches at the end of the day and all the ones we found today were well maintained; one was even duplicated, more on that later.
The weather was a cool, strong Southerly breeze after rain in the night cooled things down a little and snow appeared atop the higher Nelson ranges and the Kaikoura Ranges too, looked good though.

This was first up after I've already found all Ward's caches in previous trips. Sea too far in to attempt the nearby bridge one, and too cold/lazy to go to Chancet Rocks cache
