Thank you for the cache. Will have to work out the coords for the other cache and come back another day.

Nice stroll, with a waterhole in view below.

15-Mar-23
OCW with EverestHigh for the afternoon to collect a few caches in the area. We made our way along to the end of bumpy gravel road with many potholes lucky were in the ute. At the end made our way along a track full of large rocks which made the going slow as we descended but not for EH he managed to negotiate it better. Eventually we had to cut in for a bit of bush bash until we were near GZ. We realised that the cache was obviously below us which GH managed to retrieve the cache for our signings . Yes, indeed the views were spectacular . TFTC bikerbuddy

After a hot morning parkrun at East Richmond parkrun, I had set myself a group of hides that got my interest. But as I am not a good puzzle person I had a great deal of assistance in locating the other cache associated with this hide.
By the time I made my approach, the temperature had climbed noticeably, and was for sure well over 30. But it wasn’t a long walk to arrive at this location, which was splashed with some interesting rocks! The cache was pretty conspicuous to an experienced cacher and was found quickly. I opened the cage and took a good look at the puzzle within and was glad that I had been assisted in the location of the mystery cache attached to this hide. Signed the log and replaced then moved on to what was going to be a very hot adventure to the next hide!

Made our way down to knock off a few caches down here, about 15m north of the cache was where I was stung up to at least 5 times by wasps when I brushed past their nest. I needed to sit down afterwards, while Brewmaker made the find.

04-Feb-23
After abandoning an attempt on the D4.5 nearby we ended up close to this one. This time it was a reasonably easy hike to GZ, apart from MC getting stung by the swaps. A good hide was found behind very well placed SPOR. We grabbed the info needed for Waterhole and moved one - away from the wasps this time. Have a FP. TFTC

22-Aug-22
We are on another short (four day) caching holiday in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, staying for three nights in a park cabin at the Ingenia Nepean River BIG4 Holiday Park at Emu Plains. Hoping to collect the latest GFA Puzzle, Wherigo, and Letterbox caches that have appeared around Luddenham & Wallacia since our last visit to the area, and will have a go at the new GFA Adventure Lab. Will also be returning to the lower Blue Mountains to visit some previously unexplored caching locations, revisiting areas around Penrith & suburbs that have new or replaced caches, and maybe finish with a visit to the Londonderry area. Photos will be uploaded to some logs on our return to home base.

Today is the last day of the holiday and we are heading for home, but will go via Mulgoa Road to Warragamba, to collect a newly published Adventure Lab near Mulgoa and some other previously missed caches along the way, then a stop-off at Glenmore Park for a previously solved new Puzzle cache, before hitting the expressway to home. This was the 7th of 9 finds for the day (day 4), and 63rd find of the holiday.

We have driven past the turnoff to this small cluster of higher terrain caches many times on our holiday trips out to Warragamba, so decided to stop for a quick look today. Decided to give this lower rated 3 star one a go, parking the geomobile in the parking area, then heading down the steep track to GZ. The track was obviously once a road, but it's current condition suggests it's been many years since it carried any vehicular traffic.

Soon arrived at GZ and made a nice quick find of the generously sized classic caching container. Signed the good sized logbook, swapped some cards (out) for some coloured dominos and a character figurine (in), noted down the required information for the associated Mystery cache, then replaced everything as it had been found.

We enjoyed the bushwalk, and the views down into the gorge & pool, so giving the cache a Favourite point. Hopefully we will return for the Mystery cache at some stage, and maybe even have a closer look at those nearby higher terrain caches. TFTC bikerbuddy,

Found It!
I was aiming for this to be my 18,000th cache but I mis-counted and it ended up being number 17999. A nice little walk and some great views from GZ, excellent spot for a cache! I found the cache after a short search then sat down to work out the puzzle for the other cache.

Tftc - we went bush and slipped onwards down the hill. Made the mistake of checking the coords from the first cache in the checker of the mystery cache. DOH - what was I thinking. Thank heavens Geoson put me on the right path (with a small chuckle).

Tftc - easy find hard to get down with leaf litter but now off to the next waypoint Smile

I had been planning a trip out this way a few days ago but work commitments put a stop to it. However, a good run at the vaccination clinic meant that I was back on the road earlier than planned today and I thought I'd put the time to use picking up the information I needed here for a return some other day.

Google insists that I could drive right down to this cache, and while there are a few specialist vehicles and drivers for whom that may be true I felt the Forester could stay in the carpark. Good moderate exercise to start the afternoon led me straight to an easy find. There's always interesting things in ammo cans so I had a rifle (not sorry) through before setting to work on the puzzle. It didn't take long to put the solution together so I packed the cache away and headed on to the next waypoint.

After attending the nearby event, Tardis0061 and I joined up to tackle some interesting caches in the area. Have been looking at this and its puzzle companion for quite some time but don't often make it to this neck of the woods. Lured here today by an event and a 5/5, so of course I was going to take the opportunity for the pleasant detour. Loved the views, container and the puzzle. Gets a FP!

Stop number 7 for the morning. The geopups love the caches in these areas where they can run to their hearts content. Once we were at the right level it was a quick find. A read of the story and the poem before signing the log and heading back up to the path to calculate our next stop. TFTC.

A quick ride out to Wallacia with no traffic about on Christmas morning.
After collecting the nearby 5/5 I made a quick dash down to this cache and made a quick find. Solved the puzzle and made another dash to WP1 of the puzzle to collect the clue.
I needed to get back for breakfast so decided to head back up.
The cache is in good condition and well hidden.

What a great spot. Took me a couple of reads of the poem on the back to figure out what to do for the puzzle. Once I saw where it was, I knew I would have to come back another time as I was fast running out of daylight. TFTC.

Out on an awesome geo-adventure with marchaj and all the kids in tow. Targeted this one and it's related puzzle for today and in usual bikerbuddy fashion this did not disappoint. Took a little while to find the correct level but had fun doing it. Cache in good condition. Adults had fun interpreting the clue book and afterwards we made a day of it and went swimming . Thanks bikerbuddy. Our first time here, but won't be our last.

An extra day—

Like the painting’s fifth cow,
who looks out directly,
straight toward you,
from inside her black and white spots.

An extra day—

Accidental, surely:
the made calendar stumbling over the real
as a drunk trips over a threshold
too low to see.

An extra day—

With a second cup of black coffee.
A friendly but businesslike phone call.
A mailed-back package.
Some extra work, but not too much—
just one day’s worth, exactly.
****By Jane Hirshfield***

Well this leap day has particular significance for team Marchaj as it meant we completed the ‘fill the calendar challenge’. Woohoo!!!
We decided to team up with team glennus for a day out and after some consideration we decided that a biker buddy cache was most likely to guarantee a good day out. We definitely chose well with this one and after picking up the cache and clue we headed off for an attempt at the Waterhole mystery. Unfortunately recent rains had made it too hard to locate (under water we think) so will have to return another day. Great location though and we enjoyed a lovely swim and had the place to ourselves. In Sydney from Adelaide for a holiday and decided to get out of the suburbs and go bush

This was the 1st cache of 3 found today
Parked at the nominates parking spot and made my way down the rocky trail. After a bit of bush bashing it didn’t take long to find the well concealed ammo can. Log signed and worked out the riddle for the puzzle cache. Took in the views and made my way down to the bottom

#5800 (3 of 3 today)

Decided to head out west for today’s finds, which will include my next milestone.
But which caches to grab? I thought I’d clean up a few of **The Booos** hides I hadn’t nabbed yet in their *Groundspeak Edition Of A Song By...* series.

After two easy finds the question was, which one next? Decided on one with a short walk and bush bash...
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Decided on this one for my milestone. Not too sure of the other two traditionals nearby...
Easy enough walk to GZ despite some areas being a little washed out.

Closing in on GZ I assumed the likely hide, and getting there saw I was spot on.
Also saw a cache unhidden with its lid unattached.

Luckily all was good inside, except for a plump spider sitting on the log book. Removed the spider and reattached the lid with no problems.

Completed signing duties and then looked at the puzzle for the CO’s other nearby cache. Quickly got a logical answer. Decided though that it would be a find for another day.

Replaced everything and rehid. Then back to *The Hademobile*.
Good choice of cache for the milestone.
Gets a favourite despite the spider!

#1998 met alnic39 at the car park and started the walk down to this cache slowly made our way down the track till we got to the spot to leave the 4WD track on go into the bush. Worked our way down from layer, check all the likely places, then the next layer & then do the same at the next layer. Soon got to the correct layer and the cache was found.

Signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache bikerbuddy

A year or so ago, when we were still on our L plates for caching, we DNFed this cache. Dan was passing by today, so he turned down the road and this time followed the main trail down the hill. The etrex eventually pointed to a geotrail and when only 10m away it suddenly hooked left. He ignored it and followed the trail, looking at any likely spot. He came back to the etrex which was going red in the face from frantically pointing downhill. All right, I'll go down there and sure enough soon had CIH. The etrex has such a good poker face. We wish we could tell when it is serious and when it tries to make us walk all over the place.
Now, the puzzle. Dan is usually good at maths puzzles. But this had maths and words. After trying a few Taylor series expansions and solving some second order differential equations, Dan went back to basics and finally had coords for the next cache. TFTC and the puzzle.

Another great morning for caching. I was still trying to find my feet when i went side ways on my ankles then on my butt down a small bolder. All class when it comes to bushwalking! But BB found quick enough. We soon had the clue sorted for the next part but i didnt feel like a dip, so more of a good reason to come back again to finish. Found 4/8

we arrived at the car park ready for an adventure and that's certainly what we got from this area. after last nights rain even the fire trail was an exercise in cautious steps as we considered if it was navigable for most 4WD (we decided some modifications would be needed before my girl attempted it). we found this cache ok and worked out the poem for the nearby mystery co-ords although we didn't get to that GZ today. it will be no hardship to come back later in the year or a 2nd crack at that considering how pretty this whole area is other than the rubbish. we practiced some CITO but realistically it needs a group effort to make any difference. Found with the_garbageman, BillHill531 and the Mighty Minions or a day trip to Sydney finding a bunch of rare combo caches with high D or T or both. We successfully found all eight of our attempted caches and had one of the greatest caching adventure days ever.
This was our second stop. From the lookout we followed the track down to this cache. We ended up on three different levels and BillHill made the find as he was on the right one. Figured out the puzzle and followed the directions inside.
Thanks for the walk, climb and cache!

Down from the Central Coast for a day of caching around the junction of the Warragamba and Nepean Rivers, team novo, lance91 and I headed down the hill to this one in preparation for doing the Waterhole cache. lance91 soon spotted the good old ammo can and the treasures within, including the puzzle book with the poem which I deciphered.

With the coordinates of the Waterhole waypoint determined, we packed everything away and headed down to the water.

Many thanks for this hide in a beautiful area.

Out today with C4 caching buddies barefootjeff and Lance91 for a day of epic caches in the Warragamba Park/ Nortons Basin area. We had just completed the two Dilly Boys "Find me if you can" caches nearby before a spot of lunch up top with a view, not far from this one in fact. Cache was spotted fairly quickly even though it is well hidden. What a marvelous stash in there!

We are here of course to get started on the Waterhole cache, a nearby 2/4. We are all chasing 2/4 caches in the 200km (or so) radius of the central coast for a challenge up that way so we got stuck right into this field puzzle. With three heads working on it we were able to pitch a few good ideas around until Jeff finally got the wheels turning in the right direction. Numbers looked great so off we go to "Waterhole". Looking forward to this one ..I think ha (rumor has it that it *could* be under water). Anyway, cheers bikerbuddy for the "good 'ol fashioned ammo can in the bush" here. Cache and log in excellent condish. We all had a flip thru the log and read the entries. No one seems to log like this anymore. Fun having a read thru.

Gotta love an ammo can in the bush! I like the puzzle, we (Jeff) soon had it worked out and off down the trail to the Waterhole. Dropped Christmas Spirit TB and traded some geocaching.com swag for a kickass 2006 sudoku book which i know Ausfeet back home will enjoy. Tftc Bikerbuddy!

After a two-point-five hour drive from the ACT, we found this at about 0810. TikvaNZ did the driving northwards, while later on I did some driving.
At GZ we looked in a few places before the GPSr settled. Eventually we both saw that we were still about 9m from the real GZ. Soon after correcting our course we had CIH. When I saw the contents I chuckled. I was very familiar with the key item in the cache, and I knew what to do to get the coords for the first stage of Waterhole.

19/11/16. 4:48 PM. Cache #4416.
6th of 10 finds (& 1 DNF) - Mulgoa, Silverdale & Wallacia

Today I thought I'd continue where I left off last weekend and clear more of Mulgoa, then see where I'd get to after that.

I was walking back up the track from finding "Find me if you can #8" and then realised that the other caches in Warragamba Park were best accessed on foot as well. I read the instructions of "Waterhole" next and then realised that this one would need to be my next target,

I followed the trail down hill and then after the trail turned, I had to continue in the same line, now a downhill bush bash in light bush. A bit of a scramble in places. Checked the hint and had to keep going until I got to a feature that suited. And from there, got a pretty easy find after that.

After signing the log, I had to check out the poem for "Waterhole". OK, I knew what I had to do here. I soon had a plausible WP1 location for "Waterhole", however as the day was getting long, that looked like too big an adventure for today.

So now I only had 6 unfounds in Mulgoa: "Waterhole" and 2 "Nepean Gorge" caches which I had decided needed to be adventured on some other day, "Mulgoa Irrigation" (disabled), "Booo's Hide" (missing) and "Gotta Catch Them All #20 (only halfway through the series).

I unchecked a filter on my app to see what lay beyond Penrith council. "Find me if you can # 9" was just beyond the border and looked like a doable walk from here, so I headed there next. TFTC.

Out with JJCC for a cache run. In the area again this morning with some spare time so we decided to head out and find this cache with a view of getting the needed information for Approach which we are going to tackle on a later date.

Parking in the parking area up top, we walked down the extremely well worn track. At about 50 metres out we proceeded to bush bash our way down towards GZ and once on the correct level made an easy find of the cache container. With the cache safely in hand, we both signed the log before replacing as found...but not before taking some photos of the clue. The cache container and log are in good condition.

Hadn't done any research on this or it's sister cache before setting out but should have realised that a Bikerbuddy cache is not exactly straight forward! Although this find was easy enough, the sister cache wasn't! Took TB from here and set out for WP1 on the other cache after solving the puzzle... Very clever puzzle. We liked it! TFTC.

We took the fire trail down, and the bush bashed the final bit in to the hide.
The clue book was used and we calculated the coordinates for WP1 for the Waterhole cache.
We then found an easier way back to the trail, isn't that always the case?

Gawd, that is a rugged track down, thank goodness drained dry after the rains ... following the Garmin onto a side trail and to within the GZ ... hmmm, this lil' brown duck ain't goin' over 'there'. Oh, well, return to the main trail to see the view from below. On the return climb, a rethink, oh well, let's look again. A less than gingery clamber had the Cache in hand. All in good order, and the 'clue' noted, but highly unlikely to be used. 'Tis a rugged bit of bushland, bikerbuddy, and thanks for the reason to see. TFTC Smile

When sevabo and I arrives here at the car park and we discussed about that wether we go down or not and we decided to go down and oh we realised that it is more than 3 for terrain so we stuck but we kept going down until the top of cliff, sevabo waited here and I went further down a little bit and it was a very slippery with the leaves scattered until I got here and found the cache. Then I climbed up back on the same routine to the cliff which it is more difficult to climb and met sevabo and I sat for a long while then we walked up the hill puffed and puffed until we reached our car. I went for the drink and oh phew. TFTH.

A day out caching with AMGSARI, the weather was atrocious however we found a few caches and missed out on a couple as well, a great day!!Big GrinBig Grin

Having been here years back I was astonished to see how the "road" down has been degraded by erosion and I suspect four wheel drivers. Being on foot we made our way to the drop off point and then it was down to GZ.

The cache was spotted and retrieved just as the rain began, back up to a nearby cave for protection, the log was signed, pictures taken and the required information noted. I replaced the cache and now it is well covered just as the CO requested.

The next stage will have to wait as the river below was in full flow and not very cacher friendly.

Found while out on a caching run with GazMag.
I used to spend a bit of time here rock climbing on the cliff face to the right, Fantastic spot.
Cache was found without to much trouble, which was a good thing given the downpour that seemed to start as soon as it was found. Refuge was taken within a nearby cave to sign the log and decypher the clues from the poem for the next leg.
We decided to save the Waterhole cache for another day considering the incomming weather and the raging torrents through the basin after a lot of recent rain.
Thanks bikerbuddy for bringing us to this area. Very enjoyable cache

Out with Da-A-Team on our way to Warragamba when Bruce called out the next find. So down we go to this cache....which of course then led us on to Waterhole. Had no expectations to be doing such a walk today, but so glad that we did. Found the cache easily and spent quite a while decoding the poem. Phoned CO to confirm we had the co-ords correct as we had smaller people with us and the next cache was a 4 terrain, so didn't want to be heading off to blue yonder. We'd got it right and so off we headed. Thanks bikerbuddy for the cache.

Out for a day of caching with Wackydo. We saw these 2 were on our way to Warragamba and I thought we may as well knocked them off the list. Little did we realise that a bigger slice of our time would be consumed by this beautiful location. We were stopped by what we thought was some rubbish that someone had left behind (needless to say this was nothing compared to the rubbish which has been left at "waterhole". Such a shame!). as it turned out it was a rock climbers guide for the wall of rock we could see from our vantage point. What a view! Anyway we continued on and was spooked by a black snake scurrying across the track. We watched in awe as the nature passed as by! We were able to locate the find pretty quickly, which then had us putting our collective grey matter together to work out the clue! On to the next adventure. Thanks Bikerbuddy for a great day out! On this delightfully warm sunny day we'd arranged to meet Tronador at the car park to have a crack at Waterhole. As she had already done Approach, we arrived early in order to do this one first and gather the required info for it's puzzling sister. We've been in this area before so the ambience of the car park area was no surprise to us. One is always glad of car insurance at these times.

Anyway, shouldering our packs off down the track we wandered with the day rapidly warming. Lady Altaire quickly located the cache - great to see an ammo box! She then solved the puzzle in rapid order. By this time Tronador had arrived so we continued on down to the river. There are great views of the river below and the cliffs yonder when you do this cache. Really nice. Made no swaps.

What a great find, felt uneasy leaving the vehicle unattended due to bein informed by others that 3 cars had been broken into, there was glass everywhere. made our caching much faster than usual, ran down and back up , a very fast grab. The cache is well stocked , took GC TFTC

This was the best cache of the day for me. I'd always wanted to visit Norton's Basin. The walk down to the cache was fantastic. Great fire trail and then a nice hidden little bush track. After reading past logs, I feel that the terrain rating is spot on. This is not difficult terrain at all, it's a track, neither is the walk down to the river, but then it all depends on your level of fitness and how much bushwalking you are used to.
Loved the hide and a wopping big ammo box to find. The effort that has gone into this first hide from the cache owner is great. Well done. nice big log book and a fantastic idea with the clue book. Some thought has been put into the poem and I immediately saw how to solve this. Had the required coords to the sister cache in a flash. Nice work. Spent the time reading the rest of the log book and then rehid the cache before heading off down to the basin. Didn't think I'd get across the river, I could hear the rapids from up here. But I wanted to see Norton's Basin, so down ,down ,down to the river. Left a geocoin.
