I called in to check on this one that I had previously found, at the request of one of the recent DNF'ers. Having just found a nearby OC puzzle cache today, this wasn't too much further to go to do a quick check. Cache was certainly not where I found it several months ago, so I would say it has been muggled unfortunately.

15-Sep-17
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

13-Aug-17
Looked high and looked low but without success for this cache. We did find a bit of green wire but it was in a place that was too obvious for a cache hide. Maybe the cache has been muggled and the wire is all that remains.

05-Aug-17
Hate not finding these things

02-Aug-17
Had quite a good look but found nothing.

25-Apr-17
Quick find. Nice calm day for Anzac day. Tftc

19-Apr-17
Thought I might have to swim to this one, so was relieved that I did not have too. Took a few minutes to spot the well hidden cache.

16-Apr-17
Found, nice camo

18-Mar-17
We didn't think we would stand a change with this one but after skirting around suddenly there it was. TFTC.

10-Mar-17
Headed out after work to try for this one and keep the 2017 streak going. Lots of heavy rain periods today and one arrived just as I pulled up near GZ, so had to wait for 5 mins till it passed over. Once it eased off, headed over to GZ tree, but it was almost still "raining" under the tree......

Using the good hint, wasn't long before the nice camo cache was spotted, the log signed and back to the car, before the next rain band arrived.

TFTC

Went out in the dark last night to make it more of a challenge ...as if it wasn't enough of a challenge as it was ....the pesky thing kept hiding from me then finally the correct angle of the dangle and all was resolved ...thanks Riser for this great we cache most enjoyable great we spot

01-Feb-17
We had just settled in for the night when we thought we should check for an nice easy cache nearby to end the evening. Macwatt brought his trusty torch and we wandered down the road. Sussed gz and started to hunt. It was getting very dark and I couldn't see much. Macwatt asked me to hold his torch while he turned off the gps. The light flicked up and there was the cache. Thanks for the cache Riser5.

Breezy but nice spot. Fingertip search to find the attachment and there was the cache! SL TFTC

06-Nov-16
Didn't even look for this one. There was a party going on close to GZ, so I let them have the area.

30-Oct-16
Lovely little spot

10-Sep-16
At last I got it. Ha ha, It was right under my nose al the time.... Smile

06-Sep-16
Up visiting my parents for a week so what to do other than grab some caches. This one is just around the corner from them. Had to step back and really use my eyes as the camo blends in well. TFTC

05-Aug-16
Took a while . Yes great camo. Lucky I am just under 6 foot ..

29-Mar-16
Nice hide and lovely breeze on a hot day.

27-Mar-16
Quick find, thanks. Busy area today so sat under tree awhile

08-Feb-16
Nice hiding spot. Awesome view of the Onerahi harbour. Tftc

30-Jan-16
I headed up North for the long weekend and after a day out on the harbour, I then drove around Onerahi/Riverside finding a few caches that I hadn't previously done, in between passing showers. I did this cache during a downpour, but I luckily spotted the cache attachment fairly quickly, so the cache was an easy find despite it being well hidden. TFTC!

#11096. The new placement is much easier to get to (I might have made it to the beacon last time had I had sandals with me). Good to sort out this piece of unfinished business. TFTC.

The pyramid is looking a little worse for wear these days. StreetWalker had attempted to walk out to it on our last visit to Whangarei to get the old cache but he soon abandoned the attempt as the shells on the seabed were very sharp.
It took a while to find the cache, even though we were looking in the right place. When StreetWalker finally located it, we wondered what took us so long!
There were some people nearby, swimming in the sea as well as dog walkers so they probably were wondering why we were so interested in the pohutakawa tree! TFTC.

15-Jan-16
Cool camo awesome place and cache

13-Jan-16
As this was such a lovely we spot we decided to stop and have our picnic lunch. Finding the cache took much longer than anticipated but after a long fingertip search it was eventually discovered. A fav point awarded for the hide, the scenic spot and the lovely birds that arrived to share our picnic. TFTC

07-Jan-16
This took a while. The trees are very lush at the moment.

27-Dec-15

Lovely wet day for a find, TFTC

11-Jul-15
Out walking with a cousin. And we spied the pyramid, And yes it was habituated by a small seal. See photo. We hunted the gz. With no luck originally so it was this second visit. That. We finally located it. With a little help from a local. Thank you for the cache and another smiley face.

After a busy day we went on a hunt. Little bit chilly out on the waterfront today. Thanks for the cache. Lovely spot. ..

27-May-15
A quick find, on a walk from the airfield where we were waiting for a friend to do her first skydive! Thanks for the cache Smile

20-May-15
What a neat place. Assumed I had to go out to the pyramid but luckily my GPS told me otherwise. Re-read the clue and thought phew my shoes are safe. Didn't fancy mangrove mud all over them, or in my car for that matter. Took me a while to locate this well camoed cache. TFTC Smile

On a mission this weekend with Cats&Dragons, with a the main goals of reaching Cape Reinga to find the Virtual caches up there and the 35 and 36 degree South challenges, plus with anything else in between. We had a great time touring around Northland, and it is a pretty spectacular place. Being from Southern Northland, it has reminded me that I need to visit this place more.

The initial plan was to head up the west coast and on to Ninety Mile Beach (which was a huge highlight of the trip) and then down the east coast, but the plan was flexible depending on progress. We mostly achieved our ambitious plan, but due to time restraints had to cut back a bit from the planned list. If we had another day I think we would of achieved most of what we had planned.

Some of the figures for the trip were, 1600km's travelled in a 48 hour period, 37 hours of caching, 4 hours of sleep, and 7 hours driving up from Hamilton and back, with a total of 176 caches found!!

Thanks to all the CO's for placing these caches and showing us around Northland.

Yay, 4000th find.

03-May-15
This weekends little adventure was in the company of HKCB (as we'd both been given leave passes by our respective partners) so off we set.
The primary goals this weekend were to collect as many of the earthcaches as time would allow, the two virtuals, and complete both the requirements for the S35 & S36 challenges. Mind you this did not stop us working to collect anything else that we could find as time allowed.
It was a great trip with the weather playing its part so that we saw a great variety of countryside between caches and far too little sleep.

The result was 1600kms (over 48 hours), 189 caches (35 hours caching) & 4 hours sleep, not bad for a couple of beginners. Thanks to all the CO's and those that maintain the caches for us to collect on our too brief tour of the north.

Finally its Sunday and time to start to head back south for home, however before that happens we have a whole lot more caching to get through. This this series was the goal for the day before heading home, with a great variety of puzzles and hides it was slowly work our way around the point, through the chaos and then head south for home. Thank you for all the work that went into creating this series and giving us a tour of your part of Whangarei

Thanks for the placement

Day 2 of our Waitangi weekend road trip to collect a few puzzle series of caches that we have solved over the last month or so - plus any other caches that we can find on the way!

Another attempt, another DNF!

Great cache! I have been here once before when it was in the actual pyramid. Thanks Smile

11-Oct-14
They have done a great job of the sea wall around here but all the activity and noise seemed to keep the seals away this year. TFTC

Today we spent a full day of caching in the Whangarie area followed by a bit of sight seeing.
The caches we found today were all in great areas with wonderfull views of the harbour.
So many great scenic spots. After a short search we found this cache. Worth a favourite point
Thanks for placing this cache Riser5

Claiming with CO permission. Got there OK and was able to describe the location and where the cache should be. But it wasn't.

11-Nov-13
Need to move this one, as it seems to have gone.

14-Feb-13
The tide was right in today but Crafty_Pirate didn't want that to stop him so he made a swim for it. Though we couldn't sign the logbook as we were scared we would get it wet Sad

21-Jan-13
Rather nice idea to place a cache to this pyramid. We got pretty wet feet. I wouldn´t have found it if Fabio hadn´t screened everything. In Europe We´ve found nowhere such a tiny thing. Congratulations.
And because it´s such a brilliant cache we placed the trackable which flew more than 18000 km to come here.

18-Jan-13
Tides all wrong for this one today so have added it to the list of caches to do when back in the area. Looks like it would be lots of fun.

Had missed this one last time we were in the area as the cache was AWOL. This time the tide was right and the cache was in place so it was a quick and easy find. TFTC

27-Sep-12
I was lucky with the tides today as I was able to step accross without getting my feet wet. Certainly lots of oysters but I prefer the dredge variety. A quick find in a good location. TFTC

22-Sep-12
Pick this one up while kayaking passed at high tide. Hardly had to get out of my boat to reach cache. Cache getting quite rusty.

25-Jul-12
It seems the seals have been looking for my cache too.

Will try to get tomorrow

23-May-11
See log below.

22-May-11
great cache, with fresh oysters through in for good measure. However, the cache log is wet and disintegrating, and is full. Needs maintenance. TFTC

14-May-11
Cache had fallen down and into the crevice at the front of the pyramid. Have replaced in original place. If there is some rust on the bottom of the magnet can you please clean it off so it won't drop off.

23-Apr-11
Tide right and plenty of light but unable to locate anything but the tack! Could owner please check?

17-Apr-11
A great cache adventure. Difficult to find, may have moved slightly from original location have emailed owner.

19-Feb-11
Good timing here as the tide was low enough for one of us to rock hop carefully to the Pyramid in the Sea (those oyster shells look sharp!). Climbed to the base of the Pyramid, and quickly spotted the cache. Thanks for the adventure.

Incoming tide scared Scruffynz a little and he suggested an approach by kayak.. But with Water shoes and a furious treasure hunting incentive.. Sparkyxx pioneered the way across the rocks and through the shallow tide to the treasure! TFTC

31-Jan-11
with the water murky from the recent cyclone and oysters everywhere, falling and getting cut seemed inevitable (yes, sparky did end up getting cut...) and with gumboots shorter than water level, i was keen to launch the kayaks early to nab this one, but, seeing sparky wade the apparently shallow water, i followed suit (filling up one gumboot with muddy water...) T4TC! cool lil thing

24-Jan-11
Had to be careful with tide coming in and stepping "stones" under water. TFTC

21-Jan-11
Thank goodness it was low tide. TFTC

05-Dec-10
Out and about in the beautiful whangarei harbour today with our muggle son. Spot of fishing and scollap gathering with him on his boat "Sweet Jack". Tide good so we came ashore close by. OH my goodness just what about all those oysters and rocks? So Muggle son said sit on the bank and he did the Rock hop as he has great balance ( Not like me) Cache soon in hand, but did require a great set of long sharp nails to extract from mirco, as log was all srewed up. Have rolled back up and placed back in the lid.Great enjoyable cache and soooo pleased son was with me. So off across the water to visit another cache nearby.

23-Oct-10
The tide was too high when we first arrived - but came back later and all was well. Jase the Ace did the ascent asd search - cache found and logged. Thanks and cheers from Grandalf(1865)

16-Oct-10
Used the gumboots for this one and slow walk to GZ as the oyster shells looked sharp. Good hide T4TC.

Found on dark with only the phone light. TFTC

17-Jul-10
Tide was right so decided to try for this one even though it was almost dark. Yeah right, the cache did a good job of hiding in the darkness. Got it though. TFTC

13-Jul-10
Please let me know when the cache log is full.
