Argh, hoping to get four beds at Fanella hut, we made it almost there (10km in) but then someone came back from there letting us know that both huts are super full and people even sleeping on the floor already. So we decided to turn around to get back to the carpark with sunlight. So, no time for Geocaching on the way in (to make it to the hut in time) and then no time on the way out either (to make it to the carpark). Def not what I had hoped for, but with the only cacher of the four I had no choice than to follow on. But we had a food stop at this cute hut (only 3 beds though) and I had less food but one more smile.Added another piece of paper in a bag.
Nice to find after a DNF in 2015.I've just finished reading the book 'The Exiles of Asbestos Cottage', which I brought cheaply on Trademe before this trip. Interesting couple the Chaffey'sThanks for the cache!
A lovely area and a cute hut. It would have been great to stay a night here - maybe another time. A quick find - tftc
I left work at 4.30 and headed over the hill, I was in too minds whether to carry on further up the track and camp when I got here at 9.30 pm. There was still some light and I wasnt worried about walking in the dark, I've done it before and it's an easy track but when I saw how cool the hut was I had to stay. I'm working on a challenge that requires a number of night caches so I waited until 10.30 to make the find. Log is a little wet so spread it out on the table in the hut to air out overnight. Container had a crack in the top and bottom, so replaced it on the way out after I'd eaten the contents. Thanks for the cache bumandworker

Three days up the Cobb valley with our 2 nieces and brother in law, on a tramping trip into Fenella Hut and surrounds. A short search soon had the cache in hand. All good here. Great to see the old hut after the refurbishment. Should last another 60 plus years.

First stop of a long day walking to Fenella and back. Not too hard to find. Tftc
A long weekend trip up to the Cobb with the obvious chance of finding a few caches with HarrisGang5 while staying in the Cobb Hostel and completing a few day tramps. A quick find in the company of a beautiful little Black Robin who was more interested in the cache container than me. Worth a Favourite for the location and special wee visitor I had.
Been away for the weekend hiking to Fenella hut 14kms up the track. Nice cruisey trip up and down as normal quicker down. Chucked a load of caches on to the GPS and we were away.
Found this cache it took a bit of a tumble while no one was there and a pest had been at it to I have replace it (I have messaged u) cheers for the cache

Christmas time, and we went on a big family tramp to Kahurangi. Mum, brothers, hubby, and our 2 year old. We did a 7 day tramp, and then went to Nelson for the night, and then split up, and the 3 of us not wanting to go home yet did yet another hike just overnight.
We had a great time hiking, and hanging out with great weather (Except for one day! ) and good baking!
We found almost all the caches on the way too - except for some which were just too much of a detour with a heavy 25kg pack!
Thanks for all the hides, and sorry for the copied logs, but it's just been so much time, so hard to remember exactly, and it's a busy life chasing a toddler & running a business! Eeek!

Out with the family hiking around this side of Kahurangi for a few days! Great scenery and good to have caches to aim for, especially on the long stretches of track. Signing as Team Polak. TFTC!!
TFTC! Spent some good times in the cobb without any other people...lucky! Walked up to Fenella with good weather and awesome environment! and a swim in the river
Had a nice stop here and admired the restored hut. TT was last here 30 years ago! Hide had excellent co-ords thanks. This location is what caching is about! TFTC
Heading up the Cobb valley with Tramper Ted. Visiting Chaffey's hut was one of the highlights of our day. We did wonder where the GPS was taking us, but the coordinates were spot on. Thanks b&w.
Found on 3 day tramp up Cobb valley floor up to cobb hut. Stopped at Chaffeys hut to find the cache. find #23
This was one of the caches we found on our trip up the Cobb valley and apart from some rain on the way out we both think it was one of the best tramps around. Well within the reach of most people TFTC
We stayed overnight at the Chaffeys hut. Was lovely in here. Really enjoyed it very much and also the cache! TFTC!

Found a small quantity of stones that could well have hidden a cache, but nothing else was to be had, Good to see the old hut has been renovated; last time we were here it was very derelict.
Off on a wee adventure with Ms M to Fenella Hut. Perfect day and a good few caches to collect on the way.
We had lunch here at the picnic table two days running. Sat and watched the Tui's flying by, the Weka parading about and soaking up the stunning scenery. Interesting hut. Nicely restored. Looked blimming cold.

Found this one on my way back from Fennella hut. Day before to many muggles around today no problem. Great what they did to restore the hut. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
A walk up the valley was todays family activity and it was a great day for it. A few caches dotted along the way to break up the trip. This was the spot of the trip so far. Wow. The restoration of the old hut is amazing. Pre kids since Mr & Mrs KE were last past here and 20 years prior to that when Mr KE visited here on a school camp. We slept in tents that night and the teachers/parents braved the spooky old hut. Now though I think it would be a perfect overnighter. Chatted to an American chap for a while who was staying here before continuing our walk. So nice to be back here. TFTC.

Found the tree, searched at its base for a good while, but could not find the cache itself. Might have been muggled.
Quick find. The people who are doing the restoration work on chaffeys hut are doing a fantasic job a real credit to them . Such a beautiful place. Thanks.
Quick find at the start of a great tramp into the Roaring Lion river.Good weather all week.Lots of fish caught.
FTF Yay! Got up bright (or should that be dark) and early for the drive over to Cobb Valley. I was amazed by how much the water level in the dam has dropped since my last viisit at the end of January. No cracked rims this time! Nice walk to the hut which was empty in the morning but occupied when I went past it again on my way out. TFTC, Biggles.
