#15493 - 1:12:00 PM; Day 14 of the great USA and Canada Road Trip with Sol de lune, and the first leg which has taken us from Minneapolis through to Washington DC, is nearly done with our arrival in DC last night. After visiting Arlington National Cemetery we move on to the National Mall, where I collected this virtual. Gathered the required information, which was sent to the CO to get the OK.Greetings from Australia and TFTC mtn-man
Found while walking around DC for the day - we covered 10 miles but grabbed a lot of caches. TFTC.
We were off to the USA and Canada for a few weeks of holiday, and thoroughly enjoyed traveling around, and visiting the many different places and caches we came across
We continued our cycle around to this one next, and made the walk up towards GZ, having a read of all the different countries. It was great to see Australia We continued up to the main part, and quickly spotted both lots of answers, and took plenty of photos of the area, as this memorial is very well put together, and something for everyone to visit [^]
TFTC mtn-man, our answers have been sent, and a fav point from us!

Another moving memorial, but not an event I'm up to as much as much Vietnam. Still, a very chilling spot to sit and read about. E-mail has been sent with the required answers.
Thanks for another virtual and place to visit mtn-man.

A very peaceful and quiet area to commemorate those fallen in the Korean War. Enjoyed viewing the memorial. Will email cache owner the requested information within a couple days. TFTC
Heading to the East Coast and then north in our RV, grabbing assorted caches along the way. A special thanks to all the cache owners that make this hobby possible. Thanks for the fun, caches and hides. All logs marked with a circled "GB". Today was a special day we rode the Metro into DC and walked way to many miles in the processing of grabbing 20 Virtuals and 7 Earthcaches. If any answers are required they are or will be messaged to the appropriate CO.
We might not have stopped here but for the cache. Thank you for bringing us to such a quiet and peaceful memorial. Email sent.

We've been to Washington many times, however it's been several years, so we'd never been to this monument before. Thanks so much for bringing us here.
Found this after the Around the World Embassy Tour. Love this memorial, thanks for bringing me back. Sending answers.
A group from the South Jersey Geocachers made our way to the beautiful city of Washington DC. This was one of our many stops on a gorgeous day. When I got to the point and flag pole and turned around, it literally took my breath away. My son is finishing USMC boot camp, bringing an intensity to these memorials I never anticipated. Amazing place. Thank you.
Visiting from Denver and made the walk over to this area. Very nice and thoughtful memorial. Thanks!
Visting Washington D.C. from NH and gave ourelves a tour through Geocaching. Thanks for helping us learn even more.
On my various trips to DC, I don't think I ever ventured into this memorial. Now I have! Thank you! The answers to the questions have been sent.
Visited this cache on a trip to see the memorials around the mall lit up.

This is my favorite monument on the mall. I first saw it at night six years ago and it was very evocative and moving. Today we saw it in daylight which gave it a different twist, but still moving.
This was one of quite a few virtuals we collected on a rather lonnnggg walk around DC today.
Email will be sent shortly, TFTC.

On holidays from Australia and at present are staying around the Maryland area until we head off north to Niagara Fall and other areas up north. We managed to make a bit of time to visit a few caches today including some around Washington DC as we were heading the baseball game tonight. Great and moving places around the mall. Cache owners have been emailed. TFTC
A favorite for this one. Stunning. Thanks for bringing us here. Found with N while touring from Ontario. Answers sent.
Found yesterday in the rain. Been to this memorial quite a few times and read quite a bit of knowledge on the subject, still gives us goosebumbs being there. TFTC email en route
This is the 4th day of my much anticipated trip to the 1st International EarthCache (Mega) Event in Maine. Twelve states, (6 new ones) plus DC over 13 days. I'm very happy to have started this adventure. My walk around the mall started out with me tripped on the angled curb by the cross walks. Got just a tiny raspberry on my left hand. Saw so much today and missed even more. Will have to come back to just visit the museums. Today started out with some rain which stopped after an hour. Then clouds until the early evening when the heavy rains started. TFTVC
Thanks for bringing me to a part of the mall I hadn't visited. I've sent email with my answers.
I am enjoying a day of virtuals in DC with my son and his family. I will send answers this evening from a real computer. Gorgeous June day in the low 70's. Visiting from TN.
I am logging while awaiting confirmation as we head to New York in the morning
A very striking memorial of which DC has so many. So much thought ans attention has gone into remembering those who died in a country, for a people, they didn't know.
This would be hauntingly beautiful at night.

Greetings from an Australian caching team on holidays in America
We have traveled from New Orleans via Key West to here and this has been a great place to spend the afternoon walking around.
We parked over at the L'Enfant Plaza it cost us $20 for the day and walked over to Capitol Hill via a visit to the space museum.
Then we got a taxi over to the Lincoln memorial and then walked back to the car.
This was one of many Virtual's along the way.
How fantastic is the Lincoln memorial.
Then walked over to this one.

Took a long walk from quite a few blocks east of the Capitol and ended up here at around midnight. It was really quite dark so took me ages to find the inscription but eventually saw it under the light of my iPhone at the right angle. Although I'd been here a few days before, I intended to come along at night as I heard it was quite different to see. I'd recommend visiting in both daylight and at night.

This cache was one of the highlights of my trip. I'm so grateful that the cache was here, as otherwise I'd have walked on past (like I did, in the rain, on my last visit to the city).

This memorial is very touching and all of the art work in the wall is great Thanks
Another interesting and thought provoking memorial that was not here the last time we visited many years ago. Thanks for marking it. Answers sent.
This is another of the amazing memorials in DC and provides a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those involved. TFTC. Visiting from the UK.
A gorgeous warm spring day and doing a few virtuals in the Mall among the crowds of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Lots of visitors here of course, and had to bide my time to read the quote among the passing feet. Excellent memorial. Thanks mtn-man, email sent.
I visited whilst walking around the mall. Thanks.

This was cache number 13 on the day for Mrs SeeKPeeKRs and I. We were on a "Virtual Tour" of DC. We ended up picking up 25 caches today as well as walking just under twelve, yes 12, miles. I had never been to this memorial before and was really impressed by its granduer. Thanks for keeping this one going. (email sent)
Found by Mary & David from Melbourne, Australia, at 1215. We were in town to begin a 'Historic East' tour this evening and spent the day walking around the western end of The Mall. This was our ninth stop along the way. A most evocative memorial, made more significant for us next day when we learned that one of our tour group was a veteran of that conflict. We were all back here with the tour, and he was clearly impressed with its design. Our thanks to Robert L and Dawn L N Dutra, and to mtn-man for continuing to support the cache. Our answer email has been sent.
Hmm. I agree with the most recent visitor. I like this memorial the best. The looks on the faces say a lot.
I missed this memorial my first time round the mall a few weeks ago. It was good to visit it this time, and even see New Zealand listed amongst the UN countries involved. Cheers Gav [90]
