Not replacing this one again.

01-Apr-15
My answers and calculations took me to a likely spot which matched the hint but I could not find the cache

Cache has been replaced.

Definitely needs a check by the CO.

19-Dec-14
We tackled this cache in two stages. We gathered the necessary information in daylight and then returned under the cover of darkness to hopefully make the find. It was not to be. We're very confident that we have the correct co-ords for GZ, the counting and calculations were done three times each and GZ matched the hint perfectly, but no cache was to be found.
Definitely needs the CO to check on this cache.

16-Dec-14
Solved the multi but like the other caches before us, we were unable to locate the cache! Hopefully next time Ryanofoz and I are back on the island we can pick this one up.

18-Nov-14
Did the sums, ended up at a logical spot, shifted a bit of hint related this & that but no cache. There's some evidence of possible vandalism nearby - fencing panels lying askew & such. Pity as it's a worthy spot for a cache.

06-Aug-14
Found the answers to all the questions and sorted out the GZ co-ordinates. Unfortunately after many minutes searching and checking and then re-checking we came up empty handed. We will put this one on our watch list and have another crack if anyone else manages to find it.

16-Feb-14
Suscoe found this fellow after a few errors from Mr. S. by not checking everything that we did last year.
So after that was sorted out and many more metres than needed were walked, Mr.S headed to GZ and found the cache tucked away safely.
This is a fantastic afternoon with lots of sun but with a gentle breeze.
Thanks to hell+back for yet another really interesting local history cache on such a delightful day.
It is really sad to see the names listed here, the sea can be so unforgiving.

12-Jan-14
I had a look at the listing a few days earlier and had a go and trying to find the answers on line. I didn't find all the answers but did find enough to work out a couple of possible answers. Only a couple weren't really wet. So I parked nearby and headed towards GZ. It looked promising and after looking in a few spots found the cache.

22-Dec-13
Found it after some trouble with the iPhone app. The hint helped

19-Dec-13
Lots of water but not from the expected source. Clue was very helpful but cache almost buried in wet sand so did a bit of maintenance.

30-Jul-13
We had started to collect the information for this multi a couple of days ago whilst waiting for a Chinese take-away meal to be prepared. Just before tea tonight we returned to look for the cache. We located the area of GZ but it took a few minutes before we located the cache = we were a little hesitant to explore vigoursly. The cache and it's contents were in good condition. Thanks hell+back for this multi. The memorial was very worthwhile visiting - fishing is a dangerous occupation and this is one of a number of similar memorials we have seen around Australia. Alaso, thanks hell+back for the cache.

13-Jul-13
Solved puzzle a few weeks back...it took four visits to get to cache (the joys of school holidays lol). TNLN TFTC

09-Jul-13
3rd for the day. Geokids enjoyed solving the co-ords. Quick find. TFTC

25-May-13
Was lucky enough to be with the CO and her maintenance manager when we were checking caches. Another nice spot for a cache to be hidden. Hopefully it will remain muggle-free this time. TFTC hell+back.

25-May-13
Muggled again so moved slightly, clues updated accordingly.

21-Feb-13
sorry, looks like it's gone again

20-Feb-13
Did all the sums.. worked out GZ and after a good 30 minutes of searching I pulled the pin.

Went at low tide so was nice and dry. Could see where the cache could have been hidden.. and then check everywhere else and then some.

Personally I think this has been muggled.

Thanks for the history lesson anyway.

Solved the clues and found what should have been a perfect hiding place but no cache. Noticed that this hasn't been found in 7 months. Maybe missing? Interesting quest anyway!

Found on another "HUGE" TDC - The Demolition Crew night. The usual crew including Quasar3671 and TrailRunning were together again for the second round at the Island, cleaning up what we missed on the previous fortnight. With us again was Roostaman from Wagga, who wanted equally as much to clean out the area.

As bad as the weather was, we still made the pilgrimage, with rain and howling winds all the way. Many weather and environmental challenges met us, including ankle deep water and impassable roads to some caches due to flood water. At some of the caches we spent time rock hopping and surf dodging. I luckily had on adequate boots in the form of my "Caching Taipan Boots" but rain protection in the form of a waterproof coat, I did not, so I made do. The weather itself added to the excitement of the night, and it is one that I will not forget. It is the most extreme conditions I have cached in to date. As Roostaman said in his log, the wind topped out at almost 60kph gusts, awesome stuff. It did fine up a little at the end, enough to get a glimpse of the partial Lunar Eclipse which was also happening on the night.

In spite of all the above, still able to do 25 or so caches on the island, including 9 mystery, several multis, an Earthcache and a Nightcache, and a handfull of trads. In the end, not a late night, being in bed by about 2.45am. Thanks to all the cache owners in the area.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the last of the night. Grabbed this one after solving the clues and working out GZ. Had to wade through a bit of water to get to it, but it wasn't too bad, with the final in a neat spot. TFTC.

05-Jun-12
Two weeks ago The Demolition Team took a Monday night caching trip to the island where a good number of caches were collected. At that time, we knew that we would have to come back to complete the island and tackle some of the harder multi’s. So once again we headed south to collect as many more as we could with the limited time we had available. Once again the Roostaman joined in the fun on this very wet and very very windy night for what turned out to be one of the most extreme rock hopping, surf dodging caching nights any of us had done. The wild weather added to the excitement of the night and every cache presented the team with an environmental challenge or two. Good thing I was wearing my GP’s. With the permission of the cache owners, a number of caches were replaced as they had gone missing, our way of saying thank you for such an eventful couple of nights on the Island. Our only regret was missing out on a number of the western caches as we did not realise this part of the island is closed at night to protect the penguin population for human interference. With a full night of caching we probably would have completed all the active caches remaining available to us, but time tonight was limited and we headed home at a reasonable hour, cold and wet, but very pleased with our efforts. Thanks to all the cache owners, and in particular Hell+Back, for her caching placement efforts.

On our way home we collected the clues and after a quick walk had the cache in hand.

Found on another hell of a wild night ride around Phillip Island with TrailRunning & Black Legend.
Early on it was raining heavy with 35km winds, so what do we do, get out of the car and go for walks along the beaches, etc thankfully it was low tide, and search for hidden plastic, not short strolls either, and some jogging was done to get there quicker sometimes. My jeans were soaked by the time we returned to the car at the first cache and that was just the start of one long night of mad mayhem and adventures.

This was extreme caching Vic style and it went on for several hours. The wind gusts almost reached 60kmh and nearly took a door off the car. My socks were soaked inside my boots from walking in small flowing 'tracks' and wet grass, then they somehow dried, then we managed to find more puddles to walk in, just as the night drew to a close. We did also get a glimpse of the partial lunar eclipse through a break in the clouds and rain, and later saw the full moon shine down onto one of the many beaches we visited during the night.
The way we experienced the Island this time will go down as a big favourite and be in my memory banks for a long time. My thanks to the Demolition Crew for the opportunity to join in when I could have been snug and warm in bed.

This was the last on the island for the night and a nice easy multi with a great relief to be able to find the cache at the end. At least it was better weather when we were here.
Thanks for the cache,
Roostaman.

Did the clues with Mrs Iamapom on this rainy afternoon. After a false start, I realized my error and adjusted my locale. After a good long hunt, and using the hint, and previous logs and photos, still couldn't find it. DNF

We stopped at the memorial, which is a stark reminder of how dangerous conditions can be out at sea, and something that doesn't often touch our lives. We set about gathering the clues, and made our way to a likely and very apt GZ. It took a bit of hunting, and it was upon the third or fourth checking of the same spot that the cache was found. It blends in very well. More through luck than good planning, we were at GZ at the right time to find the cache. We passed back on the way in the evening and could see that it would have been much more difficult then! Thanks hell+back for the cache.

Started this one on my last trip to the island but wasn't able to complete it, but approx. where I had calculated GZ to be. So going off my memory I commence my search and this time my timing was ideal and finally the cache was in hand.Big Grin Nice hide and a fun multi. TFTC Hell+Back

Did puzzle and found place that fit the hint. Saw some places that looked right. But couldn't find it. We will watch the log to see if anyone does any better.

Found by Mary & David at 1740. A very moving memorial. We wondered if the Churchill names were related. How tragic to lose family this way in two generations. Glad that the conditions were such that we didn't need to get wet - it would have been very cold. Another great cache. Yet again, our thanks to hell+back.

Amidst some discussion re the interpretation of the mathematical terminology, we collected the required information at w/p1. On reaching GZ the dilemma was of a more chemical nature. Team pprass braved the elements and retrieved the cache. Found in conjunction with pprass and Squalid.

Found at 11.25am GAFF1 in the company of Phetlern and squalid. We gathered the information and corrected ourselves here and there. Got to GZ and the conditions weren't favourable, but c-pprass didn't worry and grabbed the cache very quickly. It is amazing that there still is a lot of KG around here.
Thanks hell+back

Smile found at 3.30 with geochild, have had coords worked out for some time now but had to time it right. Today was the day. Not to many muggles around so had geo child keeping an eye on the few that where there. TFTC hell + back T1(ball)L1

The information was found easily and it was off to GZ. We were a bit worried about muggles as they were all around today, but we managed to find it easily and log it without arousing suspicion. TNLNTFTC.

I hadn't intended to do this one but as the pelican's were about to be fed we stopped and while the others watched them Lady Morris gathered the information. Just as she finished the calculations they arrived in time to join the hunt for the nifty hide - we timed that just right too although some of the party have wet feet. A great introduction to caching for my s-i-l. TFTC

28-Aug-10
We have not visited this site before, it is a fitting monument to those who have lost their lives while doing a days work. We had a few problems sorting out the answers here, nothing to do with the questions just us being a bit thick today. Once we had it sorted it was off to GZ where we found a much larger cache than expected and were happy to be able to return to the car with dry feet.
Thanks for showing us this location hell+back.

Forgot to drop off a trackable

21-Aug-10
I tried this about midday after watching the pelican feeding, but the terrain was a bit damp. About 4 hours later I had no problem.
Thanks hell+back - Good spot (at high tide).

GOOD SIZED CACHE GOOD SWAPS TFTC

Good sized cache kids loved the swaps here as they where good.didn't get wet feet today took lizard, glass and octopus left donkey ,pencils and Texas travel bug sl tftc

24-Jul-10
Well, we had a couple of goes at this one - the first coords we worked out ended up in the sea, so suspected something was wrong. Sure enough, the old subtraction wasn't quite up to scratch, and after a second go at it we got a more probable GZ. Timing was great, no wet feet. Picked up a coin and a TB to move along, TFTC.

10-Jul-10
Wet feet? What wet feet? No water around GZ today.
Fishing is one of those occupations, like mining, that has a high cost in human life.
It is nice to see a memorial in this park to them.
Quick calculations, and a short walk, had the good sized cache in hand.

It sure is different from my line of work. This was a fascinating tribute to these men.
Lucky for us the tide was out and we kept our shoes on and dry.

*FTF* With a trip to the island we stopped at San Remo our way. gathered the clues and headed to GZ. Took a look around, hung of a few places, Over the side of some other places and decided we are not going to be getting this one at this time of day (9am) just after high tide. Plus the muggles around looked very confused at my actions. Continued to the island and spent the day there to come back over to San at 5pm, 2 hours after low tide. Had to time my approach to retrieve the cache between the waves. There is a lot of shift in the water at this location. A nice cache to do just as I click over to 400. Thanks for another quality cache H&B.
