Nice slosh and splosh to the GZ in gummies with GTL in the heart of a Tawa afternoon. 28 degrees today. Cache needs remedial attention. TFTC
Hadn't noitced this one was disabled until I had it in hand. I made the crossing down stream from where it seems other have and was able to aviod the bog stones all together. Did have to build my own stepping stones though. This was an easy enough process, the stream was only about 3 paces wide.
Easy find. The bag which contains the log has a hole in it and the log is wet. TFTC
I need to replace the log and it's protective paper. Cache disable until then (probably about a week)
#476. Even though the cache was only around 80m from where we parked, we had a lot of fun getting to the cache over the space of about half an hour. Miss 6yr and Mr 8yr old helped build a stepping stone bridge to cross the stream. We then had to jump the wee ravine - also good for the kids confidence. Next up was crossing the 'bog of eternal stench' - for those of you that remember the movie Labyrinth. As others have pointed out, the cache is very wet and almost unwritable. The return trip was slightly different, we decided to use the large pipe to shimmy back over the bog and the ravine. Back over the stepping stones and we were out. The kids had a great time with this unexpected confidence course, thanks for an enjoyable time. SL, TFTC.
Cache very wet and rusty with the bag split, probably needs a more waterproof container.
#191 - Haha! We got more wet handling the cache itself! The log bag is broken and the cache container is rusting and rotting... needs a bit of maintainance... SL TFTC!
Found the cache ok.
Apart from traversing the swamp and stepping stones, also had to deal with some cows and their 'leftovers'!!
The plastic bag with the log in it has a hole, so the paper was a bit damp.

Did the Woodbourn Trifecta in the pouring rain, worst condition I've cached in. Easy find after wading through the stream TFTC
Went to the position and all around the area and couldn't find. I was reading all the comments for help too at thr time and we had no results.
There has been some severe flooding in the area lately.

Nice short walk to cache. Gumboots were very useful. Found after short search. SL TFTC
Wore me gumboots and pleased I did,a very squishy walk near GZ.
Didn't realise there was a reserve here at all.

Only Mr RoastIndustries ventured all the way to the cache, little Miss RoastIndustries got across but the mud got to her! TFTC
Didn't come prepared with gumboots but managed to keep feet dry while we hopped and jumped across the little stream. Then it was squish, squash, we were walking on mud, early on a Saturday morning. Fortunately stepping stones were closeby so it wasn't too bad after all A tricky hide. Took a wee while to find after searching in many likely spots before finding it at the first spot where we had searched before. Thanks ebognz.
#1227. Didn't have gumboots with us, so Mrs h was quite happy to stay at the entrance, while Mr h went to survey how much wading was required. As it turned out, it wasn't that deep, and with the help of strategically placed stones, the feet were kept dry. TNLNSL. TFTC.
yes indeed the stepping stones were a good invention for the two adults however not much use to the dog. King stinks and was tummy high in muck!!!!!! He loved it.
Out for a hunt with the young one, third one for the afternoon. We managed to keep both our feet dry crossing the raging water course and walked the moon walk on the stepping stones. Located and then had to wait for muggles out for a walk to pass before returning. TFTC
A quick find while in the area this afternoon. Gumboots not needed, no problem keeping dry in normal shoes. Signed log, TFTC!
A quick find, No problem keeping my feet dry, all a question of poise and momentum. SL TFTC
First cache of the day. Managed to do this all with normal hiking shoes. Crossed the river, made it across the stones and wooden planks to the cache and back.. Lots of fun, some rocks are quite slippery.. Thanks for the cache..
A 2nd to find was all I could do for this one, was in a bit of a daydream and missed this one completely, congrads to -gonefishing- for the FTF.
Approached GZ with the proper attire - gumbouts and my work gear, a great match - TUI - LOL - a quick walk to GZ and no issues in the daytime. Just would have really being fun in the dark.
Great spot for a cache never knew this spot was here. TFTC TNLNSL (1817)

FTF #29 It seemed like a nice night for an outing, it must be at least 8deg under a clear sky. After reading the description I grabbed my gummies, but when I go to GZ I decided I should don mask, snorkel, wetsuit and flippers to reach the cache. Thus attired I set off across (under?) the reserve.
Well, actually, just a hint of hyperbole in my description, I did wear my gummies and was glad of it. A funny little reserve, but a straight forward cache once you have negotiated the various water hazards. Thanks for a bit of excitement!
TFTC.
