Up in Whangarei for a few days and today we picked up a lot of caches through walking around the river walkways and up Parihaki summit. The hint is very useful here - TFTC
Unfortunatelly without any success ....................................................................... TB Koumesovo geopivo DDEV7M
Staying overnight at an Airbnb not very far away I took a wander up the road to capture a few caches before dinner.Descending the long-way down - purely for the numbers!A good hint led to a quick find. Thanks butters*#4740
The boys were talking red after the climb but found after checking the hint. Enjoying the walk. Cache in good condition, thanks.
Heading off from the top and continuing on the loop track, this was a nice reason to stop on the downward leg. TFTC
Our first geocaching adventure with our wee man in a backpack (10months) and our 4 year old and all the family present. We parked at the top headed down the Ross track down to the mine then up into Mackesy bush. Ohhhhh so many stairs, especially that track up to mackesy. But 4 year old managed all the walking so we are proud of her. Only 1 DNF today but it's a night cache so not going to log as DNF, and we managed to find one we have DNF twice yay..... thanks for all the hides. This was our first find of the day
On the way back down now.
I could see where it was tethered, and did consider passing on this one, but with care it wasn't too much of an issue.
Thanks for setting this up

I could see it but as you are not allowed to step off the trail in a kauri forest I left it. We need to protect these trees more than get the odd geocache.
Knocked off around lunchtime and decided to go for a walk and grab some caches.
Missed this on the way up. Found on the way back down. A nice easy find. Great to see it attached so that if doesn't escape down the bank.

I've been up Mt Parihaka many times but I always enjoy it. I grew up with the old name so I always have to remind myself of the new name. My last visit was with a group of geocachers doing Nicks new labs and celebrating the end of 2020.
I'd been saving these caches for dot days but I really wanted the two cache's up here for my solar system stamps. I've been making slow progress on these stamps with the last 15 caches having nothing I needed. I did the virtual at the top but I was still early for work so I walked down to this cache today as well. Nice to get a bit of exercise. A quick find thanks to the clear clue. Thanks for your well camoed cache

tried a few places near steps. hint didn't seem to quite match. moved on and then found more steps a d everything fell into place. yah. carried on to the top but ran out of daylight to find any more caches. lucky I had a torch for the down hill return to town. tftc
Looked for this one many a time but brought help this time and quickly found. TFTC
Out for a walk with friends. Nice easy find for their first find. Great thanks!
Out on a training walk today, finding caches on the way. Nice easy find. TFTC.
Feeling bored today as I'm on call for work so decided to do some maintenace on a few of my caches.Removed mushy log and replaced with waterproof paper inside an extra container.
Took me a little while longer to find it until I read the clue as well as the description. Awesome effort on the cache. Visiting from Australia. TFTC
Out tonight looking for suitable sites for a couple of caches of my own, but hard to find anything good that is at least 170m from the existing ones. Oh, well, I can keep looking.
Also needed to find at least one cache tonight to keep my 2017 streak going, so made my way down from the summit. Nearly wasted some energy by almost going past the three steps without paying attention..
Nicely camo'd cache container. Nice to see these ones with a bit of effort put in.

Lol was actually looking for a 2l ice-cream container... Don't do that! Tftc
Found with Mrs McMike2012 ... we were doing a 'road trip' to Whangarei as we had a couple of messages to do ... thought we'd do a couple of caches on the way up & a couple on the way back home as well ... and as it turned out, a couple while in Whangarei ... thought we'd head up to the Parihaka Memorial & walk some tracks & see what caches we could find ... this being the 9th of 15 for the day ... quick & easy find ... TN:LN:SL ... TFTC ... #1,120 for us.
awesome track. nice camo. not an ice cream container as described. soon found once we stopped looking 'just' off the track as description suggests (certainly do have to leave the track for this). tftc
Working at Kauri and took a walk up the Hill behind my Hotel. Quickly spotted grabbed and signed before the muggles I had not long passed on the way up caught up again. Tftc
A most enjoyable find with the kids! Santa in, marble out. Thanks for making a hill climb more exciting.
Lovely views over the city from Parihaka Memorial. A quick walk (plus a bit more as the navigator wandered on a bit to far before realising) down the track past some fantastic trees to find cache. Thanks for the precise instructions. Phone GPS struggles in bush locations.
in town pending a big hike tomorrow nearby, we headed up tonight for a big of glow worm action, finding it still to light on arrival we decided on carrying on to the summit, not having loaded any cachers or brought a pen i came around the corner to find MR vistra already deep in search, certainly is chained up isnt it.... of course with out a pen ... it was heads together.. no one wanted to donate blood and attempt to "hold up" a couple of people walking down the track failed - they disarmed us knowing full well that when strangers ask for pens on a bush track in the dark they have to be geocachers.. of course they had no pen.. so improvisation was made (see Vistra's log - A for ANZ, V for vistra)
Was in the area tonight with Alligatorsnz and a friendly muggle, to show them the glow worms. Despite the sun having set, it was still a bit light for the glow worms, so we went for an impromptu night walk to the summit! Stopped for this cache on the way, which I found soon enough only to discover that none of us had a pen! By chance a couple of muggles came the other way, but they had no pen either - but they did ask us if we were geocachers! (despite not being cachers themselves!) So my best option was to poke a stick in the ground and draw the muddy initials AV to represent both of us! This track is a whole lot better from what I remember it being like in my childhood! TFTC!
Found this one but in the recent storms this cache suffered serious damage. Cache and it's lid had been separated and buried under large pile of gravel washed from track. Any contents of cache including log are gone and may be buried. Somewhere.
Found with the family during a great but tiring hike to the top of parahaka and back. TFTC.
Edit: Changed date to the right day.

Running past and checked today.Still there ,was well covered with gravel and mulch off track.Cache is to the right as you go up,wedged behind tree and two smaller branches behind the main trunk.May be too camo so might look at another run past and easier hiding spot/container and maybe spoiler pic.
Got dirty trying to reach down, even went down the bank to serious search. Cannot find
HotRodPete's family decided to walk the Mackesy Bush track and find the caches along the route. A hot but pleasant summer's day spent out caching and visiting a new place we hadn't been before.
A slight detour to the (nearly) top of the Ross Track to find this cache then a return walk down hill to the start of the Mackesy Bush track. TFTC

Replaced sad looking container which had lost it's moss.Edited cache description and hid in new spot as old spot was too open.Co-ords virtually the same, just the other side of track.

Found by Mrs waimea rev while visiting Whangerei to support a revlet playing in a national Hockey tournament.
We diverted to find this while researching for the nearby multi. We had geopuppy with us and then spotted the no dog sign so ROS headed down alone to look for his namesake cache. Quick find on a great track but a bit of a huff and puff back up to the lookout where MAR was waiting with geopuppy TFTC.

First one of the day. Decided to head to the lookout and saw this one pop up not too far away. After descending a couple of hundred metres down the hill we realised it was close in a straight line but not so much with the windy path, hence the rating! Found the cache fairly easily with the clues. Took a wee while longer to haul my preggy butt back up to the top, at which point the husband told me I wasn't allowed to get any of the others in the area (spoil sport!). Nice way to start the day though.
Discounted where we were looking but after broadening the search we returned to where we started and found it!!!
Grabbing a few caches in the area while passing through on our 'how ever long it takes' NZ tour.
Thanks for setting this up.

Great track...good workout !!! good camo and no bush trampling. GPS coordinates spot on, put us 1m away. Picked up Geocoin. TFTC
Have lost track how many times I've been up & down this track now;
It's become a favourite since discovering it via this cache!
Still forgot to load new coords to GPS but vaguely recalled hint today so was able to find new location easily without leaving track & dropped in a geocoin.
Took an averaged waypoint s 35 42.870 e 174 20.269(though don't think you need it now?sp8s looks pretty good)

I was'nt expecting to find more than one today, but the weather cleared enough for me to try another in this reserve. I enjoy stretching the legs here after work and this really hit the mark! Nice hide and pleased not to be off trail. Indeed, a quick grab from the path. My Cacher's eye was tuned in today. Nice hide. T4TC!
OK so I found this one with the ToomstoneNZ. Nice Area. . FYI though you should be aware that the area raound GZ has been trampled and dominated by people who have difficulty finding the cache. The area has been fairly flattened even though your description says you don't need to leave the track. TNLN. Didn't sign the log as I had no pen and therewas none in the cache. TFTC.
Cache was repositioned from original position to stop any trampling of bush. Cache can be easily reached while standing on the track, no need to go off the track to find.Thanks.
Quick check while running the track.Passed about 1 dozen people, one guy carrying dumbells and heavy gear.
YAY! found it
Took us awhile with all the joggers around
Nice camo !
Dropped a pirate puzzle!
