Das hat mir super dort gefallen. Sehr interessanter Ort. Danke fr den Cach All the best to you and warm greetings from Germany
Interessanter Ort. Gut und einfach zu vergeben gewesen. Greetings from Germany.
This lonely old piece of history holds special significance for me as my Grandad was posted here in WWII before heading over to PNG. Can only imagine how challenging conditions must have been 80 years ago in the heat trying to excavate the bunkers... T4TC!!!
Quick find in great condition, good thing we had our eyes up looking for this one
Last day in the Batchelor area. We have learned a lot about the WWII activity in the NT. And more here. We scared aff o few kangaroos as we approached GZ. Found the replacement container safely tucked away under some rocks. Thanks to coongoola for replacing it. And thanks to dampn8jes for bringing us out here. SL TFTC Cheers Gaztek
Found by Mr C. who replaced In new container in new Camo at GZ. We found your cache today 26 July 2024 2:59pm , while enjoying another day in our beautiful countryside. TFTC dan&jes
Found the container a little melted and cracked but most I damaged from the fire surprisingly, very interesting area. These places really arent well advertised in Darwin and they should be. Thanks for bring us here. TFTC
Found the hint zone, couldnt find the cache. Area has been burnt recently. Interesting spot. Thank you.
Well my whirl wind tour of 5 states in 3 weeks has started and after reaching the SA border and now the NT border it was time to locate a few caches here or there as I won’t be doing that much caching on this trip as I’m with muggle friends.
We have finally reached another spot where we are staying for 4 nights this time to really enjoy the sights of Litchfield NP.
So after another casual night I got up early and headed off to find a few caches before they got out of bed.
This is one of the ones that I did.
Another interesting spot and boy the conditions would have been unbearable between the heat of the dry season and then the wet.
Thanks for bringing me here.
Thanks dan&jes TFTC.

Arrived in town and headed out here to explore some of our WW2 history. After looking around the bunkers and crash site I headed to gz. Found the hole and while peering down I noticed a very large blue tongue lizard looking a little thin at the bottom. There is no way that guy is ever climbing out so I headed back to the car to check what totts we had on board.
Back home tree fishing is popular and we brought our pole with us.. alternatively I had a ladder but that would mean I'd be grabbing the giant lizard with my hands and trying to accend the ladder. I opted for the pole with the ladder as plan b. We tied a noose to the end and arrived back at the hole. Lizard had disappeared, but pushing the leaves around soon uncovered him. A couple of attempts to coax him into the noose then gently raised him back to the surface. He wasn't too thrilled with the assistance, but after releasing him nearby I offered him a bowl of water which he dived into. After several minutes of drinking... he seemed to regain his energy and no word of a lie... the stupid bugger ran straight back to the hole and fell back in. *groan*
Well.. after 2 rescue missions, I carried him a couple of hundred metres away and wished him the best.
Oh, and I found the cache, container was cracked but log dry and well. Tftc

This was an interesting one. Grabbed it on the way back to town from Litchfield. Had a lovely two-night stay at Central Valley Thanks dan&jes for the cache ️

We’re staying in Litchfield/Batchelor for a few days, and with lots of time we’re touring the area by finding all the caches around! We’ve had a great time finding all the caches around and visiting all the great spots!
Went in to GZ the T3 way, went out to the T1.5 way… Cache is falling apart, next wet season will probably kill it.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache dan&jes

After a day out in Litchfield doing some of the sights we retired to our accommodation, then, to make the most of the available daylight headed out to Batchelor for some more finds.
This is a tired cache… needs a new container, the current one is broken.
Thanks for hiding this cache!

This leg of the day was a little unplanned but resulted in some very good finds, this took a bit to find but we got there in the end.
This trip was sort of in place of a trip to a Mega that got canceled due to accommodation problems, I was quite happy when Goose said do you fancy to caching break in the Northern Territory as this would be the last State or Territory for me in Australia.
Our plan was to fly into Darwin on the Friday night have a couple days in the area then start heading South stopping overnight whenever we needed to, our next goal was the drive to the geographic centre of Australia at Lambert Centre and then head back to Alice to fly home ten days later.
We both had a great trip finding some important old caches, large ones and the odd clever one too, we found Ammo Cans all over the place which was nice as i think we have found most of the ones at home in Tassie.
Thanks for the cache.

One of the many fascinating WWII areas we visited on our short NT trip. So much interesting history, but not a lot is being preserved.
It took quite a bit of searching to find this one, although GZ was obvious in the end.
Thanks dan&jes

Headed south here in the early morning.
History definitely was here with the fear of a Japanese invasion of the territory.
After the bombing of Darwin it was game on in WW2. Some remnants are in this area. The cache proved elusive for a short time. 7 m off with iPhone.
Cache is disintegrating-plastic not surprising since 2010. Thanks dan&jes for the cache and glimpse into history.

We spent two days exploring Litchfield National Park, enjoying the gorgeous landscapes and the occasional swim. With some geocaching thrown in, it was even better.
Another WWII site, had no idea there were so many of them in the Northern Territory.

Box is damaged and melted in one place by a bushfire. Shockers be replaced before wet-season.

On our final evening after visiting the Litchfield National Park for a couple of days, we came to visit this historic world war to site. World War II has definitely been a recurring theme in our travels as we have made our way around the northern territory and one can’t underestimate the impact it would’ve had on the city and Australia at that time.
With a good hint, we soon had our name added to the log here.
Thanks dan&jes for highlighting this historic place through Geocaching.

TFTC love the history and walk thru my mind. Quite a little find cache I mean. Replaced the ppr and double bagged to courtesy of geo buddy. Needs maintenance new container would be good idea. Its a little burnt. If I pay a return visit before any new cacher comes by in weeks to come, Ill pay another visit. Cheers
We found the burnt out remains if the cache. Which is a shame, as quite a drive in was involved and a bit of a trek in. Maintenance required.
Found the remains of the container. The area has been burnt and needs total replacement, sorry I did not have spare with me. Great ww2 history across this area. Thanks
Sadly a DNF for me today. I saw the biggest pig I’ve ever seen in the Northern Territory (actually it may not have been big and it may not have been a pig) and I jumped out of my skin. The grasses are over head height right now. However, I did stumble across revetments and lots of old drums and metalwork. I am happy, none the less. TFTC
An early morning start with a full itinerary, smileys included, we spent the day enjoying Litchfield National Park, we hiked we swam we cached, all in all a glorious day. We’re happy to say we came up trumps here and walked away with a smiley TFTC
Today was an adventure down to Litchfoeld NP for the next leg in the Great Aussie Icon Hunt. It started off soooo good, until we got to about 8 klm from the turnoff and we hit the roadworks, blocking off both sides of the road and using traffic lights to control. 1 and half hours later we get to the turn off, passing about 5 caches due to the bumber to bumber traffic.
Picked up a few and also a couple of DNF's, but all good when we got to the Bitter Springs Tavern for lunch 3pm, and a cooling ale.

Found with GrimRaider on our trip to Darwin. Wow that was a stomp through the high grass. I spooked an animal that took off through the grass - not sure what it was but kept on down the track. Cache found in good condition.

New to this looks like I should have posted the condition of cache. The book was water damaged , the container seems fine just wasn't shut properly. Needs new log book...
We replaced the container and bag, a little smaller than what it was so if you have something bigger to swap it out for, please do.

Nice little history story here. It’s certainly something I wouldn’t know about unless Geocaching didn’t bring me here.
Cache is struggling and desperately needs a new container. It will hold for a little longer, but if you are next to find and have a plastic jar or container at “regular size”, then feel free to do some maintenance here.

Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was simply driving from Timber Creek (NT) to Litchfield NP.
On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Tradi-Cache.
Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.
Thanks to 'dan&jes' for showing us this location, for the fun we had with 'Batchelor WWII Anti-aircraft site' and for the smiley. The search here and today didn't take too much time, fortunately.
Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest, prairie, desert or outback .

Thanks for bringing us here on our 2nd honeymoon after a visit to Litchfield. Driving through Batchelor on way back to Darwin. Saw this one and had to go for a look. My Grandfather was stationed just up the road with Number 2 Squadron in the airforce as a tail gunner in WWII. Very interesting place. GZ was about 12m off and was about to go home
This GZ is the reason why I love Geocaching - to find historic places my Geofam and I didn’t know about

Arrived in Batchelor late this morning. Thought we would grab a few caches, thankfully the area around this one has been burnt! Cache in good order. Thanks for the cache.
Yep.....tall grass to negotiate through on the way to the cache. Then there is that unsuspecting big hole that is very camouflaged by that high grass. Reached the location without too many mishaps, and after a bit of searching located the cache. Another interesting part of WW2 history. TFTC

Family of 6 travelled around Australia in a camper trailer on the holiday road trip of our lives. It's been a long time since we came home, but I kept good notes and am now reliving our trip by logging the caches we found on our travels.
Staying at Wangi Falls for the week and after celebrating the little fella's 5th birthday, we had to come up to Batchelor to get a few supplies so we could stay a bit longer! On our way we thought we could grab a few caches to make the drive an interesting one. Thanks for the cache! Very cool spot!

Hi there dan&jes - another full day in Litchfield NP, and after a late start we began at the Magnetic Termite Mounds then to Florence Falls and after lunch back into Bachelor and surrounds. There has been a fire here recently but the cache is unharmed. This cache and log are in good condition - SL. This is our find #5030 - thanks to dan&jes for this cache.
After the hype of finding my first 5/5 yesterday, I thought today would be a quiet one as we continue our meandering across northern Australia after attending the Red Centre Experience over Easter. Pa was very generous in the afternoon but we didn't manage to find many caches as we travelled to Batchelor where we are camped.
After setting up camp and having lunch, Pa became my chauffeur to find some more local caches. This was #7 for the day. Another historical spot that we would never have visited except for the cache. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to find. SL

After a few days at Dundee with a non caching friend having way too much fun we decided to take the long way back to Darwin thought Litchfield and see what we could find.
We pulled up and read the information and we were really looking forward to having a look at what remained. We followed a bit of a trail through the spear grass which was well above our head and with forty metres to go the track ended so we had to push our way through the rest of the way before coming out very close to gz and seeing what was very close to there we decided that we would head out a little more carefully but not without finding the cache first which fortunately gave up without too much of a fight and our name has been added to the log.

Still travelling NT after the Red Centre Experience but now moving towards Birdsville in QLD for the Big Red Bash. Staying a few days at Batchelor so a day out exploring nearby once camp was set up.
Your cache was found in good order. Mr Felix Dad served in an AA site in Darwin during WWII so really hit home visiting these sites.

With nature doing so well in this climate a lot of the historical war sites could easily be missed, so thanks for showing us this one. While we (or possibly just MrsG) was consumed with lurking croc thoughts, we continued on in the tall skinny grass till we got to GZ. Really wasn't too hopeful the cache would be found but not much later it was. TFTC dan&jes.
Alice trip 2017. Day 17. Today Sol de Lune, Luckyl10n, Fitzy_1965 and I drove the last dash into Darwin. We went out to Litchfield briefly, but still we suffered from the conditions and were happy to upgrade from swags to cabins for four days !

13465. Next find of Day 09 of the Red Centre Experience Roadtrip. Heading North.
I flew into Alice Springs to meet up with my caching mates Sol de Lune, Albida33 and LuckyL10n (signing mostly as ALFS) to attend the Red Centre Experience and then venture up north to Darwin and then east into Qld before heading south for home - a three week caching trek.
Next stop for the day. A bit of a bush bash but then it was a quick find at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and it was off to the next cache.

On the road to the Alice Springs Mega with LuckyL10n and Albida33. We arrived in Alice Springs to pick up fitzy_1965 to complete our group and set about the fun of attending the event.
We spent the next 5 days caching around the region enjoying the area and finding a lot of the local caches. After the event we set our sights on Darwin and started off on the next stage of our road trip.
Managed to find another few caches and had a great time doing so.
Thanks for all the caches and the fun in grabbing them.

We haven't been aware about all the places concerning WWII when we planned out trip. Even though this is about a very sad part of history, making people aware remains important! Thanks for bringing us here and showing us an important part of the Australian history. Amazing spot!
