Another milestone. The time-honored cache was an important stop on our tour. And today it could be searched for, found and logged. What's more, it was a beautiful walk in glorious weather that brought us here.So we hiked to the dam and the other traditional caches in this wonderful natural setting. All caches were in great shape. Many thanks to the owners and greetings from the Moorhelmi from Germany
EN : After discovering and signing the GC46 logbook, we continue our walk since the Uber does not have to come back to pick us up until 11 a.m. All caches will be found easily and logbooks signed. Thank you to all the installers for the work carried out for our greatest pleasure. Greetings from France. Our Travel Bugs pass through this cache but do not come out of our backpack; they continue the adventure with us. Trip to New Zealand decided very quickly , but that didn't stop us from preparing a small file of caches to search, as far as possible. The GC46 is, of course, at the top of this list! Our program should allow us to discover a large part of this country.FR : Aprs avoir dcouvert et sign le logbook de la GC46, nous continuons notre balade puisque le Uber ne doit revenir nous chercher qu' 11 heures. Very slippety here, do not come in white clothing But cache was found nicely. Thanks!
A nice big boy. Poured the water out, but the inside was nice and dry. Thanks for keeping it up!
Lovely spot. Came here for GC46 and as this was just a bit further on couldn't leave it behind. Glad I made the extra effort. Fav point added
#3815 Today is day 4 of my geocaching holiday in New Zealand. Today's goal is to get [Global Geocaching - Wellington](https://coord.info/GC885V5) and [Geocache by Kevin Anderson (Wellington)](https://coord.info/GC46), the oldest active geocache in New Zealand.Found it! Not in very good condition. Water got inside, and the logs were soaked. I added a new log and a ziploc.tony_the_bald_eagle, thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on October 4, 2024 @ 15:19:01[GC26RP1] Quintessential cache (Wellington) was a D2.0/T2.5 Regular Traditional Cache at the time of finding.
Thankfully some suspicious items gave the location for this away as i'd neglected to add this one to my GPS so just had to find it by following the cache trail and looking for clues. The cache itself was water logged, tipped out as much as I could, signed and placed back. Might need a bit of love next time.
On my way to find my oldest cache so far. What a rainy and sunny day simultaneously.TFTC #788
Here to find the Holy Grail (GC46) and enjoyed a walk around the tracks in this regional park while here. Interesting short side trip to find this cache, which needs attention, as the log is falling apart. This little-used trail is a good example of how quickly Mother Nature reclaims her land! TFTC tony_the_bald_eagle
With nothing but the phone satellite, it took a minute to find the right path, but then Geokid made quick process of it and found the cache safely. TFTC
With just the phone satellite at a guide, it took a minute to find the right path, but then Geokid made quick process of it. TFTC!
4-week family trip through NZ - Find #107!After having found GC46, we continued for a bit on Sledge Track to find this cache as well. Was quite easy, because we just had to follow the geotrail .TNLN, TFTC!
Continued on from GC46 to grab a few more. Found with no problems Thank you for placing
Visiting for 2 weeks from NJ, USA on a group tour but decided to rent a car to come out hiking for the day. Had a great time exploring the woods. Tftc!
# #7,119 #----------Continued along the track until the detour point, then it was a short walk to the cache. Weirdly there was a bike left here but no owner about. Found the cache after a short search. TFTC!!! ----------> All geocaches are signed as mmmPIZZA or mPZ
Found by Mr CNQ on a walk this morning, didn't have all cache details but found with the compass / distance. Took TB. Thanks for a nice little stroll and greetings from north Queensland.
After the visit of GC46. I continued the path and found this cache as wellThaks alot. TFTC
We were going to Wellington by bus for a whole night. Than we were waiting for the ferry and explored the town.Greetings from Europe (the Czech Republic).Small trip out of town started right than... Our first way to NZ forest. ....Thanks.Trpen u potoka v dungli.
Before we went to the first cache in New Zealand, we first visited this cache. We took a nice walk and looked for and found the can a short time later. The Knuffelbren from Nuremberg say thank you for the cache.
Today we made a nice walk here, picked up several geocaches. This was one of them. Thanks for placing it in this nice place.Greetings from Team Camperfietser
After making the geopilgrimage to the fifth oldest geocache on the planet nearby, I thought why not make it a loop and gather the other oldies in here as well.
This cache has now been here so long, (over thirteen years!) It could have it's own decade anniversary celebrations.
Found easily enough, signed the temp log and replaced as found with a rock on top.
Thanks Tony_the_Bald_Eagle for choosing to hide a cache here in paradise!

Found quickly, a bit damp but in tact. Outer container is broken, and was open when I arrived. Several log sheets inside the inner container. Signed one and replaced, cheers!
King’s birthday weekend cache walk. Cache in lovely location. Enjoyed finding this one.
Nice quick find after finding GC46 nearby. Very enjoyable walk. Visiting from Australia TFTC
Make sure you download cache details while you still have cell phone coverage. Otherwise not too hard to find, (Thanks to Thomas from Dunedin)
After my visit at the oldest cache in NZ I visited the Quintessential cache. I put a new logbook stripe in.

Apologies to the CO.I found this cache a while ago but have been very sporadic with caching for a while due to the pandemic, and this find was left as a draft on my app.TFTC
What a stunning location for a cache!! Mr B was here just months before you placed but together with Mrs B today was the day to find it. We sat and enjoyed a snack at the cache site and took some photos of the area! Definitely what caching is about for us - no traffic noise, just the birds and stream. Thanks for the placement - fave point from us!
I came here because of the old geocache, however it is so pretty and peaceful here, we add the wetland and bush sledge loop and can find thus additional geocache at a very natural spot - thank you very much - chitza from Belgium
After visiting GC46 we walk around this area and were lucky to find another cache.

Nice to have other caches to find after GC46! Loved the spot! Streak day #74. TFTC
Found on the pilgrimage to GC46 - looks like some traditional caches are so important that they deserve other traditional caches to tell the story - this one certainly does!
This forest is so beautiful that, after visiting GC46, I was glad to have further caching opportunities to prolong the trip tftc!
Overshot then gps settled down for a straightforward find. Logbooks all full or falling apart so put in a new one.
After finding GC46 (what an epic cache that was) we headed on up here for the 3 caches on the tracks nearby. It helped having a previous finder with me as even if he couldn't remember exactly where the cache was hidden, it made this a quicker find than if I had been on my own. Outer container is falling apart a little, but there are no issues at all with the inner, so nothing to worry about here. TFTC, nice to have a reason to explore this area a bit more!
Phone compass was all over the place which was a bit of a challenge. So we were glad to have found this one from reading the previous logs and a bit of detective work. Tftc.
In Welly for a couple of days on my way down south. Couldn't get the local caches without going to a journey to NZ's oldest, and while I was in the area walked a bit further to grab this as well. Nobody else around in the area, so managed to find it without any trouble. Tftc!
After a false start (when the track forks, go left) we found the right spot. The GPS was a bit wonky under the trees so had to follow our noses. Got it in the end. The log paper is very damp and needs replacing
Nice cosy area to sit and leisurely find this one. It'd be good for background relaxation sounds. Tftc!
Found out with TharntheHalken. A very pleasant spot to visit. All good in cache, tftc!
Its true i came for gc46 but i wasn't going to pass up the combination of a bigger walk and the bonus of some other lovely caches. This is a pretty little spot on this track, thanks for bringing me here. Private little spot with my own bit of river for a few minutes. TFTC.
Mum is helping me log all my caches that I haven't logged yet.Found with Mum (LL113) and Dad (GNARwhal) and one of my sisters (Gabzter13).
What an amazing spot! The kids kept saying “it’s just so beautiful in here!” Notepad was wet, main container is broken and needs replacing. Miss 8 swapped a little treasure. Was a great day out for the beginning of the year.
Down in Wellington for a family wedding and we were over here today to pick up GC46 and having a great hike around in spite of the cold weather! Enjoyed finding this one, TFTC
Down here with themexikiwi for the weekend and looking to grab a few caches while we were here. Cold day but otherwise nice to be out and a quick find here before moving on. TFTC
3. cache today. Hunting for the NZ oldest one. Only stamp because of dampness of logbook - when I started to write a date, the paper started to tear.
Iceworm and I were visiting that parc for the very old cache but on our tour we found a lot more. Such a wonderful bushwalk! Thanks to all the owners for it.

We came to the park to find the oldest cache in New Zealand and just had to carry on with the walk in this beautiful location. Quick easy find here. Log signed and cache replaced as found. TFTC
Greetings from Washington State. We are on day 10 of our 5 week NZ road trip. Traveling from Whanganui to Wellington today with a stop for my muggle hubby to visit the Southward Car Museum in Paraparaumu. Then having enough time, I got my muggle hubby to make the drive to find NZ’s oldest active cache. Found this after the oldest. What a beautiful walk this was. Thanks for enhancing the walk with another cache. TFTC
Found after visiting GC46. A lovely little area for a geocache, nice and shady in the hot summer sun. After finding this cache we backtracked a bit and then continued on up to the dam. TFTC
Found with aeshna_uk. Having found GC46, we headed back to the car park by continuing the loop and, of course, taking in other caches along the way, including this one. Definitely appreciated the views as we did so. One thing's for sure, caching in New Zealand is likely to make us a lot fitter... TFTC!
Originally it was just me and my new Geocaching friend who were making the brief extra walk to this cache, but the lure of more treasure finding with their grandpa was too much temptation for the geokids, so both of them bounded along with us.
A little subtle hinting and the camo was identified, and great excitement at uncovering the container. It was also lovely to be in the shade for a while, and on a secret path most folk don't take.
Thank you tony_the_bald_eagle for placing & maintaining this cache.

Visiting from Ohio with Skibug9. Loved finding the oldest in New Zealand! We enjoyed hiking in a forest so different from the ones at home—we hiked and found all the caches in the park! SL—TFTC!
Greetings from USA.
Visiting from Ohio with Dame Deco. After finding the nearby oldest cache we were enjoying the scenery and walked the trails to find more.
Thank you tony_the_bald_eagle for placing and adding fun to the game.

At first my GPS wanted me to cross the river, but I sure didn’t want to. So, I hung around a bit hoping for a change in the numbers, and whaddya know, they changed. No wet feet necessary, and a log to sign. TFTC!
Visited on my Christmas holiday trip to Hong Kong, New Zealand and South Korea. A quick log now to get the correct TB/GC mileage, details later. TFTC!
After finding the older cache up here *Dingo79* and I were still enjoying the scenery so we took a small stroll and found this one too. Greetings from Bonn in Germany

Berrydehamster and me are travelling in New Zealand for three weeks. We cross the country from north to south and back again by campervan, see a lot, do a lot, visit lots of places and meet a lot of people. It’s nice to be here and we have a great time.
As both of us are geocachers, we find a lot of caches on our travels. This is one of the caches we found. Thanks for your cache, tony_the_bald_eagle, that helped give us a wonderful time here.

Virtual Reward - A Kiwi Legend (National Park)NBokkie and I are going on holiday to New Zealand for 3 weeks. In Auckland we rent a camper. We start on the North island and driving to the south to make the crossing to the South island. Here we make a round and then take the boat back to the North Island. A long trip, but a very beautiful one! We do and see a lot on our way............
In addition to being a tourist, we are also going to cache along the way. The virtuals and earth caches are often on tourism places. If we have a long day of traveling, we stop for some caches.
It were been great weeks!

Today we spent some time in this area to log GC46.
But this area is so lovely and so we decided to hike a little bit in the hills.
And so we did. We reached this geocache and found it quickly and easily.
Many thanks for showing us this amazing area!

While we were here to look for GC46. We walked around to find some more caches. Thank you!
It was a race by the microcachers to see who would get there first! Master 8 from the Yeomanclan won! Little did we realise how interesting the walk was about to turn! TFTC

I was in Wellington for the weekend and I had to find the oldest cache in NZ for a current challenge. But while in the area I took advantage of grabbing a few more this was a nice quick find, TFTC!
I found this one after the oldie. Nice walk down to the stream and a quick find of the cache.
