(2 of 9 today - including 3 Adventure Labs)

Headed to Springwood today for some caches to up my calendar finds. I'm actually running two caching goals at the moment. My immediate goal (for 2023) is reaching 500 multi finds. My longer term goal is 25 by 25 - ie 25 calendar finds loops by the end of 2025. And that's going to take work and discipline. So any day I can raise my total finds to 25 is one more day in the bag.

And that's what I've managed today. HUZZAH!

However, the Caching Gods give and they taketh away. While I avenged a previous DNF, I added two more to my account - and one of them was a multi. Sad
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Got to GZ and too a bit wandering around to little effect. Finally, I spotted something suss from a short distance and checked it. CIH!

Completed signing duties, replaced as found and away.

Out for beautiful, autumn afternoon's caching with Forereach and Mrs Forereach. The afternoon started well with this, and a couple of other finds, but it later deteriorated with a few DNFs, but that is the wonder of geocaching!!

03-Sep-17
This was the first of 4 caches for master Q, muggle husband and myself. Beautiful sunny day today and awesome location. Loved the cache, indeed a great one for the kids. After all the caches around the fire trail, we walked all the way to the end. We were a little disappointed when we arrived at the roundabout, thinking that was it. After we had a bite to eat, we explored a little further only to find the awesome view about 30 metres down a little track. Definitely worth the walk.

15-Jan-17
After my last several geocaching excursions which took place on hot days and were quite strenuous, it was nice to take a casual walk down a flat fire trail, enjoy the breeze, and look for caches just off the track. Coordinates for this one were almost bang on; I walked right up to it. TFTC!

TFTC gate was closed so we decided to walk to GZ, great for kids as there's minimal bush bashing

01-Sep-16
There is a sign on gate denying access till after 25/9/16 due to track maintenance.

14-Aug-16
Lovely walk and a nice easy find. Posed a slight problem in that it's a designated wildlife protection area so Geodog couldn't join us for the wander off the fire trail but there was a convenient post for her to wait. A great walk for kids. Tftc

After finding a solid four today already, NickCD and I kicked onto the three towards Sassafras Gully, this time with haras (or what she will be when she finally decides to create an account).
A relatively simple walk down the trail to GZ, until we took a wrong turn too early and gave ourselves an unnecessary bush bash. We turned back, and were rewarded as we reached GZ quite easily second time around. A nice hide and a nice spot.
TFTC.

an interesting hide, out with swiftthistle a wonderful area for walking.

25-May-13
Out for a caching session with Old Scout Bear, nice set of caches down the end of this road.

05-Apr-13
This morning AMGSARI and I thought we would attempt a few of the caches at the end of Yondell Ave, Springwood and along the Wiggins Track. Five attempts and five finds, some a little more challenging than others but all most enjoyable.

After leaving the main track, the side track was followed which lead to within 20 meters of GZ. With a little bit of searching around AMGSARI located the cache. Great location and a most pleasant walk to get there.

The log was signed and cache returned to it's hide.

Out with Gazmag for a morning caching.
This was one of the caches we discovered in this great area beyond Yondell ave.
Thanks

... onto a second seek for the day, the side track was easy to find ... the wander into the near scrub a case of a little further, a little further. Probably I approached on a roundabout way, but the cache was soon in hand, all good and dry. TFTC Smile

Found at 8:50:00 PM:

By the time we got this cache I was over Yondell, however I pressed on. Webguy and the boy, having been here before, stood on a nearby rock and watched while I ventured down by the light of a torch and found the general location.

I looked around, knowing that eventually the watchers would step into the scrub. When I heard them making their way down I extracted the container and made the appropiate marks in the log.

A nice afternoon stroll to this cache after a day out in the nearby area. It was a beautiful sunny winter's day - ideal for caching. Took the geocoin to move on.

Nice bush walk today with the geodad and muggle friend. Was funny watching her look but not see what we now think is obvious. Nice weather today for dad's streak. Found after another DNF on one of Toriaz's nearby caches.

Starting to know this track well. Third time on this track in the past couple of weeks. We noticed the fence posts yesterday and realised where we had to go to find this one.
TFTC. Found with azazzlenic and her friend.

27-Oct-11
An easy walk along the trails until a light scrub bash to GZ. At GZ, some views into the valleys to the west. The cache was an easy but an enjoyable cache to find. Nice hide and nice location. TNLN SL TFTC.

Came down to do the Sassafras Gully Walk with friends. Stumbled around at GZ and It didn't seem to be the obvious location. Almost gave up when we didn't find it and the gps was running out of juice.

But we found it after one last ditch attempt before we left.

Took slinky and left zombie danger sticker, little monster finger puppet left a pen as there wasn't one.

31-Jan-11
Since I was in the area I had to go for this cache, the 37 degree temperature did not help, just as well I was carrying lots of water. I got to GZ without problem, and as usual I looked at the obvious spot and thought 'no too easy!' and spent 20 minutes looking all over the rocks in the end I went back to the first spot and sure enough there it was! I can only blame the heat. Took nothing and left Yowie, Olympic pin and signature Pathtag.
Very nice area I wish it had not been so hot or I would have gone to the end of the main track, well another time.
Thanks for the nice cache.

04-Nov-10
Took a pleasant walk up the fire trail this afternoon with my eldest two children to look for this one. I think the gate is permanently secured by a new lock these days, but it's not too far to walk anyway. We enjoyed the walk, lots of wild flowers out to look at, and the birds were out in force.

Arrived at GZ and found the cache after a quick hunt. Signed log, did no swaps but collected the TB to move on further in its travels.

Thanks for a pleasant afternoon walk, we had a fun time searching for this one. Was tempted by a nearby cache, but decided not to risk the rain. We'll be back to this spot soon to find the other one.

23-Oct-10
TFTC we were on a walk to find and follow an old and very over grown track from the end of the fire trail to Glenbrook Creek. The cache was a good find along the way, Took a Geo coin and a cd left a geocoin and a pair of sunnys.

09-Oct-10
Parked at the new gate at the end of the sealed section of Yondell Avenue and walked approximately 700 metres on a very good fire trail to GZ. The rain held off and I easily found the side trail off to the right, which took me the final 100 metres to the CO's rocky hiding spot.

Cache container and contents were in good condition. Dropped off the Sakura GC and retrieved my old mate the Georola Mobile Phone TB. SL.

Took me a while to navigate amongst all the many rocks, but in the end I found out that the published coordinates were pretty accurate and that the hiding spot was quite reasonable.

Nice place for a walk and a good adventure for a geocaching family -- geokids can burn off lots of energy and there's no rubbish and little danger of cliffs, etc.

Many thanks to The 4Runners!

After finding the 'crack' it was a good walk out to GZ to find this, my 2nd cache for today. A great spring day and quite warm. Had this one in quick time once arriving at GZ and signed the log at 14:15pm. TNLN

05-Sep-10
The strong winds were still howling through the tree tops as we strolled down the track this sunny morning. Soon arrived at the rocky cache location and located the container. Pleasant and peaceful spot. Made no swaps howevver dropped off the Gerola TB.

Another spot that I would not of even thought of coming to if it wasn't for caching. JABs knew exactly where to go as it was his backyard as a kid.
Stopped and investigated the blue tubes near the power lines and found that they are ground water monitoring bores.

Another cache down memory lane. Larst house on left was a good mate of mine, had one bike between us and going or coming from town one would ride to a set spot and leave bike the other would pick it up ride pass and so for. Wiggins Track off to the right at the gate area is well worth the trip down and out passed the cache on the left just before the drop down if you know where to look is a great set of cliffs for climbing. This was once a fenced off block that as kids we never even thought of entering. Fence and gate all but gone now.
JABs.

After geohubby(bikerbuddy) and Garks getting this as a FTF some time ago, little NickoHeap and I nicked out to find this one today. With the gate gone, even our little Pulsar made it down the trail for a quick find once on GZ. Pity we couldn't have been there for the other half of our teams very first ever FTF. Good spot, but still a quick find, this time for me.

An easy find, maybe the co-ords are a little out, grabbed a new set they may or may not help, we averaged our over 10 minutes. Some of the walkers here DO NOT like people driving on this road, we met the same GRUMPY fart walking his dog as we were going in and out. Going out, he refused to get over so I went around him and all we heard was abuse as we went past.

Dropped a trackable.

Nice first cache!!

P.S. I think we parked next to the same red car as you, bikerbuddy. We got to meet the owner, so it wasn't abandoned!?!

Finally, a FTF on my 115th cache! (I think a customary "WooHoo!" is in order here) 5pm

Got home from work and the Geowife, WaywardWoman, tells me there's a new cache close by. So I grab Garks while she takes NickoHeap off for his piano lesson and we head off. Surprised to see the gate is no longer up on this road but we parked at the gate, out of habit I think (What restraint I am now thinking.) We hoofed it along the dirt road with the sun fading and thoughts of that red car parked next to ours. But when we got to the location there was no one around. A brief search followed. The GPS had GZ about 8 metres from the cache.

As I signed the log book the sun was going down and this big guy with a dog who looks just like Hurley from the TV show LOST turns up. I call out "Are you looking for something?", thinking you know what, but he just looks confused, seeing this guy in his work clothes and his kid in school uniform ratting around in the bush.

Anyway, thankyou 4Runners for putting this cache here. It's a good spot for kids and I think it would be great if the mountains had more caches suitable for kids. Thankyou.Big Grin
