Cache condition: (a) damp, (b) good
Bula and G'day! I was staying at a nearby resort and noticed this cache was only 800m away. When I woke up on our first fay of holiday I decided to go for a jog (pre-emptive strike against the likely food & incohol excesses this week). I jogged along the beach, then up the road, exchanging pleasantries with the guard. When I got to GZ I looked in the likely spots, based on the hint, but with little joy. I then read some logs, to discover that the hint is a bit out of date. I then looked lower and found a container, with a damp log, and much lower, to find another container of the same style, with a dry log. I signed both, returned the containers to their spots, then headed the inland route back to my hotel. Thanks for the cache (which will no doubt be my easternmost for a while!)

A few day's R&R in Fiji provided the opportunity to grab another souvenir badge for places cached in. I saw that this one was just a short walk along the beach from our resort so it was the obvious target for a smiley. I had read however that the cache was a muggle target so I came armed with first aid equipment in case it was required.
The find was straightforward thanks to all the hints in recent logs, and I am pleased to report that the cache is still in place and in fine order, although a clip lock bag would be more moisture resistant than the current freezer bag once the wet season comes ... but hey, when away from home bases you use what you have at hand.
I had to cut through the beach park owned by the local village (hence the no trespassing signs) to get to GZ but I have found previously that the security guy there is friendly so a quick bula and wave as I walked through was all that was needed.
Thanks fuzzynz for placing this hide and to jusojaro for his recent restoration efforts ... I appreciated it.

Headed down with Ju from the resorts the other day and came up empty. Returned today with So for another look and it appears that a mower has been through here and there is no sign of the cache or coconut husk.
Today with So we came armed with a new cache to replace this one and have placed it at the base of the tree in a coconut husk. This is our first and only Fiji cache for this trip but we will be back for more. TFTC

Found it together with LittleDa. Nice stroll along the beach. Place itself was tranquil, no muggles around.
Found at the cost of 6 mosquito bites Walked down from the resorts along the waterfront. No hazzle with crossing the short path through the private section. Container in good state, but no TBs inside (although otherwise indicated). Please log if you take TBs out of a cache. TFTC.
Nice morning walk along the beach front. Great time to be in fiji
Didn't have a pen but have photo to log

Technically should be a DNF followed by a F. Could not see it in what looked like the right place so put a replacement out. Now hidden under the ubiquitous coconut husk.
Did the circuit from the bridge onto Denarau and back via the resorts. There are gates that could be locked at both ends, but they were always open (I did the run twice). Both have notices about trespassing but they are Denarau signs so since the whole island is basically a tourist resort I think you can safely ignore them. TFTC.

Staying at the Sofitel for the day awaiting boarding of our ship, I decided to try this one on foot. I had assumed that cutting across the golf course would be easy but the have very active security that I had to avoid. TFTC!
Tried for a different cache before this one, but it was gone, so this one will be our first and only cache in Fiji. Easy find. TFTC
My second approach to this one. Had arrived late the previous day to find the road gated and locked, and no obvious easy entry for someone not to staying at the Denerau resorts or willing to stride across the golfcourse. Early the following morning decided that while the gate was locked, there was no-one about and walking the 1.3km road while the heat of the day had yet to set in was a worthwhile effort to expend. quite a pleasant walk, and didn't meet anyone on the way.
Cache was a supremely quick find at GZ, and both container & log are in great condition. Took the opportunity to enjoy the beach views while here, and the nearby park.
Thanks for bringing me here! Took a little bit of planning, and the chance to have a drive around the Denerau area and check out all the flash resorts ... not to mention the Marina area.

Visiting Fiji for the first time off Holland America ship "Oosterdam". Had high hopes of finding a cache here as we were to visit the nearby Sofitel Hotel. Must have had a seniors moment before we left home as I forgot to include the Fiji caches in a PQ. Doh. No coords + no cache. Thanks anyway fuzzynz

Quick find. Was with 2 muggles that were completely sceptical on what we were doing. After cache was found both very dumbfounded and couldn't wait for the next one. I think I've just recruited 2 new cachers.
Cache in good condition but no TB present. TFTC.

Not having a vehicle I walked to the cache from Wyndham resort about a 700m away.
this got me to the end of the road and a large gate locked. Only way in was via private property and a life guard. No one to guard beach deserted. I told him what I was up to he knew what I was after and where it was. I found it easily and took a pic of him. he was chuffed at that. Only find on Fiji others too spread to walk to. Excellent cache but no TB.
Thanks

We hired a car for the day so tried to go down the road that starts just near the entrance to the island. Turned out that was a great option as we drove straight to the cache- no fences or anything. And a pretty quick find. Another Fiji cache done. Thanks!
Found today after a walk down the beach. We found Ponipate sitting on the beach guarding the playground and nearby private residence entrance. He knew all about the cache and walked with us to find it. A very friendly cache guardian. TFTC Our first in Fiji
On the sea princess with brother Colin. This one was the 2nd cache we found for the day.
Due to the nice humidity and heat we got a taxi out to this one.

First international cache the guard was helpful in letting us walk down the road. Also took us through the mangroves on a boardwalk which was nice. The cache was in good condition. Note to finders make sure you wear bug spray I'm super sensitive to bites and got attacked
Yeah!! This is our first Fijian AND international find! We made the half mile trek down the beach from our resort and as we got to the road, we noticed a locked gate and a private property sign. After turning down the idea od crawling under the gate, The Lovely B had the forethought of asking permission from a security guard to walk through to the road, which we were granted. Once to the GZ the find was easy. Thanks for enabling us to get two firsts during our stay in the lovely Fiji islands!

A nice Christmas day find on our holiday to Fiji at the nearby Sheraton. We approached the cache from along the beach (in hot humid conditions) and my initial thoughts were that the cache was on golf course land. We got to the fenceline and I realised we would have to be on the other side. We walked back towards the water and straddled over a gate.
Surprisingly enough my son spotted a suspicious and exposed container 46m from GZ. I thought he was playing a joke on me but when opened up the log paper was there. Cache log is exactly 50% full so there is room for about 30-40 more names.
I also dropped 2 pathtags in hoping that there won't be intercepted by other fingers...
The co-ords for this location are as follows:
S 17.46.966 E 177.22.046
Photographs of all signatures on cache log have been sent to cache owner for evaluation. If you have signed the cache you don't have to worry.
Cheers and many thanks for the cache.

Tftc! After hundreds of bug bites we finally found it. Had to get at least 1 cache while in Fiji on our honeymoon.
Found it...on my honeymoon!!! On the road side of the fence...about 40m SW of the GPS coordinates! Bring bug spray!! Waist high! Goodbye Fiji!!
We first tried to go the easiest way to the cache but there was a half closed gate saying that this is private property and trespassers will be prosecuted. That was a bit too much for us so we took the next nearest entry point which meant that we walked one km across the golfcourse to reach GZ. There were not many golfers out and the course is beautiful with many flowering christmas trees so it was a nice walk.
We had to get to the other side of the fence but that was not a big problem and we found the cache quite easily with the help of earlier logs.
Thanks for the cache and greetings from two Swedish cachers.

I am heading to the nearby local Sheraton hotel during the Xmas period. Definitely have plans on finding this cache.
Will bring along a couple of different good cache containers and empty logs in case it is required.
Cheers!

My first and probably only cache in Fiji.
With the guard I had a short chat, when I was looking at GZ a car passed by
and the guard changed. I shook hands with the 2nd one as well when I left the place.
Unfortunately I cannot exclude that he observed me when I put the cache back.

Quite a simple find on a hot and humid day. As said in the previous log the cache was found 40 metres off the coords. I would recommend this cache being moved to the other side of the fence as i had to crawl under a locked gate to reach GZ.
Thanks fuzzynz, fav point from us!

Fellow Cachers, As this cache doesn't have a 'guardian' any longer, the only way we can keep this one and only Denarau Island cache alive is by looking after it ourselves otherwise it will have to be archived (which would be a shame ). Can the next finder please move it as you see fit and email through some updated co-ords.
Thanks again to everyone who has looked after, and enjoyed this cache.

Over in Fiji for a work do, so had to take the opportunity to add a new country to the geocaching list. Early morning run down through the Denerau resorts and onto the golf course, no sign of any guards today. Spent a lot of time moving up and down through the trees as the GPS was having trouble getting a lock, no cache anywhere. Eventually climbed over the gate onto the road side and immediately saw it in plain view, then realised I'd forgotten pen! Climbed over the gate again and back to the nearest resort to borrow a pen, then repeated it all again. Good exercise on a day that was already hot and humid, even in the early morning.
See other note if you need more clues.

Cache was around 40m SW of the reported coordinates, as best as I could get it. On the road side of the fence, waist high. Partially hidden behind a piece of bark.
After another 'unusual' encounter with the guard, it seems that he is aware of the latest hide (but happy to assist). Just in case, please don't leave trackables in the cache.
Well this was one of my strangest finds so far. I got to GZ on the golf course side and couldn't see any obvious hiding spots. Read the description again and decided I was on the wrong side of the fence so I wandered down to the gate, squeezed through the gap under the chain and walked back up to GZ. After about 10 mins of unsuccessful hunting the guard appeared from the hut and wandered over. I said bula and explained I was looking for the geocache, showed him my GPS etc, He appeared to have no idea what I was talking about. He wandered off and I kept searching for another 15-20 mins. I was getting hot and thirsty and frustrated so decided to give up. As I was squeezing myself back through the gate the guard called out. I thought he was about to tell me off for going through the locked gate back to the golf course but instead he was holding the cache and saying "is this what you were looking for?". After my initial annoyance subsided I asked if I was looking in the wrong place but he said no you just didn't find it. I asked him exactly where it was hidden and when he described it I thought to myself "I'm sure I looked there". Anyway, I signed the log, gave the cache back to him and walked back off to the resort. I'm not sure if the guard had the cache in his pocket all the time or whether he ran over and got it after I'd given up. Either way, I signed the log so I'm claiming the find Thanks for the hide - wish there were more in this area.
We walked all the way down to the cache on two different occasions and had a good search but nothing. Didn't speak to the guard and now I am reading the geocachers experience from the 2/9/13 I am wondering if it was in the guards pocket all along. We certainly couldn't find it and there were three of us looking. Pity we would have liked to have signed the log.

This cache was too close not to go get it. Guards were very friendly. The TB listed in the inventory was not there - will post that with the TB also. TFTC!!
While mum, dad, master 8 and miss 3 were in fiji we just had to find this one. We took the kids along the beach from the sofitel. We were slightly apprehensive on the security guard based in other posts, but was no trouble at all. We even got a nice "bula" from him. Quick find on the cache and a quick break for a drink and snack and then back off to the sofitel for a swim and a water slide.. TFTC
Woohoo! We sailed in from Sydney on Carnival Spirit this was our Second cache on our cruise. Sooo exciting to find a cache in a foreign country.

Our first day in Fiji and with this cache just 149m from where we were staying, we had no excuse not to head out to find it. We had a bit of fun and games with our GPSr trying to work out how to use it when we had no street mapping for the area. We eventually ventured along the track up the side and back of the golf course and soon came to a fence with a guard house for the property next door - it feels a little strange to see guards patrolling properties! We assured the guard we were just going for a walk around the golf course and he soon left us to return to his vantage point. Before long we had reached GZ and with a little careful thought, the cache was soon in hand. We quickly signed the log and made our way back to our resort. Thank you for having placed the cache fuzzynz
First in Fiji!
No inventory present (vs 4 logged), so I wonder if this is a trend? Took a chance, left Froggy TB, dipped a few others.
No hassles from beach approach today, though some construction going on; walked back along golf course service road.
Left USMC pin, tnsl, TFTC!

Took a walk from the hotel in the evening, along the coast, outside the construction area and down to the golf course. Dodged the guard outside his hut, and crawled under the gate to get out on the other side.
Found the cache soon and signed the log. Realised that the golf course was regarded as private property, so followed the road out. Just before the road joined the main road, there was another gate and a sign indicating that also that road was private property.

Well, we had no working GPS, but tried to find this one while playing a round of golf, having input the coordinates into Google maps in our hotel room to get as good an idea as we could of the location. Searched in the right area until another group of golfers came up behind us, so we had to move on.
Thanks to Southern Cross Cacher, the cache is up and running again with a Brand Spanking new container and is clearly hidden in a new position!
We stayed at the Sheraton which isn't too far away - we decided to take a stroll around the golf course and see if we could find this cache. Glad we did so - a nice walk and some much needed exercise! Thanks for the cache. HawMorFords
Found while on our Honeymoon and staying at the near by Sheridan Resort. the hotel was quite average and a bit of a dissapointment, however the people of Fiji make up for it. A beautiful place to visit and the golf course is quite spectacular situated right on the sea front.

Didn't find you in Fiji. Drove to the gates and found that this entire area is now a construction site where there is extensive reinstatement works of the seawall that was damaged in the cyclone. Could not get to GZ for this reason and suspect the area where the cache is hidden has been uprooted. The guard was nowhere to be seen so could not enquire with him. Thought I would have another go at this after hours when the trucks and diggers were gone but the high tide made the walk impossible - it would have been a long swim.
Came here after the cyclone - every tree along the road is broken and the area is pretty devastated. We couldn't find anywhere that looked like it could safely keep the cache dry, though we did find a nice frog in a tree. Not sure if we just weren't thinking right, but we scouted 10m around the area. Disappointed as this was our only chance for a cache in Fiji
First international find - very hot humid & happy. Long walk in the heat, with a whinging wife, but worth it.

I am a travel agent on a work trip to Fiji from Australia visiting quite a few resorts. And seeing Fiji as we go along as well.
The nearby resort was on our list to see and to stay the night. So before dinner I made my way to this cache with our groups local guide, Joe. Approaching GZ we soon knew where we had to be and found the cache very quickly.
It is dry and nicely tucked away. Thanks for the cache.

Found it but obviously we took the long way to and from the cache site. My wife's pedometer read 13,500 steps by the time we got back to the hotel. However, I do have to give her credit for pointing out the likely hiding spot. After walking along a grassy road and then down the beach toward the cache, we passed the evil guard without a hitch; in fact, he gave us a friendly "bula" as we passed by. After signing the log we made a big mistake by heading back via the paved road---it was a long, hot walk. BUT, a cache find in Fiji. TFTC
walked, walked, walked, wave to security guard, go through an open fence, hey a road - let's follow it, look at all the mangroves, coord still leading us down the road, walk, walk, walk - beautiful golf course on the other side of the fence. Finally - GZ. TFTF SL
Couldn't decide which side of the fence to go but it turned out it didn't matter. We walked along the beach from the Wyndham and found it with out to much trouble. Don't forget to bring your own pen TFTC

With GZ in plain sight, a security patrol drove past us, and stopped beside the structure at the end of the road. I then managed to log a find, quickly re hide the cache before returning to the port for a yummy lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Great what a day!!! Walked from the Hilton all the way and through the gold course where they were hardly anyone for a beautiful course. Walked there with three friends and our trusty RoamingSIM with data on the iPhone. Not the same case as I thought but enough for paper. Three of us signed and enjoyed a long walk out the gates of the front of Denarau entrance!!!! Enjoyed it in anyway thanks
A nice walk along from the Radisson Resort. A great place to hide a cache at the nearby golf course and we dropped off a New Zealand Micro Geocoin. Cache and log look all good and dry but no sign of the other three trackables that are supposed to be in the cache. Hopefully our coin will be picked up and moved on to safer locations. TFTC cheers SiLiRy
How lucky we're we to find this. We arrived at Denarau on Sunday, but didn't get around to searching until Wednesday. During that time the cache went AWOL and was replaced. We've been staying at the nearby Worldmark resort. While its not as speccy as the others, it has kitchen facilities which allows us to save a heap of money. Also enjoyed a few trips into town to do grocery shopping. Thanks for the cache and we hope it survives a little longer.
As mentioned in our found log, we found the cache muggled (as in it was totally gone) and replaced it. However, being limited in what we could find in the time we had at the Sheraton (which didn't include Sistemas ) we've had to replace it with a micro.
It would be great if a future finder could possibly bring a new container (a 200ml Sistema would fit perfectly) and logbook, etc.
Also, the hint needs to be changed to suit the new location (I'd suggest just removing the hint entirely as it's not necessary with this gz), and the trackables marked as missing.
Thanks.

On our first full day at the absolutely gorgeous, decadent resorts up the beach (which we're probably enjoying a little too much!!) from here we decided to take a little walk and find this cache...
Nice walk down, even if the beaches aren't the best in the area, looking at what the other resorts had to offer and then enjoying a short-cut through the golf course. On arriving at GZ we checked a few likely spots and turned up nothing. So we regrouped and tried the other side of the fence.... And then back again... and then out on the road... and then the other side of the road... and then back to the obvious spots... No luck anywhere... Eventually I managed to prise ilovedrwho away from searching the same old territory and we returned home defeated.
Once home we took advantage of the free wifi to email a few of the previous finders and the recent re-hider who were all very helpful, and confirmed our fears that this cache had been muggled, as well as confirming the exact location. So with that knowledge we cobbled together a replacement (as it would be a shame to let this cache sit disabled) and returned to confirm that it was in fact muggled and we put the new container in place.
TFTC, and I hope we've done the best thing by replacing it, even if temporarily.

Walked here along the beach front from the Hilton with the whole family. Our 500th find!!. Swapped one tb for another. TFTC.
On holidays in Fiji and we find ourselves our first international cache!!! Staying at a nearby resort we walked along the beach to GZ, the GPS was having a hard time finding us and we were searching for ages until the local security guard came along and helped us look. What a funny afternoon we had. I was about to give up when I saw something not quite right, on closer inspection bam I had the prize in my hand. SL TFTC

After heading to the old location and doing a lot of circle work, we realized something was wrong. Some intel was required to get a hint then we discovered the new coords from back in Australia by a few txt's - back and fourth. We finally arrived at the new correct location to find a Virgin log book. Well, as good as new . We kissed the virgin and then wandered along another beach in Paradise. Thanx to Jumpendin2it for replacing the cache - well done. Clear skies from TeamAstro.
Bula! We are on holidays in Fiji and there is no way a holiday is complete without finding at least one cache! Before we left home, we noticed that the owner had taken the cache offline, so we contacted her and offered to replace the cache for her. At her request, we have relocated the hide to hopefully avoid it being muggled. We could see where the previous hide used to be, but there were prying eyes watching it. Hopefully this new location will be less likely to be muggled. The new co-ordinates are S 17 46.956; E 177 22.067 Vinaka TFTC
Coordinates changed from:
S 17° 46.970 E 177° 21.994
Coordinates changed to:
S 17° 46.956 E 177° 22.067
Distance from original: 430.9 feet or 131.3 meters.
After many mugglings, thanks to Jumpedin2it the cache has been relocated to (hopefully) a more secure location.

Thanks to Jumpedin2it, the cache has been relocated a little further down the fence line.
Oh this is a problematic cache! Will disable for a bit until we decide what to do with it.
Had aquick look while playing golf could not find it.Later that day walked along the beach for a better look,
looked high and low but could not find it. Spent quite abit of time but no go may be something has happened to it again .

Found the likely hiding spot and found remnants of the cache container and a pen. Looks like this needs maintenance again.
Thanks to Ghostflite and his cache replacement, this is up and running again! Many thanks Ghostflite. Happy caching
Believe me or not, I apparently found the old screw-top container, but not the new one. So I put a piece of paper and a geokrety plus a TB in and put the container back where it was. Direction golf course. TFTC / IWYC #1983
Visited this cache while in Fiji for work. Found the lid, a miniature ballet shoe and the pencil, but the container looks as though it lost a battle with the weed eater. A great spot, one I hope to visit again.
Did not check log for some time before looking for this cache.Visited from SUN PRINCESS cruise ship.Cache was OK if a bit waterlogged. Thanks for leaving cache in place and had nice walk advoiding the flying golf balls.
Argh! This one is so problematic! I'll have to get the cache guardian to take a look once I send him another new container.
A nice walk up the beach from the resort we where at. I was having trouble with my GPS we stopped off to chat to the security guard at the watch tower. He knew about the Cache and showed us where to look.
After find it we where very disappointed. The cache was completely full of water and all the items where tainted with rust. I laid out all the items in the sun to dry them out for about an hour. It was mostly dry and clean but will need some love.
We hang around talked to the guards, the golf course staff and the kids played in the park. The staff found us some fresh coconuts and opened them up for a refreshing drink. Great location!
Unfortunately we picked up "Life is a Beach" to bring it back to Australia. But it was in a bag we left by the pool at the Wyndham Resort next to the golf course and sadly was gone when we went back to get it.

TFTC. This was the only cache I got whilst in fiji but very pleased to of found this one.
Container may need to be replaced as it had a hole in it and was a bit water damaged.
Thanks again!

A lovely place for a Geocache. The weather was wet and windy, but that didnt stop us from walking to find this our first Cache in lovely Fiji.

AS I was coming back from a stay on the mamanuca islands I only had a few hours before i had to catch a flight out of Nadi so i decided to have a look. My phone GPS was not working so I had to try and remember where it was from looking at the map 10 days previous. Just my luck I made it to the right spot and remembered the clue whic helped me out heaps. Was bucketing down rain but I signed log and and dropped off a travel bug Koala and took Orion and son coin. Had hoped to set up my own cache on the islands but due to cyclone and tropical dressions I had to leave it for now, maybe when i'm back in Nov.

After contacting the owner on this one we arrived into port on the Rahpsody of the Seas. We started our walk from the Port and then I spotted some local help who guided us along a track through the Golf course and onto the beach. With only 60 mts to go along the beach I noticed a person walking towards us it turned out to be a security officer from the next door resort. We quickly found the cache and started the paper work when he asked me if I was looking for something and I said yes but a little confused as he held up a cache container. So I asked if I could look at it and it was the first cache container. So we spoke a little then I completed the paper work in that cache as well.I have put the smaller container and contents inside the larger of the two and all is good. Left TB and Took TBs.
Great spot and thanks for the cache. We walked back down the the Sheraton for a swim and some lunch. Then a $5 cab ride back to the Port.
Thanks for the Adventure we loved it.

Fantastic, our very first cache in Fiji, a very special moment! We had quite an issue due to the recent flooding in the area most towns like Nadi, Ba including Denerau port was closed for the last 4 days to let the rain water subside!
My father was Fijian and left for the UK when he was 20, will remember this cache for a while and and its also our 700th!

Just wanted to confirm that Mystery Inc called from Fiji last night and confirmed that she has placed a new cache container at this location.
Hi Guy's,
Just would like some info on how to get to this cache if I was to be docking near Denarua from a cruise ship?
Please and Thanks.
