Will take this off line till I can get out there. I suspect it has gone walkies. It's had a good run

DNF at 10:54

There was a lot of long grass along the fence line and, while I searched diligently, I couldn't find the container

Thanks ZZ7 for the cache, anyway

Could be missing. Several other caches from aroundthearea have been removed and/or stolen by someone. Owner will need to check.

Tankengine and I were heading into town for a spot of lunch and some more caching, so picked this cache up along the way.

Took a bit to find, but really obvious in the end. Don’t know how we missed it! Tftc Zsazsa7 & McWinTrex!!!

18-Dec-20
Very hard to spot in the long grass and the wind workers turned up as I was looking for it. Soon made a path along the fence and was able to spot it. TFTC

Out on a Sunday afternoon caching drive with Lpud. Quick park and grab with about 50 muggles looking on. Thanks for bringing us this way

21-Mar-20
Found on a warm Autumn day for another drive around the area. Wink
Todays mission was to do more of the Tarago and Collector series and others nearby.
Not much traffic today and some more interesting parking options.
Cache condition is OK/good.
Thanks for the cache ZZ7,

Spent the day on the eastern side of Lake George admiring the giant wind turbines. Hot and sadly so dry. Quick and easy find with great views over the turbines. TFTC ZZ7.

Whilst I am a fan of renewable energy, I do prefer solar for an unspoiled vista. Thanks to CO for bringing us here!

Of the 241 caches attempted, 225 were "Finds" and 16 were DNFs. All caches in good condition but generic log due to the sheer amount of how they blend into each other after a while. TFTC!

01-Dec-19
This weekend represents The Stumble's annual Canberra trip. We travelled from Goulburn through to Queanbeyan via Tarago (food and service is really good at the pub) and Bungendore.
Out of 241 caches attempted, 225 were "Finds" and 16 were "DNFs". All caches, unless otherwise stated were in good condition. Cache locations varied but those prickly trees were the WORST!! We did encounter a few unique hides which we have awarded FPs for.
We left a lot of swag along the way for the kidlets and deposited a couple of TBs that needed moving on.
To all the CO, TFTC and the (at times) challenges in finding them. Apologies for the generic logs but 241 caches blend in to each other after a while!!

These wind turbines are amazing. Thank you for the cache, we had lots of fun.

08-Jun-19
After a long drive i had to stop and pass some wind! Is it a coincidence that lots of sheep live in the paddocks surrounding these giant wind turbines? Lots of wind pass here!
Thanks for the cache.

Found during my adventures at the Clear Waters mega. Thank you for all the caches!

I love being close to these giants who are fighting the wind for us. TFTC!

22-Apr-19
On the way home from the mega and came back through Bungendore to find a few I missed.

22-Apr-19
On the Tarago PT today and made a quick detour to collect this one. Super windy this arv. Good place for a wind farm. Great place to put a cache! Geofolks are from Ararat Vic, where there is also a windfarm. Tftc xo

19-Apr-19
A big weekend of caching in the area thanks to the Clear Waters event in Queanbeyan. A lovely area with plenty of caches to keep us busy and engaged.

I’ve seen these guys off in the distance from the other side of Lake George and it was interesting to see them from this side. Cache was an easy find and not much wind today.

Thanks Zsazsa7 (with the help of McWinTrex) for placing and maintaining this cache. Well worth the detour.

15-Apr-19
Surprising just how many of these farms are popping up around the country when they are so inefficient at the moment. Easy find. Thanks for the cache.

13-Apr-19
A great morning of caching in Canberra, before heading out to Bungendore to finish of a powertrail. Even managed to squeeze in a parkrun at Mt Ainslie as well. Started a little fresh, but soon turned into a perfect caching day. All caches were found quick and easy, thanks to all cache owners for putting them out there!

Left Port Macquarie heading south to the Mega event At Canberra.
Arrived at Tarago staying behing the the Loaded Dog.
Caching today with Snakepiters & coongoola, great company & all caches were found.
Nice to get up & closer to the windmills which we had been noticing all morning
Thanks for placing this cache ZZ7

31-Mar-19
Day 2 in Tarago, with Coongoola and Di Morgan. Finishing off the Tarago series and a planned lunch which became morning tea in Bungendore. Finished the Tarago series and we turned off to grab the two along here. Geo wife had to be careful with the wind direction as it was being forced in one end it had to go somewhere He He. No seriously, it was very windy and the wind farms were spectacular.

We're camping at some quiet locations and great little towns that should lead us to the Mega at Queanbeyan.

Caching with Dimorgan and Snakepiters

After completing the Tarago Series PT, couldn’t leave a few random icons on a map I probably wouldn’t pass through again in the near future, so a quick detour to tick off this bonus extra on the way home. Some say the wind farms are a blight on the landscape, but they are quite impressive up close and made no more noise than the hum of a far-off small plane.

Quick find on a road trip...TFTC!

Windmills to the left of me, windmills to the right. They're even right in front of me!

FoundOn the 1st Aquilus1 and I were supposed to be first day of a three day adventure going deep into the Heart Of Darkness.... all the way through NSW to Bogan Shire to claim a multitude of counties... but (and there is usually a but) unfortunately I no longer had three days available, just two. So, last minute change of plans was for us go to the coast and go north, and see how we went. I even solved the only puzzle on the road before leaving.

So.... it ended up being a great loop, clearing out the road from Bungendore to Nerriga and going on to claim about a dozen shires. Clearing out an area is always slow going, but we were methodical... No Cache Left Behind as dubya would have said, despite the constant rain.... at least after Nerriga it was more a trip to claim counties than to clean out the map.

Late on the 1st we remembered that we should eat, probably before everything closes... luckily we found a Thai place in Berry that grumpily let us in while staring at the clock.... no mind! The food was great. Frantic internet searching looking for a motel then ensued while waiting for our dinner... all was well, we had fine lodgings awaiting us in Kiama.

On the 2nd the rain was looking like it was going to set in for the day as well, but we soon realised it was the fog that was going to be our nemesis.... it was unbelievable and downright scary... glad I wasn't driving! But, in the pea-souper, we somehow missed our turn to The Shire and ended up near Appin, no mind, we can continue in this direction.

Not sure I can even remember all the councils we passed through and grabbed a cache or two in, but here goes:
Queanbeyan-Palerang,
Goulburn-Mulwaree
Shoalhaven
Kiama
Shellharbour
Wollongong
Wollondilly
Campbelltown
Camden
Liverpool
Fairfield
Canterbury-Bankstown
Cumberland
Strathfield
Canada Bay
Burwood
Inner West
Sydney
Woollahra
Waverley
Randwick
Bayside
Georges River
Sutherland Shire

With GreyHams we had planned to head out for a three day trip into NSW for some counties, all the way to Bogan Shire! We had 14 counties on the route but a change of plans meant only the two days were available so plan B had us heading towards the coast and up towards Sydney.

All a bit of a last minute change but all good, GreyHams had a plan! Off we set, we had 5 counties on the list and would see how many more we had the time for. The new route had us driving up towards Bungendore to Tarago and then across towards Nerriga to Jervis Bay. A good trail of caches and we searched for them all, a few DNF's but mostly a successful trip through with a variety of caches found and some really great locations visited.

The rain set in about Nerriga, light and steady, and we both ended up more than a little damp at times, super fun when looking for a cache in the wet bushes! Mostly we cleared a nice path along the way with a few caches down some side tracks, a few puddles to play with along them and the only Mystery along the way... Well thanks to GreyHams for knitting that one out!

Stopped in Berry for a nice Thai dinner and then on to Kiama where we stopped for the night.

Woke to more rain but continued on North stopping at each county along the way for a cache and anything else interesting. Thankfully the rain did end up clearing... in its place there was the thickest of fog to navigate through, no worries about that on the Motorway with the traffic and almost no visibility!

Slightly turned about in the fog we did end up off track but worked out well in the end with a new course set and off to conquer the counties along the way into and around Sydney. A surprising 25 counties visited in the end, much more than expected but happy with the result and a good couple of days away to do it in. Thanks to all the CO's for your caches, apologies for the generic log, any additional cache information has been added to the end of this log.

Love these wind turbines, look great all spinning about. Easy find.

One thousand two hundredth - but who's counting? Moi! It was so good to get off that wretchedly busy road which must have more trucks on it than the Hume Highway! And what a destination - how good is this? Fantastic view and the wind turbines only enhance it in my eyes. I can understand why they are there - strongest wind yet but did make it to the cache and back. Be careful of wildlife on this lovely road - a shingleback and a turtle were two things crossing - thank you for bringing me here - a fave from me.

25-Oct-18
Heading out today from our base camp we decided to try and add some numbers to the tally. So a run along the road between Goulburn and Bungendore seemed like a good choice. The road was a very busy one, especially with the many trucks travelling at speed along it.
We took a detour here from the main road to look for this cache. It was quickly spotted and the log was soon signed.
Wind seems to be the way to go for power. Thanks to Zsazsa7 for bringing us here with the placement of this cache.

Out to pick up some caches with goingplaces2. Spotted it quickly. Signed log. TFTC.

The next cache on the agenda today while doing some country roads between Bungendore and Goulburn!

Wow I always see the wind turbines in the distance whilst travelling to Sydney, and I am sure they have brought up many family conversations before, but this is my first time ever being this close to them around the other side of Lake George! A really awesome location and they are so much bigger and more spread out in person. What a top cache!

Thanks for bringing me here! Pic added that I took from GZ as well Smile

This was my first of many for the day, couldnt beleive I needed to wait for a muggle jogger to pass before making the grab.

#7789 -12:35; It was a fine summer's day in the Nation's Capital and I decided to take a caching run north through Bungendore and on to Goulburn via the windfarms, Currawang and Komungla. After a short detour to the east, I was now headed along Taylors Creek Road through to Currawang. This one was a quick park and grab as I headed past. The wind turbines don't look as spread out as they really are when you look at the from across the other side of Lake George! TFTC ZZ7 et al Smile

Quick park and sign with a great view over lake george and the wind turbines. Tftc

On our way to a CITO in Canberra, but as always minniek and I just can't resist grabbing some caches on the way.. such beautiful and magestix turbines. A wonderful spot to celebrate minniek's 1700th cache.

25-Sep-17
Taking advantage of a public holiday, nibletricecakes and I headed out with a plan to end up at our third CITO for the weekend.

This was number two for the day, after an early start out of Goulburn. It is also number 1700 for me! Have wanted to stop by here for a while but never found the time. So glad to get here today.

23-Aug-17
This was a complete surprise. Great views all around and nice road to travel on.
Thanks for getting us so close to the wind generators. TFTC

How special is this area. The wind farms are amazing!!

20-Aug-17
Neat views. Ta.
The log is dry but the worse for wear!

24-Jul-17
Easy enough find. Didn't seem to be anyone watching from the shearing shed just up the hill. Log was very damp, so took it for a little ride with me to the next cache so it could dry out. Mission accomplished, and carefully placed the now dry log back into container. Hopefully it won't leak again.
Good views across the valley up here.

Cache quickly found and did our best to sign it as the log was a little wet and sadly didn't have a replacement log on hand today. Thanks Zsazsa7 for the lovely scenic drive here.

A caching trip to-day, Bungendore, Tarago Goulburn and return to Canberra via Lake George. TFTC.

01-Mar-17
Great view from here of the sculptural wind turbines; which I normally only see in the distance from the other side of the lake. I wouldn't mind that view from my house. TFTC ZZ7.

Great looking wind turbines. Not noisy at all Smile. A favourite for showing me the view. TFTC ZZ7.

Wow so windy no wonder they put the turbines here.

17-Dec-16
Fitzy_1965 and I headed out for a drive in the country that took us from Bungendore to Crookwell and home again. Needless to say, we both found quite a few caches for the day - my total was around 36. We skipped caches in Goulburn, saving those for another day. Due to a fail with loading caches on my GPS, I resorted to using the phone for quick logs to mark those found and not. Thanks to all the cache owners for their hides and Fitzy for the fun company!

fifth find of the morning for me. I was having trouble getting coverage, so Fitzy tried to help by randomly stopping along the road and saying "this looks familiar"! I finally got some coverage, and viola - the cache was a km or so away! It was a different hide to when Fitzy found it anyway Smile

These wind turbines are so beautiful. And the sheep! nice easy find, tftc.

02-Oct-16
We decided to have a day out geocaching, and to do some in an area we normally drive through on our way to other places.
This was a detour on our trip, and well worth it. What a great spot. We have seen the turbines plenty of times from the Federal Highway, but not from this side. And a bonus, being able to see a lot of water in Lake George from here. TFTC

30-Sep-16
Nice road. I'd never have come out here except for this cache.

28-Sep-16
Found on second attempt due to muggle lurking in vicinity

Easily found on my home from orienteering in Penrose Forest, via a few detours. TFTC.

09-Jul-16
TFTC. Found this one on a not very windy day so the turbines were moving very slowly. Well camouflaged. On our road trip to Dubbo with a short stopover for a birthday party first. TB's stopped for a visit

19-May-16
Wow, we must of picked the windest day of the year to do this cache - we could hardly open the cruiser's door and even the gpsr seemed to be spinning. Geowife always wanted a property on the top of a hill overlooking some wind turbines - not any more. Luckily we didn't have a dog on a lead!!! Anyway we survived being blown to goodness knows where and retrieved and signed the cache. TFTC ZZ7

07-May-16
After a trip up lake road we made our way back to Canberra up the back roads. Pity you can't get closer to these structures.

Easy find on a windy and cold day. No guesses as to why they put wind generators here !

Log was very wet so we couldn't write on it or it would have torn.

The sunny day was too good to waste so I decided a countryside geomission was in order Smile

Moving on with my countryside geomission and this one was next. Lovely drive up to GZ where making the find on the cache was a breeze [:o)]. I've never seen these wind turbines up close-I've always seen them spinning away when I've been driving along the Federal Highway at Lake George. They are huge!!!

Thanks for the hide and for bringing me to this interesting spot, ZZ7. Fave from me Smile

Out with Napalm 237, collecting caches along the old highway today, heading to lake George.
NP had navigation duties, whilst i drove my trusty Subi Geowagan

After finishing down by the shore of the lake, i wanted to grab this one, so made the 30 minute drive around to the other side of the lake.

i was hopeing to get closer to the turbines, but was happy with the location and NP signed the log

thanks ZZ7

We were exploring this lovely little the area this evening and given it would likely be ages before we got another chance, decided to grab a few caches.

Straightforward little cache in a part of the world I wouldn't normally come. These back roads are great for caching and showing travelers different parts of the local area.

TFTC and the beautiful views.
