A short detour during our bike ride to replace the cache. Such a beautiful place to be, after 78 years of regeneration.
What an amazing patch of bush; I’ll be back to show family this area. Thanks for the precise hint, it certainly helped.
Was planning to pull over for a nearby cache. Saw a place to stop and discovered I was closer to this one. Another great reason to geocache- finding these previously unknown gems of places! Track quite overgrown at present. Did the whole thing with a loop. Lots of bird sound so nice to spend a while in the cool on a hot day
No caching during Covid-19 alert levels Level 3 & 4.
This includes virtual waypoints - we need to stay home except for essential outings.
Working together, we can beat delta and keep our community safe.

The track was a bit damp & slippery in places after the recent rain. No problems though, apart from not stooping low enough to dodge a low branch on the return via the loop - ouch! Logbook is damp, but still usable. Thanks for taking me to this great wee pocket of bush.
Another spot I wouldn’t have known about without geocaching. Walked to the end and back via the loop. Thanks for bringing me to this wonderful spot and thanks for the cache.
Cache in pretty good condition after 20 months without a find.

New Zealand is under Level 4 lockdown from today for at least a month, because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
I am disabling all my caches for the meantime to remind people that we MUST break the chain of infection.
Covid-19 is now being spread within the community, person to person. We know that the virus will remain on surfaces like metal and plastic for up to 4 days.
We have only one chance to stop the Covid-19 virus spreading further. This is to BREAK the chain of infection by keeping each household separated completely. During this time each of us MUST keep isolated and only share with the people in our own household.
The best advice is to act as though you are infected... which you might be. We know there are cases in Dunedin... I might be infected and so might you.
If you touch a cache container, you will leave viruses on the plastic, logbook and pen. Those will remain infectious for up to 4 days. Suppose some other person finds the cache tomorrow. They are likely to pick up those viruses and will get infected.
Playground equipment is out of bounds for exactly that reason- touching surfaces can spread infection.
Each of us has to do our bit to save lives. If the Covid-19 virus spreads, a lot of us will die. Maybe your grandmother, or my friend who has just had a bone-marrow transplant.
Stay home, stay safe, let's get to the other side of the pandemic before we go geocaching again.

This is some absolutely gorgeous bush!! Great job Mr and Mrs Moore. Hard to believe this was all paddock so many years ago. Had an amazing walk through the bush, and it took me a little while to zero in on the cache, but I was able to head home easily.
One thing to note, it appears a tree has fallen across the path shortly after the loop turnoff, and while it was easy enough to cross for me with my long legs, it might make this a little higher terrain rating for shorter people. Even with all my skill and grace I still almost faceplanted over it on the way back...

This little walk is well worth it. Some lovely bush with a stream through it. Cache in good condition.
A wee detour here on our way to Sullivans Dam via Leith Valley. A lovely wee walk and then thanks to the hint cache was located safe and sound. TFTC
Lovely piece of bush. A little wet underfoot today but manageable. Entered via Thompson Rd park. Thought I'd walk out the northern entry but couldn't find my way. Decided to turn around and follow the track I'd already walked. TFTC
Who knew!? Obviously the CO but like so many other visitors I had no idea about this precious gem! Thanks for bringing us here. Explicit hint maybe but still took some finding. TFTC
Another track I didn't know existed. The cache was a difficult one to spot and the hint was very helpful for this one. Thanks
Amazing, never knew this little track existed! I got quite excited walking through there!
Cache was well concealed too, I nearly didn't find it!

Thanks for putting a cache here, I'd never have known this neat spot existed otherwise.
After visiting Sullivan's Dam it was a slow trip back down Leith Valley Rd picking up the odd cache here and there.
I should have either worn long pants or gaiters. My hairy legs were a magnet for the hook grass seeds.
Swapped TBs here.
Cheers for the cache.

The plan was hatched a few years ago now and it has been a standing weekend away with a few of us mad keen cachers. This trip was made up of Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and me (TheWanglers). We couldn't use a previous anagram to sign the logs as one member was in Aussie. So we had to come up with another... Hmm, KiTT? We decided on KiTT but after signing the first few logs something KR mentioned took a while for me to sink in and I didn't really take on board until the next time I signed the log. "Hey, the double 'TT' looks like Pi!". Oh, that's what KR said! So we signed the log this trip as KaTT pronounced 'Kapai'! And the trip was kapai!!! We had an epic weekend starting with a detour to Peel Forrest for a few FTFs, stopped in Omaru, thrashed Dunedin and detoured to Port Charmers for a FTF and then back to Pleasant Point and Peel Forrest to finish off the weekend with more FTFs. We got home to our families at a respectable hour after clocking up just over 1100km!
We had a few milestones we really wanted to crack. My 4000th, TG's 5000th and KR's 10,000th. We cracked my and KR's goal and got really close for TG. It really is about the numbers. This trip was awesome as it has given me some ideas
We decided to try and get a few around Dunedin head north up the Leith and Waitati valleys and back into town over Mt Cargill. We stopped in Waitati for a great lunch. The weather played nicely too. We stuck around town to grab the ones in town before it got too busy. Nice quick stroll and find.
Thanks for the cache.

Cache number 30 for todays total of 115
Cache 153 of my total of 288 for this epic trip!

A nice walk and stream crossing (Dry feet a bonus). Thanks for the stop.
Canterbury show weekend and time for our annual road trip to some place with plenty of boxes to find. One player short this year as PurdiePurdie got a better offer over the Tasman, (no not another MEGA).
TheWanglers, Team Gaters and I took off at 4:45am for Dunedin for a weekend of fun frivolity and finds. The plan was to get as many as we could, while still having a good old time, which we managed in abundance. Logs were generally signed kaTT, which actually should read ka pai, but I can not seem to get pi as a symbol.
A great time was had by all.
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

Show weekend and a Road Trip to Dunedin with 'The Boys'....Karma Reprint & TheWanglers. Initially came up with the acronym KiTT but on seeing the TT looked like a Pi symbol we quickly changed to Ka(Pi) (ie. Kapai)....and a fantastic weekend it was. 3 days, 1100km, a heap of caches and great fun.
What a lovely spot. Driving through the valley grabbing a few caches along the way. Parked up and entered from the Leith Valley entrance. Track not to bad and managed to cross the stream without getting wet feet (bonus!). Nice regenerating & planted bush. Cheers.

Love the work that these people have done we parked in the car park and made our way around the loop track and to the cache location, after a little bit of hunting the cache was in hand, Logged find with Guwapo and Granville86a
Guwapo and Papa out and about with Uncle Granville and Chosen. A short search and found by Chosen. Salamat!
Found with Chosen1978 Guwapo and Papa. A great little treasure. Loved the walk through the forest to GZ. Thanks for bringing us to this wonderful spot.
Lovely wee walk, which we didn't know existed. Kudos to the Moores! Cache container had water in it, which we dried out. Luckily the contents were in plastic bags which saved them. Gets a fav from us. Dropped off TB.
Thanks for a great walk on a sunny day. Really enjoyed it the kids got to tramp through mud even if I told them to go round it. Love the setting and will be coming back. Did not even know this place was here. TFTC and a favourite from me.
The DNF notification came through as we were recovering from a morning bike ride... felt slightly worried as there was a Forest & Bird weeding bee in the reserve on Saturday. So a short stroll in native bush to enjoy the lovely almost-spring afternoon. Luckily all good! About six inches to the left of where scottlisatamara were looking, it's amazing how hard a black container is to see.
Have dropped offf Mr Bard to enjoy the NZ bush here. Hope someone can pick him up soon!

Lovely spot but no success. Lots of ferns.... Found a "hole" that looked like it had housed a container but not sure Ifor was right or not.
A lovely hidden short walking track that is well worth the effort. Found with Aoraki Sheep on day 28 in 31 days of geocaching
The hint proved very helpful as our co-ords were about 10m out. Found with debsnz
What a wonderful wee haven tucked away in the hills! This is what I love about geocaching - bringing me to places like this. And a magnificent Rimini tree. Thank you.
Cool place! We really enjoyed the muddy walk to this one - thank goodness for the gumboots! Lots of really interesting trees along the way. TFTC!
One of the best caches for the day.
Liked the area, the short walk through the bush and past the stream.
Good big cache soon found
Earns its first favourite point!

Quite a bit more of a mission than we were expecting to get to this one, but well worth it. Great area and another great daywalk cache. Thanks!
Fun little stroll through the paddock, though should have worn my proper boots as got one a little damp on the way to the cache. Cheers Gav
At last! Been here twice b4 with no luck. An additional hint since my last visit sure helped. TNLN. HOTA
Finally found the time for a late afternoon/early evening stroll here after a good bucketing down - thanks so much for bringing us to this gem of a place I only knew as a place on the map TFTC!!!
Ran out of time last time I was in this area, so nice to grab this one this time a round. Came in from the top to save walking (I had walk about 18 kms by then so was feeling a tad knackered). Stream crossing was 'interesting'.
Great area. Lovely to see the bush regenerating and the new plantings coming on.

Checked - all as it should be. Always nice to see how well the plantings are growing.
A great bit of reclamation there, a nice stroll in a bit of drizzle from the Thompson Rd end and a quick search had the cache in hand.
Still dry, despite lots of snow still lying around.

A really nice walk to take the kids on, there were even dragons (camouflaged of course) hiding in the trees) Thanks for taking us to this really cool area.
Thanks Gibler. New log book, double bagged this time. NCEA results are out today- I suspect that some students may have received an NA for this particular achievement standard.
I had to use the hint - how I missed it was beyond me.
Alas, when found the lid was off the cache ...
thanks for a new area.

A straightforward find at a location we have not previously visited, with a nice native bush walk. TFTC

Great place for a cache, I Wondered when one would pop up here, it was raining but the birds were still about.

Find No 350, so great to mark this minor achievement with this lovely caching experience. I was second visitor today, but first to log.
Many years ago I went to Skippers along with Mr and Mrs percy Moore and others. Percy was a great character in his day!
Dropped off Kenny Koala TB. Had a heap of trackables along with me, but could only fit one into the container. Great stash.

This is a really neat cache. This is what I believe caching is, or should be, all about. Taking us to places we have never been, and would never have known existed, without geocaching. With the directions and the clue you shouldn't need the GPS, and it might not be much use until you are standing next to the cache anyway; mine wasn't. Highly recommended. Thanks.
Found it at 11:45, my 685th find.
WOW, another FTF a day after my last one. Surprised that this hadn't been found by now.
A lovely bush walk although a bit muddy at the moment. It would be a great walk on a warm and sunny Summer's day.
A nice little Daywalk...

Realised late morning that no FTF had been claimed so shot off to track this one down. 50 metres from GZ my Blackberry beeped and, for the second day in a row, Kev's FTF log came through. Grrrr. Still, a lovely place for a walk and not somewhere that is particularly easy to find so it is excellent there is a cache here now. The curse of the 'easy' find struck again and it took me a few minutes to find the cache, eventually locating it back in the first place I looked (I must need glasses!). I did intend to do the loop track on the way back but a small shower of rain gave me the motivation to head back to the car. Will definately look to return with the kids in the warmer weather. TFTC!
