Day thirty nine of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris.Staying in Rotorua, visited Hobbiton for a tour and lunch. That night we went to the Night Tree Top walk in the redwood forest. We started at the wrong sign which made the search a bit longer despite the good size of the container.Someone had not read the instructions and had place a bit of paper for a log in the top of the container. Thanks, Robmc.
Day 39 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and today was all about Hobbits. We were off to Hobbiton for the tour and lunch and had time for a couple of caches along the way.Our coordinates today had us at one of the other signs. Looks like we weren't the only ones. Thanks for contributing to an amazing holiday.
OHC and I had taken the opportunity to jump the ditch and explore New Zealand for a few weeks. Today is our second full day here and we were looking forward to all that we will see and find.OHC needed this date to fill a gap in a calendar. This was a nice quick find and we were on our way again. Thanks for placing this cache for all to enjoy.
Armed with jandals and a chilly bin, a couple of Aussies headed across the ditch for a 3-week tiki tour, exploring the beauty of New Zealand.DAY 3: Auckland to Rotorua via Hamilton. This is an unusual date which I needed to complete my trad calendar grid. Thankfully a quick find, then on to the next. Thanks for showing us this special place by placing this cache, squirrel nutcase tn koe~~
Out with the bro on our way home stopped in to grab this one. This was a really cool find Thanks heaps
Making our way home late Saturday night, thought it would be rude not to attempt this one (again!) The first time we were met with torrential rain and made for an unpleasant find, this time we were luckier, just frosty.Reading through logs and hints to narrow down where this one was hiding, Kiwi Does said the magic words and under the cover of darkness we made our autograph present. TFTC! Back to the warmth now..
We had previously had a couple of loose attempts at this cache, but each time is was raining and just horrible so we gave up. After seeing that CO had done some maintenance, and the hint had changed, we committed on our way back home. Following the coordinates and the hint, we started hunting around to no luck. So I moved to a different sign where there was a reasonably defined path that lead straight to the cache. Coordinates were approx. 8m off, and had us looking at the second sign originally. Glad to finally have this one cleared off
It was a good opportunity to perform some maintenance on this cache after the recent DNF log. The cache was still there and partially visible. I tidied the cache and removed some of the old, rusty swag. I applied some liquid nails around the screw / lid to hold it in place. It wasn't really needed, but is good for aesthetics...
We needed to get one last "street" in the Monopoly set and this was in Rotorua. As we had a spare day we bundled Geodog into the car and headed for a day trip to Rotorua to take ONE PHOTO! We of course had to stop and attempt a few other caches on the way.Loved this one. Mrs NZTravellers said it had to be there... there it was. Fav point for the cache container.TFTC
School holidays so time for a road trip and some caching. Enjoyed this unusual cache. No problems finding it. Thanks for the smiley.
The hint is spot on. Everything is all good for this cache. We are on our way to Tīrau to get our daughter in chch some sheepskin slippers and also fills in a dot day and one for this months challenge. Great cache. Thanks for the effort and placement.
Heading back north today and turned into the side road here. Found this nice cache after a short scramble around, TFTC
No idea how I didn’t find it last time, because it was fairly obvious, big Geo Trail going to it, I have replaced the log, it’s all good now, thanks!
1845. 9:15 am. Our first find on our roadtrip! Although also our first attempt so 1 for 1 so far. Found with eKitten. TFT(lower than expected)C(with interesting vessel).
Making an impromptu trip to Rotorua so of course had to grab a few impromptu caches. Quick easy park and grab for us but boy did we see a lot of water. Cache needs a new log sheet. TFTC .
Yes now thats a novel camo found it after a scratch around the under growth and fernsthanks Squirrel for your efforts
Finally can log a find on this one. We looked hard last time for this, but obviously not in the correct spot. Today I followed my gps to the same spit as last time. Lots of "dead marines" but no cache. Macwatt moved a bit to the right and spotted this well camoed cache. Thanks for the placement Ghost-train
Wooohoo excellent find, grab, sign and flee.
A bit damp but still writable.

I finally had an opportunity to check on this hide. It is still in place, though ground zone has changed over time. The cache container has needed repair for some time, but it is serviceable for now…
Very nice hide! Took a while to find, its camoed very well. Once found I sent _parryside_ in to retrieve it for us. Can is abit rusty and not the easiest to unscrew but otherwise cache is allgood with plenty of trinkets inside. Thanks for the cache!!
On a trip to Rotorua for an event this weekend and making a few stops along the way. Thanks for placing Ghost-train. GAR laid hands on the cache after I completely missed it. Wasn't closing as it should but managed to get it sorted in the end.
Found with Piwaka54. Great clues and lovely spot. Can very rusty but contents all good! TFTC
North Island Campervan trip Day 7
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night I ended up spending the night at the DOC site near Okere Falls, which was nicely quiet and a great place to start my day from. I knew that tonight I would be in Kaiwaka visiting friends there, but today would be a lot of driving to get there so plenty of opportunity for caching.
The road was very quiet today so I was able to park very close to GZ, and the cache itself only took me a moment to find. A good sized container, but once opened the inner container is rusty as .... and could really do with replacing before someone cuts themselves on the rusty jagged edge of it. However I quickly added my name to the sheet and then was back on my way again.
Thanks for setting this cache up.

Cunning hide on way home. Log wet, inner container lid doesn't fit. Tftc.
Traveling around in a Campervan for a one week break and finding a few caches each day on the way. TFTC
Heading home from Rotorua after a weekend away with Jag50 for the GC45 plaque event so collecting a few caches on the way. A nice quick find here though the cache has seen better days
Heading home from our first road since COVID-19 at Rotorua, we stopped to collect a few caches on the way home. There wasn’t much traffic on the road as we headed north so we were able to exit the motorway and park in the side street. We somehow missed the cache on our first look but then spotted it tucked away. Unfortunately the cache is no longer working as it once did.
I was heading down to Rotorua for the plaque unveiling for GC45 - the first geocache placed outside of the US.
Today I was targeting high fave caches around the city centre before heading back up to Auckland. Glad there was a road here for me to park down and right beside GZ. I soon had the cache in hand and signing the log.

I'm on my way down from Paihia to a special event in Rotorua to celebrate 20 years of geocaching history in NZ. I stayed at my sons in Auckland last night then got up at 6am to continue the journey south.
It's nice to pick up some caches on the way. This was my third stop for the day and filled in a blank spot along this route. I hadn't stopped here last time I was down as we were running out of time. Geocaching always takes longer than expected.
I didn't get the clue at first but once I found the cache I had a Doh moment. I try to attend as many Cito's as I can but they're usually an hour from home so it's not easy. Nice to see a 10 year old cache still going, thanks

This was to be my last find for the day, and this adventure
I found parking nearby, and searched initially in the wrong spot, the spied the framing of the old sign, and wandered down, and was rewarded by finding the cache.
Happy to have found this one, thanks for the hide Ghost-train, a bit of creativity here.

On a very rare weekend away with Mrs Tuolei and Albert the Geohound and about to get rarer it would seems with the latest announcement which came out as we were approaching Rotorua. It was quite remarkable how quiet the highways were, so quick progress was made.
Snuck around the corner from the main road and pulled in pretty much at exactly the right spot. Couple of obvious choices to look at - not at the most obvious one but was at the second. This must have been quite the cache in the day - time has caught up with it a bit so it doesn't quite work as originally intended - but still pretty cool.
Thanks for the cache - all good here.

Mobile signal not good up here so no hint but catchers instinct kicked in and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC
The big sign shown in some of the pictures in the gallery is now missing.
All that's left is the frame.
The cache container doesn't quite close the way it was designed, but it's still a very nice cache and quite hard to find.

After a bit of back and forth, forraging in the under growth, this was quick snagged. Took some trash with me. TFTC
Stopped for this one on our way to Rotorua. Searched where we thought it be logical for the cache to be, and a bit around as well, but with no luck. Since it was getting cold and dark, we did not spend too much time, but continued our journey.
Time to start heading down the island towards home in Feilding, however I’m stopping if in Rotorua for a night at the holiday home that they have rented for a couple of days.
I set off early and I didn’t want to spend too much time caching prior to Auckland as I wasn’t sure what the traffic was going to be like through the city. However I decided to grab a few on the way. Got through Auckland in good time and now I’ve got a bit more luxury for some more caching.
Another quick find. Grabbed the trackable. Tftc

On our way back to Auckland to the airport we took this Trashcache along the road as our last one in New Zealand. We searched for a while, but finally we found the container.
Almost hmgkt sprung by the boys in blue then local workmen. All is good. Signed and got away
GPS was all over the place on this one for some reason, but spotted in its sneaky hiding spot thanks to the hint. TFTC!
Another stopover on our road trip north. Today we’re heading from Rotorua to Auckland to return the camper van before Mr Potty and I fly back to London and Mumander flies back South.
A quick find. A very creative cache. We also managed to fill our bag quickly with roadside litter but couldn’t take away the sofa and chair dumped along the road so have attached a picture.

Today we had our second day in Rotorua and made a trip around the wonderful Hobbiton area in Matamata. Special emphasis had we on a visit in Hobbiton. On this trip we searched, found and logged many caches, too. The weather was bad in the morning, not sunny, but it got better and worse all day long, including raining from time to time. Only sometimes then there was some sun to be seen.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had better things to do than observing two geocachers.
Thanks to Ghost-train for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Trashman. The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

I've looked for thus cache once before and struggled to find it. Better luck today and I could see it in the hidey hole from my car. Dropped Priscilla off for a change of scenery.
Heading to Rotorua for a big day of caching and I need this cache for 2 challenges I'm working on at the moment. Might as well kill two birds with one stone eh! Parked up right by the sign but it was just a frame but I still found the cache anyway. Plenty of rubbish in this area... would take dozens of bags to clear this flamin' lot.
Nice find. Took a while as we were looking behind the wrong sign. Had to check a couple of likely locations before we found the right one. Added a replacement log sheet as previous one was full. TFTC
Looks like the container had been damaged, we were able to fix we think by following opening instructions
Spent a bit of time examining signs then geowife read out a few activities and cache was soon in hand, signed and returned.
This cache turned out to be a little bit 'exciting' tonight... after getting the cache I was returning to Rotorua when I noticed my petrol light flashing... was dimly aware that it might have been flashing this morning too... and possibly last night was well. Got back as far as the Agrodome before actually running out of petrol completely... the first time this has ever happened to me I think! Meanwhile the cache is still safe and sound in it's little resting spot. TFTC and the inadvertent adventure.
Stopped on our way to Rotorua to take out the trash! But we didn't take it out, we just left it there! tftc!
Solved a few Rotorua puzzles yesterday so taking the scenic route to get them and grab a few strays on the way. I'm afraid the sign (and, presumably, the rationale for the cache name) has gone but the cache is still there in good condition. TFTC.
Heading to Rotorua after a few days in Matamata.
Still chasing after the planets, doing my part for the Planetary Pursuit promotion. of the 500 points I need to reach Pluto, I now have over 2000. Where does that put me? The Oort Cloud?

NZPatoto and I were heading to Rotorua to visit (find) our grandparent's and Aunty's graves. NZPatoto organised 6 caches to find along the way. Found all 6. Had a nice day out, I shouted lunch in Rotorua as NZPatoto drove. The rain started when we decided to do some shopping before returning home. #4. Easy find for me. Log all good and another one off the list. TFTC

Had a nice day out and the rain only started when we decided to do some shopping before returning home. #4. Wasn't too much trouble to get to. There was no dust today. Cache in good nick. TFTC.
