We are travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are in Beautiful Mt Gambier for a few days, soaking up the amazing things this area has to offer. We especially love the bush, the back roads, and the wild southern seas. TFTC. LNCU.
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on. SA caching foray. Staying in Mount Gambier for a week to grab some of the local hides. Its been sixteen years since since we were last here so enjoying the re-visit. Love the country roads caching. Thanks for the hideLNCU
Last SA cache on our 2023 SESA tour. This was a target due to its D/T ratng. Now that there is so much forestry activity in the area the road is an easy drive, but you still need to walk and fight the vegetation to get to GZ.Like others we found the open container down the hill all wet and unusable. We have replaced the container with a Victorian Whittlesea MEGA container with new log book (keeping the old log book there). Look higher than you may expect and hopefully the animals leave it in its new home. Thanks for the adventure.
This cache was very nearly a drive by. We sat and watched a couple of emus for quite some time. They were very close by. The cache was found with no problems. Thanks for bringing us here with its placing.
This was a nice quick cache that we almost drove right up to. I spent way too long watching some emus nearby whilst papi4506 made the find. Thanks for the cache.
Always keen for a T5 challenge, this cache was on my list today. Drove the car to within 30m of the cache and then went bush. The scrub was quite traversable getting to GZ, whuch took about 30 seconds to walk, but after hunting around for 5mins I couldn't find anything. How hard can it be finding an orange and white container here... it should stick out...!
Then spotted something orange poking out of the leaf litter 6m downhill of GZ. It was the perished lid. Hunted around more for the container and finally found it half buried by leaves and 12m from GZ with the log book dry and in good condition, albeit the cache container has perished. Signed the log and replaced at GZ so that the log should stay dry.

Got within 20 meters and my phone died and to much vegetation to find without direction
Take the sandy 4x4 track up to top & prepare to fight thru this scrub. My god! Take a chainsaw or a machete & don your Indiana Jones hat in here! Cache container (500mil white with orange lid) is weather perished & logbook is soaked. Unable to sign. If able, can a cacher change out the container & pop in a new book. I'd leave the old book in there to dry out if possible. Impassable...not fun.
Impassable is correct, incredibly overgrown. But with perseverance BraydsSA came up with the goods. Couldn’t sign the log as the log book was water logged and the pen was missing. Unable to replace the items as didn’t have them on hand. TFTC TNLN .
The great Southeast Saunter with Anymules down to the Millicent area to find caches associated with the postponed GV2020 mega. But with leave organized and accommodation booked the caching trip was not postponed! [^]
Day 8: With Events scheduled in Mt. Gambier for Lunch and Naracoorte for Dinner it was clear which directions we would be caching in today. So we looked to weave about looking for unusual D/T combinations again as well as clearing a few DNF's from the map as we made our way to the events.
We managed to get pretty close to the cache buty that is where the fun started. [^] The scrub took quite a bit of time to get through but get through we did and soon had the cache in hand.
Quite a few emus like this place.
***Thanks wmf138 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

A beautiful day in early Spring to try for a few caches in the back roads south east of Mount Gambier.
No access via the quarry but by taking the track at the edge of the pine plantation we were able to access the cache. Thought we were going to get a DNF here but Mt sylken came up with the goods after an extensive search
Many thanks for the hide wmf138

Headed out to explore a bit further afield today. Had to dodge the drizzle but still had fun out and about in the Pine forests and surrounds.
Wow that is indeed overgrown.

Today was a day scuba diving a sinkhole and cave with a few friends, and then I got the chance to take them to a few geocaches coming back up back to Mount Gambier. They really enjoyed the locations that geocaching took us too, and it helped that I concentrated on some of the adventure higher terrain ones. Finished off the day checking out some of the glow mushrooms near Glencoe also, which was a real highlight, and recommendation if you're in the area between May to June.
Hard to 4WD this track today with a number of downed trees. In the end, within a few hundred metres, I parked my jeep and did the rest on foot towards the geocache. I did a big circle of the GZ coordinates and bush bashed a few times. Didn't realise it was in so deep, but finally found a container in a location that wasn't the most obvious. Nice terrain rating to have grabbed for this one, thanks Rhyan Clan and wmf138 for placing/maintaining.

I headed down to the south-east with gridge98 on a quick, two-day trip to find a few caches.
We had some rather mixed weather, with sunshine, rain, hail and wind at different stages, but most of the time it was good weather for caching.
We also had rather mixed results in terms of caches. There were some interesting hides in some terrific places; some along the beaches, some in the pine forests and others at various scenic or interesting locations. We managed a few lucky FTFs, but also a few disappointing DNFs. But all in all, it was a great trip.
A quick find.

Found It!
That'd have to be one of the easiest T5 caches I've ever done. I drove to with 30m of GZ and didn't even need to engage the 4WD! And after a bit of wandering around we found the cache. Interesting spot!

found on the way home from Portland, slowly making my way home. Only having a 2wd I had to stop at the side of the road and walk the near 300 metres to the cache. Found after the gps settled. the previous finder has replaced the old cache with a new one ( pic displayed) as the old one was broken and soaked/moldy log book. I found 2 caches at gz. I removed the old one as it is just geo rubbish. Needs Maintenance log can now be removed.
Portland to Mount Gambier
Today we were caching with Alansee & Liz and Bruce.
After setting up camp, we headed out to do some of the local caches, we visited many interesting locations & found some intersting hides.
A good drive to test out our Pajero Sport. Replaced with a new container & Log book.
Thanks for placing this cache wmf138

Having arrived in Mt Gambier it was time to get out and do some caching. It was many caches ago that we were here last so plenty of new ones to find. This is a great location with the differing geological features and we enjoyed the varied hides. Nice to be in the company of Alansee and Di Morgan again. Thanks to wmf138 for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area. Great to be doing one of your caches. We replaced the containr and log book. Fav point alloc.
Easy walk from the 2WD accessible road. Easy find in this quiet areas of the pines. Cache has seen better days though, with a broken lid and about 20mm of free surface in the container. Unable to sign log due to its wet condition. TFTH
Found at 1258. Found while on a week long stop over in Mount Gambier. Don't normally tackle terrain 5 caches but I was 50 Meters away before I realised what I was doing. Was able to scramble to the GZ. A quick find the cache lid was cracked from the sun and the contents spoilt. The log was damp and cover in mould but signable. TFTC.
My 2 1/2 year old grand daughter was keen to go caching with Nana so headed out to collect a few (her mum & sister came along for the ride)...
We took the track around the outside of the quarry so did not enter the no go zone and approached from the top...walked down the sandy track & into the bush...found the container in poor condition...it is brittle and the lid has a big hole in it...the inside is slightly wet...did not have a replacement with me...I placed the container back upside down to hopefully keep some weather out of it & covered with some bark...some TLC is in order for this cache...
Thanks wmf138

Travelling on holiday with Purrfect Di, son Alex, geoson Sebastbat and Jack the monkey.
The cache area, although tempting in 4wd, is now clearly signposted as a no go zone.
Thanks for the challenge wmf138
will place on the watch list and return if this changes!

Cool spot. The container is sadly cracked and the contents are ruined. Will need to be replaced. Took and left nothing.
Water got in through the hole in the lid. Log book still OKish but dump everything else ruined.
Found it while walking geodogs. I will bring my 4wd here as soon as I have one TFTC
Suscoe's 19th find of the day.
A bit of fun sorting this cache out.
Thanks to wmf138 for this hide.

No 4wd required to locate this cache but can see that it would have been fun to do so.

Having arrived in Mt Gambier late yesterday, today was our chance to get in a full days caching. We started early, but the mercury was already in the mid twenties before morning tea !! We had a blast driving through this area and the close surrounds. We hardly spotted any cars at all. We had a few breaks during the day, occasionally popping back to the hotel room for a cool down and to check the grand final scores. It was always a relief to spot those smiley faces in the 31 Days series !! Kudos to all of the CO's, you kept us very happy and very busy !! Glad we own a 4wd, just like it's sister cache, we had a ball getting to this one. Sorry for the very late log, but while studying the map, we realised we forgot to log it !! TFTC wmf138
With a full days caching ahead of us were were keen to get out and about early. We were able to enjoy the day even though it was quite hot. It was DAB who alerted me to a few caches we had forgotten to log from our trip. Great fun and glad to be out and about in the 4WD in this location.

Another great weekend with my geofamily, plenty of miles and smiles with a few geocaches thrown found along the way.
With geodad driving nothing is impassible until geomum says 'no'. Geodad wasn't allowed to drive down this hill.
Thanks for the cache The Rhyan Clan.

Cheated a bit here and drove alongside the pines and walked the last 50 metres. Placed a new logbook and plastic bag in cache but some water has got inside via the cracked lid. Another souvenir ticked off. TFTC

Cache found on the Joy of SECS tour with four-fun, Freddo, thewhitedoggang and Team Waldron. There were a stack of boxes to find so we pushed on. We even had a quick round of Mountopoly and a couple of Powertrails to add to the fun. The weather was cool and sometimes icy so wet boots were the order of the day.
Thanks to wmf138 and clear skies from TeamAstro.

Ok after a few laps of fun I decided I should get this cache and it wouldn't be a good idea to stop on the sand hill... My winch ant that long! Great place, great cache and so glad I wore long pants today! Not scratched legs for me! I left a pen for future cachers. Thanks
Have to admit we drove up the top and then walked down! No 4WDing for us today. Thanks for the cache.
Out for a drive with Cruiser95 to change a Log sheet, decided to do a few caches. This was first. awesome sand track TFTC Took Harley left Red truck.
"What an odd place for a cache", I thought as I steered the geomobile into what looked like a quarry of sorts [:o]
I drove up the hill and parked.
Not a bad view of the forestry croplands from up here
Green, green, brown dusty patch, green, green ... as far as the eye could see
The cache was still a few metres from where I parked and I enjoyed an easy stroll to find the cache safe and sound [^]

Sunday at BLE and Huurtle, Dennisc52 and I set off to replace a cache which had been lost in the recent bushfires
There were a few caches on the way and, luckily for me, the boys were happy to head for Dartmoor where a couple of months ago in 40 odd degree heat while riding my motorbike back from Halls Gap I had stopped briefly, seen the nearby caches and just been too darn hot and tired to get any...... so today was the day [^]
Later on, we met up with Honeysucker and firesafe and continued caching until well after dark: 4WDing on dirt roads, beaches and through the forests [^]
A HUGE day of attempting 47 caches: 45 successful locus cache events [^] and only 2 DNFs
LOL! LOL! LOL! I just read the log from Dennisc52 and am still laughing 'A fun drive to the cache with a driver who likes to go fast, and a back seat passenger egging him on. Sorry about the grip marks on your door handle.' LOL! LOL! LOL!
We weren't that fast from what I can remember...... I mean, Huurtle was driving and not me!
Seriously, I had so much fun today enjoying the drives around here (thanks Huurtle) and this was one of the best ones [^] Now if only I had a dirt bike tucked away in the 4WD I could have had even more impassable fun
