Day 3 of our Goldenbay Getaway & today we are off to explore the Aorere Goldfields, hike to Druggans Dam & the Cathedral Cave & finish up in Collingwood. We did have Wharariki on the agenda for today but we just ran out of time. Another fabulous day in paradise TFTC

(# 8121) Day 1 of a caching trip to the Nelson/Golden Bay area for a repeat trip for the four amigos. Tripping with NZ_B, TwigNZ and YetiNZ. A day full of hilarity with nobody being spared being the butt of the jokes. Signed the log with NMTY.

Thanks bumandworker for bringing me here.

08-Sep-23
A quick find after completing the virtual.

Day 1 of “The Wellingtonians are back” tour with TwigNZ, YetiNZ, Mr-Mcgoo. After the last trip, with more caches for us to find, we decided we had to return. And, of course, there will be days of laughter, usually at my expense .

During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.

Kia ora rawa atu for the cache bumandworker.

07-Sep-23
Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. We had such a good time that just a few months later we decided to do it again. The same team to the same location, with the same agenda. The only real goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding more of the unfound geocaches in the area.

Day one of this trip took us all the way out to Cape Farewell and then back to Tākaka. We stopped at many caches along the way, and this was one of them.

Most of our find here we signed the log with the collective name of N.M.T.Y to represent the four of us: NZ_B, Mr-Mcgoo, TwigNZ, and YetiNZ.

Thanks to bumandworker for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

Day 7 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)

Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.

After my huge drive of yesterday, I had planned today to be a bit more leisurely. I was delighted to be at Farewell Spit as it's a place I have long wanted to visit, so I had spent the previous night here in my campervan parked (not on the DOC reserve) on the side of the road as close to the beach as was allowed to make an early start on my caching for the day.

A quick and easy find here today, but on opening the cache I discovered that the contents were absolutely soaking wet! I was just about able to leave my mark, but this cache could really use some maintenance!

Thanks for placing this cache.

From our holiday in New Zealand after å friends wedding at Anatoki Salmon farms.
As the Cyclone Gita destrøyed our plans to do the Heaphey trail we needed to find another plave to explore. We choose to drive to the sand spit and haven't regret it. What a fantastic place`!

We took a walk to the fantastic Arches beach, saw the seals playing and found some caches Smile Interesting parking spot beside the way.

The team ( The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara and I)are Collingwood and Milnthorpe Park on our radar for today.
Trying to find the entrance and go too far, so here is space to turn safely. And with the added extra to snag this one. Lots of interesting info boards here to read.

25-Nov-17
Figuring that the only way to cache Golden Bay in a decent time frame was to first convert the green sea of Milnthorpe park into yellow smileys, Taybeedragon and I came over the hill, and overshot. This was the nearest place to turn around, so pulled over to grab the cache while we were here. Found the cache without the gps while reading the info boards.

Over to the Bay for Christmas and while the folks relaxed at the bach I headed out for a little cache therapy.

Milnthorpe was my primary target (Collingwood too busy) but here was a good place to start. A quick look at the panels - worth a stop - and then down to finding the right corner.

Hurrying, I made things a little too hard on myself, but then stopped to think about things and then looked in the most obvious place.

Thanks

First grab for the day on the way back to takaka

03-Dec-16
This weekend us capperz are over the hill to Golden Bay and celebrating. It's our wedding anniversary on Friday followed by my 50th birthday on the Saturday. So we looked around for a decent place to go for the weekend and the potential of this beautiful area won out (this time). Only grabbed the one cache on the Friday night (there was much drizzly rain and poor visibility) trip over the hill(s) so there was much anticipation for what was next. Both the Saturday of my half-century milestone and the Sunday were bathed in golden sunshine and the temperature was perfect; neither too hot nor too cold.
Some interesting notice boards here telling of days of old, and gold, mrs capperz read them whilst I found the cache

We spent 4 incredibly wonderful weeks in New Zealand for vacation and
had a lot of fun to discover all the marvels of this country.
Day 20 - on a cloudy and windy day we went to the Pupu Springs, a group of large and crystal clear springs, sacred to the Maori people before going to Farewell Spit.
At this narrow sand spit we had a pleasant walk over hills to the beach - miles of sand as far the eye can see!
We finished off with a coffee and a delicious muffin at the café.
Besides we still found time for geocaching and picked up quite a few caches on our way.
This was one of them!

TFTC,

11-Mar-16
From 19th February to 20th March Stadibast and I visited New Zealand. Half of the time we made a trip around the North-Island. After a short stay in Auckland we went to: Bay of Islands, Cape Reinga, Rotorua and the Wai-o-Tapu-Thermal Wonderland, the great Taupo-lake… We made a Rafting Tour in the Waitomo-Glowworm-caves or hiked the Tongariro–Alpine-Crossing and, and…
In the second part of our holidays we visited the south island, hiked in the Abel-Tasman-Reserve , went to the Marlborough-Sounds, the Golden Bay, the Oparara-Arch, the Franz-Josef- and Fox-Glaciers, had a great sight on Mt. Cook and Mt. Tasman, relaxed at the Wanaka- and Hawea-Lakes,….
New Zealand is a very amazing country and with exceptional natural sites. We are very impressed of these great nature monuments and sights and we are happy that we met so much friendly and helpful people.
On the way back form Farewell-Spit we passed this place. Easy find.
Greetings from Germany.

NZDi and I have been planning a long weekend in Golden Bay for a month or so and today these plans came into fruition. Of course a long weekend out of town would not be complete without the odd cache thrown in and so a few caches were planned along the way. The weather back in Blenheim had been crap all week and the forecast for the weekend was not that flash either, however as soon as we got across the Whangamoa's we could see this part of the country was bathed in sunshine.

This is day two of our Golden Bay geocaching weekend, and todays efforts are concentrated on the caches around Wharariki, Cape Farewell and Farewell Spit. After getting Wharariki Walk we looked for other nearby caches that I had seen when planning this trip. It looks like I didn't set my radius far enough when creating my pocket query and the search missed four caches at Wharariki, Cape Farewell and Pillar Point (although I didn't know this until I got back into cell phone reception). We decided to head back to Puponga where we last had reception so we could save the missing caches on my mobile app.

After getting the four missing caches, it was time to head back to our accommodation at Tata Beach. On the trip back we picked up a few QEF PnGs, this was the third.

Cache in good condition.
