Parked on Martells Rd ( a dirt road, but fine in my Commodore). I wanted to check out the kayak caches too, so took the google marked trail closest to the river. No one has driven through here for a long time, and lantana will likely soon close the trail - a couple places it had just bridged across it.

Anyway, got to GZ, searched and searched. Check the photo. Hmmm. Turns out I was all but standing on it, it was just a little buried Smile

We had decide that a trip to Nambucca Heads was called for.The tinny needed some fixing to attempt a few river caches. It was then just a matter of when we could go. The Snakepitters were heading back north again so we chose a midweek trip to go there. We settled into a cabin at the White Albatross as there are lots of caches along the break wall here.
It took 45minutes from launch & return. The boat skippered by Bill & Mr. Snakepitter with many of years of service in the navy was the 1st mate. At each cache a suitable spot was found to dock then locate the cache.
A number of FP were given out. It was a wonderful morning out on the river that we had not been on before.
Agreat couple of days & as we headed home today the rain started to fall. A perfect ending for our time away.
Thankyou for placing this cache Richo123

Its a beautiful day for a paddle and I'd already decided on my launching site when I remembered this cache. Bonus ! it's right near by. While a bit buried by leaf litter, as you would expect, the cache was quickly found. Log a little damp but still able to be written on. Now to head up Pickering Creek for a couple of hours or until I get to the end which ever comes first . Tftc

We came in on South Arm Road to look for the two caches here with the idea of kayaking to this one. We hadn't been on this road before and was hoping there was a good big place for big rigs to turn around if the road petered out. What luck! as we got close to the cache we found a large parking spot plus a place to launch the kayak, well marked by a can of council yellow paint. Not that we were going to miss it, we could see GZ across the river. We'd hardly even got paddling before we were pulling into the other side. The mozzies had been ferocious from the time we parked till we reloaded the kayak so we didn't hang about. Apart from that, a lovely spot that we wouldn't have otherwise visited and a well camo'd cache for safety in what appears to be a surprisingly well used place. TFTC Richo123.

We had just found a FTF in the Urunga township and thought we would tick this one off the list too. We parked the car about 1km from GZ and did the rest by foot. A very quick find was had at GZ and now turning around for the return trip. We have certainly worked up a thirst for a cold one upon returning home, but one would be super nice to get me back to the car on this warm and sunny day. TNLN SL TFTC

Top spot.
We camped down river a bit from here, got this one out of our tinny. Plenty of mud crabs about.
No sign of the travel bug.

With the weather on our side, we decided to take the kayak out for a little paddle on our last day staying in the area.

What a lovely spot here indeed.

Thanks for bringing us here Richo123 Big Grin

Joint 511 days Unloved find with cantcacheus2014. Of a mission set some weeks back to hit this one 500kms south of home in coffs from brisbane and a time of 2am leaving brisbane we set off, caching the park and grabs all the way down to coffs and a plan to pick up a kayak from a brother in law we made the extra 30kms south west drive to this one. It started to rain as we took the kayak off the roof and coming this far that wasn't going to stop us from this score of 511 days unfound unloved hide, hoping the floods hadn't taken this one with it we still needed to make to distance of 120m of river and rain to make a find.
Low tide wasn't the best time to start off as the mud was thin and about 15m of 1-2-3inch water i needed to trek through it all just to get to the deeper water, the bank on the other side was head high sloppy and undermined so this made it hard to pull myself up and quickly getting over that i set off to find the hint. the cache was located in good condition other than the outer bag but the little container did its job an left all log and swaps dry.
log signed and placed back as found tftc the (2 of us) Wink had fun

Took a road trip with Forbiddenground, travelling from Brissy with 2 specific goals. An Unloved cache past Coffs Harbour and the Hwy park & grabs on the way. Well this one was the unloved cache, a joint find with Forbiddenground which required teamwork this time. I think forbiddenground describes the trip well so I wont just repeat it all, but I will say we had a great time and look forward to future adventures. Tftc

Awesome spot almost got eaten alive by mozzies. Doesn't look like anyone has used this trail for a long time

I love these more remote caches, even though it was a drive up in the Jeep.
Cache container was damp inside and log tiny bit damp but certainly writable, dried off content and popped my name down after the Skink. Glad I noticed the "Hoppy Joe" ants before I got stung again.
Thanks for a great hunt Richo
Fav from me for beautiful location and fun drive

Out for a bit of a drive today heading out & about to some lesser known areas...Cool

This was one of the caches on my radar so was happy to be able to turn it into a 'smilie'...Smile

Was able to get within 300 metres in the 4x4... Enjoyed the walk & the views... Another of those spot's that I would never have discovered if it wasn't for caching.... Thanks Richo123 for bringing me here...Cool

Found on 01/10/12. I parked the car just off the highway and mountain biked in. The road and track were dry and in good condition, but the fire trail would be difficult after rain. Great spot by the river, but a pity about the garbage left by previous campers. The gps was erratic under the trees but the clue made for an easy find. The terrain and remoteness of this cache makes for a satisfying find. No sign of the TB. TFTC.

Mountain biked in from the Pacific Highway. Went down the wrong track at first but figured it out, backtracked and found the correct one. What a lovely quiet spot. No problem with boggy areas today, quite easy on a MTB. TFTC

0035 GAFF3 Had to walk 1km each way, as I was too chicken to bring the Metro down too close.
But, I did have problems getting back out again. The GPSr wanted me to go various different ways out again to the next cache, but in the dark it was getting hard to discern the correct path for a 2wd car to go. And then a fuse went, and I lost the airconditioning unit, and couldn't see anyway.
Slept overnight in the car, found the right fuse in the morning, gunned it, and got the last 1km out to the highway! Just another adventure.
No sign of the coin or TB in the cache.
Thru: own coins, TB and shirt

Found with Skypirate~ and MrDamage. GeoDad got the boat working and we went up the river to try and find this cache. We landed the boat and then went onto the lank almost straightaway Geodad say the GPS shows around here. So looking around the cache was soon spotted, wrapped in a plastic bag.

Located 2:40 PM with AuroraEve and SkyPirate~. TFTC Used the hint. We came by boat and left by boat. Contents a small bag of coins, small rabbit, some rocks, shells sharpener, little horse, marble. We grabbed a couple of small foreign coins and left a 1c Aussie coin and a small water pistol (new).

The 4 of us found this one at 16:150 on a Brilliant afternoon on the river with great Geofreinds Browngang. We were in the area for a camping weekend with Friends from Lake Cathie Rural Fire Brigade. While waiting for the rest to arrive we launched the tinnie and headed up river for a afternoon caching The girls came prepared with a bottle of champagne and we stayed hydrated with a couple of beers. This was a fun way of turning a cache with a low Difficulty ratting into a more challenging one, but if you choose to do this i would suggest high tide rather than a low tide. The mossies were particularly savage at this site so remember the Aeroguard. Big Grin

Better luck on the second attempt but still initially had trouble spotting the forestry trail in behind the logged area. Left the geofamily parked in the shade and set off on the MTB down the track. There were a few wet clayey sections even after 4 or 5 days of sunshine and the grass was up to my waist in places which played havoc with the bike chain. Glad I was well elevated as it was ideal joe blake weather. The cache was easily found (in good condition) and there was time for a few photos before a swarm of mozzies descended upon me. Thanks Richo123 - it's a great spot but I'll need the aeroguard next time.

Unfortunately a DNF for this one as I took off down the wrong side road on the mountain bike and ran out of daylight before I could carry on further (plus there was also a cold beer waiting back at the Oceanview). Have done my homework now and looking forward to getting to GZ on the next trip north.

We so enjoyed our drive out to this cache today. Beautiful countryside and lovely river. A lovely place for a cache. We are not experienced 4WDrivers so are impressed a Subaru made it to GZ as per a previous log. We were able to drive right up to GZ and spotted the cache's home straight away. What a great spot. Thanks for this cache.
Took: Pooh and figurine
Left: Duck, foreign coins and geocaching pin and dipped Orca TB

Found at 2.20pm GAFF1. Love these sort of caches where we aren't sure what to expect along the track - will the vehicle be able to make it? Will there be some huge obstacle? Will we have to walk 1 km in?
It all turned out to be quite tame as our Suzuki was able to negotiate the track with ease and park within a few metres of GZ. Loved the quite little spot next to the river and after a short search we were able to find the cache 13 metres from GZ.
Thanks Richo123

I didn't have access to my 4WD today but this cache was calling and I had to respond. Smile

I drove to within one kilometre of GZ where there is a convenient place to leave your car. I wouldn't try the track without a 4WD.

The track is slightly undulating, but it is easy to follow and makes for a pleasant walk that leads you to a spot with a nice view of the Kalang River. It's obvious a few people have camped here and it would definitely be a good spot to spend a night or two.

The cache was quickly located and signed. I found it based on the description rather than the co-ordinates as I had GZ 16m away. Although this was probably my GPSr as the cloud and tree cover was causing the signal to oscillate all over the place.

When I was admiring the river the rain started. Why I decided to leave my wet weather gear in the car is beyond me. Soaked to the skin. Twisted

An excellent cache.

T4TC.
