A short search of the area looking for the geocache. The hint made sense. Collected this for a position on my DT grid On a caching holiday from Mackay. In the search of old caches and ones to fill DT grid spaces. Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment with mackay_geocaching. Have mostly had clear sunny days on our trip.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Out on the caching trail again with alphag_25. Going for some caches today to fill a grid. TFTC
Cannot believe I started at the most obvious spot, moved around the tree, and Then found it. But cute swaps, even a pathtag! I didn’t take it. Tftc!
It’s Pan Pacific Masters Games (PPMG) time so caching definitely a must … so I came; searched; found; signed log; returned cache to its home; and left in search of my next adventure, whatever that turns out to be.

Lets have another go at this one. A proper hunt this time - still took some trial and error - revealed a good sized cache. Happy to turn a blue face yellow.
For today's 22/2/22 2's Day milestone, I elected to attend the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens Community Celebration event. Arriving at work super early, I was able to depart earlier in the afternoon and make the 1.5 hr drive along the Pacific Highway through congestion. However, the worries from the long commute were offset by a great event in a beautiful landscape. It was also a nice opportunity to complete the *Gold Coast Botanical Gardens* Adventure Lab. Following the event, I continued to explore the vicinity around Benowa, Bundall and Ashmore, driving around the different canals. I had a final walk around the *Ashmore Amble* series, and then during my drive back to Brisbane, I stopped off at a couple of *Banyula Dr By* and oldie geocaches.
Following the community celebration event, I went for a drive around the nearby canals, making a stop at this park and cache. It was a long way to drive around to be met with a dead-end, so I certainly didn't want a DNF at this location! As I started to search, I was amused at what I found in the tree - that is a rather interesting sight indeed! The cache was then subsequently found, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Aussie Liahona for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Peppa and I are caching in the area today and then attending the 2's day event at the Botanical Gardens this afternoon.
One more cache before heading to the event, we stopped to admire this beautiful old tree and try and locate the cache here. We both circled the tree in different directions and I found the hide. Peppa retrieved the cache while we asked ourselves "how did that get there?". Many questions and possible reasons but still an interesting bit of history.
SL then returned as found. A fav point from me.

With an event later this afternoon at the Gold Coast Regional Botanical Gardens, Patrol14 and I have decided to celebrate 2’s Day on the Goldie…
Our last find before getting to the Gardens… like many before us, remarked on the size and stature of the tree… it’s a beauty… dreaded the hunt, but in doing a circuit found the item that the CO’s would have us ask “why?”

What at a lovely tree. I wasn’t looking forward to the challenge when I saw the tree. But the hint was extremely helpful.
Log signed after I had to remove the big spider protecting the top.

This was a great find Sammie walked around finally found it but wouldn’t reach in and grab it so I get a strong man to do it
Found this 10 year plus hiding in the park. Checked on his welfare all is good with this one. Thanks for this one
A cool place to visit! Thank you for taking us here. Logging with DeafCat and Deafphantom
TFTC. This tree is incredible. It's amazing what nature can do. Thanks for taking me to it. Picked up a trackable.
easy find here, cool bit of machinery here, odd that it was just left there Like that. Thanks
Out nice and early to beat the heat and hunt for a few caches. My lack of patience for hunting probably bested me at this one.
Cringed when I saw the fig tree. But this was a nice find and very interesting.
Found the cache as previously logged, container needs some attention. This is a beautiful old fig in a great park overlooking the canals. TFTC
Tftc. After reading the hint, I found my way to GZ. Unfortunately just the bare logbook was found amongst the dead leaves. I found some old plastic ball or something and put the logbook in it so next cacher doesn’t need to search log slip amongst the leaves.
No pen/pencil within the container so I couldn't leave my name, but a nice find nonetheless
After having a climb hopeing no one from the surrounding house were watching me. I found nothing . Circled it a few mor times before coming up with the goods . Tftc
Been meaning to do this for a long time. Tried once before but there was a kids birthday nearby and they were swarming over GZ like ants so abandoned attempt. Found nice clean log and swaps intact so all good so far. No one around and made sure camo was good. TFTC Aussie Liahona
Sorry to RDIP who went looking and couldn't find this one.
I went and checked on it today and couldn't find it either, so it's been muggled.
I went prepared and replaced the cache in the same location and hope it has a good chance of surviving. If it goes again the position will have to change.
Happy caching!

Liahona dnf day for me. Many places, many leaves. I used a stick - I took put some glass but there may still be some.
Day out caching with Kryan 101 looking forward to a great day we should both reach milestones 2100 and 100. TFTC.
With a rising sun in my face it wasnt keen 2 let itself b known . . .but got thereTFTC
We definitely want to come back to this place in the daylight as this tree is magnificent!! Were startled by the little piece of history too; so cool! Will need to return to photograph it for an Instagram page I follow - trees eating things .
We were actually lured to this cache by the promise of a geocoin that had been left by the last finder, back in July ‘17. Unfortunately, we believe the neighbourhood muggles are completely aware of its whereabouts as the cache was found and intact, but the geocoin was missing and the logbook scrawled with their profanity and scribbles. We would probably suggest avoiding adding any “valuable” swag to this cache...We swapped out the lizard for a smurf

Now THIS is what a geocache should be. Showcased something really fascinating probably locals don't know about. Thank you. Left a couple of path tags.
Great day for a bit of seaside, salt air & sunshine in keeping with the current pirate theme! LOL ...
Yo ho ho & a bottle of rum ...
Having been muggled out on 4 coastal caches in a row we decided to head inland & try our luck.
Wow!
This tree is amazing!
So huge that I thought Geo-Mamma had been swallowed up by it.
I wandered in to find G-M & said 'Did you try there?'
BINGO!
LOL ...
Quick find.

I thought this road continued around the circuit and I was surprised when I came to the end of the road.
I strolled over to check out the area and groaned when I saw all the lovely hiding spots.
However, I did a circuit and soon spotted a spot which looked more likely that the others and soon had the cache located. That must have been there for a long time now.

In the area for a work conference. Had some time to spare so spent a bit of time finding a few caches with work colleague and cacher, PastaMaker. As Mr PM originally comes from North of the Border, this cache was of special interest to him. He bravely retrieved it after a short search. That's an interesting artifact at GZ too. Beware of sharp things in the environment though. TFTC, Biggles.
Thanks for the cache! What a gorgeous tree I've just discovered. So glad I thought I'd take the opportunity now that I'm walking again to chase a few smilies before retiring to full time work, after tearing my Achilles I have a few smilies to catch up on. Thanks again
With thanks to RoddyC this cache doesn't need maintenance any more. It's so nice to know there are geocachers out there with respect for the hobby and who are able and willing to help. We try to do the same.
Happy caching everyone!
Happy caching everyone!
I found myself again on the Gold Coast with naught but a car and about an hour to kill. Cue whipping the phone out and hunting for a pen! We're going geocaching. This time in Bundall I quickly spotted a few Aussie Liahona hides nearby and set off. Having grabbed a few and picked up a passenger, I wasn't to be put off so we're both going to this one!
Without looking at roads too much I managed to get here - didn't even realise it was a dead end both ways, but it worked out for me. I love when massive trees like this are left when an estate is built. Evidently this patch of higher ground existed before the canals were put in. The big tree reminded me of a wherigo I did in Perth - for anyone who cares
Having set eyes on the enormity of said tree I wasn't filled with hope knowing I was now hunting a small container. A quick lap usually highlights the more likely spots and of course, this one is pretty obvious. Alas, a reminder of a long gone by era, worthy of a geocache to point out the quirkiness of it. I poked about and made a quick find. All in good condition, logbook signed and time to head home from here. Thanks for this geocache, Aussie Liahona

Today we decided to tackle some caches we had heard about around the Ashmore-Benowa area, so I selected around 30 caches and suggested to Team Benders and her Geo Partner that we join forces for the day and escape the city heat and head for the coast.
Wow! Two roads that never meet! Bet that makes for great traffic control. AND it gives a terrific place for a cache hide. What a fascinating GZ! Peculiarly unusual, to say the least.
Unfortunately, we found only a log book and pencil out in the open - no cache container. So i trundled back to the GeoFalcon to our cache supplies and found just the right container to suit. Just hope we put it back in its original hiding spot, and that the Muggle watering his lawn nearby either knew what we were doing or just wasn't interested.
Log signed & replaced again. Found at 4.10pm on 4th March 2017. TFTC, Aussie Liahona.

Out with RoddyC to find a few caches in the Gold Coast.
Found the log and the pencil and signed the log.
A container has been added by RoddyC as missing.
Returned to where we found it.

The cache has been smuggled by youth with nothing else better to do. The cache container is missing, and the logbook & pencil are just lying on the ground. The logbook has had some rather inappropriate comments added by the muggles.
I was in the area looking for some quick park & grabs to boost my find numbers. Cache container was missing but the logbook & pencil were lying where they should be
Well thats certainly an interesting object at GZ! You don't come across one of those every day (whatever it is!). Nice and quiet here apart from the odd dog walker. Dropped off Jonas' Teat TB and picked up the cool lego Pirate TB!
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Myself and Willyduck were on our way home from a day out and were keen to grab a find. I had my eye on this one for a while, and was in awe of the beautiful tree that appeared in front of us when we arrived at the GZ. A quick search around and i soon uncovered the container. I retrieved the geocoin and left TB Megans Heart to recommence it's travels - safe journey! Sl TFTC
Todays we headed south from where we are staing. We found many different caches in a variety of locations.
My goodness me that must have been here for a very long time. A great location .Left a TB
Favourite point given
Thanks for placing this cache Aussie Liahona
I must admit I was surprised to read your cache description then actually do a site visit. You see yesterday I found an estate map for Cypress Gardens just across the Nerang River from where this cache is located. Actually it was more than just a map it was a whole brochure extolling the virtues of "Paradise City" - Bruce Small's canal development of which, in 1970, Cypress Garden's was the latest release. Anyway to cut a long story short, because of how low the Carrara and Benowa flood plans were a *lot* of sand would have been pumped up to create the estates either side of the river. I did not expect to see a tree which so obviously predates the canal developments. She's a lovely specimen.
As for the implement, I suspect as no doubt you do, it's agricultural. Had it been perhaps a part from a dredge - an auger maybe, I would not have been entirely surprised - perhaps something that has been thrown up onto the bank then forgotten about as the land settled. Benowa was largely planted with sugar in the first two decades of the 20th century, then when the Benowa sugar mill closed in 1919 many of the land holders turned to dairying. Our assumption would be it was used in sewing better grasses for the cattle. Its interesting that the early advertisements for dairy based blocks at Merrimac, the fact that the land had been sewn with paspalum was a strong selling point - something that we would regard as a nasty weed in our own yards.
Now I am really getting off the point, but to get back to it - thank you for highlighting this and thanks for the cache.

Had me scratching around this awesome tree for a short while but eventually found after reading the beaut hint. Thanks Aussie Liahona and TFTC.
Lovely spot that could that as you say, could benefit from a BBQ. Gorgeous gorgeous tree that would have a lot of stories to tell if it could only talk. Lovely to meet the CO last week at Leap Day event with my geo-son. TFC
Was here with my GF when we were dropping some invitations to an art exhibition. We were not premium members then so we didn't know there was a cache here.
Nice container.
Nice container.
Wouldn't you love to know the history of how this furrow came to be left there for so long the tree has decided to hug it. Was it farm area that the farmer left it leaning next to a little fig and thought he would get back to it, I hope that was the reason and wouldn't the farmer be surprised if he could see it now. I needed an O cache and I got one that I loved. Cute little park as well. TFTC
Replaced this cache today as it had gone missing AGAIN. Please take the care to re-hide your cache finds carefully as though it was your own you were protecting from muggles. Many thanks!
Happy caching...........
Happy caching...........
Will head there tomorrow to replace this one. We've been away overseas for two months and had family visiting from overseas in the last 3 weeks. Time has been of a premium!
Sorry for the delay!

Im guessing this is still there as I know how well looked after your caches are attempting today we hope
Disabling this one for now as it appears to be missing. Sorry folks!
Happy caching........

Thanks CO for disabling sorry I couldnt find it today. Amazing tree and awesome little piece of machinery been trapped in this old old tree. So many holes and spots it would be crazy for caches if wasnt a 170mtr rule.
The massive drill holes make out as if this tree maybe was once a tree house and the concrete on top another indication.
Thanks co for quick repsonse

couldn't find it after the whole day of trying to find a cache my friend told me this one was easy so we tried and couldn't find anything. has it moved?
Up from Canberra and found with Rapidlywild on a two week geomission around the Gold Coast and, of course, for the MEGA
The Mega had come to a close and the fun had finished so we were back on the Gold Coast. Our energy was low so we decided we'd have a cruisy day of caching around the area.
Nice, easy find for us here
Thanks for the hide, Aussie Liahona

Back on the Gold Coast today to continue caching. The holiday is starting to wind down in preperation for the long drive back to Canberra. 2nd last day on the Gold Coast so it was out and back caching. Today was a good day with about 40 finds today.
Today we found alot of caches from Nottinghamers who I must admit have some very creative hides We had a wonderful day out and about collecting caches and placing our stamp in the log books.
Another lovely park in a lovely area. Nice easy find here
Thanks Aussie Liahona for placing this cache for us to make a find on

Introduced my friend to geocaching. We stand up paddle boarded. Found it pretty easy.
Stopped by to check on this cache today. It is indeed missing. I'm hoping that some local kids haven't discovered it and taken it.
We replaced the cache and it's good to go. Happy caching..............

After seeing the clue I knew I was in the right spot but I've had to walk away with dirt under my nails after I savaged the area thoroughly but to no avail no smiley today!
The point of geocache is for it to be hidden. Disappointed to find the contents strewn container seperated. Rehid contents. Please put things back how you found it!!
Day two of my Gold Coast caching weekend with Bristracker and we started by getting some of the closer to home caches. That is something you don’t see in a tree every day. Very cool place and good cache. TFTC
