Think it is time for this one to go as too many people are searching and not finding, and the one find logged said it is no longer anywhere near gz.

06-Mar-16
No there.

17-Feb-16
I'd say this cache is probably in Albany harbour by now, we received some significant rain/ flooding in this area recently.

28-Nov-15
Could not locate this one. Thoroughly searched around GZ with no luck, unsure if previous found cacher had found cache near GZ or else where so widened our search down stream also with no luck. Unsure if it's actually still there.

08-Nov-15
Found it but looks like it has washed down the creek a bit.

23-Aug-15
Now this DNF wasn't for lack of trying, however the whole area looks like it has recently been flooded and a creek ran between us and GZ, not a big one but enough for us to not want to make a daring leap across lest we plunge into mud the other side. We also made enough noise and vibrations to scare off any tiger snakes. Perhaps the cache owner can check it is still there please?

23-Aug-15
Should have checked the past logs but we were going past so had a look and quickly realised that there had been flooding through the area and we couldn't quite get to cache without waders. Un less it's up a tree it is probably soaked or washed away. We tried.

12-Apr-15
Down in the Great Southern area for another caching foray. Our intentions had been to head over to Esperance and Cape Le Grande, but stars just weren't properly aligned, and the weather was looking pretty dismal too, so shelved that plan for the time being. Oh well, still lots of great caching to be done without venturing quite so far from home base. Headed northwards today, with Katanning on the radar, along with others along the way, including this one. Unfortunately, it looks like the rains may have caused flooding of the area around gz, and despite giving it our best efforts, we weren't able to find the cache. Wonder if it is still there?? Maybe another time. Thanks anyway...

13-Jan-15
I was driving straight past this cache today so couldn't resist a quick look, gps took me straight to gz and after a little look had it in my hands TFTC Smile

09-Dec-14
A well hidden cache but unfortunately the log book is unusable because it's so wet. Left some paper in there but don't know how long it will last. TFTC

30-Aug-14
Were not too optimistic about finding this one, however, it was a very quick find right on GZ for us today. The cache itself is suffering a lot from being waterlogged. The log book is quite wet and not in a plastic bag. We poured out what we could, but unfortunately did not have a new log book with us to replace the old. Perhaps the next person along can place a new log in a plastic bag, which will go a long way to keeping the cache useable. TFTC

19-Jul-14
Not this time... To much greenery and water

01-Jun-14
The area is very overgrown and floods during winter rains, so it's possible that this cache is not where it's supposed to be.

Found it before my sister

21-Oct-13
See previous log for details. Cache was covered in mud and literally full of water, logbook and contents are soaking wet. Immediate area is quite over-grown with vegetation (also evident from numerous previous logs) and appears to have been under-water recently, so a slight re-location might be in order too?

21-Oct-13
We weren't too optimistic about finding this one, given the comments accompanying the previous DNF, and some of the earlier logs. But we decided to make the small detour needed to get here anyway, and give it a go, figuring that even another DNF might help the cache owner. We hunted for quite a while, and the vegetation certainly does make one a little nervous about slithering creatures (fortunately it was a good day). We were just at the point of giving up when Lady Canuck found the cache, albeit somewhat submerged in the mud and thoroughly covered in vegetation. So we're happy to chalk up another smiley, and report that the cache is still active. Coordinates for GZ were dead-on. However, the previous visitor is correct that it looks like the entire area has been submerged in water recently. The cache itself was completely full of water, and the log couldn't be signed. It should be a little easier for the next visitor to find, but everything is still soaked and the cache is in need of some maintenance. Maybe even a slight relocation is in order, to ensure some longevity. TFTC.

Had a hunt around for this one with Jnr Geo, but came up empty.

Noticed that the grass in the area is heavily grown over and there appear to have been significant water through the area.

With the previous last find of JUL/2013 - Perhaps a Owner check may be in order for this one.

Thanks for the drive anyway Sad !

We must have come just after the DNF as there were tracks everywhere. We did find it right where they were but had to forage pretty hard.. Great day with the Rowstonians.

Plenty of tracks around the place and we found this one quite well buried by the local plants Wink

13-Jul-13
No luck, not sure if the long grass was the problem, we'll be back.

14-Nov-12
Reasonably easy find, but kept one eye out for the snakes. Nice series of caches.

A quick find and noticed we were the second group to find this one today. We enjoyed the country side and afternoon drive out to this and other caches in the area. Thanks Albany Nomads.

Thanks for the cache.....Was in the area shifting GeoHippys house stuff, coonacing and olive gathering....."Stay safe"

After an overnight at the Stirling Range we made this one our first on the way further south to Albany. A really nice drive down some narrow country roads to the GZ, though the GPS struggled a bit with the heavy cloud cover once on foot. Made the find after a short search, signed the log, and continued towards the city. We're claiming this as our first official Albany cache! Thanks Albany Nomads.

Last one for the day, loved the soft green grass and the yellow flowers. Nice easy find.

19-Aug-12
Found this while moving my sister-in-law from Kendenup to Albany. Passed this spot many a time and thought this may be the last time for a long time that we are in the area. I am sorry to log it so late, actually i cant believe where the time has gone.

This cache wasn't originally one of my destinations on the road trip home but as we missed a turn in SRNP and ended up in Kendenup, it was decided to bowl this one over instead. Was intending on looking at Stirling View.

It is now the 3rd of May and I am planning my day for tomorrow and saw this cache. Hmmm. I am sure I have done that one and it isn't smiling at me. Checked back over the route home. Yep. Been there done that. So here is my log for the 15/0412. Better late than never. Quick find and on going through the log book I wasn't the first for the day.

Opted for the more direct route home after that via Mt Barker instead of hitting the 2 DRTH caches heading toward C-P Rd.

Thanks for another in the series

After noting the previous DNF we were not expecting to record a smiley for this one. After making our way through the longish grass to gz we found the cache right were the gps said it should be.

05-Oct-11
i hate logging DNFs, but we searched every likely spot and then extended search area to no avail. there is evidence that the river has been in flood with debris about a metre high in the trees in area of gc. i feel that it has been washed away, Smile

11-May-11
We haven't traveled all that far since crossing the river earlier today bit it's certainly a lot smaller here than what it was there. We parked the car and followed the GPSr to gz and located the cache in about the fourth place we looked. We signed the log and we were on our way again.
Thanks again Albany Nomads for the cache

WanderingAus wandered by, meandering towards home from Albany after the GC2KA92 WA Caching 10th Birthday Bash - Albany 2011 by tangowithcupcake, and made an extrtemely quick and easy GAFF 0 find.

My find No 3468, LCC, TNLNSL, dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC and my WanderingAus GeoMobile TB in for a visit before grabbing them back again.

bit of a look

15-Jan-11
Grass is long and will look again. Was a hot day and thought snakes were around

15-Nov-10
We almost gave up on this one because the grass was too long and we are very wary of snakes, but we took a big stick and soldiered on and got to the cache. SL TNLN TFTC

15-Nov-10
Sounds like the GRASS and Vegetation is getting very long around the cache site and what with summer here which also brings along SNAKE season it may be a good idea to put off finding this cache until the cooler moths say May 2011: from the cache owners Albany Nomads

A quick grab on the way home, we will have to follow the Kalgan on another visit. TFTH

29-Aug-10
Found previously as one of the “Rainbow Coasters”.

29-Aug-10
After a fantastic walk around Mt Martin on the previous day, the Coasters headed out along the Kalgan trail to follow to complete the series. The last for the day and one that took a few minutes to find. Could get wet underfoot after some rain and the river starts to send a head of water on its journey south to the ocean.

Highly recommended for a day out chasing the Kalgan and taking in some fantastic farmland views and different perspectives of the Porongurup and the Stirling Ranges.
Just happened to catch up with the “Nomads” late in the day, great to be able to say thanks for this very enjoyable KALGAN series.

18-Jul-10
The last in the series and another nice spot. The river here isn't a patch on where it empties into the harbour. Thanks Nomads for a wonderfull series.

11-Jul-10
Wondered if we'd get to this one before the black sky got to us, but we did. Still lots of water in river here.
A nice set of caches for an afternoon out. Thanks for showing us where the Kalgan comes from Nomads.

Easy find. Looks like it could be really wet in here at times!!! TN Left pencil SL. TFTC

26-Jun-10
We found this one with no GPS!!! Be careful as there was a pitful of dead sheep across the river. YUK. Very smelly! We found this one with our grandparents who are locals. They say that this area floods regularly so this cache may not stay put for long! Took small phonebook. Left silver earings.

20-Jun-10
What a great day. Fourth cache and as many FTF's. Thanks to the Albany Nomads for placing so many acceccible caches in very picturesque places. The drive from one to the other is a treat too. Each spot is worthy of a longer stay to take in the views and just unwind. We were suprised how salty the Kalgan is along its total length. Hope the revegitation and fencing makes a difference over time. Thank you for a most enjoyable day of caching. Couldn't think of a better. The FTF rewards covered our petrol costs for the day. THANKS a million. TFTH
