One of todays finds during our month long travels through the South and North Islands. I am on rations but am still managing around 10 finds a day.
Thanks to all the cache hiders. TFTC.
Dug a little deeper and there it was.

High tide has been through here once again by the looks. Maybe we didn't look hard enough but High tide driftwood convinced us it had succumb to the sea gods
Nice find while staying at Top 10 camp. Prize win courtesy of the Coast Radio station Bottoms Up tour
Checking after last weeks storm to find cache has disappeared, replaced a new one same place.
Tried to grab this yesterday with the others but approached from wrong place to be met with electric fences!! So tried again today from the beach with more luck though pinkpeardrops got a wet foot coming back.
Only cache for today, lovely evening walk along the beach. Got a wet foot coming back from cross the stream/sea TFTC
Found it hard to believe this cache was actually still in place and intact as there was a considerable amount of debris from the sea thrown up all around and over it! TFTC.
Was sure we were actually on a proper walkway, didn't make it onto the beach, as we didn't trust the fence that bites!

Found just before it was time to head back home after a weekend trip to the coast. TFTC.
Heading over to the Westcoast for a weekends family adventure. Stopped at a few caches along the way.
Staying overnight in Westport - Mrs G has some Family History chasing to do up at Denniston.
Came out for an early mornings family wander. Great beach. A quick find and sign. Cheers.

Found on a walk along the beach in the sunshine from our campground. Had no problem with the electric fence. Thanks very much weenz
Found once we had both been zapped by the electric fence - ha ha!
We are on holiday in NZ for three months and camping in as many places as possible! Therefore, when we spotted this cache we just knew we had to try and add it to our collection.
Many thanks for the cache.

A quick find on an early evening walk with geocaches! #10 of the day, TFTC and bzzz!
found this one on the walk back down the beach to the car from the Trinket Tree. Lots of people enjoying the beach this afternoon. TFTC #5360
After booking in at the nearby spot I wandered down for a quick look at the beach. Then wandered along for a look for this one. A quick find was made then onto the next.

#951 - Here are too much possibilitys to hide a cache. More - it isn't our lucky day for caching - to many DNF today... but we are trying pur luck by this cache. After ten minutes we made the radius bigger... I thought always on the clue.... no idea what it mean. Than a brainwave - a look... here is a lot of camo... could it be? Yes! Gotcha! TFTC.

Moved the cache as it was being gobbled up by the gorge and blackberry and near to impossible to get to.

It is lucky it is still there, digger had recently cleaned out the ditch next to it.
Thought I was going to have to bush-bash through the gorse to get to this one, so was glad when I didn't. TFTC.
It appears that this cache has been destroyed as there is a piece of sistema container left in the area and try as we might, and we did try, we could find nothing else.
Things got a bit prickly for the kids. Can't post my pic as it would be a huge spoiler. TFTC
I was staying at the nearby holiday park, so thought I'd go out this morning to find a few caches. This was my first and I was glad I wore long trousers. My hands were scratched several times by the thorny bushes and my fleece was also snagged along the way. However, the cache was quickly located just before it started to rain, which meant a rather wet walk to the next cache. TFTC.
Found it with no problem. 2 types of prickly stuff there to get scratched by.
After wandering along the beach, as we got close, we began to wonder where the cache would be, but headed through the prickly stuff, and it was quickly found. TFTC
It was good to grab this one after missing it our last time we were in Westport. Horrible prickly stuff with webs in it but we managed to find and sign the logbook which is damp. It could do with a good drying out. 5/41 caches found today. Thanks for the cache
Found with neo-2. Tried this one before but no trouble this time. Logbook a bit damp.

Ace7 returned to the van park but I went on after this one. Got a little scratched up so long pants would have been smarter but I got there in the end. Thanks for your cache weenz. It's a great spot out here at low tide. TFTC
Found at 7:13:00 a.m. on 22/01/2013.
A relatively quick find once I'd got the correct side.

Got totally drenched while doing this one. Thanks God we are staying in the camper ground close by. TFTC

The sand was incredibly soft so whipped off the jandals and bare footed to near GZ before putting my jandals back on. Must have come in from the wrong way as I ended up in the middle of it. Still perfectly do-able in jandals. Now off to play with a magnet in the sand! TFTC

Camando training course under the electric fence and on through the prickles and more prickels
My coord were off at first so took a few attempts to find the safest route to GZ. Once found the obvious path it was easy enough. A few ouches and the cache was in my hand. A few ouches more to get it back!! Not best to be dressed in shorts and T-Shirt. Signed by Mr S. TFTC.
When we went for a short stroll on the beach we also searched for this container. It was harder than we expected and we had to look in various different places before we found the correct spot, which is quite exactly located where the GPS was trying to send us the whole time. Thanks.

Found it after an encounter with a most unfriendly bush! Lovely beach with only a bicyclist and a horseback rider in sight.

... found it ! WOW ... a vast expanse of beach that was totally deserted ! What a treat to stroll along and watch the waves and have the scene ALL to ourselves. GZ, on the other hand, was prickly bush hell !

Found at 6:01 AM GAFF1 in the company of Phetlern. Saw penguin tracks, but no penguins and then it was gorse! We somehow avoided it though.
Thanks weenz

Our time on the South Island is drawing to a close as we journey further north toward Nelson & Picton in company with Pprass. We followed the penguin tracks up the beach but the tracks were heading out to sea. Had to fight our way through gorse to get to the cache and wonder if this shouldn't be a T2.5!
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt weenz.

On a caching trip with Holymu destination West Coast. This cache was on the list of night caches. GZ looked like one big gorse bush. Approach was tried from all angles and in the end it was decided to give blood. Close to giving up something caught the eye. Didn't see any penguins in residence. Nice one! TFTC
Well, that was an interesting find in the dark! Our first attempt at night caching round Carter's Beach was thwarted when we arrived to find a fireworks display about to happen. At least with all the locals gathered here it meant less muggles elsewhere so a quick change of order saw us carry on after making a donation to the Search and Rescue volunteers manning the road intersections. Once at the cache site the geo gods had to be appeased with a donation of red hydraulic fluid. TFTC.
we went for a little walk and thought this one did not survive the last flood....but surprise surprise after some searching it was found save and sound in its nest

Went for a walk on a rather windy night as a bit of leg stretching was needed after sitting around all day. Surprisingly easy to find, and there was indeed a Little Blue Penguin nearby.
Cheers and thanks,

Were digging around in some very nasty bushes until we found the telltale sign. TNL SG coin. Greetings from two Swedes in Singapore and TFTC!
Number 8 of 8 in 90 minutes at Carters Beach. Maybe the terrain rating should be increased to 2.5 or 3. There is a lot of the prickly stuff here. It also depends a lot on the direction you are coming from. We got a little help since we found the traces from the two other teams that tried to reach the cache location a few hours ago. Yes, thats right. Three logs on a single day.
Doing a few whle visiting the local area.....
Being honest this was our third visit! both previous times in silly on ttire! (shorts and flip flops) Got our jeans on and dealt with the prickly bu66ers!
Thanks for setting this up.

A prickly find while out for a walk. The wind is still blowing but the rain has stopped (for now - this is the West Coast). Kids enjoyed playing and getting wet in nearby stream. Tftc.
Not nice at all, especially if your GPS leads you further into the mess than actually needed.

Found it and got the scratches to prove it! Took geocoin and will drop off at next stop on my travels.
#4 in a quartet of finds at Carters Beach. Had fun looking around in the gore blimey (gorse) for this one. TFTC.
Found on a beautiful sunny Christmas morning. Wearing my best geocaching jandals but luckily managed to find quickly despite the prickly bits of nature around the cache.
Dropped geocoin Suncatcher, nice sunny spot there for it by the sea.
I noticed some penguin sign, looks like about 4 are nesting in here, but to see them you will have to be there at the crack of dawn or late at night.

A quick find in the rain while in Westport for the day. I'm glad I was wearing good waterproof boots with high gaiters, great for walking in long grass in wet weather. Lovely beach, enjoyed the walk. No lack of driftwood around here, one could make a fantastic bonfire once it dried out. Signed log, TFTC!
How creative is nature with all the wood on the beach....

Liebe Cachebesitzerin, lieber Cachebesitzer!

#592: Flotsam & Jetsam
We stopped by this one on our clockwise trip around the Northern part of the South Island. We were staying at the nearby Top Ten, and so I thought I should go out and try the four caches within close walking distance. This was number one, and my GeoCompanion for the evening was excited at the prospect of seeing penguins, so she came too. Well, no penguins, but we had a nice walk on the beach as the sun was heading down. Took a couple of pictures of things we saw.

Having not read the previous log we went the same way and luckily the fences were easily crossed by use of the handles to make it more comfortable Cache was finally spotted after taking the wrong side approach and getting too close to some of that prickly stuff!! Finally spotted my destination and signed the log TFTC
Think I would rather have walked along the beach to this one but read cache description after doing the cache !!! Stretch0 to tried the prickly path to the reward but managed a more prickly way back out !!! cache signed and replaced - thanks for the cache and bringing us to the beach
More like beachfoaming! Took an alternate route from a new subdivision (would not recommend as what seems like a communal path stopes 3/4 to the beach and there are electric fences and wooden fences to surmount) and found the cache easily. TFTC
