Geocaching diary date 06.10.2019: Discovered cache. Two crewmembers almost mortally wounded, one by thorn in foot the other by mobile phone being flung across and hitting said cache logger in the head. TFTC and the headache.
Some interesting walking trails in this area - we will have to check them out later when not so busy geocaching!
It took us a while to find our way in.

Easy find on the way home from Victor Harbor. Thought it would be accessible from main road but actually glad had to go down quiet side road to get to it as main road a 100kph zone. TFTC.
Found on route to mogni's house. Quick find. Added a new scroll and plastic bag.
Finally found one of my older caches I originally hid and it looks like this container has held up pretty well. Seen better days but good to see it still alive.
We checked out the Clydesdale's prior to going for the cache. Then we found that there was a great bridge to check out. Then it was time to look for the cache, it was easily spotted but not so easily collected. Watch your eyes on the spiky bush the is covering the cache container. SL TFTC
Watch out for the spiky bush. Nasty bugger.
Great bridge though.
Thanks for the cache mogni.

Mr Ozjeeper has memories of the Victor Harbor Clydesdales pulling him to Granite Island when he was a child so seeing where they now sleep had some significance for him. We were able to park fairly close and saw the nearby stables and exercise yards. Finding the cache was another matter altogether. He spent a long, long time scrambling over the fetlock-breaking rocks all to no avail.
With no finds and no log entries in over three months (plus our lengthy search turning up a DNF) perhaps the cache owner might like to make sure that the container is still there.

Last day before heading, home, back in South Australia, on a caching mission, and spending some time at the sites. Tftc.
We are travelling from Melbourne to Adelaide via Warrnambool, Mt Gambier and Victor Harbour. We have stayed 2 nights in Warrnambool and Mount Gambier and are now in Victor Harbour. We spent the morning over at Granite Island and after lunch even though the weather was looking a bit dicey we decided to head out again as we move on to Adelaide tomorrow. This was next on the radar and we saw the Clysdales on the way in. As we were about to leave a very friendly dog came bounding up reminding us of our gorgeous puppy at home

Amazing how before caching nothing takes as long to drive to, but you discover caching and all quick trips take hours longer One of those days today, tftc
Found but the clue was no help.... after abit of a search thought like a bird and bam found tftc
Here with hevwalker & Froghoppin caching around the area.
A quick walk up the track, not where I thought it would be.
Thanks for the cache spuddymoore

A new job and a seachange for me, means I am now in an area with lots of geocaches. Exploring the area and grabbing a few caches.

Thought we would have to cross the river for a second but luckily we didn't wasn't to hard to find but it's in a sneaky spot
We found this one but unable to log as paper is SATURATED and needs replacing. TFTC
Couldn't find it. I'm pretty sure I knew where it was but, mum said there were lots of snakes xD. Maybe next time.
We usually give Victor Harbor a wide berth when were out geocaching, but the old wooden bridge caught our eye, so we stopped in for a look.
After examining the bridge, I headed over to look for the cache, but came up empty handed. After reading the previous log I think I'm glad I didn't find it.

We got very wet here as it started to rain and actually the cache was also saturated due to recent high water levels as this area has flooded - I would suggest an owner check. We emptied the cache container of water and wrote on the wet and limp log with a powertank pen, but sadly it is ruined.
Out and about with the lovely Ozibags where we spent a very enjoyable day caching around Victor Harbor to celebrate his 10,000th find. It was great to laugh almost non-stop....hahaha....my belly seriously hurt at times!!
Thanks for the cache!

Out and about for some geocaching with GoodLook. The recent rain has caused water to get into the cache, but at least it was still there! log is a bit mushy now. TFTC spuddymore.
Went for a walk on this beautiful river trail. I found it hard to believe that in nice weather on a Sunday I had this place all to myself. Found the cache alright and in good condition. Took nothing and left a viking ship. Thank you for bringing me here spuddymoore. TFTC
Nice horses. Now which trail. We picked the one that worked. Quick find at gz.

Hi there spuddymoore.
We found your cache **"Giddy Up 3"** at 10:50:00 AM today.
This was our 8th cache find in a caching run of 12 Finds & 2 DNFs today. (So this now makes our find count 12804.)
Today was our last day in the area & our cache run took us to Victor Harbor once more, initially to complete an EarthCache and then to attempt a few caches we couldn't get to in the last few days. We enjoyed our walks today but the weather was too grey to take any photos.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around 2m from where our GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good condition.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Found with Found with the family while staying at the lovely Encounter Bay - no sign of snakes even though it was warm - signed log
I hate looking around rocks saw a few nice lizards, I'm glad they weren't snakes.
Found whilst down at Victor Harbor for the weekend, and having been caching hear quite a few times so this time was spent mainly finding old dnf's and recently published caches and this was first on the list. A reasonably quick find.

After red grabbed some dinner in Victor Harbour, he a quick search on the App for a cache to hunt down. On noticed someone log they saw Clydesdales are nearby this cache, red thought he would have a look... and hopefully send ronso a picture of her favourites breed of horse :cD Arriving at the nearest spot to park, red noticed the ladies owners and their Clydesdales where finishing up for the day... so after a quick search for and signing of the cache log, red stopped for a few pictures :c) But it seems the owners thought he was up to no good and took a picture of the vehicle on leaving the area :c/ Maybe we need to invest in some sort of large "geocaching" decal for the geo-mobile :cP TFTC!!
Had just been for a nice drive around Inman Valley and were heading back to the caravan park and Madham02 suggests we find one more. [?] We had driven past here previously but didn't find our way in that time. Today we found the way and even saw the Clydesdales which was a bonus.
Searched around for a while and it was only when looking from another angle that the cache was spotted.
Thanks for the cache spuddymore. So now we have to go and get the other two!!

Easy find despite slipping on the rocks. TFTC Watch out for the thorny bushes
Parking is easy on Canton Place

My second stop on my trip 'around the block' with BJ this afternoon and my only DNF. It was rather overgrown around GZ and as I later discovered, my Smartphone app was out by several metres in most instances today.
So that's where they live. Very careful retreiving the cache. There with Team MKM. TFTC
Found with upsanddowns. Also found the lovely trail that runs along the Inman River to the Ocean. Will investigate that another day. TFTC
Terrain 1 - not quite wheelchair accessible, it was fun watching Dr Owl crawling around on her knees looking for this cache.
Difficulty 1 1/2 - only if you're in the right location and looking in the right direction.
The GPSr doesn't understand it's not safe to park on the ring road. Naughty GPSr.
Thanks for the cache spuddymoore.

Owl and Sushilord took entirely the wrong approach, but despite a nice walk and some strenuous searching, the cache was nowhere to be found. Finally Owl was in just the right position to spot it. The Clydesdales were nowhere to be seen... until later.
Our GPS wanted us to walk to this one from the main road. We spotted the gravel road near GZ though and ignoring the GPS we made our own way there.
Beautiful timing here as the Clydesdales were just returning from their day at the causeway as we pulled up. What beautiful creatures they are and we had the pleasure of riding out to the island yesterday on their tram.
A quick find was then made at GZ.
Thanks, a favourite point for bringing us to this spot to see these horses at rest. It is so nice that they lead a normal life and aren't kept in stables like many working horses.

# 6662. Robmc and I awoke to another glorious sunny day. Good. Time for a tram ride to Granite Island. We might even find the 4 caches out there and walk the walk. What a fantastic place, great views all the way around.
Found our way in to the dirt road fairly easily and admired the nice bridge that we didn't access today. Continued to GZ and evaded the prickly bush. We weren't too happy searching amongst those rocks and the long spongy grass. The weather is warming up and we don't like snakes at all. I was in the right spot but couldn't manage to put my hands on the cache until Rob approached from a different direction and could see it. Took broken pencil and replaced it with a sharpened one (if I am remembering correctly). Think I also left a pathtag here.
Thanks spuddymoore

Granite Island today with BettyBoo3747. We took the horse drawn tram out to the Island and walked the loop walk around the island. Lovely day for it, seas flat as a tack and blue skies.
We saw the Clydesdales at work this morning, now at rest this afternoon.
A bit of a detour to get to GZ, but an interesting track nearby.
The long grass made this one a bit of a challenge.
Thanks, Robmc.

heading down to this one i reversed to car to clarify my suspicion....yep it was correct, a nice big red belly black snake sun baking on the side of the road, as i stopped it retreated back into the grass and we headed 80 metres down the road to get the cache, geowife wasn't to keen on getting this one after what we just saw : ) i thought it was great as i love snakes : )
This has to be the least number of caches I have found on a run to Victor Harbor since I started caching
3 successful locus cache events and 1 DNF
Mr 3LG was looking at a SR250 motorbike and so it was a rushed trip there and back.
I did get to ride the bike though, so that almost made up for it
Sadly for us, no Clydesdales in the paddock today but we did see a nice big red belly black snake which really did freak out Mrs 3LG as 'snakes don't come out in the rain' had been the story only about an hour before

It was a magnificent day worthy of a caching trip, but with Mrs M helping a family friend for the day it was up to Mr M to join CPwanderer and brisal5 for a caching trip to Victor Harbor. It was a very enjoyable day in which brisal5 achieved his 3000 milestone.
We have driven past this one a few times before and wondered how to get to it. CP had already done this one so he navigated Mr M to the best parking spot. A short walk and Mr M found it in a place already searched by brisal5. TFTC spuddymoore.

When I got the call that a caching trip to Victor was been planned I quickly booked a seat. So with CP and Mr. M from Aussie M&M we set out in the general direction...southish
Almost another addition to my confusing series. It is just here but how do I get to it. [?] Lucky for us CP knew how. QFM mad the find after I overlooked it. Thanks spuddymoore.
