Seeing I don't work Fridays and ANZAC was a Thursday this year it was a good opportunity to get away and go geocaching over the extra long weekend. My Auckland Grandies had been sick so no visits to them this time but I did have dinners with my other Auckland son. I do love Devonport. With quite a few green dots out this way and no ftf needed for my dot day calendar I was excited to spend the day out here.I'd been here with Yvettetb and had a Dnf on 17.12.23. There had been lots of sunbathers back then but just a few walkers on the beach today despite it being a fairly warm day. After quite a bit of searching I read Gorbys log for a hint. I'd been focussing on the non camera sign wall. Pleased I finally spotted it. I couldn't actually reach the cache so took a photo as proof. I always use an android smart phone for my geocaching and I prefer to use the c:geo app. My latest phone is a Samsung Galaxy A12. Thanks for the cache Smile

17-Dec-23
We searched around as much as we could for this cache but the owners of the property were on their deck having lunch so we tried to stay out of sight but had no luck finding this one today, will need to come back another day.

I wanted my cache for the day, the month streak from HQ finished yesterday, but I haven't finished streaking, I'd like to beat my best of 62 days so on we go!

Took us bus into town from Te Atatu, then a ferry to Devonport then the 807 that goes around and back to the ferry, such fun it was then a short walk along the beach. Quite warm today, nice to see the sun out mid winter and it stayed nice all day.

Cache all good here, found on top of the stone wall wedged in by the glass fence, seems fine there, replaced the paper with waterproof stuff, it was well worn out and this should keep things ticking along for a while. Thanks Indiana Jill for the hide, will be back up here again I'm sure.

The gps was quite a bit out with both of the phones we were using. Then spotted the cache sat out in the open.

A nice quick find. I added a slip of waterproof paper to tide it over till the CO can refresh the log. Thanks for placing your cache.

Ms_KR and I are in Auckland Auckland for a break and we are exploring the region while we are based here. Today we cruised to finish off the Mega beaches Ad Lab. We had four still to do. We had another great day out, with rain threatening most of the day.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

02-Aug-22
The snail comments from others were a great clue! Slaters and centipedes too! Where do they like to hide??

23-Jul-22
Found it but full of water and no paper so didn't write my name! Guarded by gig centipedes Smile

23-Jul-22
Thanks, the phone GPS found without to many issues. Not where I thought it was going to be, but seems easy once found. Thanks

16-Jul-22
This is one of those caches that when you find it it's obvious, but it doesn't seem that way when you first get to the GZ. A friend actually found this, but didn't want to open it, hahaha. Thanks!

26-Jun-22

27-Mar-22
not too easy but not too hard!

26-Mar-22
My first visit to NZ and after a few hours of sleep before heading out to discover my surrounding. I decided on doing a few caches which didn't end on a couple. Sadly I didn't take a pen along with myself so took a photo. I also didn't put a log as I logged on phone. I really enjoyed the walk and the views. Some caches were more difficult than others .
Thanks for all the hard work that went into the caches.
Apologies for copy and paste.

Visited on a gorgeous crisp winters evening right on sunset. Pretty sure I found the general area of the spot - and thanks to the person who placed this cache for helping me discover a beautiful beach I’d never visited before. Didn’t like to rootle around and look for the box as I was under the eyes of neighbours and multiple muggles.

09-Aug-21
Log needs replacing too wet to sign. Had no replacement with me.

27-Jul-21
Great spot! Thank you

13-Jul-21
Last day in Devonport. I DNFed my target cache for today, so walked a bit further along to this one. Lots of muggles enjoying the midwinter sunshine but none near GZ, apart from a couple dozen snails! Container in fine condition though. TFTC (found using c:geo on my Samsung A10.)

26-Jun-21
Quick and easy find. It seems as if the natural camouflage has been cut back. Cashe was out in the open.

*** Retrospectively logging finds now Lock-down has spoiled my plan for improving finds to become 10+ find days. ***

There's not many places you can head to in early June and get a sweat built up whilst strolling along a beautiful golden beach, but there is here. Nice hide though the log was a little delicate and brittle when signing.

When I first started working over on the North Shore, initially for 3 months, then out to 6 months, I identified this target-rich environment as being what would enable me to upgrade my finds per day from single-figure find days (there were about 20 days of 5 or more). I went out over a range of dates and physically made the find, signed the log, and noted the date on my personal note. These were reserved for finds when required, or back-dated finds if not 'required'. I'd been tracking well and improved all days desired until this week when Lock-down meant the end of finding caches and thus the 5-day on 20 Aug will be missed, as will a few others coming up, I suspect.

28-Apr-21
A lot of snails! Tftc

20-Apr-21
Found it with Ally, a little dirty. Tftc!
