3rd find on this grey, cool day. I was walking south along the trail and completely missed the small track going up to the gz. I ended up following another clearing that only went up 10m before disappearing. So I had to bush bash the last 15m up steep incline which was fun and got the heart pumping. Once at gz it was a quick find using the handy stick. For other cachers: There is a small animal track up to gz that starts around 30m NORTH EAST of gz.
I parked the geomobile near Ginger Meggs Park and began the walk from there as this seemed like the best spot to begin my walk considering other business today.
It seemed like a straightforward walk on google satellite view which I had previously checked. I was aware that the track headed left but it seemed like a much greater distance than I expected so I was a bit worried that I was just doing a walk and not heading to a cache at all!
I followed a well marked track and passed a few groups of other walkers, which did surprise me. The views were good and the forest was interesting. Gradually the track began to head where I hoped and the metres decreased.
I took note of the information on the cache page to access the cache and with excellent co-ordinates found the cache easily.
That rock overhang is very impressive!
No leeches - thank goodness.

What an absolutely perfect spot for a cache and how big was that cave nearby! Stick was helpful to ward off the dangly webby bits and there it was. TFTC
This cache has been on our "oh we should have gone looking for it today" list for a while. Finally got to it today. The trail was not as heavily travelled as we expected. Found our way sideways as suggested, but we were not quite where we needed to be. We managed to find a way around and the cache log was soon signed. All this while we could see walkers on the trail below checking us out, but fortunately this was one cache where we didn't need to worry about the muggle factor. Returning to the track below was a walk in the park literally, as we spotted a path that was gently sloping. It as so much easier coming down rather than going up. Thanks for a great experience, Yurt.
Never one to heed a hint, I approached this from below with my little companion. She enjoyed the climb up and was careful to watch her noggin whilst retrieving the cache. We made some swaps but unfortunately the badge she traded for before we got to our next stop. We retraced our steps but couldn’t find it again. Oh well, Nevermind.
Loved how the bush undergrowth changed as we approached GZ along the track. Quite a different feeling Forrest from just a few hundred metres away. Nice spot to stop and munch on an apple whilst watching other hikers pass by.
Just clue #3 left for me to find now.

OCW traciefirefly & mum on a sunny autumn Monday, we walked around from the Western trail and first made an attempt from a completely impossible angle before realising our error and walking back to a better access path. That investigation wasn’t completely wasted though because along that track we did get to spend 10 minutes watching a very proud lyrebird showing off his singing and mimicking of other bird noises. Back on the right track, so saw the overhang and spent quite a long time searching for the spider-guarded hide. Just as we decided to give up, one of us spotted a likely spot and sure enough, there it was. Log signed, we did some snooping and found a very direct path back to the car. This really is a nice area of bush to explore.

I wouldn't recommend this one if you don't like spiders. Luckily there is a nice long stick to remove the webs.
I made this one hard for myself!
Bush bashed quite a distance before I spotted the cave, and made a b-line for it.
But that didn’t seem quite right.
Expanded my search radius, and fairly quickly found a terrain feature that matched the hint.
Success!
After replacing the cache, and admiring the view I attempted to make my way back to the road.
Scrambled up a rock to discover that there was a considerably more direct route, that I’d completely missed.
Oh well, at least getting back was easier.

What a lovely bit of bush through here! If only it was more hidden, as there were quite a few people out on the trail today.
There was even a couple with a dog near GZ when I popped my head around the corner. That led to an awkward conversation of what i was doing. Thankfully there was a really impressive cave nearby that was worth the detour off the track.
Found the cache not to long after that.
Thanks for the cache!!!

I have all these local caches that I have been going to do one day. This is one of those gunna caches. I think I have ever attempted to find it from the great north walk at some stage.
Today while heading out after work to do some shopping I made the detour down here. Parking at ginger megas but the track I planned to take didn’t exist so ended up walking a little bit further then planned. Loved the short little scramble up around the rocks and into Fred flintstones bedroom for a lucky quick find as it was dark by the time I got back to the car. Lovely views. Lovely vegetation and a few lovely lady Lycra lizards using the track so this cache gets a favourite. Some unloved as well.

Great hide. Loved the area nearby and it was interesting to take a detour from the walking trails I've hiked along a few times in the last few years. I'm looking forward to obtaining the remaining clues before the final. TFTC.
We headed out early this morning for a bushwalk and to find a few caches as we went. Thisone was our first find. We probably could’ve come in a slightly easier way but we were soon at GZ.
Plenty of spiderwebs across the ‘entrance’ but that didn’t deter us. All nice and dry here.
We do like ammo tins.
We enjoyed reading your Description above too.
Thanks heaps Yurt for placing this cache and adding more fun to our walk.

Took the wrong way and into a cement causeway but then backtracked and followed the main track. Huge rock cliffs there!
Found with the troops on a grey day. Coming from Westleigh is a mission to find the spot.
Last one of a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon exploring this beautiful area.
The weathering on the nearby overhang is very special- thanks for bringing us here!
Grabbed cache and notesd clue #4 will have to wait as we’re heading home now

Bit tricky to get to! Encountered a red belly black snake on the way! But was a great spot
Found this one today after finding deadly tree. Didn't read the advice on the right approach and made the scramble harder than required by coming in from below. It was a great walk in on a section I hadn't done before. Thanks for being me here and the placement Cheers
I had no idea from which side I should approach. But finally I made it At 11:20 a.m. I signed the logbook.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Tftc, my caching partner had to work so I came back solo to grab this one. Parked at Gingermeggs and made the trek up. Didn't realise how much the up hill would be but luckily the track flattened out. Headed down to GZ and I could see that some climbing would be needed. I have a dislike of leeches and I thought the ferny uphill would result in a few. Luckily I reread the COs advice about getting to the cache. I went further down the track and made a dry entry to the cache.
Grabbed the hint for #4. Will solve it and come for another walk!

Took a couple of goes to did the right angle of approach. Listen to CO when it is recommended not to bushbash. Backtrack along walk below and find a way up to ridgeline. TFTC. All in good shape.
I took the recommended route to the GZ but still had some trouble narrowing down the hiding spot. The view was nice even with an annoying dog spending most of the time barking at me. Thanks. This series has been quite enjoyable so far.
Definitely took hard way to get to this cache. Found four leeches after climbing the hill through the thick ferns, all worth it for those cool rock formations though. Looking forward to finding the next 2 in the series. TFTC.
Phew, that was a good, invigorating walk up the valley from Ginger Meggs!
Thought I had gone way off track when j found myself checking the gardens of houses on QS Road.
Went to make a quick find at the deadly tree. Then decided to bush bash it in a straight line towards GZ. Found the overhang, and then just a little way away on a lower level made a quick grab. Clue noted and a pic taken. Now for the others in the series!
Thanks Yurt!

After leaving Don's Party wandered down this way to see about some missing clues to the final location of the the secret in Higgin's hidden valley. I till had two to do, this and the first. Did the third some time ago. The rain had abated for a little while and I found a way down between the houses at the end of QS road. Passed some assorted animals and fish on a rock platform next to the houses and wandered off a narrow trail then off the trail in a bee line for GZ. The large caves quite impressive on the way down. Initially had in mind some honey comb on the upper and despite the wet surface was able to look into the holes but then realised I was well off GZ and re-positioned lower down where a quick find was made. Signed and replaced and then headed down to the trail to search for the deadly tree. Thanks Yurt, another great location.

Having just come from a DNF at The Deadly Tree, decided to pop around the corner to hopefully grab the second in this series. Didn't really find a great approach to GZ but got there in the end. A great clue from GH as I nearly dismissed the hiding spot too quickly. Got attacked by mossies while performing signing duties and taking note of the series clue. I think that's better than leaches right? Interesting rock formations a little higher up. Took the quicker exit trail which joined QS Rd between houses #262 and 264. I'm looking forward to #3 and the surprise. TFTC.

Decided on a bushwalk this afternoon after the cricket. and before a meeting. Can I grab one or two before time runs out?
Decided on this one - I have previously nabbed #1 & #3 in the series.
Probably didn't come in the easiest way - accessed via Russell Crescent. First 300 metres was a narrow trail that faded in and out in parts. After that until near GZ it was a nice wide track.
Started towards the cache and it took me quite a while to finally get to the right spot (iPhone had me within a few metres in a number of places - but once close it seemed a likely spot despite all the cobwebs).
Completed signing duties and replaced. Left an Oz Geomuster 2018 card. Grabbed the hint - I now have all I need to grab the final.
While under the overhang - impressive - a dog went off in the nearby backyard. Muggle owner quietened it. Didn't see either.
Only 30-45 minutes to spare, probably not enough for The Deadly Tree - another time.
Despite checking a few times en route, I picked up two leeches and brushed off some small ticks as well. Vicious area!

After finding two roos, i found a closer way down to the great north walk to find a few caches in the valley.
After a dnf at the deadly tree, skinning my knuckles in the process, then answering a phone call, I continued on to find this.
When i came alongside gz from the track, I took in the hint and made my way to a good approach. Once there the hiding spot was obvious. Grab the cache, collect the tbs, and finish the phone call so I had free hands to sign the log and record the hint.
I will hold off finding the last two in the series for another day. Those clouds are getting dark.
Thanks for the cache.

This was really challenging and took a while as I started at the parking coords but not paying attention, headed off the other way for about half a km before noticing. Lovely walk anyway and I was looking for #1 on my phone but couldn't find it! Turns out I had a hide my finds filter on. Whatever info was there i didnt collect at the time, a failing i repeated with this one as I only read the full notes inferring info to be had later.
anyways, walked to GM park and tried three approaches from the bottom - no not the channel, nor the beeline along a faint trail uphill (even though GZ was ~200m away). Third time was to actually take the long road up and around through some wonderful bush.
close to Gz was at 2-3% power so absorbed clues and came in from the side with good effect. had a pocketful of TBs so dropped off at least 2, maybe three as my recount suggests.
Then had a sprint up the hill to see if I could get to The Deadly Tree before power clapped out - alas no, and my brief glance at the clue did not avail.

After "Ginger Meggs", followed the mapped trail to grab another "Higgins hidden series". At least this had some sort of trail to GZ.
Looking up from the bottom, some of the sandstone sails looks quite attractive. Entering from the side and once at GZ, I spied the hint easily, thus a quick find, thanks Yurt

For along time I have put off doing this cache. Today I could wait no longer so around and up and around I went till I spotted the fantastic spot to hide a cache.
I took what I needed after replacing the cache and remembering what I came to do!?!

This was my third in the series today. I stopped at my car on the way through to do a thorough leech check and found three more of the little suckers inside my boot. I pulled them off before they could reattach themselves.
I came up the Ginger Meggs trail and then the little side trial that wanders for about 800 m to GZ. I couldn't find a way around the side so I bush bashed the 30 m up to the cache. I found the box quite quickly and then found two more leeches on my boots. Having dealt with the suckers I dealt with the logging duties.
Thanks Yurt. The cache is in good shape. Found at 10:05 am.

#2 of 6 found in a day out caching for geomum's birthday.
For this cache I had a "brilliant" idea to drive to another spot further down valley road and access the cache from where my GPSr had the Great North Walk.
We walked for a little while before coming to a clearing. There were two paths here. We followed the first, but it was going the complete wrong direction. We took the second for a little while, but it lead to nowhere. We didn't know what to do. We fiddled around on the phone for a while trying to get a map that worked to see if there was some oath we hadn't seen or if the first path was going to make a sudden turn. I took some photos of flowers, and 30 minutes later we finally had decided what to do.
The second path actually turned, which we didn't see (it was a very faint trail). We followed this for a very short while but then this path ended too. So it was a bush bash through the ferns for quite a while, before we finally got to the path. This lead to a much more enjoyable walk and then a short bush bash to the cache.
I found the access to the cache quite quickly and headed to where the hint said and bingo, there we go, another ammo tin. Signed in, replaced, took in the view, caught our breath and made our way down again. Thanks Yurt for another adventure, will have to complete the series some other time.
BTW for future finders I would assume it would be much easier and quicker to access the cache if you just came straight from the first following the paths!

Well there was a gap of 2 and a half years between finding the first and second caches in
this series, but only about 30 minutes until the third. As the family was all together, we
got back in the car and drove to the end of Quarter Sessions rd. This I know was not the
ideal way to explore the changes in habitation but necessary and we will be back to get the
final another time to explore this great bushland! The access to the bush wasn't obvious
but trusting the map as laid out in the GPSr we walked down what looked like private
property but soon turned into a public access path. Would be good if it got sign-posted.
It was a great walk down to the general area but then we read the hint and suggested
approach and wondered the best way in. Geodaughter and I clamber up several sets of rocks
until we found ourselves at the right level and made our way to GZ. Here the cache was
soon spotted.
Another great cache and we are looking forward to the final.
Geoson recognized the area from his Duke of Ed. hike earlier in the year, so convinced me
to follow him down to the waterhole. It was a fair hike, but I am so glad we did as down
there, which is obviously National Park, is a wonderful area as well.
TFTC Yurt, and for getting us all out into the bush!

3/07/13. 8:01 AM. Cache #725. Current streak: 297 days. A planned late start at work this morning gave me a good opportunity to duck out for an early jog and cache. Parked in Valley Rd and from there followed an Aussie cartoon icon and a type of Eucalypt, through the ferns until I saw the rocky overhang. From here, I couldn't work out a way to the cache that didn't involve coming up from below, so that's what I had to do. From here, the signal got jumpy so I checked out the hint, and that referred to only one spot - this made it an easy find. Signed and grabbed the numbers for The Secret and continued on to The Deadly Tree. TFTC }:)
Following the instructions, I left the car where it was, and continued on from #1 in the series. This time I found better trails, but still must have missed a turn and had to do a little cross country work. After a km or 2 of running I was in the area. Again my GPS wasn't very helpful (maybe I have to upgrade?), and I went around and around in increasing loops. Saw some interesting eroded features, until I came across the area that matched the hint exactly - must be there somehere!
Then it was back onto the trails to #3 ....
Then it was back onto the trails to #3 ....
A long walk from HHV #3, and then accessing the cache from the wrong direction. But we found it, even if it cost a scrubbed knee and ditto elbow.
Now home to calculate the location for the final cache.
Now home to calculate the location for the final cache.
We had been wanting to do this for a while but with a wet winter we kept away from #1. The recent dry spell had us remembering this close series was long over due for finding so despite so mobility issues we headed off from the suggested co-ords and after picking up #1 clue made our way up to #2. Again another nice peice of bush and the GPSr was much better here and we soon found the cache hidy hole. We completed the signing duties and re hid after grabbing the clue for the final. We started to piece the puzzle together but got one of those calls from home so had to cut short the search for #4 bit at least we are getting closer. TFTC
Talk about taking the long way in! We took a much more difficult route to find this one. Should have just sticked close to the houses.... Once GPS locked on, the cache was in hand. I wonder what the intended path for this one was? Surely we don't have to go so close to the houses?
The last on our afternoon of caching. Parked on Quarter Sessioms Rd and walked in between the houses. The entry betwween the houses is difficult to find but a kindly neighbour pointed it out to us. Behind the houses we found a trail that seemed to lead in the opposite direction but followed it anyway. Took a round about route to GZ. The geokids loved the cave. We searched for a long time before Dinkyfish found the cache. We then found a more direct route back to the car walking behind the row of houses. TFTC
Didn't find this yesterday so emailed CO for a hint. Although he was away on holiday he sent a bit of advice that made the find pretty easy. Came in from Bellamy Street in Pennant Hills this time - about a 6.5 km walk along the GNW - grabbed the 2 Dogs cache - Fenced In on the way. Took the final clue, will only be able to work on the puzzle at home as with the walk back to the car we wouldn't have time to make the final find. Thanks for another great adventure Yurt.
After finding #1 and #3 we had to try to finish the series. Found Deadly Tree first, then a walk back along the track just 50 meters or so there is a clear branch leading up the hill (about 120 m from GZ) path took us straight to the awesome overhang which we enjoyed for a while before getting down to a search. Found at least on spot that totally suited the hint. Read all the other logs and tried any and all spots that seemed to fit but no luck. Will watch this one and try again to finish the series.
Found a way down from Higgins place Westleigh. From here I walked along a small track until I found a sign saying no bushwalking. I then went down the hill bushbashing until I got onto another track which took me to near gz. I then went mountain goat (or roo) up to gz where I made a quick easy find using the iphone TFTC
Finding myself relatively close at Deadly Tree, I spotted the Blue Gum track just down from where I was which led me in the right direction. Unfortunately it did take me below, and I had to engage the inner mountain goat to make my way to the correct level.
It had been very smand as I was searching the smoke suddenly thickened making me hope there wasn't a new and closer fire I needed to be worried about. Luckily it cleared fairly quickly so must have just been a wind change. Searched in various places until the clue suddenly made sense and there it was. Made my way back out on a higher but much more overgrown path, which eventually led me back to the Great North Walk where I could loop back to the start. I love these bush caches which make you feel you could be a lot further from Sydney than you are. Thanks Yurt.

I love these bush caches which make you feel you could be a lot further from Sydney than you are. Thanks Yurt.
Unfortunately approached this cache from below pulling lulu up behind me. iPhone decided it was 11m away regardless of where I was which had me looking in the wrong place. Eventually when I got close to location I knew I had found it. Cheers
Approached this from Epping via the Great North Walk. By the time we got here we needed a break. Left TLM Mum down on the track below while I headed up the hill. Compass in GPS needed calibration but this was no place to do that so just had to keep moving to keep it pointing in roughly the right direction. Ended up too high which was good as it allowed me to see some great rock overhangs and nice ferns.
Dropped back dow and spotted a likely area based on the hint. Luckily it brought success as I didn't want to be searching around here too long. Returned back down the hill to join up with TLM Mum who had met a walker while I was gone who asked were we caching and gave her a bit of advice. Don't know who it was.
Great spot Yurt whick luckily is not visited by a lot of people. Wouldn't want the area trampled.

Well, what a mess I made of this! Firstly, couldn't find where the track led off from the main fire trail from number 1. Walked up and down several times - but eventually spotted it obscured by some certain sewage works that were going on. Slipped past and followed the pipes, until finally emerging out the other side of the works. Then it was a very pleasant ferny walk to the cache. I took the advice of not bush bashing to the spot and found something that may have been a path to follow. Spotted a great overhang, but on arrival, the GPS pointed me back down over another overhang - deciding that I needed to be further down I back tracked to the proper path and, finding no other way, headed up through an area slightly clear from undergrowth. Of course, the good old GPS then pointed me back up....so trotted back to the path and then up to where I had started - moving a bit away, I spotted the great hiding spot, and the GPS finally agreed. ...I swore once I had left and moved onto another cache as I suddenly recalled that I forgot the clue....picked it up on the way back - doh

Hi yurt!!
Fortunately no leeches as mentioned earlier, unless.. Oh that is one there. A day filled with the little creatures, but they couldn't ruin the beauty of this area! Resisted the urge to bush bash, and thankfully it paid off on the end. Cheers for the cache and the location!

For a while, I thought that alfyboy may have re-hidden this one a little too well (see previous log entry). I searched GZ then went further afield, but the GPSr was persistent so I returned. I resorted to the use of a piece of equipment that I don’t normally carry, but fortuitously had with me today, and there it was! A great hide in a beautiful area. Impressive overhang nearby. Finally, after many months I was able to get out here and go for number 3 (well my number 3 anyway). Was all prepared with the long pants, those sock/ankle protector things and even plenty of deet all in anticipation for the leech attack I had read about in previous logs.
Came in after getting Deadly Tree and found a path on the low side. Veered up and to a higher ground where I started searching. Kept checking my ankles for signs of blood sucking, but nothing. After a few minutes went to one area and when I peered in, saw the cache on the ground in easy view. Hmmm....was it meant to be here, don't know? Grabbed it and checked it out. Not much stuff in here, but it did have the most important things, a log book and the clue for #4 I SL, Took the TB, but had nothing to place in there.
I then replaced the cache a little further (harder?) than where I got it from as it looked like that's where it came from, and it's in a good spot now. Then I re checked my ankles, but alas, nothing...not one little leech to give me cause for concern, or excitment [:o)] Oh well..A great third cache and now what to do with these clues??!? Another great spot Yurt, TFTC.

I had attempted this about 5 months ago, starting from the recommended point in Normanhurst, but only managed to get in tune with my inner Rainbow Spirit, taking a most unsatisfactory route through bushes, multiple crossings of streams and along the concrete drain, in fact everywhere except the formal paths, until eventually giving up and returning home in frustration. I didn't log a DNF as it really needed a Did Not Even Get Close Enough to Look.
This time I came from the north, after finding the Deadly Tree, and had a Much easier time finding this. I didn't find the "easy path in", so needed to work my up through the ferns from the path, but once close I had a good look at the cave (impressive!) before finding the little hidey-hole. The cache is in good condition, well guarded by a village of spiders (but luckily no leeches), and I took nothing but the clue info, signed log and headed back to the car via the easiest route, finding the path between the houses just above, rather than heading back down to the path.
Thanks for the cache, Yurt!

Not sure where the trail was but managed to locate the hidung spot reasonably quickly. Geodad made me jump in for the retrieve while he beat off the monster leeches. SL TFTC
Great walk, great cache except for the leeches - Arrrrggghhh!!
After all the rain it was leach city around here today. Stood on the rock at GZ and removed a dozen from my socks and another 6 from my sons.
Was so consumed with de-leeching that we forgot ot record the clues -doh!!

I had started out looking for this one on Saturday but hadnt got a decent map and couldnt for the life of me work out how to get to GZ. More time (and patience) today (sunday) altho having to effectively walk 'past' the closest point and on (and on and on...) and THEN try and work out how to get where i wanted to be was - hmmm... a challenge??!! Anyway, all good and SOOO impressed with the amazing cave nearby - yet another photo-opportunity, of course!! The clue was helpful, at least i knew i was close so the actual find was really just a formality. TnLn, SL and yet again, TfTc, Yurt !!
Another great Yurt hide.
Now I have all the clues but ran out of time to get the secret cache. Maybe next time I'm down here!

Once we managed to find the entrance (somebody by the side of the road told us to simply go in between the houses) it was a fairly easy find at a great location. I have to admit that all caches we did today were really big fun and interesting.

If you want to know the hardest way to get to this cache just do what I did! First come down from #1, then at the firetrail creek crossing, go down stream, follow some pink tape through the bush, climb up to the east side of the creek and parallel fence lines, falling over a few times, and getting a dog or two to bark at you. Eventually find where the creek becomes a concrete drain, carefully walk over the moss, and slime, and go down the drain bed, then when it gets full of water, climb over the wall, and head UP through the ferns, cursing yourself and Yurt for coming here! Oh, and at the top find the cache in a very easy spot, hahaha. Thanks Yurt.... of cause I did find a slightly easier way back!

Reperio at 1215. The third one in this series located today, and after some free climbing down some rocks to get to the trail, it was on to GZ where it was time to search through more rocks. Glad to say this was found much quicker than the previous two, and once I had collect the final clue...plotted the coords...I soon knew where I was headed...to a place I had been earlier. Enjoying the series.
Gratias Yurt.

Was taking a group of European visitors on a bush walk to the rock pools when a few of us decided to tackle this cache before heading home for lunch. Found GZ ok but was put off completely by the clue! Got there in the end and home in time for bacon sandwiches. TNLN TFTC.
What a great spot. The view into the valley is wonderful. The neighbours were right at the window while I looked for the cache - but I was out of sight at GZ thankfully. Great hide & great container.
With it getting late I had to make haste to get back to Quarter Sessions. On the way I was attacked by a giant black poodle - I thought for a fleeting moment it was the fabled black Sydney panther, but no just an unusually large and upset poodle. No harm done.

We had come from Rosemead Rd in Hornsby and had just conquered Joe's Mountain and The Deadly Tree so thought we'd grab this one before exiting at Westleigh. The rocks are amazing!! Had a little trouble reaching the cache but eventually got it! Thanks for showing as some more great local sites! We loved the rock carvings of the fish and kangaroo on the way out!! TNLN TFTC!
Came in on the short Westleigh route. Fantastic spot with the overhang above and the bracken forest below. TFTC
We had pretty much given up on this one as we couldn't find the correct trail. Then after circling around and hour or so later from another direction we spotted a small trail heading in the proper directi, lon and ended up scoring this one....didn't particularly enjoy the climb up and back down to the trail, but was glad we made the effort....Took a second look into the "place" using a flashlight to be able to see the cache. On the was up I heard a thud and rustle of bushes, looked over to see a good sized kangaroo/wallaby or some similiar hopping animal heading quickly away....Cool!! Thanks, good hide...
I would like to say that I liked this hide but after picking off more leeches than we could count I didn't like going for this one. We wanted to go to Joes Mountain but decided it was time to find a Pub in Hornsby before heading back to the city. We were having our much earned beverage when I noticed that my angle was hurting. I looked and sure enough there were two more leeches enjoying my blood. I had the voucher take a photo before heading outside the pry them off with a coaster. Of course I have no idea where they hopped on for the ride. Even though we only found six on our 6+ mile hike we still had a good day with a lot of laughs. TFTC
We've explored this lovely area with the cave before - it's close to my "Deadly Tree" cache. With the GPS sending us in circles we spent a lot of time searching too high. Finally worked it out when we spotted the obvious area from above. Fortunately no leeches today. 2 caches in the series done - 2 to go! Thanks Yurt.
Damo and I had trouble locating the path from #1 to #2, so we tackled #3 first and then drove around to the north to find an easier path in. I recall walking along here to DNF the now archived Washing Machine cache. That was my first encounter with leeches in Sydney. Oh how things have changed. Once we arrived at GZ, I noticed another critter eager to attach itself to me. Flick! The cache itself was found after a little fosicking. Dropped off a TB, solved the puzzle and headed on our way.
Picked up this one as the third in the series after a drive to a different access point as we couldn't locate the track between #1 & #3 and this one. Great walk through the valley and some very impressive rock formations.
Thanks Yurt.
Thanks Yurt.
Made my way around from “The Deadly tree” this sure is a nice area for bush walking and obviously some caches as well. The cache took a little time to locate mainly due to the reluctance to clear out the spider webs. Fortunately I found the short way out (Benowie walking track) saving considerable time rather than going back along the Great North Walk track. TFTC
Approached cache from the north after coming down the great north walk from up at quarter sessions road, spotting some beautiful flannel flowers and others along the way. Made our way through the prickly-plants-of-doom to reach GZ. As with HHV#1, I'd actually looked in the exact hiding spot the last time I was here, but just not thoroughly enough XD *seething frustration* Retrieved the cache, signed log book and had a good long sit down on the rocks with the spectacular valley view - making this my favourite of the HHV series so far ^_^
Now to just decypher the clues and perhaps dad and I can tackle HHV#4 next weekend ;p
TFTC Yurt!

Magnificient ... albeit, only after catching breath after full day of all 3 x HHV's of almost commando raid activity with determined daughter ..... bingo ..... there was the "cave" at GZ. OK .... "you go in" .... mandatory mini-torch (or "flashlight") in mouth and gloves on hand (evicted the spider webs per "Robert the Bruce" of Scotland legend ... sorry, spiders) ...... ah, ha ... found it. TFTC. Now to find mystery HHV??????
I made my way from #1 to the spot Yurt said I would find the track to #2 and after a bit of confusion and another TXT message I managed to find the right spot. The walk between these two was lovely and the transition from one type of forest to another was quite sudden and unexpected.
I must admit that I was tempted to go straight up from the 30 metre point below, but I was a bit worried about snakes so I put my faith in Yurt's instructions and kept following the path ending up about 120 metres away from GZ on the other side of the hill. Then up and back over behind the houses to GZ. Some pretty impressive places there, but I hope they have their fire evacuation plans in place and LOTS of insurance!
When I got to the pit I saw the ammo can sitting right out in the open, lid unattached but contents all OK. Notified Yurt, but was able to reattach the lid of the ammo can and re-hide where he said it was supposed to be. Very strange.
Now back down to the fire trail and on to #3.
Thanks again Yurt.

Now that the football season is over for my son, we are both free to do a little more of what we want, I have been keen to get back up here and have a go at this cache, grab the numbers so that I can mull over the puzzle for a little while.
That's done now though, I guess it won't be long before I'm back up here for the final, before coming to this cache I was careful not to wear trousers as I did not want them soaking wet as I made my way through the wet under growth, they also help to hide slimy creatures that might want some of my blood Now I've been up this track from Valley Rd below many many times before, as my cousin lives very close by and we bush walk here regularly, despite this I still tried to take a short cut track straight up the side of the hill through the braken, it's much steeper but cuts out about 200 metres of up hill, and is a track in it's own right not a bush bash.
When we intersected the main track at the top I noticed one of those said slimy critters on my shoe, then another, then another, all told I pulled about 20 leaches from my boots and socks some larger than others most quite small, my Geoson joined me at the rock and due to his slow going up the hill had copped twice as many leaches as me, he had them everywhere, I have never seen so many of the buggers in my life before.
I usually wear "OFF" before enduring a walk such as this but due to the rain thought it was a waste of time, big mistake! Anyway it just slowed our going down a bit as we had to make regular stops to check for them, eventually got the cache the numbers and returned it to it's hidey hole. TNLN except a photo of the info. Beaut spot I've always enjoyed this part of the world, just a shame about the critters, avoid the area until it dries out a bit and wear some anti critter lotion would be my advice to those that follow.
Thanks for the cache Yurt

with only 6 geocache that ive found that one was probably the best.

As I've said elsewhere there is NO need to bushbash uphill to this cache. You make it a lot harder and destroy the bush.
Found on a warm and very windy Thursday noon by Nanny and Bo.
We bush bashed the last 100 metres up hill. What dedication!
Left an unactvated Geocoin (without a tracking number) and took a book.
