#4174 What a great day out giving the new e-bike its first official test run. OMG, should have done this years ago. Once up near the tanks I homed in on GZ and the cache was soon located. Thanks Tankengine for getting me out and about.
A cool and drizzly afternoon, but perfect weather for a solo ride and walk around Pierces Creek forest.
This cache was a straightforward find at GZ - thanks, Tankengine.
I couldn't locate evidence the previous person to log this in 2022 had signed the log.

Barely made it up here in the 4wd! Nice views, and very nicely designed and camoflauged cache.
A plan has been hatching for a trip to Pipeline Road for a while now - will I won’t I and when - so with a couple of new caches out in the area it was all systems go. Just had to wait for daylight! And then they were gone.
Oh well, did Pipeline Road instead and then came back around for some more. Parked low, walked high, and was rewarded with a lovely sunset.
Grateful thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining the caches that continue to entertain me on my caching journey.

Tankengine, Aquilus1 and I came out to do a little caching maintenance and pick up a few others that were close by.
This cache: Helped with the maintenance on this one. We walked up from the bottom, as the road was just too rough and tough for us. Great views at the top though and it wasn’t that bad a walk. Tftc Tankengine!!!

After a morning of dragging coir logs into position and then building a wall trump would be proud of with them, with dty73 and Tankengine it was out in this area for a little TE cache maintenance, an explore and to get a few caches while here.
Lovely day to get out and its such a peaceful pretty area, well... peaceful but for the moments the motorbikes were racing about the place!
A little TLC needed here so after watching a car come down and hearing it scrape the rocks, lots of rocks, we decided to walk up! Wasn't so bad to get up and plenty of evidence of the damage the other car did as it drove. After the cache was taken care of and the new log signed it was off for an explore which was a lovely walk and good to get out and see this lovely area which was very wet in places from the recent rain.
Thanks for the cache and the day TE!

Awesome spot! It was interesting to see people still living nearby, but luckily they didn't seem to mind us here. Took the opportunity before finding the cache to venture to the top of the tower. The tank is empty but you can't take away those views! Tftc
At some point last night I decided it would be nice to find an unloved cache, not too far from home, to bring some love to. As it turned out, I found five with a total of 2219 days of being unloved between them, ranging from 357 days to 723 days. All were pretty easy to get to, despite the blackberries (one was actually really quite hard, but that was down to me picking the hardest possible way to get to it).
A great way to spend a beautiful spring. It would have helped if I remembered a pen of course! One of the caches had a pencil. For the rest I found pieces of charcoal and made something that looked vaguely like my name and the date. All caches were found in place and in good condition and all seemed to perk up a bit after getting some love.
(More to come, by way of individualising for each cache, soon).

Decided to head out on a great morning to find some caches in the Cotter area. TFTC
Cache #9 and the final one for the day with Loci612! Another unloved one to find as well, to make for a great day of adventuring, including finding 4 FTF's
Last cache for the day! After an awesome morning of driving around many dirt trails in my old 1991 Ford Laser, and grabbing 4 FTF's while at it we decided to head home after one more adventure.
We DNF'd a cache nearby so decided to come grab this one instead. Was a little bit harder to get to GZ than the other one but we managed it eventually and started searching!
You can tell that this is an older Tankengine hide! A very strange container to see hidden by him, and also in a very strange manner! Maybe I should of stopped looking for a typical Tankengine hide, and started looking for a typical "anyone else" hide and I would of spotted it quicker!
Thanks for the cache, a really neat location here! Attached a pic taken from nearby of the pump.

Sunday 24 September 2017 - a beautiful sunny Spring day with blustery winds in the open higher areas. We came back this weekend to complete a multi not finished last weekend as well as others for which we had ran out of time. Walked over 7km for about 3 hrs to find 4 from 4 caches (3 trads, 1 multi).
Interesting to see such a large tank high up on what appears to be a flimsy stand. Also good to see the infrustructure to maintain this area including a boat no doubt for use to maintain/manage the dam. Thx p2p. TFTC Tankengine.

Found on a windy, wet and cold day. Got as close as you get by car, legged the last 400m on foot..in the rain. TNLNSL TFTC
Fun trying to find an access road without a locked gate! Managed to get into the area and parked just before the steep hill and walked the rest of the way.
Nice views up here (and phone reception).
Thanks

I spotted a new cache during the afternoon, and a plan came together for my evening to collect the caches between the Cotter Dam and Paddy's River Road. I managed to find some dirt roads that took me within striking distance, then jumped on the bike for an hour and a half of sight seeing and picking up all 6 caches. I saw a total of 8 emus and of course many kangaroos - a GoPro would have been good to have to capture them crossing the road in front of me. Initially I was on the wrong side of the fence. Easily found after relocating. Another interesting spot to come to. TFTC.

A nice day for a walk. Spent a few hours walking around south of Cotter Dam for three caches. Parked at Settlement Road gate, some cars drove past me but with a no entry sign and the possibility of it being locked on my return, (and it was a beautiful day,) I walked. TFTC.
Great sized cache! Got asked by a muggle what I was doing... Said gc... They said ahh say no more!
I was working at Pierces Creek today so checked for caches in the area - this one was just 300m away - perfect for a quick lunchtime stroll. The hide wasn't quite where I was expecting, so had to contend with a fence 20m from gz but after that hurdle an easy find was made. Thanks, Tankengine
Drove as close as I could. Car wasn't up for 4wd. Nice view from up here. TFTC Tankengine.
Today we explored Pierces Creek State Forest collecting so more caches in the area, enjoyed the scenery and the back roads, using geocaching as a guide, a nice 4x4 trek to the top.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Deciding to take the geo-truck for a caching 4wd adventure today with allrounder and Shadow! We made this the second find on the way into the tracks I was looking forward to doing. The weather was perfect for a day out in the scrub.

Was driving past, so fixed this up. Logbook was soaked, so replaced with new dry waterproof logsheet.
This cache is in need of owner maintenance. The log is soaked. We did our best to write on it. More an impression in the paper than writing. TFTC Tankengine.
We decided not to drive too close but walk a bit instead. Once we found a path through the blackberries we really enjoyed our lovely walk on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Nice area.
Unfortunately the cache is wet - the log book is damp.

I need new maps on my phone, closest road shown was a steep 250m walk away! But nice views thanks.

took a gentle romp in the new Geomobile, but not too demanding. Drive to GZ and a great view! TFTC
1977. Another drive by while in this neck of the woods. The hilux and I made it all the way to the top. It was then a quick find and then time to take in some great views. The log book was a little damp, but I managed to leave my mark without any dramas. Thanks TE for the cache.
Headed out with mnjontour today for some Cotter caching . We wanted to check out the area before the water started filling up behind the massive new dam and get some "before shot" of the area. We drove to the bottom and decided to walk to what was our first cache of the day. After one hill and fence climb we were at GZ and made a nice find. The container and logbook were a bit damp and we tried to dry it out as best we could and soon put our marks in it.
Good to tick another Tankengine cache off and it was on to our next target.

Only two smilies and a DNF but a great and memorable day caching out at the back of the Cotter. Set out early afternoon with the Stormcatchers (who's name would come to fruition later in the day . This was the first smiley, easy, just a short stroll up the hill and the cache was soon in hand. Now off to The Perfect View of Folly, things were about to get interesting? TFTC Tankengine
Found myself on the wrong side of the fence. Getting a lot of practice climbing barbed wire fences lately. TFTC
We finished our picnic and headed up the hill to this one. Will our car make it up here??? With Mr Geo_junkies at the wheel we headed up.
At one point we had all four wheels on the Territory loosing traction!!! Oh dear! We finally made it to the top only to find an alternate way up. The bottom gate was locked though and we could not access that road.
GeoKid Snr made the find and again saw some space badges. Once some swaps were performed, log duties complete, we were all back in the car ready for our decent.
Mr Geo_junkies actually commented on the way done- it is much steeper than he first realised! The car made it down without too much trouble.
We really did enjoy the lovely drive this morning and will be back out this way soon- we have some unfinished business out here....
TFTC again TE.

I'm sure I've found a cache up here beforehand?
Views just as good as my last visit. I wonder if all the kids from the settlement came up here to watch the view as well.
Cache really damp. Did my best to dry it out in the sun. I also swapped out all the wet swaps. Put log into a new bag as well.
Thanks for the find TS.

Yay, found the way up!
Decided to get this one after training, and drove around until I found the road.
I even have phone reception! So I can log it. Now I need to figure out where I can turn around in the dark! Maybe I will look at the night sky for a little linger before I tackle that.
The log book is rather damp, it might need some care.

A quick grab as the colder evening wind started to blow in. Signed log: TNGD. TFTC!
We were in Tidbinbilla today again for a Ranger's bush tucker feed. I tell you possum is really not worth tasting.
We were done early enough and Dino and Pebbles were keen on some caching (now they have their own new pathtags ) so I though I try this forest close to the cotter dam on the way home. I knew it might be harder to get to all given the new catchment but it turned out alright. This one was first and we came in via the dam construction side access road. Quick find. Container a bit wet inside but logbook still ok even though it was in the much wetter zip lock bag. SL. Thanks for the cache TE.

What a lovely place, wonderful views and so quiet. Well until ju and I got there any way.
This one may have moved since Mr Roo and jusojara found it. Ju and I found it while Ja and Mr Roo made there way back to us.
The log was swimming in water, Ju and I emptied it out as best we could.

Out for a drive in the countryside with Black Bunny and Just a cacher.
Last cache for the day. A bit of a walk from where the van could get, but great views. Cache was simple to spot.

Vicky the van wasn't all that enthusiastic about this one, so I got out and walked.
When I got to the area, the cache was immediately visible due to a red pencil, dropped right near the cache.
I have put the pencil inside the cache. However, the log was wet, and I did not have a replacement with me, so I just used a felt tipped pen to sign it. The whole thing smelled a little musty, so I would recommend a new log book.
Thanks for the walk and the view, Tankengine!

Interesting spot. Ended up on the wrong side of the fence which required a little undignified crawling to rectify. Once at GZ the cache was quickly to hand. TFTC
Apart from chasing a big snake off the road on the way through Piece it was not not evrn a blackberry hunt o get. Not quiet place to be on a Friday afternoon. Thanks.

Drove all the way to this one. There were several morot bike screaming around in the neighbouring property.
Picked up this one on a Cotter caching trip with Jmanjezza. Interesting views and lots of motorbikes for some reason.
Wasn't expecting a house this close to the road. Nevertheless an easy find early on a day spent getting 'saturate'-d in more ways than one.
(8:33 AM) After a cache maintenance run nearby this was my first find of the day although I had been here yesterday doing a reconnoitre. Went up to admire the windmill and noticed you can still climb up to the top. I was tempted but thought getter of it. The following the arrow found we were on the wrong side of the fence. After that it was a quick find. The log book was extremely wet and I embossed, more than signed it.
There certainly is a profusion of tracks out here, some of which are on our GPS maps and some which are not. And there's no way of telling which are which - are we on the right track or do we turn out to be on another nearby, that may or may not meet up. Anyway, we veered in here after Saturate and Pierces Picnic, but felt pretty uncomfortable while here. Perhaps we weren't in full view of the house, but just as we arrived two trail bike riders rode up and circled the car a couple of times, rode away and came back again. Then they disappeared, and we made a quick find then out of there! Thanks Tankengine.
Had to sit in the car and wait for a heavy downpour and hail to pass before grabbing this, and then I decided to walk in. Only took 10 minutes and the cache was in hand. Sat for a minute of two then headed back down to the car.
Another interesting area that I've visited today.
Thanks Tankengine.

Reperio at 1230. Man! I would love to say this one was a nice simple cache to get to and find, but I would be lying Decided to get the MTB out for a bit of a ride, so headed off in the direction of GZ. All was looking good until I got to within 300m and the track started to veer away. Decided to stick with it and the track ended up being within 150m of Norkmeister's cache. Decided to head off a look for that first, and after a few minutes there, I see a ranger's truck coming along the old path I thought no one would ever use...unfortunately I had left my bike right at the junction where they would drive out. Raced back over logs and shrub and got there just as the ranger was blowing his horn trying to find out who on earth was here and left their bike. Had a quick chat, before deciding to head back to the nearby cache. I look down at my tire and see faint water droplets bubbling out of one of my tire valves.....Crap...the air is leaking out. Forced with having to walk back to where I left my car (approx 2kms away), I left N's cache and headed in the direction of this one. Luckily the track I was on lead straight to it, and eventually I got to GZ where the cache was found. Boy...talk about making things harder than they should be.
Gratias TE.

An early morning rise to get a few caches before having to be home by 9.15am. This was my second find of the day. Parked the car at the bottom not knowing whether my 2 wheel drive would have made it up the hill. It may have but the walk did me good. Cache found with a tiny little bit of water in the bottom. Dried it out and log book was bone dry in its bag. TNLN Thanks for the cache!
After finding the sister cache to this one, mr_roo and I continued up to this one although after walking up to this one from below I think we could have made it a drive-by.
The cache had some water in it but the log was dry. We drained the cache and dried it's contents as much as we could before replacing it. Thanks TE for the cache.

Dont think me and jusojara made the right way to this cache. Parked down the bottom from the cache and made out way through blackberries and a swamp due to all the rain we have had. Dont know which one was worse the swamp or the blackberries. At gz we made a easy find. Though the cache did have a tiny little bit of water in it. Nice area for a cache
Found just before the weather turned to custard. Wondered for a second whether I was on private property, with all the fences about. Great views in anycase
Found with SecretSquirrel-BJC.
One of 26 caches found today. Enjoyed the drive around this circuit.

Interesting historical location with some views
BTW - the cache container was very damp inside - it is that type of container with the lid fitting INside the body.

Woot *FTF* - 2nd FTF for the morning
After our success at Pierces Picnic, we figured, why the heck not go for the duo??? AS we rocked up here we were priveleged to watch a huge eagle take off in disgust at our appearance! A truly inspiring sight - and the views weren't bad either!!
Thanks TE, again.

Missed it by that much, actually by 3 hours but almost a FTF. Started raining on my way there which made things more fun.

Coin drop. Also, I must apologise… I was going to post these two caches last night along with the Vanity ones, but after a long days caching, and then out visiting friends, it was very late, and my eyes were literally falling shut trying to type, so I had to wait until tonight!
