Travelling down to Melbourne from Gold Coast and picking a few up that I need for Ausmer glory. This leaves me with four to go. Regardless of that this is another one of the most beautiful tranquil places. I am so so glad to come here and experience it. FPI AM GUR THE SKITZ CACHER
There's been a lot of water over this location in the 21 months since the log was last signed. However nice and low today so after many attempts I was actually able to walk to GZ without getting damp!
Unfortunately, possibly too much water - at GZ I found the attachment cable in the expected locartion but not the cache container, which I suspect has detached itself and floated down the Molonglo, then the Murrumbidgee, and finally the Murray.
Another casualty of La Nina; photos of the remains sent to CO.

The CO has kindly allowed me to log this as found after providing evidence of the cache remains.
A spectacular spot here nonetheless - thanks, Tankengine!

Out for a little walk with the geokids today. Realised there was one last cache up around here that hadn't been captured. Was a little worried with the water so high, but was quickly found with no hassle. TFTC TE, this series was a fun one.
This is an awesome spot! Had a bit of trouble finding at first, but when I went on to the other bank I spotted it! Thanks tankengine!!
This caches has been long on my to-do-list. What a great spot, no wonder a cache was put our here to early on in the game. A very nice rock hoping and soon the caches was spied. Thank you TE for maintaining this cache all these years so that we still get to enjoy it! A big FAVpoint for that.
The hike:
A hike with Wilma and Dino and the aunt. Between these rivers always looked nice having seen some of the landscape from Shepards Lookout and I certainly encouraged it as I had lots of caches to find here. What I didn't relaize was how many of these where from the CO, in fact all of them were!. Even better. MIssed out on three in the area so will need to be back some time. We found some really nice spots, not least due to the GZs we visited but the hike itself was not as beautiful as Wilma had hoped.
Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Far easier find here than at the mine! I followed the dry riverbed upstream to find a most joyous cache with a new logbook and some mild climbing required! ? TFTC!
We knew were GZ was from having seen it on the other side. When we arrived, a muggle couple with a dog were nearby. I was able to get to GZ and surreptitiously grab the goods/pretend to take photos. After it was signed, there was a more concealed way to access the cache... ooops.
Brand new shiny cache! Unfortunately I didn't have a pen on me but I did try to scratch my imprinton the log and left my calling card. Beautiful spot on the rushing water
Came by this way for a maintenance run with dty73. Yep - the cache was missing! It has now been replaced! Good to go!
I hate to concede defeat but there is a great deal of debris in and around the tree and I spent a long time searching and climbing to no avail. It may still be there and I can’t see it, or it could be gone.....
Long walk down and even longer going back. Found a bridge we could have used and saved the climb. Needed this cache to fill a gap in a challenge to find old caches, this is one of the oldest in the country. Thanks for keeping it alive.
Well, we did, but the signing and replacing of the log was not for two octos! TravelGran touched it with her stick - I was more inclined to pelt rocks at it!! Ha ha. No birds here but us and no we feet required. Thanks for the challenge even though I feel a total failure (not).
Oh sadly we have to log a "sad" face, finding out how good my balance was as I tiptoed across the rocks! We knew we had the correct tree, just took a little while to locate the cache, which I did touch with my stick. Silvereyes did try, got half way. Whilst having lunch at the planks, we encountered a young man, oh if only we had passed him on the track, he would have been of use to us!! The yellow flowers are in full bloom, so pretty, also the river was running quite fast at this cache, tftc.
Parked the car at uriarra recreation area on the other side of the river to do the uriarra loop walk. This required us to find a way over the river, which meant taking the shoes off and wadding over the river. Slight challenge. Most caches easy to find with some bush bashing. No bird here. Tftc
It was finally time to attend an interstate Mega event and this was my final day here got up bright and early to do a couple of hill climbs and bush walks and river walks to find a couple I ran out of time on a couple of years ago when we were last here. I also wanted to find a couple of old ones to help qualify for a challenge I collected yesterday.
This was the main reason to come down here and glad is wasn't flooded. Managed to make the find and wander back to the car in this beautiful location. A favourite from me.
Thanks GreyHams for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Great walk signed dsd or DARKSIDEDAN depending on the size of the cache thanks for the cache and the adventure
Quick and easy find and climb. Beautiful location. Thanx for showing us this place. No feet got wet. Completed for jasmer.

This cache was found easy enough after arriving at GZ. In Canberra attending Mega event. A nice stroll to the cache and the river looked very pretty at this time of year.
Thanks for the cache.

Found it, climbed, signed and back on terra firms - and I’m 75 years old. Thanks Tankengine - always a delight to find. One of yours
A nice morning to get out and find some caches. Nice a peaceful down here. TFTC
Joolay and I came out to grab this old cache today. Beaut day for it with the river level low. Tricky getting the container out of the container. Found cache in good condition. FP from me. TFTC
Set out today with Kittykatch to get this old cache. It was on my Jasmer and now it’s not. Lovely day for a walk and while we struggled to access the inner part we eventually had it in hand. Great the river was down as it was dry walking all the way.

Another great spot. Cache too high for me to reach, so had to climb a little. Managed to reach and balance while signing.
Thanks,

Third leg of a caching adventure with Noikmeister. We did about 20kms today - up one side of one river and then up another side of a different river.
Well I wasn't going home without logging this was one. It was a little outside my comfort zone but with (quite a bit) of encouragement from NM I inched my way towards GZ. I could touch it but needed two hands to open it. So I hauled myself over onto a a solid footing (with more coaxing from NM) and felt quite secure for a minute or two, but I was very worried I'd drop the container.
I struggled to get the darn thing open. The screw is threaded, so you might want to check on it sometime,TE.
Sliding back out again was not as difficult as I was expecting. And I left GZ feeling exhilerated.
Thanks for the cache, Tankengine and for keeping this oldie going.

I came out here to grab a few caches and get a bit of exercise. I had a slight detour to pick up a newly published cache on the way.
This cache has been on my to do list for a while since it's both one of the oldest caches in ACT (and thus one I need to find for the Old School Challenge) and a hidden month that I hadn't yet found.
I got to GZ and spotted the cache. Then I spent a little time figuring out the safest way to get to it. After getting to it, I found that the lid was rather stiff. I did manage to get it open eventually, but it took some effort.

Container seems to be holding up OK. - I will check it out next time I am out that way, but in the meantime - Cache-ON!
Found on a day trip to Canberra with Muppet95. We did a few 'old school' caches and a few Letterboxes in between. All caches were found in good condition. TFTC Canberra!
I had no previous intention of voluntarily attempting my Jasmer Grid. That was until a Jasmer Challenge cache was published close to home – so I now have little choice but to work on it. Looking through my statistics I realised I didn’t have too many unique months of the grid to fill in, but it was going to be a real pain in the neck to work on.
Since then I have come to realise that there is something slightly special about completing caches Pre-2005. “Old School” caches have a certain level of historical value within the geocaching community. It was my observation that these caches that have withstood the test of time are either difficult to interpret, hidden in places that wouldn’t get many visitors, or the coordinates are off significantly. Regardless, some of the caches have been reasonably rewarding to find. Thanks to all the respective Original Cache Owners - and Current Cache Guardians (if any) – for maintaining these special gems.
13th July, 2018 - Canberra, ACT.
I had to be down in Canberra for family commitments in the afternoon. This meant that I could spend the daytime caching! There were only 5 caches that filled unique months for my Jasmer grid, so they were the 'must do' caches for the day. Along the trip, I picked off 2 other caches that worked towards other statistics.
This was the fifth of the day. I parked up at the stile and made my way down the farmland. The water crossing was quite serene. I was at GZ before I knew it. The cache was easily located, signed and replaced. Thanks for the meander.

Found with kralcm. Awesome location. Difficulties getting the log out of the cache. But otherwise fine. Thank you.
This was the second main goal of today's walks! One of Canberra's oldest caches! One of Six that currently still remain and were hidden in 2001!
I decided to scroll through the history of the logs out of curiosity and noticed that this wasn't even originally a Tankengine hide! [:o] It is rare to see Tankengine adopt a cache! I wonder if you changed the name of it to fit your naming convention? Or maybe the original name started your idea? Hmmm.... either way a HUGE thanks for keeping this cache going for as long as you have, good to see one of Canberra's oldest maintained by such an active player!
A great walk down to here today, lucky the river is quite low at the moment which meant getting to GZ was a walk in the park!
Soon spotted the container after a few minutes and made the climb up to it.
It looks like the thread is broken on the container And it doesn't close properly (and is very hard too), however luckily the container inside has protected the contents for now...
A great location and find, thanks again Tankengine!

You might just want to assess the container, the thread doesn't seem to screw very well?
I don't think it was just me as it was half open when I found it too, and after 5 minutes of trying to get the lid back on I also had to settle with it looking like it was only half done.
Apart from that the cache is all good and the contents are fine, the outer container just doesn't do up properly

The geofamily decided to spend the morning of Anzac day as far as possible from the nationalistic feverish orgy that Anzac day has become.
Of course we got to enjoy some the 'country blokes in utes' on the way, I do love how 100km/h in windy single lane roads is just not enough for them. I guess they feel that if they do have a head on, they will likely crush the small sedans coming the other way, so they will be ok.
ok, rant over!
This cache was the main target for today, I am trying to clear up all the oldies. Ahah, now I remember the mega bison with Tankengine written on the side, and the specimen container within was equally recognisable, but it was a right bugger to get out, especially with me balancing precariously. Very happy to get it signed and returned.

I took so many beautiful photos at GZ and along the river. Photo is not a spoiler Thanks for the beautiful spot to visit.
Along with BeckNmonts, we found this cache on our journey to the Ozgeomuster 2018.

Casadella and myself decided to go for a quick mid afternoon walk today. We found these caches along the way. Each location was great, and the coordinates good. But the big question is, why are we yet to see John Howard on his morning power walk? Isn’t that why you come to Canberra? Or is it for Geocaching? TFTC Tankengine
Genghicat and I set out today for a nice easy walk on flat ground. Somehow we ended up here headed for a lot of stairs. What a fun. Found in good condition quickly.

7 of 7. Woo. Liked this ones spot. Slightly hard to reach at the moment due to the recent floods, but that’s half the fun of it. TFTC
Fourth on way down to Uriarra. Had not long finished raining so was very careful on a slippery branch but cache soon in hand and logged. TFTC
Out South for work on a fantastic Friday afternoon. What better reason then to hang this side of town and wander along the Molonglo River and surrounds. TNLNSL TFTC
I wanted to get a few on this side of the river from Shepherds Lookout. Took about 40 mins to walk down, then start my search. This was the first of three finds from three and a bit searches.
You can see where the water gets to, so glad to try this before there was any rain or water released from upstream. Once at GZ I put down superfluous gear and retrieved the cache. TFTC, Tankengine.

Oh what a difference timing makes! Today there was no raging torrent of water. In fact, it was an easy stroll to GZ and we quickly had the cache in hand. Hard to image the volume of water rushing past previously. I'm glad we waited, in hindsight. But it's good to finally have this one ticked off. Thanks Tankengine
Been here before way back in 2010 although approached from the other side of the river that time. Today's approach was so much easier. The water on the eastern side of the cache was frozen solid so we had a lot of fun throwing pebbles onto the river and watching them just skate along the top of the ice. Then the bigger rocks came out.... the ice was thick but it was no match for DogBoyOz!
Found at 12:41:00 PM with BatGirlandCo, DogBoyOz and Takibi
Wow! Good to finally clear out my own old school challenge with this one. However the name should be Molonglo Meander, since the Murrimbidge is a few hundred metres away. There was a large pool of thick ice near here and it was the highlight of the day for DogBoyOz.
Thanks Tankengine

Decided while in the area to cross over the planks and see about the two remaining caches on this side. Enjoyed walking through the area and a nice spot down here. Feet stayed dry and another interesting but fun cache placement, thanks for the cache Tankengine!
Aquilus1 and I were in the area picking up a few more caches. We parked on Uriarra Road and came down the steep hill to Passover Planks then followed the path to here - and I'm so glad we did! It is much easier to come in from that side than from Stockdill Road. This cache was an easy climb to grab and sign and the area around here is so nice to be meandering in. Tftc Tankengine!!!
From the nearby mune cache we took a obvious easier way back to the trail via this cache. There was not much water, so it was easy find.
Yay! Found with TikvaNZ and AngelG27. Another "Golden Oldie", which has survived several cache-threatening events.
It was a perfect afternoon for a walk. I had a sore foot. AngelG27, TikvaNZ and I moved at a slow but steady pace towards the cache.
At GZ I saw the cache first but TikvaNZ got to it before I did.
Thx TE!

When AngelG27 proposed a Saturday afternoon excursion to find this one, I jumped at the chance. ZQX and I had failed to find it nearly a year ago following some flooding. This afternoon I picked up ZQX, then AngelG27 and we headed out to the beginning of the Shepherd's Lookout Walking Track. It was a beautiful autumn day for a walk. Once at GZ, the cache was quickly found and retrieved, and then we collected another couple of nearby caches before returning the way we came. TFTC. (I'd carried those snakes all the way down to the cache and back up again forgetting they were in my bag, until I got back to the car!)

Went on a Saturday afternoon geocaching mission with ZQX and TikvaNZ to grab a few caches out past Holt, with one cache in particular of interest. We parked up top and walked down to the river gathering caches as we went and then a slow and steady walk back up. Gorgeous day for a meander along side the river. Thanks ZQX and TikvaNZ for the company (and TNZ for the surprise snakes back at the car)!
Fourth cache for the afternoon and the prize we were all after. ZQX was glad to see that the water level was down and so we reached the cache with dry feet. TikvaNZ managed to do the finding thing! Another nice DT and cache for my JASMER grid done! Now to find some gold, thanks TE!

Needed this to complete my 10 ACT 2002 caches for the Old School Challenge. Up early, drove across town, parked in the carpark just off the main road, then ran along track. Quite fresh with fog all around. Found cache quickly and signed. Took a bit longer to go back up the hill. TFTC TE
This was fun to find! My first find of the day with BurgAndSons, had a great walk along the river.
Monday 17 April 2017 (public holiday for Easter Monday) - another glorious sunny Autumn afternoon in the low twenties with a summery-like haze in the distance. Found 6 from 8 caches after a great bike ride and brisk short 3.7km walk around the hilly grasslands. Quick and easy find. Thx p2p. TFTC Tankengine.
Found with Decrypter. We were out in this area for a walk. I didn't have this one on my GPS so I had to rely on D's. Lots of grasshoppers hopping and flying in front of us as we made our way. We also saw lots of dragonflies and damselflies. Once at GZ, D read the hint and soon had CIH. TFTC
Ok ... had a doctors appointment in the morning, then figured I needed some geocaching therapy
So I decided, on the spur of the moment, that seeing I had walking boots and long trousers and hat/water/etc in the car - I might just head over to Shepherds lookout car park and come for a walk to find another cache or 2 in this area. Headed off to the lookout for the obligatory photo stop, and on down toward the river ... and realis d that I had all the things I needed except one - I had not been home/anywhere and had lunch and I didn't have any food! but the solution to that problem was down around the corner - nice lush green bushes with a good crop of yummy ripe blackberries (I kind of knew there would be blackberry bushes - I was looking for a Tankengine cache, after all
I decided to go find the one that had been missing last time and was now replaced (this one and then decided it was a nice day to wade across the river so I headed down and across and found Murrumbidgee Mine as well ... then crossed the river again and picked and ate some more blackberries there (and picked some and put them in a ziplock bag and took them home for later), then I went in for a swim in the river to cool down (and because I was half wet anyway) and then noticed I didn't have a lot of time before I was meant to be heading home to shower and go to a meeting, so I scrambled rather quickly up the 45degree slope (definitely a good workout!) and made it back to the car in time to drive home, have a quick shower, and get to the meeting just in time
TFTC - much easier to find when it is actually there
And oddly enough, I actually had some on and off phone reception down near this cache ... lol

This was such a lovely walk, although we were mindful to keep an eye out for an slithery things on this warm sunny summer day. Our pathway was dotted with grasshoppers who jumped a few metres ahead of us, in acknowledgement of our presence.
At GZ, we could see remnants in the trees from past flooding. The cache was safe and dry and we signed the log with a view to finding one more before heading home.
Thanks Tangengine,

Checked on this today, and although the tree is still there - the cache was indeed gone! Can't believe how high that water gets! Anyways, have placed the cache even higher (now 2.5m above the ground), and fastened it securely. Hopefully that will survive the next flood!
For several weeks I had been promising myself that I would come back here and look for some more caches in this area - a couple I had not looked for yet, and then maybe the one nearby that a few of us had stopped for a quick look for on a walk, but not found ... I was free today, so I decided that today would be good, because even though it was a rather hot day, the forecast (and the sky) looked like it would get cooler in the afternoon as a storm came in ... it did, a few degrees, briefly - then the "storm" didn't eventuate (at least not here) and it got hot again - lol
First I took a short cut down the hill from the track not far past the lookout and came and found the first one, but spent an hour not finding this next one, then kept going over the river and along and found the one I had not found a few weeks back,, then kept going and found another one we hadnt quite walked past to look for, but was "not too far" from the other one ... which was about when my water ran out ... so I headed back over the creek (which was nice to dip my hat in to cool off, but I was not thirsty enough to risk drinking it the other bottle of water I had in the car (which I had meant to also take, but forgotten) was consumed quite quickly when I got back (as was the stubby of beer I opened when I got home - lol)
TFT ... er ... Over an hour of entertaining myself by climbing in, under, over, up, around this area looking for something that is most likely not actually still here - lol
There were lots of places to look, and I am sure I looked in every one, and then some I even climbed and looked 3m up in case the river bed that it was a certain distance above was now over 1m lower - lol ... but alas - all I found were signs that a rather large flood has ripped through this area, and quite possibly taken the cache with it ... that, or it is VERY well hidden - lol
I was hoping that my walk today would turn one Tankengine DNF into 3 Tankengine cache finds ... I guess I did, sort of - I found the one I has not found last time, and - because I kept going along the fence and found another one - I did find 3 Tankengine caches ... Just not THIS one ... sigh ... ah well - another excuse to walk back along here once it is fixed/replaced ... Or someone else actually finds it ... lol

With ZQX's family out of town, and my need to put in lots of kms in preparation for the World Rogaine Champs in a couple of weeks, we hatched a plan for a second caching expedition for the weekend. Our aim was the higher D/T caches near the confluence of the Molonglo and Murrumbidgee rivers. This one proved too elusive, assuming it survived the recent floods.
TikvaNZ and I looked for 30 minutes at GZ and couldn't find it. We climbed up on the fallen trees, we got underneath them, wading in the water. We poked and prodded and put our hands into holes in the trees. Empty handed this time. The silver lining was that we were having a great little adventure, and did find every other cache we looked for today.
A DNF on this one (I should have read the previous log before I ventured out!).
Forever the optimist, I was determined to get this one. While there was what appeared to be a 'path' (via 'stepping/jumping stones' over rapids) to GZ, I was going to give it ago. Got within 9 metres of GZ before the stones ran out. It appears as if the host tree may have suffered during the recent storm and I suspect that the cache may have been surrendered to the river. However...just to be sure, I shall return (just not until the water has had an opportunity to recede!).

Ok so didn't look for this one. We came by and stopped adjacent to the spot the GPS said it was hidden, albeit 20m away. We assessed the likely tree (only three possibles) and were impressed by the force of the flood that had recently come through here about 4m above our heads. Two of the trees had been ripped out and were full of driftwood, and the third, a wiry looking thing, somehow survived. We could have swam across and tried to check to see if the container had survived but we think not. We might check again in a few months when the water is lower - our guess is that if it was in those trees, it is gone!
We headed down from Shepards Lookout, past the Aztec wall to find this cache.
It took a while to find this one as there was a multitude of places to look.

On a previous trip we had looked at finding this old cache but ran out of time. Today was a little different and we headed over. Some great views on the way down. The river was gently today and notwet feet required today to make the find. All good with the hide and its camo. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.
Blarghh... made our way over from the mine only to get within 29m and faced a raging torrent of water thanks to the overnight rain. Not sure if I'm chicken or smart not to have braved it but Pagan said no so yielded to his judgement and we decided to leave it for another day. At least the walk over to this one gave us a better option for reaching the path again rather than climbing back up the 'cliffs' from the mine. 'Til next time!
A terrific Saturday morning walk down from Shepherd's Lookout to visit the river and maybe find some geocaches.
After passing over the Passover Planks and visiting a few GZs on that side of the river, I came back across the Planks and started making my way along the river bank towards this one. I had no idea if I could make it all the way before blackberries or something else blocked my way. About 450 metres from GZ I played a little mental game with myself and decided (based on no evidence, reasoning or logic) that I would get 120 metres from GZ and be blocked. At 119 metres from GZ (seriously) I hit a pile of fallen trees I decided was impassable. Luckily I found a way around them further from the bank and eventually got to 30 or so metres from GZ.
At this point I made a couple of attempts at reaching GZ but fell short. But they put me in position to see a better way. There was plenty of water around after recent rains, so a bit of foot dampening was required. I reached GZ. Now all I had to do was find the appropriate tree. Yeah, right! GZ is not the easiest place to manouevre around but I eventually found the little sucker. Another special Tankengine location. TFTC

River was down this afternoon, so no problem getting across where the cache was found nice and snug. TFTC Tankengine.
I have visitors coming down for Easter, but not until tomorrow, so after a cursory house-clean it was off with my GPSr. I wanted to go somewhere interesting & I thought Uriarra looked like it might fit the bill today.
Well this is more like the adventure I was after. The river was not flowing fast, but I spotted a place not too far from gz with a casurina growing across & thought it was like having a handrail. Luxury ! An easy crossing in the end although my boots are now very wet. I squelched my way to gz and made a pretty quick find. Tftc TE. Great fun.

Found after a bit of searching easy walk to the spot without getting feet wet, TFTC.
Parked nearby 'Passover Planks', crossed the bridge but purposely didn't try to find it, as I was at 497 finds and I wanted this cache to be #498, then the goldmine #499 then the multi 'Murrumbidgee Mouth' to be my 500th find. That plan didn't work out, but you'll see what happened if you read my logs on 'Murrumbidgee Mouth' and 'Passover Planks'.
Anyway! Back onto this cache. Crossed the river easily to the mini island, with the rocks helping us out. I was worried the cache wouldn't be there, as there was lots of flood debris. But spotted the cache quickly, and we thought how we would get across to it. I tried stepping in shallow water, but my shoe got drenched, so that was a no-go. We built a make-shift bridge with logs over to the flood debris, then I clambered over to the cache. I didn't bring the pen... So my grandad waded over to me and gave me the pen, then I came back onto the island. Signed the log, put some trinkets in and my grandad waded over to put it back. A tough little cache! A great Father's Day out with my grandad as well. Our thanks to Tankengine!

#650 and 1st for this walk.
After determining which side to tackle this one from it was smooth sailing from there on out.
After reminiscing along the trial (I seem to remember coming out this way before for a cache), and figuring out which route to take the rough GZ was reached.
Ah, thankfully the river was low so after a quick jump over the rocks we got to 1m accuracy.
Now, to find the cache in all this mess...turned around once, and it was staring me in the face!
Thanks for the cache TE, and the views along the way

No 2 for the morning's jaunt. I had a crack at this one a couple of years ago where I had an epic echidna encounter. GPS was funny that day and I didn't realise I was on the wrong side of the river. All good today and the river was down but it still took me a while to actually extract the blighter from his /her hole. Now to see whether the fisherman had left.
Wow, the views along the path to GZ are spectacular and the river is looking impressive ATM (and pretty impassable) . It was very nice to actually go walking along this trail in the daylight. We never got a chance to do the bridge banter down this way so it was cool to be able to pick this one up instead. The descent was fun and we tried not to think about the ascent to much (which actually was not that bad in the end and slightly easier on the knees)
We couldn't see any possible way to get to the cache without getting our feet wet so it was shoes off time. The tree was now basically an island in the middle of the river with water flowing to the left, right, and below it ! I am sure this tree has seen better days but the cache was still secure in its home. Wiggled it out and then spotted the biggest white tail spider ever on top of the cache, we are beginning to think Tankengine is providing luxury insect accommodation out this way . The cache had a bit of water in it (actually its a bit of a miracle it has survived at all) , so we dried it out and threw our name on a fresh bit of paper.
Another awesome location and a lot of fun getting to it. Thanks Tankengine !

Found on a nice day out this way. WOW! This was a hard one, but a very memorable one too. After getting the answers for Murrumbidgee Mouth and meeting FurfacesLL at WP1, we decided to get this one too. We walked down the hills with ease, but we were worried about the trip back. After a long walk through the grass, we were at the final steps and the river crossing. The bridge is gone, but you can easily get across nearby. Then we just had to do some bush bashing and some rock hopping to get to GZ. We were unsure that the co-ords were correct, but it was quickly found after getting it out of it's hard niche. A fantastic location to visit that we enjoyed a lot. Now, for the long and hard walk back to the car - wow, that was hard. Luckily, we saw FurfacesLL again along the way, nice to chat with you yet again on a nice hot day. TNLNSL. TFTC TE!
We were in the area to collect a few, so we started at lookout and collected the information for another; which we will do when we work out how to get to it. We met up with Toyhunters at the lookout who were also in the area today collecting a few smileys. We started our trek down the path and the hill, conscious that we will need to climb back up. Taking in the views along the way, Toyhunters passed us and confirmed the climb back was as bad as we thought it was going to be. Was nice catch up with some fellow cachers in the wild. But we continued on our way. Rock hopping to the GZ we enjoyed the stop by the waters edge contemplating getting the feet wet. But decided against it, FFLL no 1 was a little leg weary after her big trek around Googong yesterday, so she wasn't looking forward to the climb back to the car. We took an alternate route, as you do, following the fence line back up and surfaced just shy of where we had parked the car. We startled a bike rider in the bushes, who was relieving himself, and who soon took to his bike ride back up the hill while we enjoyed a well earned drink. Thanks for bringing us out to this nice spot Tankengine we had not been here before. We look forward to trekking on the other side of the river another day.
My 2000th cache. As this mark was approaching I was looking for an out of the ordinary cache and my second oldest unfound ACT cache seemed quite appropriate. TaurusSix and I visited a few caches in the late morning to get to 1999, and then headed for this one.
The walk in was nice. Some time ago the official walking track has been washed out about 200m from the cache. We had to follow some improvised tracks. At GZ the task looked daunting. There were so many options. But I made it harder than it should have been. When I saw it it was obvious. Getting it out was a little tricky. Eleven months since the last find and there is only a hint of dampness to the log.
We then spent a little time admiring the views before psyching ourselves for the walk up and out. The cache did not disappoint - a memorable experience was had. Thanks be to Tankengine.

Glad that this cache took Jules and I here during our walk - otherwise we would have missed this nice spot.

1142. I headed down to the river from above and really enjoyed the serenity and views. I managed to get to GZ with dry feet and soon spotted the hide. The log was a little damp, but I managed to leave my mark. Thanks TE for another great adventure and a cache.
This appears to be our oldest unfound cache in the ACT! McPhan invited us out here today for a gentle group walk to tick off a few unfounds out here. A nice sunny day, cool but good for walking. I have previously been deterred from this one due to sightings of snakes mentioned by other cachers, but today's cool temperatures made that unlikely!
We reached the island while remaining dry, but the same cannot be said of the cache. It was profoundly wet inside. There was no way that logbook was going to dry. Quite stinky, and the contents were all ruined too. After drying out the container, we placed several sheets of notebook paper inside. Thanks Tankengine - an interesting place to visit, although after fires and floods and now weeds, this area has seen better days.

5569. [font=Century Gothic][green]As you will have seen by now I am finally able to tick this one off. I was planning what caches to do this weekend that would be difficult to get on a work day and this one popped up with a few around it. Why not? And Mrs W had asked me to let them know when next I decided to try for this one. Today was the day!!!! and we managed to coax a Sol de Lune along as well.
An easy walk down again and glad to see the area was accessible this time. Just to be sure it was I managed to dip my foot in the water while Mr W made the find - again. Sweet joyous moment to tick this off as it was my oldest unfound in the ACT as well.[/green][font=Verdana]
[blue]Thanks for the cache Tankengine and the M&Ms.[/blue]

The final cache in our walk this morning and an easy grab by the Bunny. Cache is very wet.
Thanks for the scenery and the cache Tankengine.
