Up in this area for a few days and having a great time walking and geocaching. We walked the Reotahi coastal walk then climbed up and walked along the ridge back to Little Munroe Bay. A fantastic afternoon - appreciated all around he caches. A quick find here, TFTC
Whilst Tjay and the oldest went to home bay for the tree planting the youngest and I took the small walk around the base of Mt Aubrey. Weather was amazing and our youngest loved being free to explore the track.
This morning, I set out to complete the Mount Aubrey walkway, leaving from the carpark that we'd stayed overnight in the campervan. I spotted this one from a distance as I approached GZ, just as well it's a bit off the track. All good in the container. Tftc!
Wow!! That's some size of container. I very nearly ignored it because of its size .
Heading out to the Heads for a walk on Christmas Day. The impending rain meant I decided against walking up Manaia so I opted for some finds at a lower elevation.Having shed blood for this cache on approach I was very glad to not fall into any trap and spot the likely hide from a good few metres away. My exit from the area was far more straightforward and graceful Thanks SaltyCacheNutZ#4878Logged using Cachly.
Found cache just laying behind the puriri tree, so put it back in it's original & proper location. Will have to return, as the contents are a damp mess & the original fishy log holder is no longer there.
Pipe fish...excellent. Previous finders help with distances. Awesome hide. Thanks hider.
This was our first stop as we begin our adventures on Mt Aubrey today.
It was a little bit of an ominous start, as it was meant to be one of the easier finds, but we spent ages looking where the gps and clues indicated. However, once we'd read a few previous logs, we realized the co ords were out, and the obvious item we'd spotted ages ago, was indeed the cache.
All sorted, now onwards and upwards.
Thanks for putting this here

Quick find before muggles came to sit on the bench. Kids loved providing a distraction by climbing the tree! TFTC
Talk about obvious...I thought it was one of the traps...doh. but once open it was clear. Love the log container within the container. TFTC 2 October 2021 4:20 pm
I had looked for this last time I did the trail around the area, but I'm back today, and when I set my bag down to do a quick circuit, I only noticed the item about a meter away from my bag when I turned back, doh !!... Yay, I can now add this as a smile on my map, cheers
Quite a big one, thought it was poison at first. More like 5 metres then 15. Took about 10 minutes
Great to find this cache and read the local history. Cache is closer to the bench than 15m... more like 5m behind the bench. TFTC
Took a few more minutes than it should have to find this cache as the GPS was pointing somewhere quite different to where I eventually found it. Liked the cache container, all in good shape. TFTC.
Found this one but not where I expected it. Was not where the gps said it was and was closer to the seat than the hint said. The area has had a tidy up with plants being cut down. Nice large container. TFTC
Not really sure about this one.. We have found the concrete blocks, however, didn't find the cache. It's pretty bushy here, and there are two possum traps near the place where it should be. No luck with this cache today.
We spent here about 40 minutes and didn't find the cache. It's look like somebody ,,clean,, the place.
We spent ages looking for this, to us, both before and after going out to the point, but couldn’t home in on the elusive pipe we were searching for. The old concrete structures are incredibly overgrown with prickly trees now, so not a very pleasant place to search in all honesty.
Whoop! Found not by main concrete structures Kids super loved it, thanks for the awesome big cache
Good cache. Great that there are few dotted along this lovely walkway. Fun find.
Found our first geocache! It was kinda hard but it was awesome. It was the third one we tried to find.
A quick find, then a dash back to the car as it was starting to rain. Will be back here when I have more time to have a decent look about. TFTC
Think it has been muggles. Friends coming out this way tonight who have found it before. Will get them to check. Want me to replace Saltycache if it is missing?
Updated cache page.
PLEASE Take Care, especially with your mini/ junior cachers, as it has been reported a possum trap has been laid in the near vicinity of GZ.
Will try to find a suitable spot to re-locate cache when next out that way.
The original log"book" is still there! ( some people just don't take a proper look So someone has also added an unofficial log sheet...

Need to check on cache as many have not found the log ( though it may still be there, but is not immediately obvious ) and to check out details on the new addition of a possum trap nearby.
Found this one on our little exploration round here. I guess a word of warning about the possum traps would be good, especially if you go caching with little kids and they get too excited to have found the “wrong” cache. TFTC
Final cache after a walk up Mount Aubrey. As kathwood2003 weren’t sure if the possum trap was the cache at first. Tftc!
We dodged the possum traps and homed in on the real cache container here. TFTC!
Location awesome choice. No log book or pen that we could see. Great walk very interesting history to the area.
I love this cache ! I'm passionate by fish and it's a nice surprise to have one about pipefish. TFTC
The kids and I came down from Okaihau to the Reotahi snorkel day. We had a great swim and saw lots of little fish in the reserve. I hadn't snorkeled in years and really enjoyed it. We then walked the loop track up to Mt Aubrey starting from Reotahi. It was a long walk but the views were amazing. A great purriri tree at gz and an interesting cache, TFTC
I went in for the cache but after almost putting my face in a spiders web with a big spider on, I retreated. Vminky went in and after a while found the big cache. Had to add some paper as no log book. Tftc
I joined up with hotrodpete this hot summer's afternoon to take a hike around Mt Aubrey and look for the caches around there. I've only been up Mt Aubrey once before, and that was just up and down from the summit, so it was nice to walk the full loop today. Nearing the end of our loop, this was a nice quick find. A nice cache - both the internal and external ones! TFTC!
Found cache with two bags of goodies, but no log I left a small piece of paper as temp log, needs new log thanks for the cache.
A very scenic walkway. The seat was well placed to escape the sun for a few minutes and watch the tugs guide a ship into port. TFTC!
On a geocaching mission over Mt Aubrey and around the coast track to Reotahi this afternoon to see if we could log a few more local caches. Down off the top of Mt Aubrey there was a little less wind and the walk along the coastal track was very pleasant. Although there were a few muggles around on the track we dived into the trees following the GPS directions and the cache was quickly located in it's corner.
Another nice cache to find on the Mt Aubrey loop walk. Clues were good and didn't take to long to find. Finnish Travel Bug uplifted to take to a new home. TFTC
