Today we thought we would do another part of this trail with ilook4geo. There were no misses along this section and we were happy to find this one and add another smiley to the map. Thanks go to wheres wolly for being part of this geocaching trail.
Found today with goingplaces2 to continue the trail we had started a little while back. Log was signed and all was put back into place before we moved on. TFTC.
Checked cache. Thanks to the geocacher that replaced the container! Old container removed.

Another week visiting an ill relative in Port Lincoln. With the only decent day weather wise during our stay we chose to spend the great day seeking more smileys.
Arriving at GZ we considered that the CO might have suffered from dyslexia. Should the cache name be The big "Tip". Seems it is a usual dumping ground for locals.
We first found the cache and thought this one needs some serious TLC so returned to the car to write the log when I read that someone had placed another container with a new log.
Returning to GZ a deeper search was made and the new container found. Signed and returned. TFTC

GoGrandys on 17/05/17 replaced the ruined cache with a smaller one but have left the old one still there, which is acting as a decoy, so look deeper. So thanks to all concerned
Found It!
Odd place. Could do with a CITO event. Or two. I found the cache quickly but the original is ruined so I signed the replacement one.

On my two day trip to Port Lincoln with e.gregory1, we stopped everyone and again to collect some target caches along the way. Majority of the trip was based around collecting puzzles and LGAs. Unfortunately we hit a kangaroo not too far past port wakefield but car is a bit dented.
After arriving into the port this evening we did a quick few on the out skirts.
This cache is in serious trouble and is all broken as my photo

Discovering Port Lincoln cache by cache with Purrfect Di, Sebastbat, and Jack.
Many and varied caches were found and this was one. Some are in good condition, some a little rusty.
A good time had by all.
This one was damaged and damp, despite the Woolies sponsored outer wrapping.
Just looks like more of the rubbish out here, needs some attention. Signed inner log sheet in zip bags.

Well this one is certainly on the beaten bumpy track, cache quickly located but needs some loving. TFTC
Found while visiting the PL area for a while. This has to be the biggest, small I have seen but sadly it was wet with about 1/2" of water in it. I drained and cleaned it out as best I could with what I had on hand and the it started raining again so I quickly replaced the log with a small temp log sealed in 2 zippy bags then wrapped the container in a reusable shopping bag. To give it some protection from the ellements. TFTC.
The cache container was broken, wet and in a mess. We placed a small container with a new log in it. TFTC
Hi there wheres wolly.
We found your cache **"The big pit"** at 12:20:00 PM today. (This makes our find count 15785).
We cached around the Port Lincoln area today. On our trek we found a wide variety of container types. & ended up finding 7 caches with 1 DNF's.
Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

It was a long drive down the bumpy dirt road to reach the big pit
What a bl@@dy mess !!
This area is just a free rubbish dump for locals now.
Hardly a nice place to visit for a cache find.
Oh well .. the cache is still there.

The tin is all rusty and just about rusted shut. Need more suitable container for weather conditions
Just a rusty old tin. Needed my leather man to open. There is supposed to be a wild dear wandering out here it was getting dark and I'm shure I could hear it in the bushes. Something big quick back to the car.
Logged from my phone using the Geocache Navigator by Trimble.Nice easy find on a night trip with Muffy and Co, Eswot and new Cacher Taff00.
Sighted a little youngster riding a quad bike with his dad close behind on a trail bike.

Your young and wild days sounds fun...we both used to ride alot in our Harley Davidsons but not into pits like you Mr Bushies2 went up and found it quite easily. Let our dog out for a run around with his ball for a while just before it started to rain. Thanks wheres wolly for his story about the good old days and cache.
We were glad we did this cache today and not yesterday, the road had dried out so no more mud on the Jeep. When we were young Ian used to ride motorbikes around a big pit like this back home, ah seems like yesterday.
thanks for the memories.
thanks for the memories.
Not so much a big pit as a big scrape. The hire car got us close to gz but I was not making it a drive by. I could see Skippy having a lot of fun here.
It was a bit boggy so we hung back. Saw a few piles but not a pit. I suppose you couldn't call it the big pile. That sounds painful. Clear skies.
Quick find after a short drive.
