I have tried contacting the CO by website and personal email a few months ago, No response. Had 6 other geocachers at GZ today, and couldn't find it.
Geochecker confirmed we had the right area.
Geochecker confirmed we had the right area.
Had been discussing with UncleSamNZ this cache and after a puzzle event cache (surprise surprise) we decided to give this one a good crack.
Arrived at what we believed were the correct co-ordinates and this was then confirmed by the geochecker and even after 5 sets of geocachers (and various other family members) we could not find the cache.
There were some very good locations however it look as if this cache has disappeared which is a real shame as it is an awesome puzzle.
Hopefully Gadet-Tron you can pop in and have a look at this cache for us.

after a puzzle event nearby, we were given sufficient hints to solve this puzzle. We came here with a number of other cachers but even with 11 pairs of eyes searching in what we believed was the right place - and in the surrounding area just in case - we could not locate this cache. Loved the puzzle tho, we now have another technique to use for other puzzle caches as well.
Was over this neck of the woods at a puzzle solving event, and this one came up for discussion... A few teams of cachers went to investigate and geochecker told us we were at GZ.... many sets of eyes, many likely hiding spots and still no joy...
Thanks for the journey though.

Accompanied a few teams of cachers out to find this after a nearby puzzle solving event.
Geochecker had us at the wright spot, but no luck.

USNZ asked me to check on this cache as he couldn't find it and it hasn't been found in 9months. Scratched and dug around but no luck. Needs maintenance.
Hi Gadget-Tron. Just wondering if you would be able to confirm the cache is still there. It hasn't been found in a while. I have been told by previous cachers who have found it, that I have the right location.
Have tried a few times to find it.
Cheers

Figured out the location. But picked wrong time of day to search. Will be back.
We have had a couple of attempts at this one and always been unsuccessful. Took us a while to find the right location (and we ended up getting some assistance from the CO) and then when there, we could never find the cache. We saw the cache had been recently found so thought would give it another go. Went out with UncleBoris and we checked all the likely spots with no luck. Was about to give up again and thought we would have one more dig in a likely spot. Just as about to move on, I saw a sparkle and 'bingo' cache was in hand. It was well hidden!
The log was very very wet and we were just able to sign it without it ripping. Needs to be replaced.
Thanks for this cache. Very glad to have finally ticked this one off the list.

Managed to work out the clues and coords easy enough but on first attempt their was a few too many people at the GZ. I knew today (being Xmas Eve) it would be quiet earlier so attempted this one again on the way home . After five or so minutes searching the cache was found.
Geek Note: I did notice that on my device anyway the final direction was Magnetic not True. Magnetic pointed directly at the location where as True was 15 or so degrees out.
Thanks for a different puzzle cache.

Well... this one has been eating away at us for a looooong time. Firstly it took ages to solve the puzzle completely; then finding the cache took a few visits too (all up over 18 months to complete!)
This afternoon 5YO was at a party and Mum went to collect him after work. They waited for the rest of the party-goers to leave and Mum went to hunt again.
Mum was determined to find it this time - and eventually found it under a lot of leaf litter. Log was a little wet (not surprising after being so long without a find).
She was SO happy, and whooped all the way home. 5YO thought she was bonkers! But the relief and excitement of finding it after so long was incredible!

We solved this one a while ago (thanks to Avoyager!); but could not find the cache.
If someone is in the area who knows where it is, could they check on the cache and assure us it is still there???
Thanks!

aww nutz! I could only remember half of the clue & no internet access....and didn't realise notes, bookmarks & lists disappear when one lets premium membership lapse :`( so many solved puzzles lost...
A friend tipped us off with the possible location of this cache. but... there were many mugglers and couldn't find the hint. Have to come back some other time.
Finally had GZ to myself. Reasonably quick find. Log a bit damp, but could still write on it.
Trout-Fly and ourselves were absolutely determined to locate this cache. After an unsucccessful attempt by ourselves a while ago and I don't know how many attempts Trout-Fly has made this cache finally revealed itself. Busy place on a wet Auckland day so glad of a quick find this time around. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache.
Decided to join forces with Team Welsh to grab some solved puzzles and a few caches that have proved a bit on the troublesome side in the past. Nice day out and success here. It seems that I am finally smarter than a 5 year old... but for how long? Thanks.
Couldn't find this one tonight. Knew i was in the right spot because the geochecker told me so I will come back during daylight to have another go.
Driving you nuts is right! This puzzle has been driving me nuts for some time. I couldn't even work out those aspects of the puzzle that I have appropriate knowledge in. Anyway, have been more actively upskilling by puzzle solving skills lately so gave this another look. I must be improving, as it all fell together nicely this time around. Cache took a few minutes to locate at GZ. It was in the first place I looked, but it was covered with a good layer of silt. Eventually got there by touch. Cheers for the puzzle and the cache!
Nope. I know Im in the right place because the geochecker said so, but still no idea. Had a good look around at all the nesting sights. Another trip to the optometrist is probably needed.
Was nuts to start with, so no great problem to solve. Took a while to find final because for some reason I was looking for something that might contain a hangover cure rather than a North American wild animal

Nutted this out, then found it during a 10km walk that was accompanied with a brilliant sunrise. Quick find at GZ. T4TC.
Nuts! Solved the puzzle and the GPS led us to a very promising looking spot, but couldn't find the cache. Of course wasn't the sort of spot to be lurking in the bushes for a long time.
[twitch]... [dribble]...
No... this cache didn't drive me nuts at all!

Must go... the nice men in white coats are coming... TFTP

Ah-hah! Quick trip out during lunch and victory was ours! Little cache with no coordinates are fun.
Bit of a tricky one and must confess to be driven a bit nutty trying to figure it out. Very nicely themed however and very pleased at the spot on co-ords at GZ. Found a $10 note lying on the ground as I left GZ, was tempted to leave it in the cache for the next finder but couldn't quite squeeze it in, sorry about that

Solved half earlier this week.
It all became clear when I found the right area today.
Great puzzle.

4911 Glad this one didn't drive us nuts... a nicely themed puzzle that didn't present too many problems. Grabbed while in the area for work. TFTC.
This was fun! Two new caches published tonight - an easy traditional and a hard puzzle in the vicinity, but both a fair distance from home. Took a very quick look at the puzzle and managed to solve half of it from home, before shooting out the door to see if I could get the FTF on the traditional (well, and this one too, of course). After finding the other one, left there and stopped by the Howick shops to see if I could nut this one out. One internet search and I had a likely candidate for the other half of the puzzle, so made my way there. It fell into place very quickly from there - didn't bother with the geocheck at first and just proceeded to hunt. After a few minutes decided to give the geocheck a crack to fully confirm I was in the right place, but after two attempts could not get geochecker to agree. Searched for a few more minutes before deciding to give geocheck another go - no.... and then yes, success. Walked straight back to where I started looking and what happens... I find the cache in the *very* first place I had looked - just hadn't looked hard enough the first time. Neat puzzle, very good - satisfying FTF for sure!!! TFTC!!!
