#10694. Reception wasn't great, so we relied on info in the cache description and hint. A quick find, but the log was in poor shape, and could not be signed. We carried on down to the beach and enjoyed exploring the winter. TFTC.
After a leisurely morning coffee, we headed out to explore Devonport, though it took us a few hours to get there as we had a bit of caching to do en route.
Don't think we have been in this area before so admired Takapuna Grammar's lovely old building , then found a park at the end of St Leonards Rd near the start of the walkway. Cache contents went so couldn't sign log book, took photo instead.
Carried on down to have a look at the beach, also we wondered if we could walk from here to the nearby George Gair lookout, but in the end returned to the car and drove. There was a coolish easterly blowing, so we expected that the nudists wouldn't be out in force today, and we were happy to encounter just clothed muggles.
A most interesting beach, well worth a look. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

I went out today with yorkshirekiwi83 for an afternoon of caching around the Hauraki, Bayswater and Devonport area. After walking down the steps to GZ, there were a couple of people taking a break on the nearby seat, so we continued down to the beach to take a look before heading back up the steps and making a quick find of the cache. TFTC!
Vistra and I had planned on being out and about today with it being Earthcache day and we decided to grab others in the area. No rainbows today, and thankfully it was a bit cold for any kind of sunbathing on the beach today, but great location, there were a couple of ladies coming up the stairs when we arrived so had to wait for them to vacate the nearby bench. Quickly found though once there was no muggles around, quickly signed and replaced before the next muggle started up the stairs. TFTC
Holy sweet baby Jesus walked right passed it but got it finally. Paper all wet though needs new paper.
Left Mr a to search for this one whilst I checked out the beach, no "unusual" rainbows ( te he he) . Met Mr a coming down halfway with cache in hand and poo on his shoe. Lucky the steps lead some were because we were able to have a poo cleaning session, but judging by the number of "pipes" emerging form the ciiff one suspects this is not an unusual situation in these parts... What on earth is the gated tunnel.. is it meant for walking or is that more a "grate" to break up the chunks?
Took us ages. My boy came straight here but our inexperience showed. First one ever.
I would love to know how much money was spent on that wall! It's 3m in places. Emperor Hadrian would have been impressed. I found the container without a lid, but no worries though, the log paper was very dry. Thanks for that.
Started the day with a run of 4 DNF's with this being the 4th. Revisited on the way back from Fort Takapuna and this time cache was located. Now for a quick play down on the beach. Hopefully the cooler weather has deterred sun-bathers.
Cache is in good condition considering the lack of lid. No sign of rainbows or naturists.
Quick find but lid to container missing. had a quick look around area but couldn't see it. Had to stand very still and quiet as a gaggle of muggles passed by on the stairway. TFTC
Found nice and easy with hint. Pro tip: if you are scrambling on all fours, there is a better route!
No lid on cache, and no pencil so couldn't sign.

Opps Needs maintenance, not archived. That is what happens when you are not paying attention. Just a quick note to let you know I found the cache but the lid was not on it and there wasn't any sign of it nearby. I put it on its side, but it'll still get soaked it if rains. Thanks for the adventure again.
I guessed where this one was right away, but getting to it was a little more awkard, I waited until the nearby muggles walked down to the beach then clambered to the cache. The cache was quickly grabbed and signed, but it had no lid. TFTC #304
out and about caching with Chosen1978. enjoying the many new places to visit. nice quick find thanks.
On our way to see a monster truck event. Just stoped off for a few caches. Nice spot tftc
On a day out caching along the coast with Butchie Bum, stunning weather and area, enjoyed caching along here, quick find and then heading back to the car we meet a very excited puppy, the walk along the beach hadnt slowed him down any, very cute, TFTC
Originally logged and found whilst out with mum (keylev) but now have own account so logging all finds I was present at and helped with.
Thanks for the cache.

No rainbows or naturists today. We did however find a cache once we realised it was not around the steps area - doh should have read the page better. Once I scrambled up the hard way I found the easy way out...
Took a walk down to the beach and found some people rock fishing. A very cool little spot that I would never have found if not for caching.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Looked at a few places near the steps before widening the search. It was only when Mr F found the cache we had our "oh" moment and understood the hint.
Wandered up and down a bit, and heaps of muggles, but an earlier log helped, and then the clue made sense. Slipped and slid to get there and there it was. Not one for jandal wearers!
So close couldn't go by without attempting. Drive to the end of the street and strolled down the path until the numbers started getting bigger... Back track a little and looked at the hint. Might be over there... A short climb through the slippery scrub and arrived at GZ. Had CIH within seconds. SL, returned as found then enjoyed the view on this glorious Sunday morning.

Lovely sunny day for a Father's Day walk with my 3 girls (so no rainbows). Been past to visit this beach many times, to walk the dog not to be naturalists! Tftc
Second visit here for me ...my phone gps had me on other side of walkway last time ! Thought about the hint , widened the search , and there it was ! Thanks rosmar !
Didn't find at first, stood back and re read the clues then quickly had it in hand. TFTC
Could not look for it because one lady was using the steps for her training. She was going up and down at least 20 times she said. But I went down to discover the little beach with the beautiful view. Thanks for making me go there. I don't know when I will have time to find the cache again but I am glad to have tried.
Found it! Last one today, will have to return to get the others in the area another time.
My finding streak is going OK!! Nice spot, tftc!!

Had plans to do a few more caches out here this afternoon but it didn't quite work out that way. Still we were able to grab this one at least, and after teotochhi suggested the best place to match the hint item the cache was quickly found. Quick wander onto the beach before heading back again. TFTC
No rainbows for me, (or nudists) but managed to grab the cache between muggle dog walkers. TFTC!
Visited after work for my daily find. Took a while to spot the hinted object while focusing on a bunch of hinted objects in the wrong place. The geotrail to the hinted object helped confirm my suspicions and the cache was quickly found. Got muggled by a dog who's owner was walking it down to the beach while signing.
Went down the the beach and there was nothing there to see, or should I say there was no nothing there to see!?
Thanks!

Not much chance of a rainbow today, as there wasn't a cloud in the sky. This is a cool little beach, with a very interesting door into the cliff. Thanks rosmar.
found as part of team stik-a-crane now logging under my own name ... I was there to help make the find but wanting a map and history of my own unique kind.
Great cache location. GPS took me to the other side of the path to start with, but the clues helped.
Kept away from the beach as had my daughter with. Left symbol of peace and friendship (#14)
TFTC.

Came off St Leonards Rd onto the path down to the foreshore then deviated off down the hill following the Gps. Quickly found once at gz.

This one took way longer than it should have till I re read the clue and stood back and had a good look around GZ then I saw the clue and cache was in hand. Great views and i think the steps and beach will be a great training run for my League boys. Tftc
Quick find once we got a break in the endless stream of dog walkers using the path. Nice beach at the end. TFTC
This was found together with the kids AHougaard and KHougaard
After the three events today, we went to Devonport to visit and old colleague I worked with abroad. We did a little geocaching along the way.
This was an easy find!
Thanks a lot for the cache

Find 04 of 10 for the day and #1524 in total.
Cracked the hint early with this one and we were glad we did. Sure saved a bit walking and head scratching.
Echo 4 - Spice 0
("\(0o0)/") Thanks for the caching fun!

No rainbows today but plenty of two and four legged going up and down. We had been having a look at the nearby Block houses so it was nice to find another cache on our five day visit to Auckland for the Mega. Thank you for bringing us to another lovely spot.
Decided to come down here as a slight diversion while walking back from the shops. No nudists in evidence but had a bit of a slide down the slope in the rain. Sneaky little hide. Left a pathtag and a TB then headed back to the inlaws' place slightly muddier than planned. TFTC!
We were out and about today in the Devonport area for a KiwifruitsNZ and Vamber Team Reunion/day of geocaching.
This cache took us a little longer than anticipated due to a complete misinterpretation of the clue and hunting around the wrong corner. After re-reading the description and the logs, my mistake was quickly realised and the right hiding spot that soon located after that! Phew! TFTC

The search for this cache formed part of another Vamber/KiwiFruitsNZ geocaching adventure - this time in Devonport.
This cache proved more difficult to find than it should have been. Despite three team members actively looking for this one, it wasn't until one person decided to try somewhere different that we realised that we had overlooked the obvious!
A cunning hide!

Needed another clip on the ticket for today's FFED.. Difficult to establish GZ as GPS all over the place however the clue was helpful. Good hide and log soon signed and replaced ! TFTC
Cool Hiding spot. We are looking in the wrong corner at first. Got it on our 4th try. TFTC!
Quick find; too cold for the nudists today so could afford the kids having a quick play on the beach
03:02pm | Quick find on the way from Takapuna to Davenport. I was looking in different corner for the first time but finally successfully found :] TFTC and greeting from the Czech Rep.
No one around tonight so I found it quickly and then decided to go down the beach, as expected no one there either and I'm glad I came down as it is a very nice beach. I wonder what the tunnel exit on the cliff is used for? TFTC
Being a very hot school holidays afternoon this path was over run with muggles, mini muggles and their four legged friends. After walking half way down this path and the GPS not wanting to stop bouncing all over the place we spotted GZ. cache then quickly retrieved while the path was quiet. TFTC
Lotsofmuggles down here today, we had to time the grab, but as we were just sending out a "TAF" tweet a friend, we decided to try a different tact. Boom. Gotcha. Nice hide. TFTC.
Wandered down until my GPS said to stop, then looked for the hint object. Maybe that...? A quick search turned up nothing, followed by a reading of others' logs - which convinced me to have another go. Eventually a quick find (if that makes sense).
My last cache of the day after a lovely walk around Takapuna. Took the slightly indirect route to GZ, but quickly located the cache once at GZ. A few muggles passed by on the steps but didn't even notice my presence.

Halfway down the steps I realized that there has to be an easier way to the gz. So I went back up a way and tried a different tack. I found the cache quite easily in the end, without having to crash through the trees and scramble up steep banks.
Wow this cache was a mission... well, it was not such a mission, but I made it one...
I parked along at the end of the road here, and decided to do a walk along the beach to all the other caches here.
So, got out, pen and phone in pocket, and GPS and keys on lanyard.
Walked down to where the GPS was pointing the least, thinking along the way: "Oh my gosh, I am definitely not looking forward to these steps on the way back!!!" I then figured out where the cache would be. Had to however bash my way through some trees, and almost slipped and fell!!
Also I managed to get caught on some branches along the way too... This was all pretty painful, as just yesterday I had managed to rip the skin off about 5 different points on my palms, and so I had huge open wounds there that were getting mud into them! And it hurt when I tried to grab branches to hold on to!!
Finally got there, and had to clamber my way back across... phew!!
Once that was done though, I climbed down to the bottom of the steps, and found that it was high tide. Figured though that I could climb all amongst the rocks to get around. When I ws about to jump down a wall though, I realised I no longer had a pen in my pocket. Headed back a wee bit, but no pen. Decided to keep going though, and that I'd worry about the pen later.
Once I jumped down the rock wall, I realised that I had absolutely no idea how I was gonna get back up on the way back... hmm...
Well, I can imagine that on a beautiful warm day, this would be a really lovely walk! But in the pouring rain, with completely soaked to the thread cold clothes, and slippery rocks which I almost slipped on many times, it was not too nice...
And then, guess what?! I arrived almost at the next cache, only to read the description, from which I inferred that the cache was UP that cliff... hahaha no.
But I don't give up easily. Luckily I am not too stupid, otherwise I probably would have climbed up that cliff, but instead I decided to walk on to the next cache... only to get there, and find that that one was obviously up the cliff too... Ah... great...
So that's the point where I decided to turn around.
On the way back I also froze, and once again almost slipped many times...
And I was actually wrong on the way to the cache... I was very much looking forward to those steps on the way back!! YAY! It was a great relief to be able to climb them back! Haha.
I still hadn't seen my pen anywhere along the way, so I went back to the GZ to try see it... had to climb back there! ANd nope, no pen. But luckily, as I ws climbing back, there I spotted it... yus!!
Haha, and I retrieted back to the car for some food and warmth...
That was intense, but great fun!!
TFTC!!

Needed a quick find to fill the calendar today and rush home and pack, leaving to go South tomorrow. What a mission this turned into. As I got to GZ 4 girls decided running up and down the steps was going to be their training ground tonight. So after wandering around and getting an idea of where it might be, I gave up and returned to the car. Enlisted son to return with me by then the girls were collapsed in a heap at the top, so managed to sneak down and retrieve, phew.... Been quite a few years more than 20 and the track to the beach down here didn't use to be like this. Nice to see its so much better for access. SL. TFTC.
Found under the cover of darkness, so no rainbow and no muggles. A very nice hide. TFTC.
suggested to mr p he looked over there - and voila. Definitely no nauralists today with the high wind and waves. t4tc
