Logs
Took a bit of looking but found thanks to previous logs. Interesting. All good here. In Dunedin for Mega. Out with gdkja for an earlyY start to the weekend. TFTC
A little tricky to start. But got there in the end. Kids loved the stickers inside. Thanks for a cool cache.
Was expecting to bush bash to this cache like everyone else but all the scrub and trees have been slashed back from the channel. Big tree stump still had wet sap oozing from the clean cut so must have just happened days ago. Cache was found on ground under branches so moved it to the top of bank. Nice area, shame there's only two cache now. TFTC
***Cosmic Quest** other **112/112pt** Quest extended an extra week to gain the 4.5million units still required to fuel the spacecraft; currently at 10,644,002pt with 17 days to go*.Never been to Sully dam but had driven past it a few times and not stopped. Now walking around the dam after some Wintery days and warmer weather enticed us outta the office for a walk. We are so lucky to have this only 10km from town and all to ourselves with no anglers or runners. Some scrub cutting has been carried out on the race with branches piled up over the other side of the channel. Walked down reasonable co'ods and crossed the wee bridge. Followed the device past a narrow strip of cleared ground away from the unfenced race edge to the first slash stack expecting to circle, bush bash, crawl through broom, coprosma and Olearia but everything has been slashed down to ground level at S48.427 E31.316 where the moveable GCA frog had been hidden. Stepping over fallen limbs and branches expecting to follow the device up the pine tree slope to the zero 4mt off the side of the channel and looked down to see the black painted 1Lt sistema chucked on the ground under branches on the lower level. Okayyy it's the cache, that was too easy. Took it up the slope to upper level area and opened the dry 1Lt cache. Still listed as 1.5Lt sammy cache which had replaced the original 2Lt cache that got soggy. RITR log booklet in glad was dry and ok, some smilie swag got left in the cache but ripped CD rubbish was removed. Peeps had been signing logbook with the pink pen in cache so that's what we did too, turning the next page where recent visitor had SL back in June'24. They had written on the fishing sign at the main gate they had no luck catching any of the fish species available in the dam. With good intentions that the scrub slash might be all picked up from the race tracks sometime, we popped the 1Lt current cache in the base of the RHS flax fern bole directly above the lower level we found the cache chucked down on. Apparently this only flax might not be the dead and decaying bush previously mentioned but had much improved in growth and condition just small enough not to be a nuisance to searchers so the CO should make an easy find returning to maintain her cache. A couple of short logs got popped in hide to stop any possummy disturbances. The shiny carrot of a cache archived the day before the current cache was published meant to be 4mt away under a 'fallen tree' four steps from the bridge was abandoned as too much scrub rubbish to sort through piled on the race edge and we walked away. Time had been called 12 years ago prior to current listing and Hexy's 250ml screwtop had gotten soggy over the several years since she had replaced the original '05 McRoni 1.5Lt snap lock. True to form, his cache was never maintained. All of the daisy trees have been slashed back so hints and spoilers for both caches are now **irrelevant** and needs a cache owner visit to ascertain the co'ods and hint description of the current cache before workmen clean up the rest of the scrub slash. If by 'Panax', was the CO referring hint bush to be Himalayan honeysuckle? or Broadleaf Gris as no standing trees are left to fit the description now. Still looking for the daisy tree. tftc
Nice bush bash, and i certinally did, took abit but found it. Time yo go fishing

Found today, finally!! Very muddy and wet underfoot; almost fell in the water race haha. TFTC!
Ducking hell, nearly slipped in mud en route to cache, then nearly tripped on shoelace getting down to it!
Would have been a big effort creating water race back in the day! Thanks for bringing me here.

Cache 1062 Day 3 of my “hidden dates” cache holiday search around Dunedin. Today I’m exploring by myself taking my time heading up towards sea cliff to knock quite a few off the list on the way as well as grabbing some extras. Frosty start to the morning again but that still won’t deter my hunt for the Plastic. I was clean and tidy before this stop lol I got pretty close to GZ just following my compass and soon spotted what I needed to get even closer, got into the bush and had to duck and dive (my gps was bouncing) looked at the hint (my mind read behind the flax) found the only flax in the area which was dead and decaying no cache was about to walk away re read hint PANAX…… turned round and spotted the cache right away had to do more ducking diving and sliding but got in there and signed….. next time I’ll leave it to the ducks cache in good shape T4TC
My first in NZ. Must get back in to caching. Good fun. Enjoyed sitting listening to birdsong for awhile. TFC.
Out for a day of caching and exploring with Flamingo4850 (also known as Joyz48) and our geohubbies on a beautiful, sunny day. Walked around the dam, and found an area full of birdsong, with heaps of tuis flying around. A lovely walk and near the end of our walk we headed off to find this cache. Initially wondered how we would get to it, but found the way, and then had to duck around a little to get to the cache container. Signed the log and headed off to search of some others. TFTC.
A little bush bash away from the edge following a well defined caching trail led us to the ailing cache.Mr KT_W kindly slid down and retrieved the old one and put the new one in place, just above GL.
Did not find today despite an extensive search, pretty sure we were in the right place, just not our day! Will try again another time.
Found after a long find. Yet once you know you’re in the right place all makes sense.
Finally found it! My 900th find. A bit dangerous to access GZ and had some trouble reaching the actual cache. Container had a little bit of water but logbook ok. Tftc
No ducks today - GPS was fairly insistent we headed somewhere that didn't look so accessible but after a quick browse of recent logs thought could make sense. However, our botany probably let us down and all we came away with today was sopping wet. Not by any means certain we were in the right place as we're usually quite comfortable on T2 - will do our research and return on a less soggy day
Found with top off cache container and cache full to overflowing with water. Logbook bag also full, water poured out of both the bag and book! Couldn’t sign but emptied as much water as possible and CO notified. WARNING PHOTO SPOILER TFTC
Nice wee challenge to find! Had to cling on a wee bit. Great cache; just be aware though that the log was little damp
Found with waimoguy

Found by D after a bit of trouble, quite overgrown and a bit dangerous getting to it. TFTC!
Felt adventurous while searching for this cache. Clung to nearby trees as a precaution!! Everything pretty wet down this way at the moment but all good with log (just a little damp). Tftc
It is getting a little overgrown around this cache. Still relatively easy to find. There was also some water in the cache box which I tipped out. The log book was okay.
Managed to inhale some spider webs looking for this. A tad uncomfortable. Found the cache with ease. Thanks
We have been thinking about tackling the caches down Leith Valley for a while and today was the day.
We had not been here for ages. The dog enjoyed being part of the search team for this one

I sure do love ducks, and loved the rubber duck in this cache too! Lovely place Sullivan's Dam TFTC!
Out with BCD in the rain and snow. Had to do a bit of arm twisting "just one more!" Retrieved one of the trackables. Another lovely wee walk in an area I have never been before. TFTC
Down in dunners for the weekend to catch up with my prodigy KJR and head out on a caching mission even pouring rain and continual snow flurries wasn't going to stop us unfortunately I had called shot gun so I was the one battling the elements at least I had some wet weather gear to wear after completing the caches on the waitati road and then the rookie road series I was completely soaked and freezing cold and I had had enough for the day but K wouldn't takes us home insisting on a few more ( I taught her well) so out into the elements I go.
headed out with K and R and having found most of the caches for the day was time to let K in on the action still very wet and a quick find tftc picked up TB

Out with a Wednesday walking group that went up to the transmission line. Pick this one up after almost completing a circuit of the lake.
I decided to come up this way for a bit of a walk and scare a few ducks from the land into the water.. It is a nice place for a walk.
In: TB.
Cheers for the cache.

A rainy day but wanted to get out and find the final DOCDunedin caches during conservation week.
Co-ords spot on. Only coots out on the water today.

Out for a bit of a shot at the rifle range and this one else was not far off the beaten track so I decided to get this one for today and I had not been to the dam before so killed 2 birds with one stone. It was an awesome day out here after the rain we had this morning TFTC ☺

Lovely area in the misty rain, enjoyed the walk to the cache admiring the scenery. Cache was quickly in hand and logged with Guwapo and Granville86a.
Guwapo and Papa out and about with Uncle Granville and Chosen. A nice walk around the reservoir and a search in a place Papa remembers fro a previous cache. Found by Granville. Salamat!
Found with Chosen1978 Guwapo and Papa. A nice walk round the reservoir and cache soon in hand.
No ducks around on this cold winter's day.... This one took us longer to find than it should have, but we got there in the end TFTC
Nice place, but a bit chillier than we were expecting in here today. Found the cache then headed off to find the sunshine. Will definitely return to complete the round trip another day. TFTC!
Dusted off the box, will replace the log book next visit as its a bit damp.
Saw about a dozen Australian Coots on the water today, also a number of grey ducks and there was a blue crane down the other end when I first arrived.

Garmin had GZ on whichever side of the water that I wasn't. Soon decided which side it had to be, looked in the obvious spot, didn't see it (duh), decoded the hint, looked again and there it was, quite obvious.
First actual find after failing (sort of) with Pipe Dream.
Took TB and will move it along. TNLN. TFTC.

A nice walk along the bank of the Dam, quickly grabbed the cache and returned. TFTC
Had to google Pannax but all good. GPS had us on other side of water. TFTC.
Sorry for the very late log..always too busy (for me it is definitely not about the numbers )
Found this with swollibman after our silver peaks adventure. Nice spot..and a little bit tricky location TFTC!

We attempted to head up to the Silver Peaks this weekend for a 2 night tramp via the Leith Saddle (walking in all the way from Dunedin!) but it was far too windy, we were crawling for a while, and unfortunately had to head back. Luckily we had a contingency plan for this very occurrence and got a few caches around SH1 and Waitati & Leith Valley Roads before walking back into town. So still a nice day out caching and we found some good ones. TFTC!
Haven't been here for years- since my kids came here to try and catch some of the wily trout that live in the dam. Geocaching is certainly teaching us more about botany (see the hint). Trackable not there, but we dropped one off.
Great spot. Always wanted to visit this spot but never got around to it. Love it.
Only one lonely duck in attendance on an early Sunday morning - quick find of the cache once at the right spot! TFTC!!!
Lots of signs to read near the entrance!
Nice walk to the cache and a nice quick find.

Had a great time finding this one with nallott_neo TFTC -took the trackable
The Dangerous Ninja TB dropped off by jrb5050. Long story- moral is that jrb is just far too polite to grab anything?
