What a lovely historical spot this is. Enjoyed our wander through this cemetery, reading all the info boards as we went. And reading your personal history link was interesting too. Had no trouble finding your cache and signed our name in a blank spot among other earlier signatures. (Pic attached) Thank you
Searched as per the hint but want having much luck. Stood back and spotted the cache. Its no longer at GL. Cache in pretty good nick. Thanks for the cache, Onslow Fisherman#6094 ** Make your way to Dunedin for New Zealands next Mega Event. GCA7ZHD Geo Toroa will be held on NZs Labour Day long weekend 26-27th October 2024 **
Headed up to the cemetary on my way through Lawrence and had a wander. Contractors were doing something so I waited a while for them to move on. Enjoyed learning about some past residents.Once I was able to, ducked into GZ and made the find. Tftc!
After lunch in Lawrence it was time to come up this road. What a well kept cemetery.
A good day caching with P&Vee and hubbies, great searching but eventually found. Tftc
We set up our campsite and then after dinner we walked up to the cemetery to do some caches, I liked finding them and learning new things. TFTC
We cycled in from Millers Flat this afternoon. Settled into our accommodation and then cached our way to the cemetery. A nice story in the description and a quick find. TFTC
First for the day. Out caching with Juju54 and Campmother&Ken on Juju54 s birthday. TFTC
Found while riding the last unridden section of the Clutha Gold extension. Not quite where I expected it.

It’s interesting to find a geocache of such personal significance. TFTC. The logbook is a little soft but quite usable still.
Came all the way up here couldn’t miss an opportunity. Sorry I didn’t have a pencil with me to leave. Tftc
Tftc good spot the sharpener is there but next person could bring a small pencil
Love cemetery finds, always interesting and reflective places to visit, I particularly enjoyed learning more history about the Chinese in this area. Took a little bit to find cache as my app navigation was screwy, but once I found the likely tree it was all good, and previous logs about it not actually being at ground level proved helpful. Tftc.
JDScout and I stayed at Ranfurly last night. Now we're on our way to Lawrence for 2 nights. An interesting cemetery.
First find today Day one caching and seeing the sights of Otago and a bit of Southland with raylnz (big Sis from CH-Ch.) Brilliant day on the coast. Good to be out and about before our next self-imposed home detention. tftc
All good here. Interesting place to visit. Out the second day sightseeing and caching with gdkja. Tftc
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up in Lawerence for a couple days … some biking on the Goldfields Trail & walking into Gabriels Gully are on the agenda … but first a walk around town … be rude not to grab a few caches … we have been doing our Family Trees for a while now, so we find it quite fascinating to wander around old cemeteries … found this with no real issues, log completed & successfully returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,039 for us.
Staying in Lawrence for the week so taking the chance to grab a few local caches. Almodr streets from this one by a swarm of bees that have taken up residence very close to GZ, but was able to find a way past them. Thanks for the cache!
Need 50 today for a Geocaching Licence Challenge. Thanks for all CO's placing these, especially those with safe parking. This is number 47.
Cache 806 2nd cemetery cache here in Lawerence, it’s now raining and I had to wait for some muggles to disappear before hoping in the bush cache is as described in hint but not at GL try just above knee height cache is in good shape T4TC
Cache is definitely there, with rock on top, but not GL. Found the right tree (co-ordinates took me to the general area and it didn't take long to track the cache down). An interesting cemetery. Got some co-ordinates for the nearby multi as well, but will hunt for that final another time. TFTC.

Nice that OF shared some his family history, the legacy of his caches lives on, very cool. A quiet place today a time to contemplate.. and hunt for his cache. All good here
Located the multi in the same area and had to grab this one while there. Loved the family link for the CO. Took a bit of finding as it is no longer at GL.
This find number 2010!

So while I searched for his nibs ancestors headstones his nibs set off looking for the cache and soon came up trumps. I found what I was looking for too. Nice place for a cache - lots of history here. Thank you.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 8 of our extended Easter break, today we are travelling from Clyde to Dunedin via Lake Mahinerangi on a beautiful Anzac day.
Some navigational difficulties saw us turning into the wrong road, but soon sorted that. A bit of fossicking and the cache was found. First of two caches found in this large cemetery. TFTC.

#17072. This is certainly a substantial cemetery. There were a lot of hint objects at GZ, and it took a bit of time to located the cache. TFTC.
There were some workmen with a digger in a different part of the cemetery - but nobody else around on this beautiful day.
Great to see this OF cache continuing. Thanks everybody.
I took the TB that was in there, to move it on.

WhTs not to love about a caching trip combined with downsouthinv having to deliver parts for work.
Any excuse is a good one, and time to head off the main road into the wilderness to find us some caches.
Nice and dry at gz today!

There was no excuse not to, quickly chucked clothes on dragged her outta bed raced into work, got parts, and on the road before 8am.
As we drove, the voice from the passenger seat, piped up and said ' look at all these, aren't we going near here?'
Oooh Goody!! Now it's a fun work trip, might be a long day!!!
A nice walk to pick this one up. Cloud coverage lifted and a beautiful day and getting hot.

Many thanks to all the COs who helped make our geocaching holiday a great success
We left home early April and returned 21 May 2018. We toured from our home base up to a wedding in North Taranaki then carried on heading south right down through wellington and on down the west coast and back up via the eastern side of the alps some times going around in circles. Our aim was to get as many smiley faces on the puzzle caches that we had solved but of course stopping for many traditionals, multies and others as we went. some time we biked the bike trails or walked but mostly by campervan. we enjoyed the quite back country roads, many of them were metal but we just travelled along slowly going from cache to cache. Most caches were in good condition and I will remark if we thought it needs maintence etc.

Plenty of trees to choose from and I soon had it narrowed down to two or three. Quite well hidden.
A lengthy search with Adigreen eventually came up trumps (no not the American version). Not quite where co-ords state, but signed log and returned.
It was not as described, so we had a real job finding this. We replaced where we thought more fitted the original description.
Out for a caching adventure to the Lawrence area with Sirbennis. What awesome old cemetery. The history here is great and the old tombs. Shame some have been left to fall to bits.
One of the first caches to grab 'cause of the TB to pick up. The little woman was disappointed the TB she left in town was stolen and the one here needed to be moved on quickly with there being no recent logs compared to the others in town. The cache was found eventually as I was thinking too GL and not searching for the other thing. All was found in due course and I SL. Cache was in good condition and tucked away with it's memento in place. TFTC Onslow Fisherman
Found with crooked pete, GreencGecko's and Seffnjarah.
After a great hike we had a few days set aside for a few local caches. Thanks for bringing us to this great spot. Checked out some old grave sites.

Having completed a five day tramp over "Five Passes" in Fiordland National Park to claim first to find on a long unloved remote alpine earth cache, our reserve "bad weather days" are now free for us to go caching. So, we hired a car for a road trip looping around southern parts of the South Island, including a full days caching in Dunedin.
This morning we left Dunedin heading back to Queenstown for our flight home. Along the way, we stopped to collect the odd cache here and there, including this one. Some nice views from up here. This cache was a good chance to stretch the legs and take in a bit of the local history.
Many thanks Onslow Fisherman

A group of 5 of us were visiting NZ from Australia in search of a five year old FTF cache on the 5 Passes trail. We had given ourselves a few spare days at the end in case bad weather held us up along the way, but Mother Nature chose to be kind and after successfully completing our mission, now had time to kill on our hands. A visit to Invercargill and a couple of days in Dunedin and it was now time to head back to Queenstown for the plane ride back to Brisbane. But the drive offered a few last opportunities for some caches, including this cache. No problems with the find and on the way back to the car grabbed a quick look at some of the more interesting graves in the area. Dropped of a TB. TFTC
Quite an impressive lineage described on the cache page Onslow Fisherman. This one took longer than it should have but found where the GPS indicated and under the special rock but not t ground level. I was particular fascinated by the story of Sam Chew Lain - he was obviously a shrewd and honest businessman. I went and visited his tomb after finding the cache and was saddened to see it vandalised. A very interesting visit. TFTC #9947
We flew into Invercargill last week to catch up with the rellies, now its home to Wellington via West Coast with maybe a cache or two to break the journey up. Heading to Makarora today.
I had a Great Grandmother who was born here in 1875, she is linked to Gabriel's Gully and Blue Spur as well.

In Lawrence to find some caches. Took a while to spot it but after reading a previous log and shifting my search slightly I found it. Nice cemetery. Thanks
What a beautiful green space in the shade here. Found a good park for the wagon and wandered over to the GZ. Things are well watered here but that made for a wery saturated walk over and I repaired one of my divots after that sinking feeling. Squelch! Found the wery green con at waist level under it's stone all ok; SL, threw in some swag and changed the bags. TFTC Jim.
On an exploration tour of Lawrence. What alot of old interesting buildings here. I took quite a few photos which i will post later. At GZ there are some amazing mausoleums -again took photos- and the information was interesting to read. The cache had become victim to the adjacent field being ploughed up and the fence between (if there was one) being removed. The cache was lying exposed on the ground. I have re-placed it in the "nest' of a tree between two old stumps at about half a metre high with the special rock on top. about 2m. from my GZ. The log book was damp but OK. Thanks for the cache and another smiley face.
A quick detour on our way to Clyde for the weekend. Just on sunset and it took longer for the photo stop than to find the cache. TFTC
After attending the local event, it could almost considered rude not going to grab the local caches. So CJ-Curry, Hevic, Granville, Kiscardi and I did a trek around town in the drizzle attempting the caches.
Nice out of the way/sight cache
Nice out of the way/sight cache
An event in Lawrence prompted a rather rainy daytrip to the area for Hevic and myself. Found this one alongside Natalie247, Granville86a and Kiscardi as part of a slightly disorganised attack on the caches in the area. Another success story here, as the lack of a barrier made things rather easy for Kiscardi to spot the hint object - or, rather, the object that the hint object once was. Cheers!
I decided to have a bit of a walk around Lawrence picking up the odd cache here and there. Also a bit of the local history as well.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Thanks

Third cemetery cache for StumbleTrip on the day when the layers between the spirit and human realms are at their thinnest. Coldest cemetery I've been in today. TFTC.
This one took me further walking than I had anticipated due to the fact that roads on my GPS do not in fact exist in the real world. However, the cache was a pretty straightforward find, thanks.
Had a good wander around the cemetery. Very old. Even found my brothers name there. Tftc
Love these areas, very interesting history and structures, thanks for bringing me here, TFTC
Another cache that we previously had a DNF but we had some luck today. The cache was sitting out in the open and has been the victim of some serious earthworks immediately behind the Graveyard. The cache itself was still intact and we have now re-hidden it under its original rock beside a nearby tree stump. Thanks for the hide OF, we're glad to tick this off the list and it is a beautifully peaceful spot.
Lots of cutting of bush evident but got there on the end. Tftc. Nice to see a well tended cemetry
