Thanks Digby Carol/Dave for placing this cache for all to enjoy. We loved the birdlife around the lake especially the super cute robin's, fantails and Saddleback! Looking forward to returning in summer! TNLNSL, replaced as found, TFTC
Lovely walk around the bush clad walk. Saddleback and Robin were out in the open. Many other species were rustling in the trees waiting to be spotted.
Apologies for the late logging. Found while staying at the reserve for a few days. We were delighted to have a robin visit us while at GZ (the first of many this trip). All good with the cache. TFTC DavCar5.
#14,780. Enjoyed the very pleasant short walk in Rawhitiroa. The GZ was fortunately all quiet at the time of our visit. Quick find. The cache itself was in good condition. Although it was a little damp, the logbook was ok to write on. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.*Thanks for the geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and *.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*

Thanks for the cache! Cute little fernbird scurried away from the cache area as I approached, and I was watched by a curious robin. Beautiful place for a walk.
Beautiful place, so lovely seeing all the birds and so peaceful! Thanks for the caches!
Another piece of Aotearoa paradise… tieke, robin, tui, brown teal ducks, hihi… how lucky are we. TFTC
Out with Sarahjane20 and we saw lots of tīeke and robin today. Cache in good order and found with two feathered friends observing. Tftc
Beautiful Sunday for a stop en-route to New Plymouth. Our first time here - very impressed. Families making best use of the water fun. Unfortunately families also around one of the cache sites, so we had to leave it. This one we had to ourselves. Easy find. Nice SWAG for kids. Cache is all good. TFTC
Tftc. 1 year between visits and found it this time. Homeward bound to christchurch after visiting Tauranga in our campervan
Hubby wanted to come down to Hawera shopping so i said 'how about walk around Lake Rotokare after'. Turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. The girls found this easily. TFTC
Nice Strole From Carpark For This One,Lot Of People Out And About Today,Cache In Good Condition Nice And Dry ,Cache A Bit Empty Only Log Book So Left Some Small Animals For The Kid.
Drove to this reserve to meet up with some friends. What a wonderful spot. The walkway and views over the lake were great. The bird life is amazing. First time I have seen saddleback birds on the mainland. Five of them just flew around near us for several minutes. New cache and log all fine. Thanks for the recent maintenance. Happy to add to the favourites.

Just about didn’t make it to cache site as was first on the scene of a slip on the road but luckily someone on the other side had a saw and cut the ponga tree in half and we then carried it off the road. Was a tight squeeze but we got through. See photo.
Had a lovely walk to GZ and the kids can claim the find as they spotted it straightaway. TFTC

Was a good choice of cache to hunt for today as we are studying the wetlands at school. We had a good look at the information centre and at all the traps down the pathway. We even met up with some trappers baiting the traps with a syringe full of peanut butter. Had a good view over the lake on the pontoon and even saw a couple of family members etched into the boardwalk. TFTC. Cool hide.
what a super day it is today for a lovely walk we never knew this lovely beautiful place existed. what a surprise it was such a lovely spot to have a picnic or stay the night self contained of course. We had a bit of a look around then it was time to cache there were a few muggles around on the track today some even singing, but we managed to grab the cache unseen. Thank you for placing a cache here. we should of brought a picnic and stayed the day. now that we know its here well have to visit again soon. thank you for placing a cache here. now onto the next cache looking forward to the walk around the lake and beyond. TFTC nice quick find here cache was all good we placed it back exactly where we found it.

Got to have a walk in this lovely park thanks to our air bnb hosts agreeing to look after our pampered pooch, who is definitely most unwelcome in this reserve, and for good reason. Took a lovely stroll along the lake side and ended up here at this cache site. Not difficult as it was visible on approach so a quick grab and sign of the log. Found the travel bug which has been here since November perhaps so picked that up and did a swapsie with one we picked up yesterday which I think would suit here. All good here and thanks for the cache.
Last cache for me today at the lake and my phone went flat ten minutes earlier. I got to this area and thought, if I was going to put a cache out here this would be a good place, had a quick look around and found it. The car was only 10 minutes further along so I gathered my spare battery pack and returned to GZ to make sure it was the same one and not a mystery. Naturally grabbed a photo while I was there.
Cheers.
Cheers.
I then hiked it back towards the carpark locting this one on the way. A very nice view over the lake.
Cheers for the cache.

A quick easy find with the hint, as we continued our ramble around the lake. TFTC
Lovely spot for a short breather as we near the end of our walk. Took TB to motor on. TFTC
Nice easy find on a lovely walk. Dropped RedJeep Travelbug. Fourth digit in the number is a zero, not an O

Visiting my muggle friend in NP again and we had already decided we wanted to walk around the lake, so after a bit of research I wanted to walk the ridge line, so glad we did was a lovely walk up and around with great views. Thanks so much for the wee stops along the way, and for hiding caches. Co's we wanted to do the ridge line track we had to race up and grab this on at the end. Quick search scored me the prize.
Nice walk around the lake for Get Outdoors Day today CITO with Shellbellz and one half of 2 Bulbars, found this one pretty quickly, tftc DavCar5
Even though it is quite overcast, it was still very much worthwhile driving in to this gem of a place. Unfortunately time is against us so couldn't do the loop. Thanks for placing the cache in this spot to give us a taste of this reserve. Bird song aplenty. This gets a favourite from us.
Was down in Wellington for a few days, and decided that I'd make an extra long weekend of it and transfer a rental car back to Auckland and cache along the way. Unfortunately for the rental agency that ment nearly tripling the km's they thought I'd put on it!
With the rental car company only giving me 48 hours to get the car to Auckland a little bit of planing was needed to maximise what I wanted to accomplish, and with only a few DNF's it turned out to be a very successful trip. So a big thanks to everyone who had placed caches along the way, and for showing me some great sight's along the way.
Day 2: Wanganui to Hawera and home via the Forgotten Highway.
Very enjoyable run/walk around the lake, as time was getting on so only had limited time to get around the lake. All good here, thanks for the hide.

Loving this lake - hoping we are the last to find for 2015 as log located and signed - tftc
Spending the day tidying up Taranaki caches which I am yet to find, plus a maintenance run on some of my caches. Checked this cache on way round lake. Picked up TB as these caches don't get enough visitors to move it on any time soon. Otherwise all good here.
This cache was the next one on our walkway around the lake. After reading the hint Melissa could find the container very quick. I dropped a TB there. Really nice place.

I have previously found this one on my own, but today I was introducing my girl guide unit to geocaching. Cache is all good
Took a drive out to the Rotokare Reserve to take a look. What a great reserve, think we saw a tomtit here too.
Took the walk along the track and was able to find this cache without the GPS as it has packed a sad, and the phone as there is no cell coverage.
Signed the log,TNLN. Gets a FP for the unique reserve, what is being done to look after our native birds and a great location.
Thanks for the placement Carol & Dave.

To me this is what caching is about, quiet and peaceful and tranquil after a bit of a walk:) tftc
Found after lunch. Such a nice walk. Found by significant other....he won't let me forget it!
After dinner we went to this reserve and found the cache before listening to kiwis. Tftc.
Very nice spot for a cache - thanks for adding to the nice experience of this walk. T4tc
Woo hoo found it today with Krystalkath's assistance. Had looked all around here last time, but she says I wouldn't have seen it due to its camo colour. Beautiful weekend here under a full moon last night. Stunning morning chorus and awesome Kahikatea trees in the nearby sanctuary bush. Nice hide TFTC
Took a visiting friend out to see Rotokare and go for a bush walk around the lake...had to grab the caches out there. As mentioned in previous logs the coordinates disagreed with the clue....the clue was right! TFTC
It was a beautiful day to visit and late afternoon the birdlife is prolific. Fortunately I'll have to return as I couldn't find it. GPSr wanted me to go right of the seat (when sitting) no matter how many times I relocated. And small windfall made it hard to determine the tree count altogether. But TFTC - another time.
While on a walk with my granddaughter we found this one. Weather nice but cold. Lake looked lovely and some good information about the trees. Took pet rock and dropped off butterfly. SL TFTC.
Enjoyed a lovely walk as we followed on from picking up the FTF near by.
A beautiful day, a very nice track & a lovely area.
Was a little disappointed to find a previous cacher had written their name & date on the seat & not in the log bookl. It seemed quite unnecessary & a little disrespectful to the people who had worked so hard to make this such a lovely place to visit.
Thanks for showing us this awesome spot.
Left a pet rock - a frog. TFTC

Great place and Lake to relax at. Some big changes over the years have made this oasis worth a visit, tftc
Stopped here over night. Lovely quiet place. Went for an evening walk to find cache. Didn't go all the way round but some runners did in 30 minutes. TFTC
A lovely spot and it has changed since I was last here as a schoolboy. TFTC Digby Dave & Carol
Once again we did things the hard way. We've been here before and that time had gone counter-clockwise around the lake so this time decided to walk clockwise. As a result we had an hour-plus walk before getting to GZ, and boy, was that seat welcome.
I munched on a sandwich while my wife bravely battled spiders to retrieve the cache. Well done, that woman. The hint was essential as we had mistakenly left the eTrex at home and had to use Karen the language-mangler to get to the right spot. She's OK on-road, not so good off-road.
Thanks for the cache and for bringing us here again.

spent a lot of time out here in the past and my dad works here has been over every inch of this place and had no idea about this
To say this spot is absolutely stunning would be an understatement. I'm very impressed to see all the hard work that has gone on here and presented so lovely too. An easy find for the two new cachers with me on this trip. Thank you for bringing us here to this magical little place.
Little evening walk and stop on our drive to NP today. Really nice little hidden reserve. Out : TB. TFTC. Sherlock hood.
Was in the general area today so made some time to make it out to the reserve... It's a fantastic place and a great achievement enjoyed a brisk walk to GZ and stopped to enjoy the view while filling in the log book... Luckily there was a pencil in the cache... As I had left mine safely in my vehicle lol

What a fantastic place! I had never heard of the Rotokare Reserve before and only came up here as it was a cache that met the requirements of a challenge I was working on. So pleased I did.
It was a lovely walk along the lake and was fortunate to see bellbirds, a woodpigeon and a couple of fantails.
Next time I will bring the family for a walk right around the lake.
Many thanks

Lovely lake. Got to see the "giant Weta" where a log has been turned into a Weta home for educational purposes.
Left duck trackable.

Having been directed to this cache by our motels owners (CO!) We came to this reserve and looked around. TFTC
Found it with my father in law. Great the effort that has gone into removing pests. Surprised that they still let water skiing happen here, the noise would ruin the tranquility. Quick find at spot, thanks to the hint.
