We hadn't known about the issues with this cache until we arrived at Rockfield Reserve. GPS took us uncomfortably close to the boundary and overlooked by neighbouring houses. Would not have persisted had it not been for kiwifamily's success the day before. The cache was eventually found at a more discrete distance from the boundary. As noted by kiwifamily the log is so wet it is impossible to sign, so we scratched our initials.

This cache really needs the maintenance as the cache was full of water and log book totally wet.
Couldn't sign at all.
Please replace this for others to sign as at the time I didn't have anything to replace this with.

And the owners haven't logged into the site since Dec 2010

It's a no from us too. Once we could get the GPS to settle we had a good search but it looks like there's been some maintenance crews doing a bit of replanting. Needs a check.
First ever attempt at finding a cache and failed miserably! Even had 2 goes as it's just around the corner from home. Not even any sign of a subway wrapper! Be great if someone with more experience than us could verify if the cache is still there...
Nope not for me today, lots of trees cut back and neighbors weeds thrown over the fence, GPS all over the place, I had a good poke around, I will return another day.
Using iPone GPS gave too much variance. Looks like that corner has been cleaned of rubbish recently. Take mozzie spray
6443 Easy find.... once we spotted the Subway wrapper that is. Needs maintenance, logbook is sodden, TFTC.
Nice quick and easy find - didn't know if the old subway bag was camo or CITO material - but I left it where it was. Think the place may have been cleaned up a little since the last logs - wasn't much rubbish around at all. Took me longer to find somewhere to park than to find the cache!

Out caching in the evening. Found the cache very wet, about 10m NE from coordinates. Nice park. A few mozzies. TFTC
Unfortunately the log was very wet. Approx 10m NE of listed co-ords. Watch out for the mozzies and the friendly man who sits at the entrance, (he's harmless). t4tc
Pouring with rain. Too wet to do much digging. Very tidy. No rubbish today. I hope it hasn't been cleaned away.
Container very wet inside. Dried out with a towel but log book also very wet. GPS had me a few meters away but still found with a few minutes.
Burrowed around within 8m radius of GZ. Found mattress, rubbish, but no cache. Then muggles arrived. Seems my GPS had me slightly in the wrong location.
I love this place shame about the state of it though its so peaceful...cache was very wet needs attenetion...was impressed by Mr UGTME's Find with Andrew, the "mattrees" were very impressive along with the foamgus...young boys joke..
Found with adult kids (Alianne of Tortall & UGTME) it was Alianne who found it. - Suggest putting logbook in a ziplock bag with silica, was too wet to be able to do this at time but we dried out the container and did what we could for the logbook but it will need replacing. TFTC
No luck for me or the kids, looked everywhere.
Please put a proper clue to help us out, a cache discription is not a clue.

Checked on the way home tonight, it is still there,
hint updated, to look down, not up, might need to dig with your hands a bit

Put us down for a DNF on this one. Searched everywhere...no joy this time.

Another lovely geocaching day! Found this cache quite quickly. SL Thanks for setting it up.
This took a wee bit of time since GPS was going in the opposite direction. Was there for almost 15 minutes, when ash spotted it.

Another hard one, as the hint gives nothing away! Had already tried and failed here before and this time spent a good 20 minutes with O. till I had nearly given up, and O. had started climbing trees. Finally, went and got a good signal at the clearing and then trusted GPS to get me to the spot. From here I fairly quickly had it in hand. Cache is very wet, and logbook soaked, almost falling to bits, and hard to write in. Glad to have crossed this off my list! Nice little park though and this time here on a beautiful sunny day. TFTC.
14:46 Wandered around here for awhile, then I widened my search I finally found it. Very damp cache, needs a dryout. TFTC. Found at Coordinates attached to this log.

Hi All
Thanks for the comments about it being Wet,
I am in the process of looking for a new container, but have not had a chance to get back there yet,
it is on the list of things to do,
Does anyone have any suggestions on the best type of container to fit into this spot ?
Im new to this, so unsure what would be best at the moment.
Thanks

Biggest problem was finding the park as the road map had it further up the road.
After asking a local for directions we found the park. GPS was out about 10m
and with all the vegetation being cleared were ready to file a DNF . As we were leaving
I went to one last place to look and "bingo " . Log is still damp but able to write on it .
sorry didnt have a bag to put it in . TFTC

A little hunt but once the gps settled down a quick find. As mentioned in other logs it is wet.

Was going to put a maintenance log on this but see there is one already there. The log is very damp and cache needs a dry out. Great little reserve that we hadn't discovered before. TFTC
Haven't been here since I was at the high school. I'd suggest moving the 'hint' to the main page. T4TC - M@
There had been some gardening by chainsaw going on and we were expecting the cache was probably gone. Certainly not in the obvious spot but followed the GPS and there it was. Safe but damp-aren't we all. At least it meant no one else in this pleasant reserve. Just us and a tui. Left TB. PTINO TFTC
Took me a couple of circles to find an entrance to this reserve. Then it took another swing to find a park. GPS had me in the slightly wrong area. Eventually I dicided to abandon the technology and follow my nose. Thirty seconds later and the Cache was in hand!
Looked hard, in a number of great hiding places, but cache never materialised. Will have another go on way home from work or something.
Not a great place on a wet day so luckily we made a quick find and could retreat to the car T4TC.
Thanks so much Sp8sm8 and Team SMB!!!
I went out with both boys and a friend and we missed it for a second time.
Out again with the boys today after me trying alone for 30 minutes and - success!!
I was looking at rocks mmmm tried a different tack today. We're new but gettting better every day. Aim is to catch up to Sp8sm8's number of finds

Was a bit worried by the obvious recent work, so rather pleased to spot the likely hide from a distance.

Entered the reserve via the rear entrance - easier parking that way. Approached GZ with a bit of trepidation and much squelching given the recent notes and current weather. Quite a bit of vegetation trimmed round there but thankfully the cache and its hiding place are intact. TFTC, Biggles.
Had a quick look around the corner today.
Path was taped off with "do not cross" and workers were doing some major tree trimming.
Will have another look when they're gone.

Thanks for pointing that out, due to where it is, i might see if i can shoot past first thing in the morning, early, and see if its still there,
hopefully they havent taken it,
If it is, I will relocate it and log the new co ordinates

Nice hide-goota agree parking is very diificult-parked slightly illegally & hoped for a qwik find-was lucky!tftc
Quick find on the way back to the office. Most difficult part of finding this cache was trying to get a parking. TFTC
My very first try at geocache.
Daddy drove me close and I had to find. Don't want to spoil, but got scratched by gorse.
Was I close??

there are plants etc, but not any gorse in the area
Hopefully you will find it next time
