I couldn't begin to count the times we've driven past here without stopping. I usually managed a "there's a cache over there" though.

Today we'd targeted a cache up the coast near Oaro but were foiled by the weather. Heading home with our tails between our legs there was a break in the weather. "That's where that cache is", "*sigh* do you want to get it?" There's only one answer to that so I leapt out of the now-stationary car. There was an obvious hide, though not *quite* as per the hint, but definitely holding a micro cache. Yay!

#10195. Day 6 of the South Island road trip around the top of the South Island (Canterbury and Westland) with Infoferret. This trip was planned to replace the Labour weekend Auckland Mega adventure. We have stayed overnight in Murchison and today are heading to Christchurch. The weather has improved in the morning and by time we reached Canterbury it was like a hot summers day.

Finally reached Cheviot, one of our key locations today. Parked nearby and wandered back to GZ. Found in the second place checked.. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks bumandworker for hiding the cache here. Note I added a new logsheet here.

Day 10 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)

Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.

Having slept parked up in Kaikoura overnight, I awoke to a very fresh but otherwise beautiful morning. Today's plan was to drive from Kaikoura back to Christchurch to catch up with an old friend there before heading further south after that.

Whilst I would simply not be able to stop at every cache I was near on my tour (otherwise I'd be taking 2 years instead of just 2 weeks) I was happy to randomly stop at caches in locations that caught my eye occasionally to break up the journey, such as this one. That way I hoped to be able to add a few more Minutes to my quest to fulfil a Challenge Cache back home.

Once I had parked up and walked towards GZ, I had the place to myself to be able to search uninterrupted, and it wasn't long before I had located the cache. On opening though, I discovered the log was soaking wet! I was still just about able to make my mark on it before replacing everything back as found. Sorry I didn't have any spares on me today.

Thanks for placing this cache.

Found with NZDi. We were down in Canterbury for the third time since September for follow-up treatment on NZDi's ongoing health issues. The specialist appointment was on Wednesday and yesterday we did some big city retail therapy in the morning, then allocated some time for a bit of geocaching at McLeans Island in the afternoon.

Today it is time to drive back to Blenheim so I've save a few caches to look for on the trip back. We left at 6.30am so the first part of the trip was in darkness. Once it got light enough we started caching but in the end this was our fourth and final cache of the morning as the weather had really settled in by now.

It was good to get this previously (unlogged) DNFed cache under our belts.

The first cache found on my South Island adventure! Getting out of the big smoke for a few weeks, road tripping around and hopefully picking up a few caches along the way.
I overshot the location a touch on my approach, but once I located the correct item referred to in the hint, the cache was a nice easy find. TFTC!

A quick park and stop on the side of the busy road, glad there was a good parking spot. Thanks

I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.

Many thanks to all owners

Today is our second day traveling the south island and the 22nd day of our travels south. We had spent the night at Lake Elterwater and drove down to Kaikoura after eating a nice breakfast. After visiting the lookout we drove to the start of the Kaikoura Peninsula walkway and chose to go to the top lookout platform first before heading onto the rocks to look for seals. We could not find any seals on the rocks but enjoyed the walk no the less. On our way back we stopped at the food trailer and ate some nice fish before stopping for another earthcache. Afterwards we started heading to our camp for the night but had some time to do a few roadside caches along the way. This was the sixth of them after it got dark. A nice quick find. Tftc.

KrystalKath, Tama the geohound  & I are en-route from Taranaki to North Canterbury to take up our next assignment of seasonal work.
Today we're on the road between Kaikoura and Amberley. Time for a break. Oh look... a cache! Walk the dog to the cache. Tama tried to round up the sheep but in the end just peed on it. Easy find. The road is not too busy today.
Then we retired to the pub for a late lunch.
TFTC That keeps my streak of consecutive daily finds going one more day... #109

We left Feilding n.z nearly two weeks ago and went from picton to reefton over Arthur's pass which we really enjoyed then Christchurch for a couple of days to get a trail done and of course some other caches along the way so far we have managed to get over 300 caches a great effort we thought we would try and average 20 a day.
Now we are getting this cache a nice area to discover a cache stamped the log and placed it back where we found it thank you for placing a cache here and bringing us to this location. Cache is all good here tftc so cute nice spot

A quick find, log is readable but not able to be written on. So left in there and added a small strip of RITR. All good, TFTC Bum.

A few caches after lunch with the family, and before hitting the road bound for Blenheim.
I decided to have a look around Rangiora. Was just a slight detour, and there were a few caches here that will help with certain goals I am still working on. Just a small handful and a few others on the road. Looks like I have been following in the footsteps of another Marlborough cacher for much of this weekend.

Revisiting by night- aha, not the nice hide by the sheep - a bit away from GZ. Log mushy but signed a waterproof label instead. Lots of locals eating out at the hotel and a museum has opened since we were last here.
