Jesswrigley and I were staying for an extended weekend just outside Cape Jervis, and today was a small detour to Victor Harbor and surrounds. We attended the 5 km Parkrun in Encounter Bay, followed by breakfast, and a drive to Port Elliot and then Goolwa, collecting a few sporadic geocaches. We then drove back and stopped off at Ingala Falls and drove to a few oldie caches along the coast before arriving back at Cape Jervis just in time for dinner!
I had seen this cache archived some months ago, but noticed it was still present, and did look like a cool memorial to visit. So whilst we were in the area, we called past this cache to find the Eclipse container quickly (although it did seem rather obvious). It's a real shame that this cache was archived, and a traditional cache should be create to keep this cache living on. Jesswrigley and I stamped the existing logbook, and left in situ just in case future Geocachers decide to visit, thanks.

A great day caching with Anymules down Goolwa way. He wanted to give the cruiser a drive along the beach to grab a cache to complete his 6th D/T loop. Of course there were a few more to find on our way out, back and about.
Time to grab a few Multi caches on our way home. Although not now a multi we still think it could be with a little rework. Instead we will just settle for a quick find.
**Thanks Lilysu&Boxer for this cache. **

Found with Astronaut99 and Beaker on a long weekend camping, kayaking and geocaching adventure up the Coorong and all over the Fleurieu Peninsula. Highlights included seeing hundreds of Pelicans in the Coorong, Jellyfish in the crystal clear waters at Victor Harbour/Port Elliot, visiting a sea cave, and waking up in our swags on Australia Day to see the silhouette of kangaroos! Thanks
Escaped home for the long weekend and decided to spend it caching and kayaking around the fleurieu peninsula area. Was a good eventful weekend accompanied by -Beaker-, FerociousFlea and a roaring sun. I really enjoyed this location and memorial so I'm going to give this one a favorite point.

Found with FerociousFlea and Astronaut99 on our trip around the Fleurieu Peninsula for the Australia Day LWE. It was certainly a hot one!!
This was just one of 70 found during the weekend.
Cache was in plain view and was therefore very easily found. An excellent cache that deserves a very rarely given Beaker fave point. I love hounds!!

Found with the geofamily on a fantastic walk along the river. Thanks for bringing me here and tftc
We wandered down for a look and loved this memorial to Man's Best Friend. I especially loved the drinking bowl, so cute. Cache was easily located although my caching buddies almost missed the obvious. TFTC
#2901 After enjoying a good ole pub steak, veg and chips at a nearby establishment, we decided to go for a bit of a wander around the local area. We came across this cache and loved the tribute to our 4 legged friends who served. Out two old geowoofers did not join us this evening, they are feeling a little weary from our holiday activities and are currently resting up. TFTC Lilysu&Boxer.
Sitting on the bench sharing stories with my sister in law... And made a find. TFTC!
Out for a drive and a few short walks with Purrfect Di, Sebastbat and -Alex-.
Although mostly cat people, we did appreciate what the doggies did.
Sucks they couldn't come back - perhaps we should think twice before sending innocents into war...

Was out caching with mogni, Mark and alternika when we found this one. I loved the paw print and the speical meaning regarding this cache. A favourite from the M & M's.
Out for a day of geocaching with Aussie M & M and Alternika.... We stopped for a warming cup of coffee before attempting this one.... the discussion was around what this hide would be on, based on the name.... Still giggling...
Thanks
Thanks
Lost my pen somewhere between pt elliott and goolwa.

continuing on our quick visit to Adelaide and surrounds
overnighted in Victor Harbor
and whilst not planned - it was recommended to us that we go and have a look at the Festival of Wooden boats being held this weekend.
So whilst wandering around I had a look at what caches were around.
Decided to wander over and have a look here ...
nice memorial [^] ... and the dog water bowl
searched in between waves of muggles ... and made it harder by looking in the wrong place first [:o)]
still managed to grab, sign and replace
thanks for the cache

It's nice to be taken to these memorials by geocaching. A lovely touch with the drinking 'bowl' at the memorial so other dogs can refresh themselves as they reflect on the sacrifice of their army buddies.

We drove almost right up to this one! We opened the door and were greeted by a super excited dog! We had to wait until he and his human had gone past. We quickly retrieved the cache, sat down and admired the view for a bit before signing the log book

**In Victor Harbour with Tomboy for a few days**...
A beautiful area with some fantastic caches... We will certainly be returning when the weather fines up...
A short stroll, a short search, found the cache, stamped the log and returned...
I apologise for the generic logs. it in no way detracts from the efforts gone to by the CO's...
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment Lilysu&Boxer...

Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! We are currently on the first section of our journey, which started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island. We are currently on route to Melbourne via Goolwa (where we are at present), Coorong, Mount Grambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. From Melbourne we head to Tasmania for a few days, then back to Melbourne before setting off to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
A nice quick find at Ground Zero. Thanks to the CO for bringing us to this spot and the interesting history that goes with it. Thanks for the cache.

Interesting story that led to the placement of this cache. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Lilysu&Boxer for the cache.
thewhitedoggang were going 4WDing at Goolwa so I asked if I could tag along and they said 'yes'
So muggle partner and I met them and their friends, DJAJ, at the beach and thus started a great day out
We went our seperate ways after the beach run and muggle partner and I almost cleaned out Hindmarsh Island before having lovely fish and chips and chowder for tea at the Coorong Cafe van [^]
18 caches found and there was only 1 DNF before we headed for home.
Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.
A very quick find on a day that alternated between being warm and then cool and then warm and then cool
The log book was pretty full so I took the liberty of replacing it and if the CO wants their log book returned, send me your postal details and I will post it to you.
Muggle partner read the plaque and then stayed on the sit, relaxing, while I walked back along the boardwalk to where we had left Harry.
Then I turned the cache into a driveby as I returned the cache with the new log book and also picked muggle partner up
I'd wanted to bring Brodie today but muggle partner had said no in case we couldn't take him into places.
I'm sure Brodie would have enjoyed this cache in honour of these canines.

Found on a glorious day visiting from our dogs in victor. The fringe was in goolwa and so were the whole spidermonkey clan. Snuck away for a brief walk and made the find. Thanks for the adventure
A lovely memorial for an aspect of the war effort that I suspect many people didn't realize existed!
We were walking from a friend's house to the wharf for some Fringe entertainment and even though there were plenty of people about, none were hanging around GZ.
Unfortunately the log is a bit damp despite the cache being in good condition and the plastic wrapping the log well.

Hi there Lilysu&Boxer.
We found your cache **"Soldiers' Best Friend"** at 9:10:00 AM today, so this now makes our find count 12762.
We are camped at the Goolwa caravan park for a few days & our cache run today took us on a pretty random routeas we traveled around enjoying the sights and the scenery. We ended up logging 14 and DNFing 4.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around 2m from where our GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good condition.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Such a beauitful morning to visit this cache. Watched the steam train leave before finding and signing. TFTC Lilysu&Boxer! An easy multi :cP
Nice memorial for the dogs and good to meet someone who we thought was a muggle but turned out to be a friendly GC . Tftc
Pleasant walk after Cockle Train ride from Victor Harbour. Our first outing in our caravan, staying at Pt Elliot. THTC
Catching up on some very late logs.
Traveling to Victor Harbour for a couple of days with SuperPop we were grabbing a few caches along the way.
On another very cold day with the wind blowing a gale we arrived here and sat in the car waiting for the rain to pass and talking about the other memorials for these dogs.
my mates brother was a handler in Vietnam and leaving his best friend behind had a big effect on him as we are sure it did others.
It is good to see them remembered.
The cache was a nice quick find and our names are now in the log.
Thanks Lilysu&Boxer for the cache.

Out for a fun day caching with ROMA123 and Gemini7.
Parked on the wrong side of the railway tracks and had to find a way to the other side.
Found the cache after having a look at this great monument.

A really easy find (I could see the cache from the footpath). I like the memorial and it is amazing what the dogs did. Cache 4 of 5 for the day. TFTC.
We took the grandchildren out to burn off some of that holiday energy. This was a lovely cache for the children to find and they learnt about our four legged heroes.

We were heading to Middleton for lunch with Mrs C's Mum & Dad and decided to find a few caches along the way from Strath. The Goolwa Market was on today and we were unsure if there would be a break in the muggles so we could grab the cache. Lucky for us the cache was a bit away from all the muggles. Nice spot on the water.

On our SA geocaching holiday we are having a day around Hindmarsh Island and Goolwa. what an interesting aspect of the Vietnam War. Thanks for bringing us to such a place.
On holidays in SA for 10 days of geocaching with my sister JooJoo57. This was our first cache after we came off Hindmarsh Island. Great views. TFTC.
We're lookef for quite a while. I wonder if it hasn't been replaced yet. We'd love to come back sometime been replaced. Sweet monument.
Cache replaced, it is in an Eclipse container and contains a new log book and pencil.
Can I log it as a find??

Six of us all had a good look but had no luck. We ride past here a lot so we will definitely try again.
Beautiful spot! My wife and I loved the tap for the dogs The log was saturated and needs replacing though.
Doing some caching on the way home from Victor Harbor. Hoping to get our 500th cache. TFTC D
Have been around Murray Bridge the last couple of days, and now on our way to Victor Harbour with a brief diversion to Clayton and Goolwa.
