When I mentioned this trip to The Hancock Clan, Mr H asked if this cache was on the list. It soon was! Yeah we added nearly 2 hours to our journey but we all love an old cache, and a sizeable one too. We bush bashed most of the 500ish metres to the cache, using small clearings, animal tracks etc to wind out way up to GZ. It was the first real bit of exercise fore the day, and it was a bit of a struggle but it was all worth it once we reached the top and found the cache that the Hancocks had replaced back in Dec 2017.Thanks to alex for the placement and to The Hancock Clan for the replacement! Our four day boys trip was an 1800km dash from Melbourne Airport into southern parts of NSW, caching in 19 different LGAs. After an overnight near Melbourne airport, the toolman picked us up and we were off. Overnight stops were in Deniliquin, Ariah Park and Albury with a small selection of caches in each LGA unless there some more exciting ones to make us hang around a bit longer. The toolman finally filled his D/T grid. Lots of laughs, lots of insults, a good number of caches, but not enough sleep! Thanks to all the COs that made the trip a fun adventure. Out and about smashing LGAS FOR SSRAT while Him and GOOSE are in Australia,THIS WAS FANTASTIC !!!!!The fact it was a bit of a walk i loved, AND ITS A 2001 cache !We set off with some spare bits just incase wet logbook ect and blew our lungs up going offtrail to head straight up. (wow we are unfit lol)Cache found and signed then headed back down.Photo attached is the well deserved PRIZE of walking up and back GREAT find in amongst a 600km day.TFTC
Day 2 of our trip and this one was another quick find by us before adding our names and then replacing as found and then moving on to the next on the shortlist. This was a mainland trip from Tassie to do a couple of things, we wanted to grab a few LGAs and also the big item was to finish of the DT grid of 1Toolman.We landed late on Wednesday night and after a good night at the Melbourne Novotel Toolman picked up and drove us North for four days of caching before he brought us back on Sunday night, we had a great time with lots of caching and lots of laughs.Found on 25/10/2024 at 16:37:00 thanks to alex for placing this cache for me to find. The Leap Day Mega in Adelaide was a great excuse to drive down from Queensland. This trip has shown me so many new and interesting places as Ive chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites. We were happy to see enough space to pull over with the van so we could make the hike up the hill. We had read about the many spiderwebs but today we were surprised to encounter very few. With the fairly open scrub, it wasnt too difficult to bushbash our way to GZ where we found this old cache neatly tucked away. Thanks to all COs for placing and maintaining these caches for everyone to enjoy.
Tftc Alex, parked the car and van near gate across the road and made a beeline directly to GZ, going wasn't too hard, last bit was a bit steeper.Made the find and enjoyed the view which didn't take long as there was none..No vision splendid for meFavourite point for the age on this cache. Glad it has been kept going
Found It!
A nice walk up the hill here and a quick find once I got to the top. Always great to find an old alex cache to!

On the way to an AWC sanctuary, I had to pull in to find this old cache.
Probably parking in the same spot as everyone else, I went straight up the guts of the hill to the cache. Following the fence line was the easy route in my opinion.
Cache was easy to find. Log was signed and the non-view taken in. After a quick breather I was on my way....long way to go. Glad there are a few oldies left in Aust.

With a day off and only needing to pick up Swimmagurl from Griffith around 5pm, I decided on going the long way to find some caches. Many of these have been on the to-find-list for quite some time now, including the 2001 cache GC2F6F. I started the day by doing a maintenance run on my Different trail. Next I headed off to the Mid-Western Hwy to find the lone caches I haven’t found just yet out that way. When I got into Griffith, I attempted a few other caches that have been on the to-find-list. I found a mixture of both GC and GCA caches today with only one DNF which was on the last cache I attempted. TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found for allowing them to bring enjoyment to the Geocaching Community. TFTC’s
This cache was next on the list to find today and certainly a must find because it was hidden in 2001. I drove up as close to GZ as possible which was about 600 metres away and then I was off up the hill. I'm glad I read past logs otherwise I may have walked into many spiderwebs. After about 10 minutes of walking I found myself nearing the top and soon I spied a possible GZ. After getting there I soon got searching and not long after I had the CIH. After signing duties were completed, I took in the view... I think the nearby nature may have been a thinner in 2001 and could see a lot more of the view. However, I still took a few photos some of which I will post on this log shortly. About 5 minutes later, it was time to head back down the hill to car and head off to the next one. It always great to find an older cache and I hope to find more of them soon. Thanks so much for placing this cache and have a FP.
P.S. This must be one of Australia's loneliest caches because including mine is only 71 finds in 21+ years. 30 of the found logs, were in the last fiveish years. This means 41 finds in the 16 before that. Interesting.

Cache 9617 on 28 Jan 2023.
On a road trip from CBR to Griffith to do some wine tasting with geo-man and geo-daughter over the long weekend.
When I was scouting around for caches I might like to grab, I noticed this 2001 cache and it went straight to the top of the list! An early departure from Griffith this morning was in order given the day was meant to get to 40 degrees, and we had our first wine tasting at 1100. Geo-man kindly drove with me for company.
We parked around 550 metres east of the cache like others, and I headed into the bush while Bobl27 had a snooze. The first 250m were easy going, except for the spiderwebs, which is where my hiking stick came in useful! Then a gentle 250m up hill dodging fallen trees and more spiderwebs. The last 50m again was easy going, except for the spiderwebs- do you sense a theme? Cache hide was easy to spot and the cache and log were in good order. I enjoyed the walk and (obscured) vision splendid!
Dropped a path tag, took some photos and then carefully made my way down hill to the car, managing to destroy most of the spiderwebs I had avoided on the way up! Around 50 mins in total for me!
Thanks alex for the cache and the fun! Very happy to have found another golden oldie! Fav point for the old school caching experience!

An old cache we had wondered when we would get to as is the second last NSW 2001 one to collect. Like others we parked about 550 m to the east and followed various animal tracks to reach the summit and distinctive outcrop to make a quick find. Great to see this one still going.

Great views from here.
Decided to make a detour to this one. Didn't realise it was an oldie. Great. Nice slog through the bush.

The amount of times I have been to Griffith and I was completely oblivious to there being a 2001 geocache just up the highway! I accidentally noticed today whilst browsing what was "nearby" given that I had found everything else within earshot of Griffith itself.
As soon as saw it pop up on my map I knew immediately what to do with my 2-3 hours of free time!
So I hit the highway and headed up to this cache, there was one other cache along the way that I was able to detour too before arriving. Pulled off the highway and started the off-track hike, taking the most direct route and following the compass!
The terrain was fairly easy going, a lot better than expected! I thought it would be scrubby and steep but weaving between the trees was quite easy, the main thing I was looking out for was the spider webs! Crossing back and forth meant the uphill factor was pretty tame also!
I soon found myself at the large rocky outcrop in no time, and spotted the tell-tale cache giveaway! I think it would be impossible to not find this cache with how obvious it is
Signed the cache and replaced, thanks Alex! What a great bonus for this trip!

We are really enjoying our travels and finding caches as we make our way homewards to Qld after attending the mega in Wangaratta. This oldie was on our ‘must find’ list. And find it we did. After a walk up the hill we soon saw where the cache was. Not hard at all.
Cache is in good condition.
Thank you Alex.

Headed away for a bit of a post lockdown trip to central west NSW. My main goal for the trip was to find GC2F6F (2001 cache), but as always I couldn't drive past as if it wasn't there. This was one of the many caches I found on my road trip.
After 20 years of caching I finally made it out to this 2001 cache. Arriving late in the day I parked about 600m from GZ, giving myself a contoured uhill climb to GZ where I quickly found the cache in good order. After the formalities and a few pics I returned to car where I camped just up the road. This was find 21000 Yippee!
Thanks to the CO's for hiding your cache and contributing in a small way to the fun I had.

Adelaide Trip. May 2021. Day 10. This was the last day of the trip away, and it took me from to Hay to home via Rankin Springs and Cootamundra. I climbed a hill I have been avoiding for years and arrived home with plenty of time to unpack before dark.
This was not a long walk, and I must have been quite lazy not to give it a go in the past. Today I just set out and walked up the hill to this one. Not much to see from up there, but at lease the cache was not too hard to find when I was there.
Thanks for the cache alex

A long weekend brings with it a weekend of camping and caching. fitzy_1965 and I decided to do a loop from Goulburn out to Naranderra, Griffith, Condoblin and back home so I could pick up the last few counties out that way.
Heading from Griffith to Condoblin today. This was a must do on our list for this trip. Parked about 500m away, packed up our supplies as the day was getting warm and headed up the hill. You are correct that there isn't much of a view but we were certainly happy to reach the top and make the find.

21,688. Found with minniek during our October Long Weekend Outback Adventure.
Day 3 of our October Long Weekend Outback NSW trip. After packing up camp we headed off for more caches. This was the next on the list for me. This was one of the main aims of this trip. Such an old cache with very few visitors over those years. Last year I pulled up on the road, looked up, and kept driving. This trip we were determined to head up and find it. So off up we went. It actually wasn't such a bad climb, and after about 550m we arrived at GZ for a quick find. Yay !! We sat and relaxed for a while enjoying the non-views, then headed back down to continue on our way.
TFTC Alex !! Awesome cache and a Favourite Point !

We had a picknick at the base of the hill and then climbed it! We didn’t expect it to be so challenging! Finding the cache was easy but finding our way back.... less easy. And I saw two large dog-like beasts in the far! I am reading The Game Of Thrones and was sure it were direwolfs! Adventures! And now hopefully we get to our next camping spot before dark!
This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 10478.
This was originally planned for 2018 ad we did our lap around Australia but a breakdown put a stop to it. So today after a very long day, in 44 degree heat I thought it was time to give it a try. The cache as a simple find and the view was remarkable but it was simply too hot.
Thanks Alex for the cache.

First cache of day three after stopping in Hay overnight. Arriving the hill looked worse than it ended up being, the slope gentle in its accent. Lots of winding and stepping though to clear through the many dead small trees and branches that lay on the ground. Cache was soon found, the ridgeline rocks are quite cool. Not a lot in the way of views but hey, this is a 2001, that's awesome enough!
Trip log... GreyHams log says it best, in all its glorious detail... so it really is, 'What he said!'
With GreyHams we set out for another chapter of our caching challenge... To find all the counties in NSW. We flew into Adelaide early Friday morning with a return plane from Melbourne Monday night. Taking advantage of some super cheap car hire driving one way from Adelaide to Melbourne. Of course, as a four day road trip it leads into collecting as many counties as was possible as we pass through SA and Victoria as well, with a few side trips for those that were close enough.
The counties a high priority but many caches of interest, the oldies are always great, about 16 2001 caches found plus many others just as old. Web Cams, virtuals, great DT which would see us complete our fifth loop of the DT grid, large caches and lots of regular sizes too. The trip list also included a cache type of each we were missing for each state as well.
Simply, if we stopped for a cache that had made it onto the list, it was not just any random cache, it was selected for a quality of some type we were seeking.
One of the harder things about caching after flying somewhere is that all the TOTT are left behind...usually! So it just had to be done and we took an esky with us on the plane for all those fabulous cold drinks along the way.
The thing I love the most is that we also took a ladder with us on the plane too!
We had targeted the 'on your bike' wherigo series, so many puzzles, so many hours of them so the ladder was important if we wanted to find all the high DT, up the tree caches... which we did! Later in Ballarat we went 'above and beyond' with the ladder once again. A truly essential item to have, we may now need to invest in that inflatable Kayak for future adventures too!
Perhaps it must be said that our route was the least direct way we could have traveled via the Hay Plains and Griffith, but covered a lot of road, counties and locations leading to yet another great trip. Although a number of park and grabs, made closer by our reliable and tough SUV, we also managed a lot of walks, hills, bush, and just a great variety as we explored the different areas.
We crossed the Murray river many times, a lovely healthy looking river system. After our recent trip from Adelaide to Sydney, via Broken Hill and Bourke the dry rivers out there are a very sad sight compared with the Murray.
With so much achieved that we had set out for it was a very successful trip but also an enjoyable one with many memories made and a new batch of stories too! Thanks to all the CO's for there caches that lead us in our travels.

This was a tougher than expected walk up to this. the trees arent thick and the slope not too steep, buts its long enough, steep enough and trees/logs enough that overall it was tough. This was the most northerly find we made on the trip

Aquilus1 and myself are on a mission.... to collect all of the counties in NSW! but how to get to those 'hard to reach' ones from where we are in Canberra? It would be an awfully long round trip. The answer was supplied in the super cheap car rental deals available if you drive one-way from Adelaide to either Sydney or Melbourne... I guess too many cars do it the other way and the cars need to get back somehow. Flying to ADL on points meant fuel was by far the biggest transport cost we paid for.
This trip is actually trip number two.... to drive from ADL to MEL, via Hay & Griffith! Yeah, thats logical! It was fun explaining where we were going to people, we got a lot of strange looks. The first trip was ADL to SYD, via Bourke. The bonus of course is we have also cleaned up a lot of SA & VIC counties as well.
OK, so primary goal is counties but we of course had 5 or 6 goals. Oldies was definitely a priority, I think we picked up 16 hides from 2001 on the trip along with lots of 2002-2006's. D/T of course is never overlooked and we did well there, I think we will almost complete our fifth loop from this trip. Webcams, Virtuals and Wherigo's were all targetted and finally getting all cache types in each state.
Day 1 was us arriving in ADL at sparrows, with a ladder and esky that we checked in and driving as far as Barmera. We cleaned up the 'On Your Bike' series where the ladder really fulfilled its purpose (I never want to see another online jigsaw again!) and even stopped to grab the LBH on the way out.... after 9:30pm, and after I attacked the dirt road with my body and left a lot of skin on it. Note to self: dont lunge at dirt roads! Luckily the hotel in town was open and we obtained fine lodgings. The floor creaked when I looked at it, or breathed, or changed my mind, but the bed was the finest.
Day 2 was driving to Hay, apparently on their biggest day of the year! No motel had rooms but luckily the new hotel that was supposed to open next week was forced into opening on the very day we arrived.... I like fresh sheets but how about a bed that has never been slept in! The crossed the Murray about 5 times and it was always impressive. We saw the country side change hugely from Rivers, Mallee and the Hay plain.
Day 3 was going from Hay, around Griffith and actually turning south towards Melbourne.... it felt like a long way! We cleaned up a bunch of the counties, in fact all of them, west of and including Naranderra. My map on Project-GC is going to look so green! We got as far as the outskirts of Bendigo, stopping at the first Motel we saw.... it was better than it looked!
Day 4 was getting to the airport, which we did with heaps of time to spare. Checkin closed a huge 18 minutes after our arrival. Damn, we could have grabbed another cache in that time. Ladder back in its box and checked in. I love the fact we took our own ladder!
Now safely back at home I am already suffering from caffeine withdrawal, but thats the price you pay for living on Coke for 4 days.
Sorry for the long generic log, but it was a fun trip and I wanted to share.

Day five of our journey from Innes Park ( Home) to St Arnaud. Saturday night in Goondiwindi after driving 765 Klm. Sunday Night in Bourke after driving 654K. Monday Night in Dubbo 475Klm and Tuesday night still in Dubbo. Wednesday night we are in Hay after 564Klm.
Apologies fort boiler plate logs. Arrived and soon found. Quick find. TFTC

Caching in the area we found this one on the way.
Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Nice little hill climb for an old Alex cache. Always very worthwhile. Good regenerating break as we head across the centre of NSW. TFTC yet again Alex
I was visiting a recently set up banding site at Ungarie for the weekend, and fortunately had Friday off so decided to take a very circuitous route and camp near Rankins Springs to pick up a few caches. The aim was to get 5 cache types in 8 LGAs to beat my record for the latter, and to add some numbers to my total. In the end I got 38 caches with 2 DNFs (only one logged), 7 local government areas (still beat my best) and 2 bonus FTF as well (1 of the DNFs would have been a 3rd - and could have got 2 mores if I had decided to go for a walk). So was pretty happy with that and I would like to thank all the COs for their placement and maintenance.
Wsaan't going to go for this one until I realised how old it was - my second oldest so far (and both have been placed by the same CO - who is still out caching!). So parked on the road and then headed up the hill as the sun was setting (over the other side). Quite a few flowers here - a couple of species of orchids and an interesting Goodenia. Enjoyed the walk and quickly found the cache - only 48 logs in nearly 18 years! Followed an old fence line down on a more direct route and enjoyed the nearly full moon rising in the east.

This cache is one of the old NSWs caches that we have had on our must do when in the area list for a very long time. Today was the day.
We parked on the side of the road 530m away and made our way up the gentle slope at times following animal trails and at other times following our GPS. We were glad there was very little plant growth on the forest floor. This meant we could easily see the fallen trees and saplings. The higher we went the more any view we had was obscured by the trees. We reached the top after a very short rock scramble where we quickly spotted the hide.
It was good to find the container and contents in good condition but disappointing that the original container and log book have been lost.
Thanks for this cache Alex. We enjoyed the walk up as it gave us a chance to explore the forest vegetation - so different from that of our own home state, Tasmania. We were glad there was no under growth as it made for easy walking. Certaintly a favourite for this trip.

Had a hot walk air full of flies to the geocache. I imagined it'll be longer way, wasn't so bad. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Estonia.
The closest I could park seemed way too far away for a 2.5T, but nevertheless with a vision splendid of a smiley waiting for me at the top I set off. After a lengthy trek I eventually arrived at GZ and completed my quest, but where was that other vision splendid? A mere glimpse of the surrounding countryside was all that I could see. Now for the return trek. Quite an adventure all round. TFTC Alex
Wazza9 has been looking to do this one for sometime, we were on our way to The Rock, came this way to find the cache. Parked the car and van, walked up following the animal trails, arriving at GZ I quickly found tge container, surprised the local farmer had signed the log book. Signed log and replaced. Tha ks to alex for maintaining thus cache and The Hancock Clan for replacing the container recently.
TFTC,
Heading west for a few days caching with locals around the Wagga Wagga area.
Day 2 is heading out to The Rock via this old 2001 cache. It is on my must do to find all available NSW caches from 2000/2001.
Parked about 560M from GZ and made our way through the scrub.
Enjoyed the walk but surprised that the view was only visible from the top of the rock over the trees.
Found an interesting log entry that I photographed and included with this. A big thanks to The Hancock Clan for repairing the cache.
Visited trackables, left one and added a favourite.

This has been a target cache of ours for a long time, and ended up being our final find of a personal challenge to find all 2000/2001 published caches in NSW.
After noticing recently that the cache needed some maintenance, we contacted the CO to let him know that we'd be happy to replace it as we were planning on a visit soon. Well today was the day...
We'd been camping at Lockhart for a couple of nights on our summer road trip, and just had to detour here before heading north. It was a very hot afternoon and the walk up to GZ was hard going in the heat, but worth it. The cache was easily found but it had deteriorated and the lid was missing. The contents were all over the place and it looked as though an animal had gone through most of it. Unfortunately there was no sign of the logbook but we salvaged anything else we found on the ground.
We replaced the cache, logbook and pen with a decent size regular container, very similar in size to the original. Hopefully it will get many more years maintenance free.
Thanks Alex for placing this classic cache that has stood the test of time. A favourite point from us. TFTC!
Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

Thanks for the cache alex, this was a good stop to break up a road trip. The cache isn't in such good condition though. TNLN
As part of my mission to find all the currently active 2000/1 caches I planned a western journey to coincide with a catch with friends who have moved to Grenfell.
So we drove and drove and drove to park about 600 metres from GZ. Then it was a rough and rocky walk to a dry creek crossing about 300 metres in. Then it was a climb complete with rocks and dead trees. At the top I was lucky to find an exposed cache for an easy find.
After reading the old, original log it was hidden with a bit more camp and the descent was made. Returning to the car the temperature read 42 degrees!!!
A lovely hike for the promised filtered view.
Another old cache down! Four to go!

Nice walk up there... Might be better when it's not 35 degrees but I figured since I was driving past it, might as well! TFTC!
We found this cache on our trip to Adelaide with team Seffnjarah. A good time was had by all. Thanks for placing this geocache.
Day 19 of team Seffnjarah and team Mickjor's trip to Adelaide and beyond. On the homeward legs now.
After overnighting in Echuca, we were heading for West Wyalong for our next stay.
I had spotted this one as it filled a hole in my Jasmer Grid so had it on my to-do list for the day. I went on ahead along the side road to see if team Mickjor would make it towing their caravan. A nice wide track meant access was not a problem, and even the recent rains had not made the road hard going either. After arriving at our chosen parking spot, the male members of the teams headed off uphill, while the females remained with the cars (no doubt enjoying the air conditioning).
While there was no direct track to GZ we managed to follow a maze of anilmal tracks that, although zigging and zagging their way to the top, made going a heck of a lot easier. Upon arriving at GZ, Jor had to be warned where to step as hisl climbings to get a better view almost had him stepping on the cache. No problem with the find and managed to glimpse the odd good view through the nearby trees. TFTC

[:(!] Went to Griffith via West Wyalong to visit two of my grandchildren and their parents for part of the weekend, picking up a few caches along the way and this was one of them, parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, on arrival at GZ and the cache was located, it was in hand in a matter of minutes, nice 500 meter walk to the cache.

When I saw that there was a 2001 cache on my route, I had to stop for it, even if it did delay my journey to the Oz Mega in Murray Bridge a little.
I looked for the track mentioned in some of the earlier logs, but never managed to find it. At times I thought I was on a track, but it soon petered out again to scrub. Doesn’t matter, 500m odd of scrub bashing is easy enough, and I managed to make it up to the cache and back to my car within half an hour.
The weather was a bit warm for the climb, so I appreciated the nice rocks near GZ, to stop for a rest & a drink of water before heading back down.
I see what you mean about the lack of view from GZ, but I did notice on my walk back down that I was getting some quite nice views back the other direction.

This cache has been on my to-do list for quite a while as it was an old school geocache. As Webby had already found it, he pushed me out of the car and said go up that hill. I started off on a track, but with 200 metres to go it was just a slog up the hill. Thankfully I saw no snakes, but I did get some great glimpses of the view through the trees as I climbed higher and higher. Once at the top, I had a quick breather and a drink and then found the cache, which is still in great condition. Thank you for another classic cache alex.
We accompanied O319 on the trek through the bush and up the hill for his 3000 find. The mosquitoes were bad and the walk difficult but it was a satisfying find. TFTC.
Followed the obvious track to GZ and a made an easy find....
No, not really. The more serious story was that we were looking for a good cache for my 3000th and worked out that of all the caches out this way that it would be this one... Justjessie and I bashed our way up through the spring growth to see a view that's well, could be better... Great to see a cache like this still there after all those years.

Back near home there's a challenge cache that involves finding NSW's oldest caches. I looked at the list, and realised I had only found one, and had kind of forgotten about it. And now, unexpectedly I have two! Left the GeoWife and GeoKids in the car, and then ran up with GeoDog in tow.
Didn't have a chainsaw with me to improve the view unfortunately

This cache was the main reason I decided take an extended detour from Newcastle to Albury today. With one of the few remaining 2001 caches still listed out this way...I drove most of the day to park within 500m of the cache...and then had a sleep in the car to get up nice and early to head up and find it. The walk up was a nice way to start the morning...and once at GZ...the cache was found in a nice little spot. Unfortunately the cache has a broken clasp, and may need to be replaced at some stage, but I didn't have one on me as the previous logs simply didn't mention it. All in all though, the cache is holding up OK. A great spot indeed, and great to have it on the found list.
Gratias Alex.

How could I resist, how could ANYONE resist this beauty of a cache...
Tantalizingly close to civilization, but just removed enough to make it a worthwhile effort, and a Vision Splendid (or suggestions thereof) to reward you at the top. Perhaps I'll have to come at night next time for the 'wondrous glory'!!
Thanks alex for bringing us here. It was a relatively easy climb up to the top. As with others, I didn't find an obvious track... Instead there are hundreds of tracks... I followed the animal highways most of the way up. Only one bush was whacked in the finding of this cache I think perhaps if you find the fence-line just south of the bend in the road, you can follow that much of the way...
The cache is in great condition, but bring some extra food to feed those flies .
I reckon this might be the oldest physical cache that I've ever found... I never would have expected it to be here!!

This cache was a must do for us Alex. An oldie but a goodie. The climb took us about 30-40 mins up and back. The views were splendid (well when I stood on the rocks at GZ). Pics attached. just what were you doing up here. We can talk over our next red........
A day of caching from West Wyalong - the town just west of Wyalong down the road to Mildura A road trip with a chance to stretch the legs with a cache is a good thing. A day of plastic dinosaurs in caches - it had everything!!
Thanks to alex and clear skies from TeamAstro.

Nice walk up the hill. Lots of prickles, but geokids still smiled! Enjoyed the view and the many small flowers growing everywhere. Even found a hatched emu egg and a big daddy kangaroo spying on us. TFTC
Found by Pixieb Jordon and Mitchell. Nice day, a few flies.

Found, without GPS, after a long walk up a hill and using frustrating maps. Get to the top look for a rock ridge, but there are thousands. Anyway nice walk.
I am sure that the vision is splendid but I am going to log a 'Freddo DNF'. It was getting towards dusk, I was sitting on 110 kph and had to get to Hay so no chance of finding this one today.
Wow, that was a nice walk... and you're right about the trees, they do spoil what would be a beautiful vista! However it still doesnt take much from what is a great view.
I'll echo the comments about it being perhaps more than a 2.5 terrain, but i'm not exactly what anyone would call "peak fitness" either. (Perhaps there was an easier trail to the top, and I didnt need to bush bash quite as much?)
While sitting and reading the logs, I read a comment by the GeoMonkeys that reminded me of a certain GCA cache... There was certainly no-one else around, so I took the opportunity to nude-up and claim a smiley!
A great capping off to a nice days drive for a few caches...

Enjoyed the walk up on a warmish day. Got half way back down when I realised I'd left my hat up there! The thought crossed my mind whether to leave it as a swap, but I ended up going back to retrieve it! Thanks Alex.
the sky gods hated me this morning i climed up the hill then down the other side then the arrow swung round and pointed back up the top! found fairly easily.

Actually it really is vision splendid - the only bit of bushland left in a sea of farms & the wildflowers were blooming beautifully. We even came across native orchids in flower. Magic. Long time between visitors but the cache is in good nick. Thanks for showing us this lovely piece of bush.
Ah nothing like a dawn stroll through the great Australian scrub. I had to take the umbrella along for this one though [:o]
Heavy showers and low cloud were making for a truly remarkable bushwalking experience way out here in the proverbial middle of nowhere
So much for sunlit plains
Took a blimp and left a stock car racer.

The view was OK but the climb up to GZ was HOT!!

Do you own every cache along this route Alew?

Luckily it was not too hot for the walk up the hill and also not too many flies about. Kept an eye out for snakes however! Easy find in an obvious place and the 600m walk from the road was not too difficult in the drought conditions. Weren't too sure about stepping over the fence, but "Hay", what the heck.
Beautiful morning for a jog to the top. Not so good to see the country so dry.
Took carpenters pencil and chopsticks and mean't to leave texta and earplugs!! I found them in my pocket when I got back to the ute [:o]! Running short on time so will visit again soon.
Cache is fine, though crack in the lid edge had let water in at some point. Left is so it will drain and stop H2O getting in.

Was staying in the area so took a trip out to get this one. We didn't have a map for it, just turned the GPS on and "Hey, there's a cache only 50km away!", which is nothing when you have driven about 600km from Sydney. So the challenge was on, and we did it. Got a little bit lost on the way because one road was flooded and we couldn't get through, but that just made finding it even more satisfying.
Thanks Alex.
Thanks Alex.

Being in the area we decided to track it down. Found it once we reached the summit & defeated an army of flies. The cache was in good condition. Found by Carol after being guided there by Ray & Greg. Left a music CD & took paintbrush & scour pad. Aeroguard strongly advised for this cache.
[Found by HOTANDSWEATY. Dale, Melanie and Catherine aged 6.
This trek was only 600 metres off the road, but it was a hard trek through moderately rough bush.
We found the cache without any problems.
Water had damaged many of the items in the cache. We used the sock protectors to dry the cache and we rebagged everything. We took most of the items inside (as they were damaged) and replaced them with new items. ####We left Porky Pig in this cache. Porky originated in Inner Brisbane 1 cache from Albyalbatross.
Please advise Albyalbatross of his progreess#### This cache is located 16 kilometres from a farm that my Grandfather used to own. Whoo Hoo !!
This was my first cache and it was a bit more than I expected.
I thought mabey something hidden under a rock by the side of the road ? No Way !
Six Hundred meters up the side of a hill, off a highway in the middle of nowhere.
42 degrees C and teaming with flies to boot !
So where's the next one ??
