The response to my recent email to the local shire regarding the maintenance of the steam engine was;
"Hi Kate,
As per Wendy’s original email the steam engine is currently undergoing restorative work and will be put back in Apex Park once this work is complete. The work required is specialised in nature given the age of the steam engine and this may take some time to complete. It is anticipated the steam engine will be back in place sometime in August or even early September.
Kind regards
Simon"

We are waiting for an email update from the local council, who have advised us that the Steam Engine is undergoing repairs, and hopefully will receive a reply this week to confirm when this is complete.
The Steam Engine has been temporarily removed for maintenance, and will be returned when finished. It will be interesting to see if the cache stays in place or not. Hopefully it will be available again soon.
Got to zero on GZ & they have taken the engine away!!please let us know if anyone finds it!!
At first I thought it was a normal stick but then I realized the stick was it.(TFTC)
Found with my son Felix and friends.

Thanks for this cache, found whilst on a rest day on a bike ride from Seymour to Albury, via Mansfield and Bright.
Also enjoyed introducing our riding friends to geocaching.

Find#1513
one of several found on a recent trip through the High Country.
This was an enjoyable break along the way as we headed into town to grab a few last-minute supplies before hitting the tracks..
I searched hard with no luck, then realised I was at the wrong end of the engine - once at the right area, son_of_steptoe spotted the hide too quick for me to make the find.
A great bit of history, thanks - gotta love old engines like this.

Not an easy one that's for sure. Nice dirty hands after finding it. Thanks de ja vu!
Holy jeezuz!!! This was a hard one...in the pissing rain covered in rust and moss etc..with nippy68 who found it just before I gave up... 'check all the holes, it's not a magnet'.
Out for a day of caching in the hills around Tallangatta with Debs22. Hopefully this will be one of many and so the need for a generic post. Many thanks for taking us into this beautiful countryside. And beware the rusty edges! TFTC
Found while out caching with mum on a brilliantly sunny day on the long weekend. Sorry for the generic post doing quite a few today!

We'd finally arrived for our family long weekend after a day of driving and sightseeing... and eating. And the eating was not yet over. Pizzas were ordered while we got our bearings around town, and gave short-stuff a bit of a play in the excellent playground by the river, then the girls took the car back to our accommodation, while I walked back in the twilight.
The torch came in handy for locating this clever hide, so I chalked up one last grab for the day's adventures. Thanks de ja vu. Now, to build up a bit of an appetite...

8005 + 971 = 8976. Found during a 3 day visit to the region with Sol de Lune, Albida33 and Mtrax.
The main event for our visit was the HSS Series with many many more in between. SDL says it all in his log. All my fault really !! Lol...
The best thing was that all 100 were found with only a few hiccups which were our fault. Very happy with 100 + finds !
Once we finished the HSS Series we continued towards Bright. This was a nice quick find at GZ - happy with that as these can be rather tricky !
Thanks de ja vu !!

Beechworth HSS trip March 2014 with Mtrax, Sol de Lune and Fitzy. Most of the journey was made up of the HSS puzzles which were all solved before the trip with very little input from me. The collections were made on bike or by car. The various bike legs were the highlight and were very enjoyable. We did manage many other caches in the region and all in all it was a great trip with friends with a good mix of caches and great food at the local pub. Thanks.

A group of us Canberra Cachers (Sol De Lune, Fityz, and Albida33 ) heading down south for a run around Beechworth, mainly to find all the HSS series but we took the opportunity to gather up some other nearby caches , Completed the HSS and some of the MRT series with a mixture of Bikes and Car as well as some short walks. Found a bit over 200 caches that weekend
oh noes a difficult hides and these type can get real hard but I spotted a likely tell tail and it was bang on phew it could have been tricky

Next stop on my Tour le Bright this morning was this delightful park in the middle of towne
Star of the show is the olde steam engine
I scratched around for a while, but couldn't find a cache in the obvious places.
"Use the clues, If", said a little voice in me head.
So I did
That made finding the cache just slightly easier
And 5 minutes later I finally had the cache in me paws !!
Tricky little blighter [^]

After several attempts twelve months ago we made the great discovery today at 1.45pm. We were not going to let this cache defeat us. Thanks very much jindi kid for the thought that you put into this cache. TNLN TFTC

The Wenchette has gone camping so I've loaded the Wench on her broomstick and we're zooming around the Ovens Valley for a few days...
After checking in to our accommodation we wandered toward the Alpine for tea and stopped to find this cache along the way.
Thank you for the cache jindi kid.
#2598th @ 1923hrs and 44th of 45 for the day.

Wow,Such good Camo.It took us a while but when we looked at the logs and the hint the cache was in our hands in a few minutes!Found on our road trip!TFTC
Finally found the cache after behaving like a 4 year old poking every nut and bolt on the engine! A closer inspection of the front revealed the hide. Nice work.
Had a few issues locating any caches around Bright - either muffled or just couldn't find so was happy to strike some luck with this one. TFTC.
Don't know the front from the back!! Looked at the photos to establish the difference and still couldn't find it
I found it first and gave clues to dad and another cacher we met. A tricky yet clever cache for us today.
misschief18 and I went to this location twice but even after almost dismantling the hide we still couldn't find the cache. Moved, pushed, pulled and twisted every piece of rusty 'stuff'

No luck for us today. Looked, pushed, pulled and peered all to no avail. Even went back again, but still came up with nothing.
Took a while, was overthinking the clue a little. There were quite a lot of movable parts but none with a cache attached. Finally I looked harder at the first place I looked and bingo the cache was found!
Tricky clue.

I was in Bright for a couple of days, didn't have a lot of time to go cache hunting, but as the old saying goes, "Don't Let a Chance Go By". So when I did have a chance a cache I would hunt.
It was a quick find after I read the hint.

This one took me two attempts to get it. The first time I walked around and around, poking and prodding to no avail. Somewhat annoyed, I wandered off and found "Pedaling back through time series #1" cache.
To get back to my motel I had to walk back past this cache again...I had to have another look. This time I eventually noticed something a little out of the ordinary...yes, it was the cache.
Thanks Jindi Kid for a cleverly hidden cache...and yes a new log sheet is required.

We found this fast. But first we need to think the front is the back.
Then the 8 year old sees some thing that seems odd.He pulls it and he has found it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great spot. It took a while to find but found it in the end. It definitely needs a new log. TFTC

We were all climbing over it looking for the elusive GZ but geoson had the eagle eyes to spot it. Many years since this beauty has moved anywhere. TFTC
We did a lot of circle work around the steam engine and yep there are quite a few rusty holes on it!! Kept coming back to the most obvious rusty hole and Rock's sharp eyes spotted something out of place. Cache in hand. Miserable cold weather so not too many muggles about. Lovely spot. TFTC
Mum is always our good luck charm (even though she didn't even find it!). Found it on our second visit.
She also doesn't know that we can edit the log after she has posted it

Our third find for the day. Had some trouble until we realised which was the "front" end.
Found after the kids had a great time climbing all over it.Lots of muggles about but none seemed interested in what we were doing.
I love a cache with a bit of a twist. Brilliant hide and lots of fun to look for. Thanks for putting in that bit of extra effort. J from the Lythgo Clan and I had a great time pulling anything that looked loose and eventually I had it in hand. TFTC.
Had us looking for a while but we eventually came across it. Off for coffee now!
It took a while for the penny to drop on this one but then we realised that we had seen a similar one in Dubbo. TFTC.
Used to climb on this as a kid in the early 1970's, it used to be painted up like new. Not anymore. TFTC!! Placed a munzee close by. Wanted to put a cache here but Jindi beat me to it !!
This thing had rusty holes every where which end do I start,
Looked in and that looked like it Yes it was .

Staying at Boyntons Winery for the weekend to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary, I thought it would be nice to hire some bikes and take a ride into Bright. We grabbed some caches along the way, and left a few for the return Journey. In Bright it was the Gala parade and markets, so it was very busy. But nobody noticed us looking around for a few more caches. Had a light lunch before we headed back to Feathertop, stopping at Porepunkah for 1 beer at the pub. What an awesome morning.
Had me looking for a bit, then the misses found it.

Had done the Dawn Anzac Service this morning, so now ready for a day out and about enjoying the change of autumn colours in the valley. This would be a lovely spot on a hot summers day, but a bit chilly as the day draws to a close. We had to return here after having tea in the local pub, as there was too many muggles. It took a bit of searching before geokid came up with the goods to SL. Thanks Happy jini kid for the cache and bringing here.
