Logs
1st DNF on the way back from CH-CH to Nelson. There are roadworks going on at the moment and the road extends 3m from the old road edge. Spotted a few uprooted trees and the rest have been cleared. It didn't look like this when we had an event at the trout and then up the valley for a weekend mid feb! I knew there was one here somewhere, I should have got it then! GZ was a bit messy today, gave it a good look but nothing. It might still be there if it's in a tree where i was GZ out but I'll give it another go next time!
I think this cache is a bit problematic reading the previous logs. No recent finds, I'd say it's gone.
Thanks anyway bumandworker

Been past here many times an heard the history. Today was the first time stopped here. Quite a few muggles around. TFTC
Searched all over, but couldn't find today - and there did seem to be muggles passing by very often which kept disrupting my search.
ZH & Blondie invade NZ 2012!
Our 200th find in NZ, 1st of Day 15
After a big nights caching in St Arnaud I was in the doghouse with Blondie! (it was only 3am), so we covered some KM's and this turned out to be the first cache of the day (heartbreaking to go past so many lol)
Lovely drive!

Nice little hidey hole for this cache, not sure how secure if the river rises as high as it has been known to do.

Found at 6:08 AM GAFF5 in the company of Phetlern. We made this one a lot more difficult than we needed to. GPSr was taking us elsewhere.
Would have like to have seen all of the tents lined up in its heyday.
Thanks bumandworker

Our caching time with Pprass today was controlled by the departure time of the ferry as we left the South Island heading across the Strait. It was interesting to read the information regarding the origin of the area and how gold was first discovered.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt bumandworker.

Nice day for a caching trip from Nelson to Blenheim. Had to hunt around for this one and very hard to be stealthy so just went for it and hopefully not seen! TFTC

Humm, lots of debris but no cache.. lets see if anyone else can find it.. BBear..
Yes, this one is less muggle-visible than the earlier one in the area, especially those having a beer in the pub. Log is about full so maybe the next cacher to find will be carrying some paper, ther is room in the cache container. TFTC
Caching with Holymu. Easy find but nowhere near where it was expected. Coords were faultless. TFTC
We had stopped to look for this cache on our way to Nelson last year, but at that time flooding had either removed or buried the cache. Called in again on our way back to Picton today, and this time the cache was there and we found it. Thanks.

Overnight rain and long grass meant that one of us didn't move frome the car!!!! Hope people are encouraged to read the history of the place and not just draw attention to the cache site!!!

We remeber the previous cache in the park. Nice historic sight. Followed the geotrail to the likely spot. TNLNSL

Spent many hours outside the Trout as it was my fathers local hotel. Sometimes we were allowed inside to view the jug collection on the rafters. Very historic area due to the discovery of gold and would be so much different from today. TFTC
I am back in the south island again geocaching , I am doing a road trip with this Nana and Auntie and having Good time bit disappointed that there areno swap in the small caches I have come across Thank for the Caches
Found while visiting friends camping at Pinedale Camp further up the Wakamarina Valley. Even panned some gold from the river! TFTC

A spot not to be missed, a short detour that is worth it, nice choice of cache placement.

Had to stop at the pub for a beer & a game of pool to prove who's the champion in this duo! Great excuse to stop at a real 'local'. TFTC.
A quick find by myself annd the junior Miesters while Mrs Miester read the plaques. Thanks for bringing me to this interesting location and TFTC.
Quick find, easier to get than the first, no beady eyes here, but the dogs were barking at us. Thanks
I found the cache quickly so I took some time to read the information and discover what each item of equipment did. TFTC.
Good to see this cache back here again after the events at Christmas time. Had to make an early run into Havelock for some supplies and stopped off here on the way back to Pelorus. SL TFTC
Found it but beware of a rather unfriendly publican it took us twice to get this one after being told to go away. But were not going to let him scare us off. TFTC
Bit late logging this one as we left the cache notes in the glove box. Found them during a clean out a few months later.
Nice spot

Nice One!!!!!!!!! Glad to see another cache back at this magic historic little spot. Must have been really something during the gold rush days. That was one big flood. Quick find as new co-ordinates were spot on. Thanks
Good to find this one as we didn't get to find the other cache that was here last time we looked TFTC
Deja vu all over again! Haven't I already been here and knocked this one off? Yes, but no. This is a nice replacement but the previous one was a doozie--shame it went west into the archive. Quick find. TFTC.
As we travelled west from Blenheim the rain finally stopped as we approached Canvastown so it was time to resume geocaching. Interesting to read how gold was discovered in this area. Thanks for the cache.
We seem to be following Tufty today. Interesting place, but the hotel was shut, so still no coffee. TFTC
Met up with BaldEd here again. Thet were just leaving as we arriving.
Cheers for the cache.

A lot of flooding lately, by the look of it, but cache safe and dry. TFTC.

This was a welcome stop on our trip to Blenheim and a familiar place as we have done several older caches in this area - it has a great history and once must have been a bustling place - hard to believe now signed log thanks for the cache
A quick find on a trip over to Blenheim after work. Is so hard to believe sometimes how much our rivers can come up but they surely do. The water was nice and clear and shallow today not like when this area was being swept clear TFTC
That river must have been up incredibly high in the floods with debris well up in the trees. A quick find on a glorious day, thanks.
Stopped here a few years ago in our camper van. Looks like it's all getting back to normal after the floods. Quick find T4tC
We took a look at GZ on the 29th Dec as we drove through behind the workmen clearing the road of all the storm damage and slips. However, there were so many people around and the GPS was pointing to water so we didn't stop then, just a u-turn and back on the highway. Nice to be able to come back now and find the replacement TFTC

Attempted to find this before reading the recent logs. That recent flood was huge to reach the cache location and I presume wash it away. If it is there it is buried in silt.
