Stopped by to check on cache - removed quite a bit of broken glass from the area.Replaced the container and log - was totally full of water.Hopefully will be ok for a while.
Nice quick find on the way home from an event in Kaitoke today. Took photo as lost pen. Tftc
Accidentally grabbed a piece of litter which I thought was the cache initially smhhh my fault. Otherwise, cache all good, no worries! Tftc
Exactly where GZ said it would be. Nice and easy - kids would find this one no sweat!
I was on a bike ride up one side of the river and back down the other. This was my second stop, just after passing a bogan dad out with his young bogan son who was on a mini quad bike busy tearing up the saturated grass and turning it into a lake of mud.
This was a nice quick find, though it was a bit wet (I think - sorry I can't remember exactly which caches I found this day were wet). TFTC.

Nice, quick find with my sister and niece. Wasn't sure if soggy log was really it at first or just rubbish, but could make out geocaching word. Have put in a new piece of rite in the rain paper in a new plastic bag. Put back with old log and guardian. Streak day #98. TFTC
Under the kowhai tree, A VERY WET LOG, glad to see plaque that is in memory of Roy & Jill Lynch of Forest and Bird whose sister Denise I know! TFTC
#2135. A nice evening for a drive and walk along the Hutt River bank. After completing the nearby EarthCache for International EarthCache Day, GB Leader and I stopped to grab this one.
Easy find, but watch out for blackberry. The log is really manky and needs replacing. Nice little cache guardian inside.
Tftc TheB0rg.

A nice quick school holiday find with the boys. Had an enjoyable walk along the river trail from the Silverstream bridge to this cache. There's quite a bit of rubbish around GZ which is a shame. Signed the interesting replacement log left by the previous finder! TFTC
Found on my way home from work this evening. The rock is a lot more buried in foliage than the photo on the cache page shows, but no problem finding it, or the cache hidden there,
The log is damp, but just about signable. It could do with replacing, but that's not an absolute necessity. It was put back as found after being signed.
Thanks for the cache.

The mystery of this rock was solved today. Log very wet but managed to make my mark on it. TFTC # 15,007
My last cache of the day. A little out of my way, especially as once here in a car you need to drive all the way to Silverstream in order to turn arund and head back into Upper Hutt. However, this cache sounded simple and would give me another gemstone that I needed for the Mystery at the Museum promotion. Track along the river was a bit muddy. Nobody but me near GZ, but there were some schoolkids on the shingle bank in the middle of the river further upstream. I was surprised they weren't in school. However, the cache was found in an obvious place. Log was a bit damp: difficult to get the ziplock plastic bags to reseal properly when they are scrunched up I think. I did my best putting it back inside. Then it was off to do some shopping.
Thanks TheB0rg for this cache.
Thanks TheB0rg for this cache.
# 1536 Not the first cache I have found beside a great big historical rock with a plaque. Easy find but a bit damp but still usable. Unusual cache container too! Cheers TheB0rg for this one.
Out for a spot of caching with Gr33nslime. Would not normally pass this way and stop, but it was the evening and the cover of darkness was a great way to conceal our intentions. Great to find that we could drive right up to the cache as well. Gr33nslime had the first go at this one and when straight to the likely hide item. Yes turns out this is an easy cache to find, which is very much appreciated. She rattled off the words on the plaque and it makes sense to me why it is here. There are quite a few of these memorials along the river as different individual’s or groups have helped to add more back into the biodiversity of the area. Thanks for the cache.
I had no idea what i was going to do this weekend but then I got a text to join some fellow geocachers for te weekend to do a trail of caches and this was one on the list to do, we met up at about 9am had a cuppa or two or three then it was time to set off on our way it was a great day to get on the bike for a day on the trails, we came along this one as we went so why not stop and grab this cache aswell it was a quick easy find signed the log and placed it back exactly where we found it, no muggles near or far today so not hard to retrieve, cache was all good here, its an area we had been close to in the past but never actually came to this area, always good to explore a new area especially....../ )
when you have travelled a few hours to get here to begin with. geocaching with 2bulbars today. thank you for placing a cache here, now we better head off to the next cache as the sun is starting to get rather hot and we would like to complete the trail today......./ )

For a long time we have wanted to get some smiley faces along this bike trail and these few days off in the camper were the very excuse we needed to do them. The ride was very enjoyable and very easy with just a little breeze. It was great to see such an array of different hides and to see some of the country side from a different angle. All hides appeared to be in good condition and the co ords were usually spot on
Many thanks for bringing us to this area

It's amazing the number of times I DNF a cache that was found by the previous searcher only to eventually discover that the cache actually went missing in between and it wasn't just that I suck at searching. Since there were only 2 DNFs it was lucky the mega provided an excuse for a maintenance check. Today I returned for another look and despite GZ looking very different from last time (lots of long grass now and the rock almost lost amongst it) the cache was an immediate find in the "natural" place. TFTC.
Picking up a few last caches before catching the ferry home. Nice quick find. Thanks TheB0rg

A nice little walk in the evening to wind down after a busy day, if there is even such a thing in geocaching world! TFTC!
Good to see this one back online in time for the Mega. All good with the find and replaced as found. T F T C TheB0rg
Back on the bike trail again now and same as earlier we got into a good successful routine;
Pedal - Stop - Find- Sign - Replace - Repeat.
Day 1 of the actual MEGA. It's the Saturday and both ricardinho.nz and I were awake early in our respective accommodations and keen as can be to getcon the trail nice and early. We were in the car before 0700 and breakfast at Maccas got us underway prior to a real busy day. We had a River Hutt-side cycle, the events and registration at Cossie Club earlyish before racing off to get all the details required for the Lab caches, attend a few associated events, another bike-ride along the nice and flat Hutt river-side. Finally there was a Flashmob before a 'few more' then the Geo-quiz where the upper South did nicely in a podium position - PHEW! What a day!!
The big day(s) has/have arrived. It's MEGA weekend in Wellington region and the culmination of lots of hard work by the organising committee. Also, not to be forgotten, are the caches of the local, and not so local COs, which help the game to continue and enable the enjoyment of others.
The trip has been planned for a while now and the Blenheim contingent of Ricardinho.nz and myself are coming over early on Friday morning on the Bluebridge ferry (after an early morning (non-) 'event') before returning on same mode of transport on Monday lunchtime.
We didn't manage much caching on the Friday but made up for that with 3 good days after and over 100 finds for the weekend to boost my Wellington region finds past my Nelson region ones and even giving my previously prolific Auckland numbers a 'nudge'.
Over the weekend there was plenty of socialising, sharing of ideas, opinions and interesting conversations and a podium spot for the Geosaders quiz team. Allied up with some new caching friends and remet several other rarely seen friends from other areas of the country. A good weekend all around and even the weather played nicely with a sunny outlook each of the days, without it being too warm and uncomfortable. Plenty of events attended, pleasant walks experienced, a couple of bike rides along the Hutt River as well as a smattering of GROET caches for which we were GLAD.
Thanks to all of the cache owners for their hides and listings and looking forward to the next time I visit the area to continue the enjoyment.

Sorry, no idea on who these people are, but thanks for the cache! Found on the return leg along the less populated (cache-wise) side of the river. Thanks theborg.
Mega Saturday, and Capperz and I have a few goals for the day. All lab caches to solve, plenty of events targeted to get to, and the most different types in a day for me. Add in that a bit of pathtag swapping (finally!), and it was pretty successful.
First mega for me, and loved the experience. Kept bumping into a few familiar faces on our travels and met a few new ones as well. We also didn’t embarrass ourselves at the quiz later on in the evening. Thanks to all COs, especially those keeping maintenance up on their caches especially for the event.

Sadly this was a DNF. The area around the rock has had some attention (tidying up) , and weeds and gorse cleared. I wonder if the strimmer has dislodged/destroyed the cache. I had a good search round with Team Geocacher Mr. T to no avail. There's a fair bit of broken glass around, so take care if you are checking this one out.
Most grateful to the previous finder for returning the cache in such a way that we were not attacked by the prickles (but still in the correct location) - I had last been here nearly two years ago and DNFed the cache then, and reported at the time on the prickle problem and the risk that it would get worse. The hide as it is now seems quite satisfactory and is unlikely to be seen by muggles.
It was pretty miserable weather on the way here but it cleared remarkably just as I arrived at the new cache just up the trail a bit so was a pleasant walk down to this one.

Another quick find on a bike ride from Petone and back.
Found in place but annoyingly distracted by blackberry prickles.
Placed this time away from most of the prickles.

TFTC. After the DNF at a nearby cache, It was a great relief that this one was so easily located. Signed, and then a quick dash back to a wet and grotty Wellington...
Out on a biking-caching adventure with Geokitten007 and Beanadventures.
We were supposed to be training for the weetbix tryathon, but unless they have added in geocaching (and made it even more awesome) I don't think this regular stopping is helping!
A nice quick find. TFTC.

(Sorry for the late log, I've just realised I've missed logging a few).
(Sorry for the late log, I've just realised I've missed logging a few).
We are "training" for the weetbix tryathon by biking along the river trail.. Although it has been pointed out that they probably won't stop every 1km or so to do a cache during the triathlon so this isn't the best training. Oh the wisdom of 8 year old! This was a nice and quick find - although a bit prickly. Tftc. Found with geokitten007 and adventurebear007.
Going for a run round the block while staying with family. Home tomorrow on ferry and long drive
#1212. Having spent a few hours scrambing around in the hills to the west I decided to finish off today with a few easier caches along this gravel road by the river. The GZ was easily spotted and the cache soon after. The container was not that well hidden. Signed the log and put the cache back with a bit more cover. TFTC
On a mission to Upper Hutt from Porirua, so collected my first Hutt caches along the way. Very easy find in a lovely area. Thanks.
Great little spot beside the Hutt River but a little cool for a picnic today. Cache testing beautifully and needed extraction tool.
This one has eluded me for some time. Having read the previous comments I had another go and did some digging. Sure enough there it was. I didn't rebury just put it back in same position with a standard conceal. TFTC

Tricky. Scrabbled about in the flax and blackberry for about 20 minutes whilst avoiding drive-by muggles and runners. Plenty of empty beer bottles but no cache. Gave up as it was time for breakfast and then secondses.
Will return to continue with this one.

A quick look while out walking the dog. DNF. Have to come back with out the dog to look properly//
