Last day of Cancon for Finalf29 and I only have a couple of hours before I have to pick him up... had a mixed bag of Virtuals, Multis, Trads, ALs and DNFs.
I wasted a bit of my time on this one...
* first didn't check the activity to see all the DNFs,
* second parked on the wrong side of the road,
* third entered the wrong gate,
* fourth took the huge loop track around to GZ,
* fifth tried at one point to bushbash across but the grass was too high and I was worried about snakes
* and sixth got to the most obvious GZ to find it missing... sigh.
OK thinking of the positives... I got a walk and I found a shorter track back to my car. Thanks

We found where we are pretty sure it is supposed to be (there is clear evidence of something having been there) but no cache
Found while on a 3rd-year uni field trip for a biodiversity conservation class to Justice Robert Hope Park! We were learning about biodiversity offsets and how the adjacent residential development and subsequent offset in this park were approved by the government under the EPBC Act. The proposal definitely improved the quality of the critically endangered box gum woodland in this park, but there were some issues that contravened the principles of biodiversity offsetting.
There were about 70 of us students being guided around the park by our lecturer, and he came to a stop at this large boulder where we all gathered around. After giving another spiel about the park, he says:
"Well the other thing about this site, *student* can you see anything underneath where your foot is? Just look underneath that rock. That’s a geocache - a friend of mine and our kids probably 10yrs ago put this geocache here. And the geocache is called Yellow Box. It used to be a yellow box. When my kids were young, we were right into geocaching!"
Being the only official geocacher in our class I rushed over and signed the log! A field trip and a cache to boot - how good! TFTC

#757 Headed out this way tonight with a specific cache on our radar. We weren’t having too much luck there though and knowing we both still needed to find ourselves a cache for the day so we moved along to here to make a find. I’ve never been in here before and although I couldn’t take in its full beauty in the dark I can say the area was full of the aforementioned frogs as they croaked away in unison with the crickets. Having learnt a bit about the area tonight as well as finding the cache I can say it was an enjoyable find. Thanks film7790 for the placement
#2662 After work headed out with DT with another plan on a puzzle not too far from here. After putting that plan to rest we picked up this Trad to keep our streaks alive. TFTC.

Found with ellacarn. Cache is damaged and water damage. Thanks for the cache

Success this time! I swear that wasn't there last time I looked... Anyway, the log is less a log and more a load of random scraps of paper.
Found the spot (we think) but some traveler may have taken it home? Little shreds of notebook paper marked the spot.
First Geocache found with Simon. Found under a rock I'm bushland off antil in Canberra
Found before the showers set in for the afternoon. Thanks for the short walk to GZ.
What a lovely spot - thanks for bringing me here. A straightforward find at GZ.
Found this little gem after my last snow day of the season. Nice sunset tonight too, but I didn't find a good enough vantage point to get a good snap of it TFTC!
After explaining to my partner what geocaching was we downloaded the app and realised we were only 300m away from this one so diverted course and bingo!
A nice quick find in a much larger than I realised park that I didn't know existed.TFTC
Didn't know there was a fenced area here, it's a lovely place to walk around and listen to the frogs. TFTC flim7790
Nice little reserve close to home. We usually find an echidna in here, but not today. TFTC
A freezing cold walk this afternoon with GLISS! As we hunt for 5 trigs and a daily cache. Despite the bitter weather there were muggles everywhere and we had a lovely walk managing to grab a couple of extra caches on the way! Thanks for the great cache.
A freezing day in Canberra - there's definitely snow on the mountains. Winter is Coming! Out with Nibletricecakes this afternoon pokemoning, finding trigs and geocaching. A really lovely walk. This one was quickly spotted. TFTC.
Quite easy to find. Slightly long. Beautiful surroundings. We saw some Ducklings. Soooo cute

Below is a blurb about us.
We are trying to get a badge from Project-GC for writing found log files of 100 words or more. Once we get this badge we will stop writing this. We are also trying to
get badges for adding photos to our found logs.
We Started caching in December 2019 and by January 2020 we were hooked. As we are on the road full time (living in a caravan), caching fits in well with this lifestyle.
It is taking us to places that we would normally not have gone.
When we move to a new place we also look at what caches are in the area and how many days we will need to be there to get the caches we want.
Trackables with us at this cache are:
Safari tony the tiger
Bonobo travel monkey tag
Son of red
Rhodes travel tong
Stanley the bushman
Travelling teddy
Friendship tag
DucIncs viking ship
Miss jenn lackey tag 11

found after leaving bikes outside. Quick 400m run and found. Nice place and container. Log signed and moved on. TFTC film7790!
Brahms6 found this one. Down from Queensland for the Balloon Festival but had to step out and claim a cache. Left a trackable
Between getting the dog bath and dentist appointment I raced over her to pick up my cache for the day. Nice cool weather for a short walk and cache was soo. In hand, sugned and returned. Thanks for getting me out and about
With my original plans for the long weekend being cancelled, I decided on taking a look at Geo-events that were around. I discovered a nearbyish CITO in Canberra. I had a bit of a catch up with people while also meeting lots of others for the first time. Nice to meet/re-meet you all. After attending the event a group of us took a run around the area collecting caches that have been on the solved plie for quite some time plus a few lone caches that were nearby. Most of these caches were the newish Harry Potter mystery caches. Even though I don’t like HP, I do enjoy caching. After we went our separate ways I took the opportunity to take quick snapshots for the GCA ‘Watson Testline Trig-points’. That gave me an extra 11 finds added to my GCA finds total. Next it was time for some grub before leaving Canberra. Earlier in the day I received a couple of emails telling me of some new caches one of which was on my way home in Binalong a quick stop off here and a FTF was made. Just as I was getting into my car someone else pulled up behind me and I met TheTreeWhisperer for the first time. Nice to meet you. After getting home, I had some dinner and ask Swimmagurl if she would like to join me to attempt a FTF out the Wagga road. She agreed to come and when we arrived at GZ we made a quick find. The only question remained was it a joint FTF? When opening the logbook we found we were the FTF. Now time to head home again. TB visit on all caches and on logbooks/sheets, I signed as 24/1 JM, 24/1 JohnoM or 24/1 JohnoMawbs depending on the size. Most caches were quick finds and a great day was had by all. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found today for placing them so I and others can enjoy. TFTC’s and TFTTP’s
Yellow box...blue box?? easy find on a smoky morning. Lots of roos watching on too. Not sure if they are muggles or not. 1 was tagged.
All good here
Thanks

Canberra Day 5: Northern suburbs (Mitchell - Watson - Dickson)
The goal of today’s caching was to clear off one of the mysteries I had solved from the northern Suburbs. I particularly liked these puzzles, so if anything, I wanted to get these so that my efforts were not wasted. It was going to be a hot day, so I started off early this morning, and hoped to finish a good amount before the heat starts to make geocaching unfortunately. All went well, and I ended the itinerary for today just before 2 pm with a total of 38 caches found.
This is the specific log for this cache:
A short detour from another cache in the park. I was thinking of cycling to the cache, but the bumpy and uneven terrain of the park put that out of the question. Ditched the bike, and walked over to the cache which was very easily spotted upon arrival. TFTC!

I took the longer route back to the car to have a look for this one and once at GZ, I was soon signing the log at 17:15.

Tftc! All the way from Melbourne and I’ve grabbed the trackable. Woo hoo. Thanks for the effort of a large cache. They’re my favourite.
One of those days where I felt like a stop off to find a cache on the way home - hurray for daylight saving - which are getting harder and harder to come by. This one was nice and easy - too easy, really. I spotted the cache from quite a way off as the hiding spot is quite open and it wasn't properly covered. I covered it as well as I could, given the setting.
A lovely spot here, though, with a cute pond housing several turtles and a wood duck that flew in to say hello. TFTC

Nice wander through this area today and good choice for a hide. Lots of birds watching over me today. TFTC
Lots of kangaroos out this evening! A nice bit of woodland I haven’t been to before.

Day 5 of trip to Queanbeyan/Canberra for the Clear Waters Mega Event, travelling with RLD4963.
We had nothing planned for today, no tours, no bookings, so we decided to head to a few particular caches that had been recommended to us. This resulted in us doing a great big loop around Canberra over the day, but we had great fun, and saw some great caches.
This was the last area on our list for the day, with a mix of caches we wanted to visit. A lovely walk to GZ and a nice quick find.

Found with leuchars - his second cache. Leuchars protested to help save this site in his days of glory! A lovely location TFTC
