Nice easy find. Came to town in Motorhome and very excited that we have lucked in on Xmas parade. So will be staying another night
The info says you don't have to interact with the friendly staff, but having been caught in the act of moving the furniture they had placed in front of the geocache, we had to! Luckily this wasn't a problem, and the cache was quickly found, Debsnz dropped her trackable, and we were on our way to the next one.
Day 13 of my 2020 NZE (New Zealand Experience).
(My apologies for the delayed logging but I'm in catch-up mode)
Seeing as I can't be in America right now, I'm touring around the South Island instead. During my time here I am aiming to find as many of the TMGT caches as I can (preferably all 41) and also as many Virtuals, Earthcaches and Letterbox Hybrids as possible, plus any Trads or others that will fill a hole in my D/T grid, my Jasmer grid, or else the last 3 remaining Hidden Dates on that grid.
I woke up this morning having spent the night beside a lovely beach near Heywards Point on the outskirts of Dunedin. Today's plan was to drive from Dunedin down to the Catlins, although I had no real idea of how far I'd get today. I have been so lucky to have dry conditions my whole trip so far, with the sun really putting in an effort to convince me it wasn't winter!
I wanted to ask a bit of advice of the staff here, so it seemed a great excuse to lookfor this cache too. I found the cache with little fuss. There were no issues with the container or log, which was signed before everything was replaced exactly as found before popping into the i-site.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Found all safe and secure as you would expect had to tell the lady on the counter about it as she spotted me tftc
Trouvée rapidement ! Merci à la charmante dame pour les informations pour la route et les visites à Dunedin !
I have a 3 month sabbatical mostly traveling around the planet. My goal is to find and log 1000 caches. New Zealand is my 4th station traveling from south Christchurch to north Auckland, my first visit here, its far away. This is my sabbatical-cache #524.
I actually started my day in Balclutha here but I didn't know there was a cache. With the hint it's a quick find. TFTC
On a caching weekend to Otago and Southland with Tuolei to pick up old caches, TMGT's, CANZ, solved puzzles and any others that caught our eye along the way. We had a 4 day long weekend planned that would take us around Dunedin on the first day, Tuatapere via Sutton, Balcutha, Mataura and Winton on the second day, Tokanui via Riverton, Invercargill and Bluff on the third day and then back to Dunedin via the Catlins on the last day. Overall we did 1578km and picked up just under 100 caches and managed to knock off most of the caches we had on our list.
Tuolei noticed is was in the info centre so thought it would be great to call in and take a look. Turn out to be useful as we had a chat to them about the road conditions ahead as there had been a lot of flood a couple of days prior to the trip. No problems with the find - all good here, TFTC.

Out and about on day one of Bennett24 and my holiday to the south to look for interesting caches including oldies, solved puzzles, geotour caches, and interesting types. We are heading south from Middlemarch to Tuatapere today - quite a drive - and stopping off to get a few caches on the way to break up the trip. By now we are at Balclutha and grateful for the stop - the info centre was useful for getting an update on the flooding down in the Catlins and at Mataura - very nice folks there too.
Cache was a quick and easy find thanks to the clear hint - no problems and of couse under the circumstances the cache is in perfect condition. Thanks for the cache, all good here.

Waiting for the 2nd van to arrive...very handy place to stop off at! We had a great time hanging out with the helpful and kind staff to fill in a bit of time

??????It's time for Xmas holidays!??????
At Munich airport I met Jon Snow and Ari and a couple of muggles. Here we started our common holiday tour.
First we went to Singapore by plane, where we stayed one night and strolled through this beautiful city. It was really amazing!
Then we went on to our real destination: New Zealand! ????
Within nearly four weeks we first explored the North Island, followed by the South Island in the second half of our journey. We could discover unique landscapes and great nature, we saw many animals (and no, I'm not talking about sand flies here??), we met nice people and found also some caches. ??
Thanks to all the owners for elaborating, hiding and maintaining their caches! Staying and caching in ???? and ???? was a great experience and real fun!
Sorry for logging so late, but it's not one of my favorite pastimes...
Greetings from "good old Europe"??, H.N.

?????? Vacation at the original locations of the LotR-films! ??????
Together with Jon Snow and H_Nelson and some friends-of-mine-muggles we went to New Zealand for almost four weeks, collecting many great impressions of both islands, their awesome landscapes, their clinging (and indeed very annoying!) muggles and bushes, their fascinating wildlife (especially the sandflies were very clinging, too??), their various locations of my favorite movies ?? (although the guided tours were very overpriced!) and last but not least their nice geocaches!
I fell especially in love with New Zealand's bushes because most of the caches are hidden deep inside. And the good thing is: there are definitely no muggles there??!!!
It was a very nice vacation with many great impressions and experiences!
Found it quickly on our way to Dunedin. It was my very first cache in the new year!
TFTC and greetings from Bavaria, Ari

Tramyard and I headed down to Christchurch and the lower part of the South Island to find the last remaining caches needed on the geotour. This turned into a bigger adventure than we anticipated when we bumped into a cacher from Christchurch in Timaru who told us that not much earlier SH1 was closed between Timaru and Christchurch due to flooding. Subsequently, the last route northbound was also closed due to flooding. We were thus trapped. It was two days before the roads opened again and we joined the thousands of vehicles trying to get through the only route back to Christchurch, which just so happened to feature a one-lane bridge.
Stopped by here due to the high favs on this cache. Thankfully the open hours worked with the time we were passing by. As tramyard signed the log, I was listening to the update about the road closures from the staff.

Found it while in the area with Aiden29 doing NZ GeoTour caches on South Island.

Vacations 2019 - Road trip trough New Zealand
With Geoesposa, this was my 50th anniversary. 16 days, 4200Kms and a few hundreds smilles after, i was sure i saw nothing....
I liked everything, the friendly and civilized people, the way the country works, the roads and especially the natural beauty of New Zealand.
I fell in love....
I decided to go back in 5 years, I easily see myself living my last days somewhere lost in any stunning scenery of this wonderful country.
With the itinerary studied at home, the caches were the ones that were in the chosen places, and a few used to stretch the legs. It was decidedly not the most important on this trip. Of all the visited, only half a dozen did not appear, all being in good health except two or three.
I will use this generic log, not for disrespect of the owners, but due to the amount of caches visited. Here the majority of caches serve to show something beautiful (as it should be), not giving importance to the container.
My thanks to all the ownwers who, allied to the natural beauty of the country, have made this vacation unforgettable.

Out on a day trip with Granville86a to log a few caches in and around Balclutha. I had not previously logged any so plenty to choose from! Granville on the other hand had a need to hunt up a few newly published ones so the emphasis was on those. Nice wee hide, -TB tftc
We certainly did. Had a chat to the helpful lady here. Got some photos of the lovely bridge. Not many like this left. TFTC
On a road trip south, enjoying the day and pic up some caches. TFTC

On holiday down south so out for the day exploring Balclutha. What a friendly place and we got a Hello. Then found the cache, took a gorgeous trackable so will put in a new location. Really loved it and wanted to take back home to a cache but the info said to keep in the area. Thanks for this cache Muzzer.
Easy find and also very helpful staff. But that's what you expect in an I site!!
Very friendly staff as we looked round and we chatted to one of them that has a son who is interested in geocaching. Picked up some brochures for my next trip south as well as the cache. Location could be interesting in winter so just a heads up on that Muzzer.
Very nice quick find here, and (not surprisingly) cache all in good order.

#803. Stopped for picnic lunch with the family, and thought I had better get at least one cache at Balclutha. Took longer than it should have, as I didn’t read the description, but patently obvious where to look when I did! Left a Hot Wheel for the next junior cacher.

Today we made a trip from Dunedin via Milton, Baclactha, and the Catlins to finally Invercargill, visiting some new sightseeing locations and looking for old caches. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches, too. The weather was warm in the morning and in the afternoon, but no rain at all.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to Muzzer for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Where everyone says hello! (Otago). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Hello.....
Stopped in Balclutha for a morning cuppa and checked the map and spotted a couple of close caches, jogged over to the I center while the tea was brewing and after a quick read of the description the cache was soon in hand.
No one to say hello to but I like it like that....

On a road trip, chauffeured by Saethwr as she gets some more driving experience. This is a good run to get further on my quest to find the world turtle.
Updated the app and the hint updated itself - that was after talking to the staff, as it is rude not to when they talk to you.
Thanks for the smilie Muzzer.
