With two Events in Avoca, I decided a three day trip would be great, That would give Me time to explore the area and do a handful of the many caches on offer in this region. The weather was fantastic with nice sunny days but the nights sure were chilly with ice on the windscreen each morning. I saw many places and learnt a lot of history on the trip. The Main towns I visited were Avoca, Maryborough, Talbot, Clunes and Creswick.
This was one of the caches I found in My travels. All the rocks on top have cracked the lid.
Thanks Pirateute for the cache.

Was told by my work to have Monday off from work so i turned that into 3 days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and I picked a spot on the map that I can not remember ever visiting so Marybourgh was the spot.
We are now starting to take the back roads around Marybourgh and in so we are often passing the remains of small diggings and then occasionally something a lot bigger.
After a brief search we soon located the cache and added our names to the log.
After teaming we were wondering how many we can find this afternoon so off to the next one.
Thanks Pirateute TFTC

Caught up with Posums late this morning and had a great day driving around searching for caches.

Newstead Day to Maryborough staying at the Trotting Club
After setting up camp at our new destination we decided to tour the town by following the geocaching trail. From the town area & around lakes.
We were very impressed with the really old buildings around town.
Thankyou for bringing us to this old mine.

Family Perpetuallylost and Theo the beagle were in town today to turn DNFs from our last visit nearly 12 months ago into smilies and to hunt down some other caches in the area.
As i much prefer to go caching out in the bush rather than in the city, the map lead us over to this side of town for a look around.
Mrs Perpetuallylost found this one after i had walked straight past it. Thx Pirateute for your cache placement here, we quite enjoy walking around mine ruins, this one was no exception.

Unfortunately this well stocked cache has been underwater recently.
Its hidey hole filled with water.
As a consequence we had to throw out some rusty items... a purse and hair clip, along with all wet cards and paper.
The log well bagged up is pristine.
We let everything else dry in the hot sun while we sat in air conditioned comfort having our lunch.
We were very impressed with The enormity of this mine and remaining structure.
TFTC and hopefully it will remain dry.

Checked this one out enroute to Old Carisbrook Res by mountain bike. Lots of people have dumped their rubbish out here, and there are lots of old beer cans lying around... it was a little uncomfortable. Was cool to check out something I hadn't seen nonetheless, and mere kilometres from my house. Easy find in a fairly obvious location. Couldn't sign log because pen in cache wouldn't work. Thanks for the hide Pirateute!
Find #1817 for me. Found with jtnsilo at 12:25 pm. I'd taken a day off work to go geocaching and thought it would be a great opportunity to find some bush caches around Maryborough in the cooler weather before it started to warm up again in spring. This was the fourth of five caches found today at yet another wonderful historical site in the area. We made a quick find here today but I spent quite a bit of time taking photos of the old building relics. The cache itself was a lot larger than we were expecting and big enough for most TBs (if anybody with a TB happens to read this before visiting). Thanks for bringing us to this old mining site today Pirateute and thanks for the cache!
Quick find and look about .good size cache container too. Thanks for placing a cache were we can learn about our early history.

Tonight we headed to Maryborough to catch up with fellow catcher becca85 and co. so left a little earlier to find a cache or two. What a fantastic piece of history here. Kids enjoyed exploring and climbing! Many thanks for the cache.
We were going to finish today’s caching after the previous find, but there is always “one more”. We came at a good time: Yes, it is certainly evident that people like riding their bikes around here, the mullock heaps are of course inviting. But today we had the place to ourselves and took the opportunity to look at a few details here. Thanks for bringing us to this spot!
A quick find. After the rain last night, and almost bogging the bus, we had to walk from the cemetary. This is a great historical apot and we can only imagine the gold that came from here. SL and replaced. TFTC!
A quick find. Though the contents of the box are dry now it shows signs of past water ingress in the form of rusted swaps. The log has remained nice and dry however. A great place. Thanks for bringing me here!
Took a while to find this one. GPS was jumping here and there. Stood back and look around and finally spotted the obvious spot.
Thanks for setting up this cache in this interesting location. TNLN

Is a puzzle as to why contents are so damp, box looks well sealed...and no rain here for several weeks.... Enjoyed finding this en route from Maryborough to Carisbrook via the old Carisbrook res on bikes. Helped to add interest to a most enjoyable bike ride to the Carisbrook pub for a good meal then rode back up the bike path to return to Maryborough.
TFTC. We had just completed becca85's nano/micro puzzle cache. Looked at the map and this looked close enough to attempt in the time frame available. A nice walk on the track and a cache , not what I was expecting.
Suscoe had a big day out caching today.
230 kms on the speedo by the time we stopped and a terrific day of caching was had.
The day started out with 5 degrees as we headed for Ballarat but soon the numbers started climbing and by tea time is was 34 degrees on the car dial.
The countryside is so very dry up this way but it is February and it is the central highlands.
The traffic was light and we saw a few wallabies out in the bush.
Thanks to Pirateute for this cache.
The cache was a little wet today but the log book was great in the sip lock.

In the area working and had the chance to grab a couple of caches before work.
Even at this time I almost got muggled by an old guy out walking in the woods. Quick find.

With Christmas nearly upon us we had the opportunity to do what we love the most and that is caching around our beautiful countryside. We finally hit Maryborough where we planned to stay overnight and find as many caches in the area that time would allow. In the area getting a mystery so decided to continue on towards this cache and add our names to the log. We could actually hear the roar of motorbikes disturbing the serenity of the bushland as we made our search only to realise after we left that the motocross club was nearby.
Thanks Pirateute for showing us this old mine site.

Interesting spot and a quick find. We thought the cache was a regular in size. Thanks Pirateute. Foudn with Motndarg.
# First time in this area, a very interesting historical gold mining spot. McLookers spotted this well stocked cache, signed and replaced. Thanks Pirateute.
**"Just another brick in the wall." Found it and the cache. TFTC. SL. Took a small swap toy and left several swaps. What a fantastic huge old wall. Thanks Pirateute for bring us to this interesting location. It was a bit hard finding the right track getting to this cache,. The track is JUST suitable for a car, but a 4WD would be much better,so future geocachers be weary. Cheers.
great cache but the old mine is being littered a bit these days

TFTC. Interesting place to find a good size box. Kids swapped a car for some pearls.
Doesn't get any easier than driving up to it. Puddles on the track, which looked like recent heavy rain. Abandoned car nearby, with all its windows smashed. Reported it to the cops. Tftc, tnln 23/01/2016, 7:08 PM Find #810
Found with chooknchunk. We had a great day out in Maryborough. Some wonderful caches. I enjoyed the time out. Tftc
Out early this morning grabbing a couple of last minute caches before leaving town, we made our way out to the gz in the mighty mitsy and managed a quick find with this cache. TFTC Pirateute.
A nice easy find with all four members of Fergzter out for a days hunting geocaches. We were very impressed by the brick footings here. There must have been some really significant boilers here running pumps, air pumps and possibly a battery in the old days. Cache is in good order. Many thanks for placing this cache for us to find.
Travelling around Australia with our Cat.
Staying in Dunolly we decided to head out today and explore the local area using Geocaching.
We managed to find your cache whilst on tour.
